Re: Utopia Under The Waves
"Of course I'd love to stick around. I'm not looking to leave immediately. I've just heard certain things that made me rather...wary about the subject of the potential of returning." Matt explained his hesitations and anxieties. Of course he wasn't expecting the woman to care, though the explanation would likely make sense. Or so he hoped anyways. "Though one never knows with the whole "expiring" concept. For all I know I'll walk outta here and get struck by-" He stopped in mid sentence. His usual saying was "Lightning" but in an undersea dome that didn't seem real likely. He also would say car, but... he paused and laughed, realizing that the dangers of being here were much different.
"I'm sure you understand the premise. But I understand you." He finally concluded with a smile and then a sudden bout of quiet from him as he tried to formulate his next sentence very thoroughly. He first wished to see if the Matron herself had any real questions, or if she would try dismissing them. He also wanted to give Alexander one last shot at the apple to get questions out of the way. Though he began to contemplate the concept of this city.
Meta-humans galore it would seem. People of all different walks of life, all different genders and all different ethnicities. He even noticed that the whole concept of powers would be useful. However the city was in GRAVE danger should there ever be a villainous person brought here. A metallokinetic would shred this place and flood it all on a whim. There were many things that would need to be thought of to make this possible. Primarily the "dealing" with those who would be a threat to the city. Then you'd need to worry about monopoly and cruel Capitolism. Unless they dealt with successful businessmen the same way they as the villains. Though that would always impact and cause the economy to shift and collapse.
Then it hit him. If a successful "Tycoon" were to have power, and he were to simply "vanish" then the economy would rupture. However, as a universal principle energy and power cannot be destroyed... but it can be transferred. If they "gave" some of the tycoon's resources to smaller businesses it causes them to flourish...and become tycoons and STILL keep the economy in perfect balance. At that rate then it was a cycle...like plants. however it made Matthew wonder. In the end...WHAT was the farmer reaping out of this? What resources could one possibly get form such a closed economy such as this?
That sparked another idea. Where were the merchants getting their goods from? If they were created...where does one get the materials from the bottom of the goddamn ocean? They were getting supplies from somewhere. This place was not self-sufficient. It couldn't be, not with so little resources available at the ocean floor. Something was going on here...the small economy reaping concept...the gathering of metahumans... he didn't like this...he didn't like it at all.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
So he was willing to stick around, or was that more of something to placate the matron that sat before them? ”Wary about the subject of returning?” An interested hum reverberated through her voice as one fiery eyebrow raised, something about the statement seeming to catch her interest. Something about the statement seemed to catch Alexander’s interest, but he did not really let that show save for chewing on his lower lip, and reclining within his seat. ’Well, I hope my city has not been too much of a disappointment to you two.” She continued, looking to Alexander who only shaking his head as if to say that it was indeed not one. ”Well unless you two have any more questions, I’m sure I could have you escorted to some…chambers for the night, and we can talk about returning to the surface tomorrow when both of you have properly rested.” The female suggested reclining within her seat, joints seeming o audibly squeak as she looked to the two for some kind of response.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
"The city is amazing, I was just... I meant no disrespect." Matt said with a slight sigh, of course the one time his charisma would fail him would be right here and right now. It was how fate worked with him it would seem. He heard her continue on to say if they had no other questions she could have them escorted to chambers. That was reassuring, though Matt was hoping that he wouldn't be too far isolated form his friends. Rather his friend and the other two weirdo's. He nodded as he leaned forward, as if he did have something else to say.
"Actually, I do have another...real quick question." Matt said with a little smile as he withdrew the rolled up Wanted paper for the person known as "The Minister", and he produced the flyer to the woman. He then produced the Bible that the was within the empty house where he had retrieved it from. Matthew slid the bible, not knowing that he just handed The Minister's greatest weapon to the matron. At this rate, if the Minister were truly a threat...Matthew had just disarmed a nuclear war. "What do you guys know about this man?" He asked nonchalantly as he leaned in, elbows on his thighs and listening intently. There was nothing taking up his attention. After he received his answer he would be ready to depart, however he couldn't help but feel something stirring inside him.
When they were ready they could be escorted. Matthew knew he was perhaps being too "picky", but he's much have preferred a room nearby his friends, and one with a window to be sure...but that was not likely going to happen, he felt more like a prisoner at this point. He also didn't want to need to share a room with his friends and the weirdo's, however he would much prefer that to anything else. If her were forced to part ways he would leave Alex with his regeneration, knowing that he could care for himself without his regenerative powers. He had done it before...he could do it again.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
The red haired female nodded a few times, making understanding hums with each words that the male spoke, hands crossed neatly within her lap. However something changed within her expression upon being showed a strange flyer with a man’s face on it and a bible along with it. The female took both, examining the things handed to her for a moment, humming lightly to herself and then looking to the male that had offered these to her. ”This man is what you would call a terrorist. Known for causing wanton destruction and things of that nature.” She noted simply placing the bible down upon her desk and letting the flier fall front first as well, looking Matthew directly in the eyes. With that done, she motioned for someone to lead the two off to their own quarters, two rooms within the large tower, both beside each other and well furnished.
