Gracie was content to let the conversation drift away from the real world and towards the comic book one, of which she had near to little interest. It was only when people emailed Sachin death threats or queries on if he was dead or not and if that was the reason for his lack of publications. It had been right after Brazil when Sachin had been in almost tears at one comment that she had finally stepped in. The guy had backed down rather quickly and as far as she knew the guy hadn't contacted him since.

"I don't appreciate people threatening my boyfriend," she looked up to the rest of the table through her thick black eyelashes. It was understandable, did anyone really want the love of their life to be upset or hurt? She looked to Sachin then when he turned round, having snatched up Nate's comment about leaving.

"Sachin don't stare, you'll give us away," she smiled rather fondly at him and slid her hand into his. Seeing as though he was not looking towards the door, Gracie tried to cover up his movement by leaning close to him and pointing out a painting on the wall. "Just pretend to admire the painting even if it is not as good as yours," she mused. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the guys ease off of their pocket and perhaps their weapons.

"Can you see in the dark?" she raised an eyebrow to the others at the table.

Andree smiled when Nate squeezed her hand, it felt so relaxing and comforting to her. Her eyes followed his gaze after hearing what he had to say though. If he really thought that she would just run away from a fight, he was sorely mistaken. When she hadn't been out on patrol in a while, she needed a way to get her anger out. One of her eyebrows raised, questioningly, at him to make sure he understood that she wasn't about to leave. Her eyes followed the men, unlike Gracie, she was not worried of them noticing. The men had already spotted them at their table, so why the hell should she care if they notice her glaring at them. One thing was for certain, she was not letting them touch anybody here.

Andree noticed their slow approach, hands in their pockets. Their pockets seemed slightly too big to just be their hands, obviously they were carrying weapons. Andree was slightly disappointed now that she didn't bring any of her own weapons along with her. She decided that it would be a good idea to get behind them, get them caught between herself and the rest of the group if there was a fight, which she would bet there would be.

Pushing her chair out of it's spot at the table, Andree stood up and walked innocently towards the bathrooms that were behind the men. Apparently, they either were able to tell what she was doing or they just wanted none of the group to leave. This was what she guessed when one of them placed a hand on her shoulder to stop her from leaving. "Where do you think you're going?" The man asked in his husky voice. "Little boy, did I give you permission to touch me?" She asked in reply as she grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back. Well, he started it.

Chelle

Allowing her head to nod, she chuckled toward both Sachin and Gracie. "The comic actually does sound lovely. I really would enjoy a copy of each signed appropriately. I'll pay whatever you desire. Her attention then peaked and turned to Nate and the party of four that happen to walk in and spot their table. Chelle signed and stood up moments after Andree did. She slid herself to the bar and then quickly shadow stepped behind of the counter and pulled the fire alarm. Tables filled with very many people stood up and started for the exit. Even the waiters and etc were heading for the exit. It was rare that the fire alarm went off in places like this any more, so everyone was cautious and made their way out quickly. This left Chelle, Nathaniel, Andree, who was holding on of the men by the arm, Gracie, and Sachin. Chelle shook her head and allowed her wings to spread out behind of her, the backless dress a nice touch to this display. She smirked and shadow stepped behind of the men and allowed her arms to grapple one of them, a gunshot becoming muffled by her wings. Her wings had wrapped around of the man and caught the bullet within her feathers. "You were trying to shoot that poor girl? You would have ruined her gown; that just isn't polite." She smirked and looked toward her brother.

Nathaniel

His eyes widened and he watched Andree walk toward them. He almost went and tackled her onto the floor to protect her, but decided she would only be in more danger if he interfered. His eyes flicked to the alarm and the sudden bustle of people had Andree, and Chelle, lost in a crowd. As soon as the people cleared, he heard a gun shot and he ran forward, toward Andree and Chelle. The four guys were from the poker game that same morning. He rubbed his temples and allowed his eyes to close for a moment. He then allowed his emotions to stir with the mens. "You are going to calmly relax and place down your weapons." The four did so without warning. They gently pulled out their guns and dropped them onto the floor. Nathaniel sighed and let his hands move down from his temples. He smiled gently and then his eyes widened. Above them on the balcony were more men; and he heard a bustle in the kitchen; then the doors open to reveal more. Six on the balcony, at least ten from the kitchen. "You have GOT to be kidding me.." he said, looking around. "Chelle, you know what this means.." he said, his nails turning from plain, too short stubs to long, gnarly claws. His fangs protruded and his wings ripped through his designer shirt, and coat to spread out behind of him. He then pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a long needed drag. "Let's dance." he said, snapping. His voice was now rough and deep; almost demonic. And if on cue, Gracie had turned off the lights like she had originally planned.

