Re: Heat in the Night
Ed could here people screaming from the rooms. True they could now move but the back few rooms were unreachable. "Fuck it!", Ed shouted in frustration.
Ed reached down and grabbed the mass of steel girders in his left hand. He lifted the hot metal from the ground and threw it lazily. They fell with a large splash, landing in the Gulf about 20 miles or so away.
Ed didn't care at this point, saving these people was far more important than someone knowing he was a superhuman. Ed started kicking doors in and rushing people out.

Re: Heat in the Night
Macie stood shocked for a moment when Eduard tossed what must have been tons of metal from the building, but shook her head and rushed to help the trapped civilians out of the fire. She was helping the last few out when she heard something crack, and felt the whole structure begin to shake. "Hurry! It's falling!" Macie called, placing her gloved hands in those of two children and running out onto the street.

Re: Heat in the Night
Ed gathered the bodies of all the unconscious off of the top floor and dead from all floors, running hurriedly down. The falling building wouldn't have hurt him, but the people on his back were another story. Since he was quite a bit slower and doing more scouring Ed was still trapped on the second floor when it begin to fall. Doing the best he could to shield the living Ed jumped through the window, landing with a large, painless thump next to Macie.

Re: Heat in the Night
Macie watched as the building began to tumble, then jumped slightly when Eduard landed next to her, people, alive and dead, on his back. She closed the few feet between them in a millisecond, hands poking and prodding, the natural motherly instinct she was born with kicking in.
"Are you alright? You're not hurt are you?" Macie said, examining every square inch of skin that might have been damaged. She knew he had incredible strength, but what else and how powerful they were, Macie didn't.

Re: Heat in the Night
"Nah, take a lot more than that to take down the Brawlin' Aussie."
Ed unloaded the people carefully onto the ground. He then turned to Macie scratching the back of his head, "Look I appreciate what you did in there, but I'd like to ask if you could keep what happened between us. Can't have everyone know about that."

Re: Heat in the Night
"No problem." Macie smiled, "I know how it feels to have everything you've worked hard for jeopardized." She tugged at the corner of her mask nervously.
Macie looked up at him, "So, uh, would you happen to have time for a quick drink before it gets any later?"

Re: Heat in the Night
Eduard was taken aback again by the woman. He had actually been asked out for drinks. Most people figured he was too high class to just go out for drinks, and he hadn't asked anyone out since his wife's death. "I...I guess shiela." He chuckled a little at the prospect, "I'll warn you though, you'll be dead before you can match me."
Ed bent down and picked up some of the unconscious tenants, so he could bring them to the ambulences for medical attention. The news crews had already showed up, doing a story on the large fire. When they saw the large celebrity walk out from behind the buildin carrying bodies they instantly swarmed him. "COME THE FUCK ON PEOPLE! We need medical attention for these people. Now before I start adding you to the unconscious pile, I suggest you move outta my way."

Re: Heat in the Night
Macie grinned, happy to have someone of Eduard's stature agree to drinks with her, a lower office personnel. "Match you how?" She mumbled at his back, waiting in the shadows for him to return. This city didn't need any more excitement tonight, seeing as all of the press swarmed around Eduard as soon as he stepped onto the flickering street. Apparently he was more important than a massive apartment complex going up in flames.
{You know what, if you're not happy with it, deal. I'll fix it tomorrow, I am tired and incoherent at the moment, therefore cannot think or fix this post. ><}

Re: Heat in the Night
((This one's perfectly fine. I just thought that you being faster than me didn't make sense.))
Ed placed the unconscious bodies as near an ambulence as he could manage, and before the press could try and reswarm him he motioned for Macie and took off.

Re: Heat in the Night
Macie saw Eduard motion to her, and she was by his side in seconds, moving away from the crowd. ”So where do you like to go for a drink, anyway?” Macie asked, glancing at him in the dim light.

Re: Heat in the Night
Ed smiled at her, "Usually at my place. But I think it'd be a bit inappropriate to invite you over for drinks when we've just met." Ed walked a bit before speaking, "There's a nice, upper scale place I know of. Not a dive bar and not as snooty as the yacht clubs and shit."

Re: Heat in the Night
"Sounds good, but I'm thinking I will change first. Walking into a place dressed like this," Macie snapped some of the tight costume's material, "Just isn't right." She smiled. "What's the place called? I can meet you there in a while."

Re: Heat in the Night
Ed chuckled, "It really depends on the place you walk into." Ed searched his pockets and pulled out a pen. "Gimme your hand, I'll write down the address."

Re: Heat in the Night
Macie held out her hand, palm up toward Eduard, watching the pen as he scribbled the address on the pale skin. "Cool," She said, smiling as she turned away. "I'll see you there."
Macie was back at her apartment a short while late, digging through her closet, searching for something suitable. She discovered a decent mocha dress and flats, and deemed herself suitable, then found the address written on her hand.

Re: Heat in the Night
Ed was waiting on Macie outside the bar. He had changed clothes himself, instead of the burnt and sooty jeans and t-shirt he had been wearing into a blue short-sleeve button-up and a pair of khakis. He wore the same boots which now reeked of smoke, but that was really the only pair of shoes he owned, never being much into the fashion scene, even as a celebrity. Ed smiled as Macie approached. She was very beautiful, even after racing through a burning building.

Re: Heat in the Night
"Hey," Macie said, smiling as she walked up to Eduard. She studied him for a moment, hip cocked out at an angle. "Yeah, you look better when you're not singed." Macie teased. She glanced at the door of the building, then looked back at Eduard. "Should we go in?"
