Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Looks |
The Legacy |
Personality: Witty, charming and flamboyant are some words that come to mind when thinking of Riley. A Joppos hair and eye colours are taken as omens of their personalities and Captain Riley got an odd combination. Pink hair suggests an optimistic, brave, confident, wild but reckless attitude while purple eyes are frequently present in sophisicated, intelligent, charming and lucky for him, popular, Joppos (he is totally all of these things). He's totally all about parties, although there's a rumour that alcohol, drugs, sex and partying are all ways of him channeling the angst that's built up inside him for basically getting his parents killed instead of him becoming dark, gritty and speaking in a gravelly deep voice. Pssshhh, but that's gotta be bullshit. Right? History: A tale of heroics about conquering evil empires and warlocks is definitely not fitting for Captain Riley. No, his story is one of circumstance, reckless abandon and accidents. A lot of them, some happy some tragic but all of them important. I'll keep this quick as his history is far too exciting and filled with far too many joyous mishaps for a lazy author like myself. When he was born, boy were his parents proud; Pink hair and purple eyes?! That combination had only been seen 4 times in their kind's history. And all four of them grew up to be mighty heroes. As was tradition, they had the symbol "VI" tattoo'd onto his cheek. It meant 'hero'. (Joppos tattoo their hair and eye colours onto their cheeks. Every two colours form a word, for example, Pink (V) and Purple (I) spells hero. Brown (X) and Brown (X) actually stands for Jester, etc.) Filled with ambition for their child, which more than compensated for his lack of it, they tried to give him everything. Determined to steer him down the path of becoming another great Joppos hero. But, since no-one who knew was alive to tell them, all the VI's in Joppos history were never guided. They all had to find their own way. Their parenting got a tad reckless. When he was 12, they gave him a hypersword (think a lightsabre fused with a taser) and put him into the woods to fight a Kix. Now, if you didn't know what a Kix was, the thought of sending a child to fight anything is horrific. However, when you hear that Kix are large, dog like creatures who are as smart as your average man and are the main predators for Joppos, it becomes damn terrifying. It... didn't go well. He was hungry and sleepy when he finally found a Kix. Or well... when one found him. It leapt from the bushes and growled. The beast barely hesitated before lunging towards him, teeth bared. It slammed him down, claws digging into his shoulders and he screamed. Fortunately, his screw drew the attention of a nearby Ranger. One blast from his gun was enough to wards the Kix off and he then ran to retrieve the child. When he got home his parents were... a tad disapointed. The child they thought would be a hero had been defeated. Of course, they pretended that he snuck out and went into the woods on his own - if the government found out they'd sent him, he'd be taken from them. They couldn't have that. They loved him but if they went through all the effort of making him then they wanted some hero-giver status. They toned it back some. He was still sent to every after-school fitness thing his school/community did, despite his protests. He was both popular at school and shunned at the same time. Some people saw the VI on his face and assumed that he would be stuck up or be treated like he was special while others saw it and thought that he must be really cool. He went to parties. Alot of parties. Lost his space virginity when he was space 17 to a space girl and dated her for a few months after that. Much like his VI marking, it was a double edged sword. The girl was his school's head teacher's space daughter, which only enhanced the effects of his mark. Now people either downright hated him or sucked up to him. While all this unimportant social drama went on, things on the planet in general got worse. The Kix and the Joppos had been warring for years. The Kix's use of shoulder mouted laser guns is one of the reasons for the Joppos' natural resistance to energy. The others were the storms that were extremely regular and the fact alot of their technology was jury rigged and frequently shocked people. And the bad news, was that the Kix were winning. Their intelligence and weaponry were overpowering the Joppos military. It wasn't long before the Kix launched an attack on Riley's own town. Chaos would describe it. In the dead of the night, while a typical storm raged they came. Blasters woke Riley and his family and they went downstairs. They heard shouting and growling outside. Nervously, Riley went towards the door. Pushing the open button, the metal door slid to the side and before he could react, one of the Kix jumped inside and knocked him into the roof with it's head. Disorientated, all he could hear were his parents screaming before silence fell (Well, relative silence, there was a basically a war going on outside remember.). The Kix either took him for dead or thought that it would be more cruel to leave him alive for now, and knowing Kix, the latter was most likely. When he got up, he looked and saw his parents. 