Almost as if reading their thoughts or something along those lines, food had been left there already along with whatever drink the person would have usually enjoyed. In fact, everything was eerily to the person’s tastes, far beyond Alexander’s levels of comfort. Bare feet felt the warmth of the carpeting below them, brushing against the flesh and seeming to fix the cold that the usual metallic flooring brought him. The young English male plopped down on the bed that sat within a corner, examining the food carefully, before leaving it alone and simply leaning back against the wall and sighing lightly to himself. He was expecting Matt to contact him in some way, or simply come to his room, or something else. For now however the male would let his mind process everything and then work from there.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
That wasn't nearly a sufficient answer, however there would be plenty of time for him to investigate. No sooner had he gotten to his room had he planned on ditching the area. There were no real sanctions on him leaving the room...though he was certain he would be monitored by anything and everything. No that it would matter. Even though the red-headed ruler (unbeknownst to Matthew) could now remember and perceive him normally, the cameras themselves would be useless in following his pursuits. He sat on the nice and rather comfy bed, welcoming the soft pillow on the back of his head.
He felt himself starting to drift off. Without his regenerative powers there was a lot of toll on himself that his body needed to recover from. That or he could simply take the regeneration back, but it required him to get in touch with Alex. Literally, which at the moment proved to not be a real issue. He let out a little hum, the sound vibrating with the edge of irritation. There was no longer any strange issues or frustrations...only confusion and intrigue. Matthew, for now would simply accept the fact he knew nothing of the situation and sit up quickly with a grunt and piercing eyes glancing around the room. This didn't feel right in the slightest. He stood up and walked over towards the door, opening it and closing the door, eyes scanning about. He proceeded to look around for any form of watching device. He hummed before opting to take the simple way out. He began to focus as hard as possible, trying to draw forth the energy he needed.
Transmuting himself into liquid, he slithered and slipped through the door, forming up on the other side and crossing his arms, hoping that Alex hadn't really seen him do that. If he had it would be no harm no foul...but regardless it's good to not be too much of a freak. "I couldn't find my teddy bear, so I figured If I can't sleep then neither can you." He said. If he hadn't been seen originally, he had been seen now.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Despite the comfort that the bed had given him, Alexander could not find himself falling to sleep on it, eyes half lidded as he let his mind wander over minor thoughts. They were in a strange place, one that Ale could not quite comprehend, yet his mind was already trying to think up a thousand different ways to explain it. Somehow he, Matt and a few others were brought to this alien place and they were face to face with the mysterious red haired woman that ran it. His mind would snap to his father and noticing that the English male was gone, but something told him that he would not notice, likely only assume that he was off somewhere and go back to drinking. Yet something like that was one of the only reason’s he was grateful for an inattentive parent, they would never ask annoying questions.
The sound of a voice snapped him from his trance, eyes opening wide and looking upon the tan male that had appeared within the room. Alexander paused for a moment, considering the male that was before him, yawning slightly as he ran fingers over his own stomach. A small amount of light was filtering in through the window, but a small lamp offered more than enough illumination to make it clear who this visitor was; if his voice did not make that obvious before. Leaning forward, he let the pleased expression slip across his face at both hearing and seeing his friend appear within his room, though how he did so the male could not quite tell.
”Well it’s lucky for me that I wasn’t planning to sleep.” He would reply, slinking from the bed slowly, letting his feet embrace the warmth of the carpeting, something in his gut telling him that he would not feel it again for a while.”So…I would assume you have some kind of plan, sneaking into my room like that.” He said with a slightly curious undertone, letting the accent flow fully into his speech as he looked to Matt as if waiting for some kind of answer.
--
The mistress reclined within her office chair, glaring at the leather bound bible that had belonged to the minister, something about it annoying her with each second that passed by. Lying next to it was the flyer that had been dropped on her desk, by the strange male who looked so familiar that was eating away at her. A low agitated hum escaped from her mouth as she tapped a couple of times upon her chin, painted fingers nails producing a low thudding sound as she did so. ”I’ll have to look more carefully into this.” She muttered, turning her head for a moment, as if having seen a shadow but nothing was there; sighing she turned back to the bible. ”I wonder where you are now.” She mused to herself, picking the bible up and leaving the office through a sliding door, walking further into the compound.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
"Indeed I do have a plan." Matt said, picking up one of the nice looking chocolate frosted cupcakes. He swiftly swiped at Alex's cheek, aiming to leave a slight frosting mark on his face. Matt smirked and arched an eyebrow. "What? I told you I was gonna ice whoever said "Atlantis"....and you did." He said, playing the rods on what ice means and how it was used in the context of the sentence.