And so excitement returns to our life. Sachin thought to himself, seeing the men appearing everywhere. Ah, how fun was this? Sachin nodded to Gracie when she told him he was giving them away. "My bad, dear." he whispered back, glancing at the painting. It really was badly drawn...he mentally adjusted it in his mind, but then the action started. The men started walking toward them, and one grabbed Andree's shoulder.

Bad move, Sachin knew.

Then Nate changed. Sachin raised an eyebrow in amazement, showing that he was impressed. He mentally recorded the scene, then realised they were in a fight. A bullet went flying at Nate, but missed due to the fact Sachin had just whacked the shooter's arm with a spoon. It caused the bullet to go a bit left, hitting....

That hideous looking painting. Fuck yeah.

Sachin then realised he had just hit a gunman with a spoon. A relatively unique weapon, as those went. But now one of the men threw a punch at him, so he picked up his fork and stabbed him in the shoulder, also dodging that punch.

Sachin dual-wielded a fork and spoon, glancing to the side at Gracie. In their private language, he asked 'What the fuck did I just do? Ah fuck."

Chaos. That as the only word Gracie could think to describe later on what happened. Andree and Chelle got up and were engaged with men in a matter of seconds. Then Sachin, of all people, stabbed another guy with a fork. Really Sachin, a fork? Grace asked mentally and slowly stood up. She didn't like fighting in a dress, especially a dress which had been so expensive. Slid her hand up her thigh and then pulled loose the gun she had strapped to the outside of her thigh. One shot to the guy Sachin was fighting sent him to the ground in a unresponsive heap. She hadn't killed him, she'd shot him with a tranquilliser, her bullets were in the gun in her left hand.

"That's my boyfriend," she muttered in annoyance and stepped over the corpse-like man, handing the tranquillising gun to Sachin. She knew he didn't like to kill so it seemed better. "Tranqs, try not to shoot someone on our team though," she teased. Sachin wasn't the best of shooters despite her tips. Once she was sure the man she loved was armed and as dangerous as an angry rabbit she glanced to the ceiling at the same time Nate exclaimed there were many of them. Only then did Gracie herself let loose the powers she had. Her eyes closed briefly and the electricity went out from the building, the whole thing sapped of energy. Then in a burst of power Grace rose her hands upwards to the cieling and the blue untamed energy shot to the rafters of the building, creating a lightening like net. The electricity illuminated the room and occasional sparks went off when electricity hit human flesh sending them screaming to the floor and twitching as though they had been tasered by 50000 volts. Which they basically had. The blue light show was eerily beautiful and terrifying, especially as the power had turned a switch in Gracie, almost lighting her up in a hazy electric blue colour.

As Andree dashed towards the kitchen to attempt to hold back the men, she avoided looking at Nate at the moment. But, as she approached, the men from the kitchen looked frightened, their eyes were looking up at the ceiling. Andree turned to see what it was that they were looking at and saw the net of electricity above. It was a terrifying, yet beautiful, sight to behold. She found it more beautiful though, considering the fact she knew Gracie wasn't going to fry her for dinner with it. Now, these guys, on the other hand, she wasn't too sure about.

One of the men was met by a spin kick in the jaw while the man next to him was fried by the electricity that Gracie controlled. The man, whom she had just broken the jaw of, was met by a second kick to the stomach before his legs were knocked out from under him. To make sure he was out for now, she smashed her shoe into his head. The man's eyes closed as he drifted into a forced rest.

Andree grabbed a plate off the nearby table and smashed it against the thick skull of another angered man. He crumpled to the ground as it smashed. She groaned as she felt one man's fist make contact with her gut. But, the man didn't get to savor it as he felt his stomach repeatedly bashed by her foot.