30% disintegrated, 60% mauled, 10% shredded and 100% dead. In a panic, he turned and ran, mind racing. He knew there was a port nearby. The 'hero' sprinted, past several who could've used his help and, due to his physical condition, managed to make it there before anyone else. He managed to get the door open and rush inside. When he got the engine running, he zoomed from his planet as fast as he could. Like a coward. Not exactly as heroic and exciting as he's made out to be. If you asked him, he'd tell you some long, convoluted lie about how he fought off 20 Kix with bothing but a wrench. But the truth is that he ran away, like anyone else would. Their hero had fled. However, this was all predestined. All VI show cowardice before they live up to their name. The guilt, the shame, it built up within. His adventures in the stars changed drastically over the next two years. He ran with a gang after they found him aimlessly drifting in space. However, his morality got the better of him and he ended up sabotaging them (to this day they are trapped on a planet that's a hybrid between a desert and a blizzard, survivng off the wildlife and fruit). He ran with the military very briefly and that's where he uhhh.... legitimately acquired his equipment. Captain Riley had many more adventures than that, but his greatest? Well.... Those are still to come. |
The Powers and Weaknesses |
Powers Power 1: Energy Eyes: Joppo's are capable of seeing energy's movements and can switch between which form of energy they're seeing. Be it electrical, kinetic, magnetic, thermal etc. Captain Riley can use this to find out where wires are, how hard someone can punch, see invisible foes etc. Weakness 1: Energy Eyes: Joppo's can only see one form of energy at a time but always most be seeing atleast one. This means, that if they're seeing thermal energy for example, a fire will be nearly blinding. If they're seeing electrical, a lightning storm will have a similar effect. As a general rule, most Joppo's eyes are more sensitive to light and wear goggles to try and negate it, however they only negate slightly above natural levels, so a flashbang will be extra effective and a photokinetic will have a great advantage. Power 2: Energy Resistance: Joppos have an inborn resistance to energy, such as lightning, fire etc (an evolution trait from spending centuries surrounded by faulty ships and lightning storms). They are almost immune to radiation. Weakness 2: Energy Resistance: While resistance, they are definitely not immune. A lightning bolt will still hurt. They may be able to walk through some flames, but they will still get burned if they stay in it for too long. Power 3: Two Hearts: Joppos entire cardiovascular system has evolved over time allowing them to move faster for longer. Essentially, they can go for a long time without getting tired. They can also hold their breathe for longer than average humans ever could. Weakness 3: Dogs: Joppos main predators on their original planet were vicious, dog like creatures who were near sentient in intelligence. As a result of being tormented by them for years, Captain Riley is terrified of anything vaguely resembling canines. He's the fight, not flight type however. RP Mechanics RP Mechanic(s): Enhanced Metabolism: Joppos will heal faster than a normal human, especially if they're eating. (This healing factor has no purpose in threads. It's to explain his healing between threads.) Tasty Blood: Freaky as it sounds, the blood of Joppos tastes delicious. It was one of the main reason they were hunted by the Dog like creatures of their home planet. He shot first: Captain Riley's been in a few scrapes in his time, and knows how to handle himself in a fight pretty well. Knows a few manevuers: Captain Riley is a talented pilot and can transfer these skills to most other vehicles, including earth cars and planes. Items/Minions Item 1: Shock and Awe - Two laser blasters, precious to Captain Riley. The two pistols are almost identical, except where one is pink, the other is purple and vice versa. They work of a recyling system, they suck in 'dormant' energy and convert it into a variety of rounds. They can be concussive, stunning or even emitted in a short range intense flame, acting as a cutter/welder. If a fire is in his way, he could absorb the fire with the pistols and move past, etc. Item 1's weaknesses: Ammunition - In order to be fired, Shock and Awe must absorb energy. Dormant Energy - They can only absorb energy that isn't actively being manipulated/used extensively. For example, he couldn't absorb lightning that is flying towards him with them, as someone is probably controlling it (or he has