"There were a LOT of other ways to do it, but this was the best and required less energy." Matt said as he looked around and placed the cupcake down. He picked the nearest area, the foot of the bed or the window indent, or the chair or whatever it may be and he sat. He thought to himself for a moment and he finally came to the realization that he had no idea as to what he should be doing right now. He had no plan. He found himself rather...irritated by this. He heard something, a ringing noise. It seemed like the television on the wall rotated with clock-work and twisted to reveal a telephone. It was rather interesting, but Matthew found himself looking to Alex, as if wondering who were to pick it up. It was obviously his room, so was he supposed to answer it, or was he going to make Matt. Either way the phone stopped ringing, and they were left in silence.
Matt looked to Alex with an odd look. Something was all too strange about that, but what were they to do? It seems as if, for the first time, Matthew was unable to formulate a plan. He was a step behind. He was completely lost, and he didn't like it. Anger and irritation stirred within him as he looked to Alex, he smiled nicely enough, but deep within, the seeds had been sewn.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Alexander’s eyes widened marginally as the cupcake was drawn along his cheek, leaving a residue of dark colored frosting. He was barely aware of a small amount of color drawing along the pale cheeks as his hand quickly shot up, feeling the substance clinging to the spot. It was a slightly appropriate spot, considering that he was not really used to people painting his face with a cupcake. Granted it seemed that he had brought this upon himself, but that did not really stop the small amount of embarrassment from springing up. What drew him from that mind set was the sound of a phone ringing, even though he did not remember there being a phone within the room; head snapping to the phone. It would ring for a small while before going silent, Matthew looking to him as if wondering if he would answer it.
The male gave him a curious look, raising an eyebrow before looking back to the phone as if contemplating what that was exactly. ”I wonder what that was.” Alexander muttered to himself, eyes narrowing slightly as he adjusted the glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose. This situation was a strange one, yet considering everything that was happening it was not really any stranger. Alexander threw his legs over the edge of the bed and let his mind fall back to working, thinking over what it was that they could do in a situation like this. Standing to his feet, alexander looked out the window that seemed to peer over the city, a scape that was still far too large to see the edge of from here. They were likely in the heart of the underwater civilization and something about that only brought up a sort of primal fear.
He opened his mouth to speak, yet before that could happen something loudly exploded. His eyes darted about, looking to Matt finally. ”What the hell was that?” Alexander muttered to himself wiping away the small amount of frosting that clung to his cheek. Something was happening in the tower and he could not quite place what that was.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Of course, there would be an explosion. He looked to Alex who seemed to actually swear. Granted, the accent made it 100% better, but to be honest it wasn't the appropriate time to tease him for his accent. The Tower seemed to rumble, as if threatening to crumble, though it did not. He looked to Alex and shrugged, the hair standing on it's ends and his eyes shifting around like a startled predator. He stood, clasping the wall, expecting another rough and tumble. He quickly began to formulate the best course of action, to which he looked at Alex and said simply.
"I hope it's not a wake-up call." He made a half-hearted joke, before feeling a swelling in his abdomen, a great pressure forming. He groaned as he found himself curious. "Stay safe." Matt said as he seemed to head out and investigate, though the way it was said was easily opened to interpretation. It could mean "stay here" or stay safe while you follow me...or the generic and literal "stay safe" no matter what the male opted to do. Matt shot out the door and looked around to seeing armed humanoids running about the halls, seeming battle ready as they pulled out gun-like weapons.
Matthew was unsure if they were after him, if they were simply going to reinforce an area or enact protocol. However he DID know that regardless, he was getting out of here to check things out. If he had to incapacitate another three or four guards...then so be it. He was well prepared, though he wondered if they would potentially lead to some answers. Lord knows Matthew needed more than he was given by the untrustworthy red-head.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Wake up call or not, something had happened to the tower and he would find out what it was. Alexander was hoping that the two would not fall down with them in it, but if it did, then they were screwed, or Matt was at any rate. That being if he still was without that amazing regeneration of his, the one that saved his skin a few times over anyway. With only a few words Matt was running off, leaving the male alone in the room and this was not a place that he would want to be alone. So Alexander did the only thing that he could do in a situation like this, and that was running after the male. Luckily he was not any form of track star, otherwise he would have found it difficult to keep up with him, considering his abysmal speed.