Chelle
She rose a brow and glanced around and then up. The sight was gorgeous. "Oh wow.." she muttered under her breath. She then looked at Nathaniel as he allowed his Vampiric side to surface. She rose a brow and tilted her head. He didn't look as demonic as she had remembered. Maybe it was her turn. She too allowed her fangs to protrude, her claws to lengthen, and her wings to spread out behind of her. The only added affect was her eyes changed from that husky auburn brown to a deep, crimson red. Oh, and her gorgeous olive skin became ashen and grey. Chelle was much more in tune with her Vampire side, so she looked more devilish than Nate when letting out her true colors. She flew up to the balcony and leaned away from a man getting hit by the blue lightning. She rose a brow and chuckled, swinging her fist into the jaw of the nearest man. She crushed it completely, sending him flying from the force, pressure, and sheer strength. She chuckled and allowed herself to spin, the force of her wings crushing two men flat onto the floor; knocking them unconscious.

Nathaniel
He moved his attention from Andree once he knew she was all right. "She's got this.. and Gracie and Sachin have got the ground floor under control.. but I cannot leave my sister alone." He then rose up to the balcony with his sister and moved with her, avoiding any of the men being zapped by the blue lightning. He, too, was impressed with this display of power. IT was raw and beautiful. With a deep groan of anger, though, he moved himself alongside of his sister and took her hands to swing her into the next set of men. He let her go and she tumbled before flipping her feet out and kicking two men in the face. He watched her flap her wings to steady herself and then he chuckled and slashed his claws across a man's chest. It cut through his jacket and the holster for his gun which fell to the floor before he could grab it. Nate smirked and moved a fist up to punch the man clear in the eye. He wasn't as strong as his sister, but he could manage. He sent the man down with a bloody eye and moved back before another zap of blue electricity could hit him, too.

He then dropped down once he had cleared two of the men upstairs out. Chelle had it. He came up to Andree and moved with her into the kitchen. "Heh.. Need a hand? he asked, allowing himself to move past her quickly. He was fast, and grabbed a hand that was about to reach for Andree. "This woman is not yours; she's mine. Back off." he said, snapping the hand backward and crushing the bones. That man would probably never use that hand again. He smiled and nudged Andree before setting ahead of her to knock down another man with the force from his wings.

Gracie could feel the energy go through her like it had a mind of it's own and usually it did. Raw energy was not something designed to be controlled and Gracie was having trouble reigning it in and trying to slow it down or stop it. Finally the connection broke but instead of returning to normal, her skin will crackled with a layer of electric blue criss crosses and lightening bolts. It was beginning to sting a little. Having over 50000 volts pass through you left behind a horrid static aftershock. If anyone touched her at this moment in time they were probably going to get a shock that could sent them into a quivering mess, especially if her full voltage had killed the men along the ceiling who now lay like ash corpses along the floor. Stepping back twice she slumped into a chair to catch her breath. The sudden burst had taken a lot out of her but she was not out of the fight just yet. She'd been in a similar state after Brooklyn though this was definitely not as bad, she wasn't hemmeragingat this moment in time at least. Her eyes glanced around to see the extent of the damage she had done and slowly put a little bit of light back into the room. One lone light swung from the ceiling, illuminating the sight on the floor of men with 5 degree burns over their bodies, some were motionless whereas others were groaning in pain.

"Who exactly ARE these people?" Gracie asked once the pair had finished off the few remaining men. She was feeling a little better though she still had that odd glowing from the inside-out light thing going on.

Andree continued to avoid looking at Nate right now so she didn't see his current form in her mind's eye at other times. It was mostly the claws that freaked her out. His voice was a little creep too, though. The wings she was cool with. And the fangs were fine as long as they didn't come out during some inappropriate moments.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a man coming at her. She decided to let him take a few swings first. The fist came lying for her head but she slapped it aside. A second one came for her stomach but she stepped to the side and slapped the man on each cheek. It was fun to toy with him. His leg came to kick her but she just stepped to the side and slapped him on the face once more. "Are you even trying?" Sticking her tongue out to tease him, she continued to evade and slap him. A few more dodges and slaps later, she just punched him in the face, sent a sidekick into his knee and finished him off by jumping into the air off his chest, using it as a spring board, and smashing her heel into his face.