extremely bad luck). Likewise - If they absorb fire, they're gonna emit fire. If they absorb electricity, they're gonna fire electricity. Unless he has absorbed various types, he doesn't have much choice in what type of bullet they fire. So if he's against an electrokinetic and they're resistant to electricity, his bullets are gonna be basically worthless. Item 2: Gamma Gauntlets - These gauntlets, which fold down several times into relatively subtle bracers store charges and enhance their holders punch and lifting weight. When a charge is triggered, it releases a short burst of Gamma radiation, resulting in burning and heat damage to anything in a cone behind the target hit. They then reverse their purpose and pull this gamma radiation back in and begin recharging, to avoid any unwanted irradiation of the enviroment. Item 2's Weaknesses: Charges - They can only hold a maximum of two charges each (a total of 4) before needing to recharge. Hands Only - The gauntlets only increase the strength in his hands, so he cannot kick with any extreme force, etc. Energy Dependant - An EMP will shut down the gauntlets, forcing them back into their dormant bracer stage. Item 3: Hermes Boots - Captain Riley's boots can enter can overcharge state, allowing him to run/move his legs extremely quickly for a few seconds. While active, he leaves a pink/purple trail from his heels. Item 3's Weaknesses: Dash - These boot's speed charge lasts for about 3 seconds. It takes a few minutes before they can be used again. Steering - Only very basic movements can be made when dashing with these boots. Trying to turn a corner will likely result in smashing into the wall. At high speeds. Unpleasant. Item 4: Icarus - A jetpack system instanlled on Captain Riley's jacket (the back) and on his Hermes Boots (underneath). Thrusters activate and allow for flight. Icarus can be used with great effect when combined with the boot's speed (such as a super fast, rocket kick). While primarily used for flight, it has some defensive/offensive capabilities. For example, a jet of purple flame coming out of your foot is going to make your kicks hurt. Item 4's Weaknesses: The first law - If Captain Riley kicks someone with a rocket boot, he's gonna go backwards as a result. Sometimes this can be good, sometimes it can be extremely bad. Situational. Water - "CAUTION: DOESN'T WORK WHEN WET" -Icarus instruction manual Item 5: Blast Shield - A kinetic dampener, located on his belt buckle. It surrounds Captain Riley with a translucent darkish blue, skin tight barrier, allowing him to take physical blows that would turn mostt organics into a red smudge. Item 5's Weaknesses: Kinetic - Only blocks kinetic energy. He'll have to rely on his natural resistances for anything else. Recharge - If the shield is broken, it takes some time to come back online. Item 6: Sonic Booms - Concussive sonic grenades. Simple. Item 6's weaknesses: Limited - Captain Riley usually only carries 3 of them at a time. Loud - While he himself has some ear protection in the form of headphones, his allies may not. Sonokinetics - Sonokinetics can essentially just 'nope' these by stopping them from going off. ----------Minion---------- Pepper "He stole me. Someone should help me but apparently no-one cares." Backstory: Pepper came with Riley's ship when he um... acquired it. It was useful but he found it ridiculously dull, so with abit of jury rigging, managed to integrate a lower form of AI into the translation bot. It is now Pepper, and, while loyal, it's certainly not happy with it's company. Abilities: Audio Manipulation - Pepper can translate most known languages from anything, into anything else. It can be done aloud or through Captain Riley's headphones. She can also speak in the voices of others. This power also lets her tap into the internet, radio etc. of whatever Planet she's on and play music. This can be done privately to Riley, or aloud through her speakers. She can slightly concentrate the sound into a dazing, short range pulse. Flight - Pepper can fly. Tough - Pepper is very tough. This is due to both the alloy she's made off and an integrated forcefield. Weaknesses: 1: Battery - Pepper sacrifices a large portion of her battery in order to emit the dazing pulse. 2: Altitude - Pepper can only fly about 15 feet into the air before her jets don't let her go any further. 3: Screw you - Pepper can be tempermental, not just as a machine, but as a person. Passive Agressive and often difficult to get along with. Her hardware can occasionally glitch as well. 4: Combat - Pepper is not designed for combat and won't really know what to do. She's not stupid and knows some basics, but, as a small, floating sphere, she can't really do much. 5: Delay - It takes a few seconds for her sonic pulse to charge. 6: Sonokinetics/Technokinetics/EMPs - These will generally screw her over pretty bad. Physical Priority: 1. Endurance 2. Reaction 3. Agility 4. Strength Physical Priority 1. Endurance 2. Agility 3. Strength 4. Reaction |