Brushing a bit of hair out of her face, she straightened out the beautiful midnight blue dress she wore. She was thankful that Gracie had picked one that was easy to fight in. The bottom of it had a few rips in it but nothing that couldn't be easily repaired.

Then her attempts to avoid seeing Nate were in vain when he came to her and asked if she needed a hand before grabbing one that was reaching for her. "Thanks." She said. Normally she would have giggled and blushed at the comment about her being Nate's woman but, for now, she was all business and ignored it.

When the last of the men were taken out, Andree replied to Gracie's question. "No idea, not anyone I've ever met."

Chelle turned her attention to Gracie and rose a brow. She was impressed with the display of electricity; though she was surprised her gown hadn't been fried off. Smirking, she allowed her hand to grasp her blade and swing it, easily slicing a man onto his knees. "Something makes me believe Nathaniel knows these goons. Or at least, a few of them." Chelle was narrowing her eyes, a bit peeved at this point in time. "Please tell me you didn't owe them money, Nate. You know I could have helped you out. There's no reason for you to have hidden this from me. AND then treat us to dinner on top of owing people money, little brother." And now she was mad. She narrowed her eyes and landed on the ground level floor, her gray skin, claws, bright red eyes, and fanged canines were devilish. She caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror and gasped, instantly letting the 'true' form of her's vanish.

Nate allowed his eyes to follow Andree as she toyed with the man. His eyes caught a glimpse of himself and he then looked down to his claws. He shrugged mentally and punched out the last man before stepping back out into the dining hall. He rolled his eyes and looked at his gruesome sister. Shaking his head he sighed and looked from Gracie, to Sachin, and then finally to Andree. His claws vanished, and so did his fangs. His wings also vanished and a black and white petaled rose fell behind of him. He turned, caught it, and spun back around, tossing it to Andree. "So what if I knew them, Chelle! And I did not owe them anything. I simply won a poker game, and pocketed a large sum. I cannot remember the exact number, but it might have been ten to twenty grand.. Heh." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked about to the extent of damage and then up at the only surviving light bulb. He then laughed. He just laughed. And laughed. He held his stomach and doubled over and laughed. His laughter was slightly contagious, seeing as his sister chimed in.[/color]

Sachin had taken the whole fight doing the safe route of standing behind his girlfriend. It made logical sense. He was not a fighter in the least, as the thought of death or murder made him vomit. Fighting went against his morals, even if it was needed. But he felt useless as all the enemies were taken out without any of his help. He felt weak. He should be helping his girlfriend and his friend fight off the enemies, but he was cowering...he was a kayar- a coward. He had felt useless before, such as when he, Gracie and Danny had been attacked by highwaymen and he had froze, but he was realising it painfully now. He was, compared to his friends, completely useless in a battle.

But he smiled and laughed at the taken down men. "Great work, guys!" he said, sounding cheerful and happy. He was good enough at it that only Gracie would be able to tell he wasn't actually that thrilled and that the good mood was a bit forced. He cracked a slight joke- "So, you think they'll still make you pay?" he said, looking around at the downed men, cowering patrons- cowering just like he had- and destroyed property. He gave a whistle. "Well, good thing we're rich enough to pay for that shit, and the twenty grand you took can be used for this place, fixing it up again and stuff." he nodded to Nate.

"Next time though, we ought to eat Indian food." he said, glancing at his broken chair. "But for now let's just go home."

And there he would keep pretending nothing was wrong and keeping away his jealousy. Goddamn...he just wanted to be useful, not useless. But he had his duty, which was to help others in the spotlight instead of taking it himself. And he would have to accept that.

He turned around his girlfriend, smiling. "That lightning?" he said in their private language. "Beautiful, fierce and wondorous. But I found that the user was all that and even more." he said, kissing her gently and letting his healing energy into her, getting rid of any of her exhaustion from the brief fight.

Perhaps a supporting role in this story wasn't too bad then. Least he wouldn't pay the bills.

Gracie blinked at the kiss but closed her eyes and enjoyed it never the less. Her arms wound around his neck as he leaned into her and she smiled against his lips. If she could giver Sachin her powers by all means she would. She didn't like them like he did, it created questions she would never have the answers to and that was painful. She slid her hands down Sachin's arms and took his hands, resting her forehead against his as he murmured to her in their private language. A faint blush crossed her cheeks and she cast her eyes down in embarrassment - she hadn't meant to show her powers like that - especially in front of two new people.

"Powers aren't all that fun," she whispered to him with a small smile. "I'd rather be able to do something useful like healing," she cupped his cheek gently and stroked across one of his high cheek bones. She didn't like him to feel left out and that he was of no use. Honestly, the times he had healed her when she would have probably tried to do something on her own were unbelievable. She twined her fingers with his as they shared a little moment, away from the rest of the group, both softly talking under their breath in their own private language. "Maybe I should teach you to fight... Some more self defence moves."

Then Nate was explaining who the people were and she scrunched up her nose a little. Gambling? They had been fighting over money? She sighed and got up very slowly, wary of how her body usually felt over such a thing. Sachin's healing was utterly amazing. She felt strong enough to go for another round. She leaned into him never the less and rested her cheek on his shoulder.

"Yeah... I think heading home sounds like a good idea," her eyes slowly slid to Andree and Nate. "Is Nate sleeping over?" her eyebrows raised.

A blush spread across Andree's cheeks as she caught the black and white rose Nathaniel tossed her. Her hand caught the rose before it fell and held it up to her nose to breath in the smell of the beautiful flower. It smelled as wonderful as it looked. Moving a bit of hair around, she tucked it into a bit of hair just above her ear, so it slightly rested on it.

She wasn't quite sure what her opinion on him gambling was. As long as this wasn't a usual occurrence and he didn't lose a lot of money, she thought it was fine. Especially if he was good at it, never hurt to use your talents. She glanced up at Sachin as he cheered about them doing a great job. One of her eyebrows raised questioningly but she made sure that he couldn't tell. At the suggestion of having Indian food next time, her nose scrunched up. She didn't particularly enjoy Indian food all that much.

As she watched Gracie and Sachin have their kiss and mutter some words in their private language, she made a mental note to learn it later. "Not sure." She replied to Gracie's question regarding Nathaniel sleeping over. She hadn't picked up what Gracie was getting at. As she moved a little closer to him, she asked "Do you want to?" The blush from before was still present but fading.

Chelle's laughter died down and she found a chair and sat down, bowing her head slightly as she sighed. She was a bit exhausted at this point, and much needed a bath. Tomorrow she was heading to Italy for a few things, so she really needed to get home. And after Italy she would head to New York for the day, and then she would be in Chicago to visit Nate just a bit more and finalize the paperwork to give him the house. She would then possibly treat herself to a shopping trip. A much needed shopping trip. She pulled out her cellular and made sure the plane ticket was set up. She would be riding first class on a tiny private jet for people who were willing to pay the extra dollar for travel. "Well, Nate. You can do whatever you like. It was a pleasure to have met all of you. I need to head to the house. I suppose I'll grab a cab. The Limo will take you all back home if Nate is going with you." She smiled and waved to them and stepped out, her wings stretching behind of her. She was going to take a cab, but chose to fly instead. Her wings pulled her into the sky and she was off toward the Chicago house.

Nate gave Andree a smile, his teeth all normal and in a nice porcelain row. He also looked dirty and worn out. He had left his other clothes at Andree's house, so he could definitely stay the night. He glanced to Sachin and Gracie, eavesdropping their conversation. He waved to his sister and smiled back to Andree. "I'll only stay over if you want me to." He gave her a longing, loving look and stepped to her side, his arm sliding around of her. He then pulled the cash out of an inner pocket and gave it to one of the manager's that wandered over to them at the mention of paying for the damage. "I hope this covers it. Should be a nice fix. If not, contact me." He had slid a business card with the money so that if the repairs did cost more, he could find a way to pay up. He sighed happily and looked around. "Well, let's go home?" He asked, an open question. Once everyone agreed, he walked out, his arm still linked around of Andree. They would then all get into the Limo and be driven off to the cute apartment.