Armed people were milling about the hallways, as if reacting to whatever it was that had caused the explosion, yet something reached his ears. A low whistling, masculine sounding and haunting within its own way, a sound that caused the very hairs along the back of his neck to raise. It sounded so close, and yet he could not tell where it was coming from, eyes darting about and only seeing nothing, save for the people milling about to their posts. They paid the two very little mind, which was good enough within its own right. Part of him wondered if they could just move through and look for a way back home, yet that did not seem too possible at the moment, adjusting his glasses as he peered around the corner; some of the men taking a stairwell down to lower levels.
The place was in a state of panic and that did not bode well. However two of these guards took notice of them, aiming what looked like guns at the two and then demanding to know who they were, Alexander freezing up for a moment, and looking at the barrels of the weapons aimed at them.
--
Clouds of black smoke billowed from the room known as the lab, rising up to the ceiling and then going for any exit that it could. The Matron crossed arms over her chest and watched it unfold, green eyes narrowing sharply before a low annoyed sound issued from her lips. Small footsteps sounded off from behind her, the female whipping around, expecting someone else but the surprise was still palpable. A tan male in a simple wife beater and faded jeans stood before her, wearing a strange hat and with a book attached to his belt. ”My, what a mess we have here.” He said in a rather blank tone, watching the fire that was raging within the lab.
Re: Utopia Under The Waves
"We are here as guests of the matron, mistress...oh to Hell with this." Matt said with a scoff as his arms shot out as tendrils, wrapping around the weapons, instantly aiming them to the side in one swift motion. That done in the guards had no choice put to release the weapons (in which case Matthew would retract his tendrils back to their initial form, armed with a rifle.) or they would wrestle to free them from the tendrils. (+2 Strength) which would be rather difficult considering the current adrenalin rush. One of the guard was nice enough to let go, the other drawing a pistol from a holster in the back. Matt cursed himself for being as much of a "man of faith" as he was. It was timed like this where he despised his strong desire to kill no one.
He felt a tugging from within him and instantly Gleipnir fired out and wrapped around the guards, sapping them into submission and then into a lulled state of an unconscious nature. The guns were released by the men and Matthew pulled back the tendrils into arms. He turned to see Alex and bit his lip and turned to punch a wall. "DAMNIT" he cursed as he shook his hand with a seething hiss of pain between his teeth. Great, Alexander just watched him turn into a dark and dusky blue-tendril armed freak. Wonderful.
There was a sharp pain in his abdomen as he began to burn from the inside, though he gave no physical sign of malady...beyond the cursing and the seething presence of anger and frustration. Soon his eyes began to ache, and before he knew it...he felt calm, collected...amused maybe. He dropped a gun on the ground, leaving it for Alex if he so decided to take it, but he kept one to himself, leaning down and taking a small sea-shell like chip device from the man's ear. He placed it in his own, hoping to hear something, or anything interesting about what was going on.
"Take his ear piece." He said, his voice a bit more coarse than before, but nothing drastic enough to cause one to freak out. The way he ordered it was authoritative to be true, but the undertone was practically enough to tell one "Or don't and die, I don't care". He stepped forward, the chains themselves snaking around him like six serpents with venomous sparks seeping from them and cracking. The red-ribbons spiraled and swirled, little shocks of energy zapping Matt, but leaving him unharmed.
"Looks like It's time to find me some answers..." He said, more to himself, but out loud enough for Alexander to hear him. The chatter inside the sea-shell device in his ear was all pointless thus far, it simply said something about a "lab" "The lab... why that's not clichéd, is it?" He scoffed, rolling his eyes as he stepped forward, the rifle slung over his back casually as he walked.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
The excuse would have worked, if the woman’s title had been mentioned but before anything could be said of it, Matthew seemed to deal with the guards with tendrils...sprouting from his own body. Could he do that before? Alexander pondered that to himself as he had watched it happen, yet he was unsure how to react at this point, eyes widening as he looked from the tan male to those that he had incapacitated. Of course he could ask the painfully obvious question of what had happened, yet something told him that it would be a most unwelcome question, so he kept his mouth shut; even though his facial expression probably said everything. He even found himself flinching upon seeing the male slam a fist into the wall, though it was more a reflex upon seeing aggression more than anything; no real expectations were made about the aggression being turned upon him.
Matt was acting strangely, something about him different than before and that change only pushing the male into the realm of unease as he looked at the gun within his hand. Well, the excessive cursing may have been a large hint upon that as well as something within his gut that was just tell him. A gun would find itself dropping to the ground with a resounding clattering sound as Matt drew something from one of the guards ears, placing it in his own before speaking to Alexander, not even turning towards him. The sound of his voice was different, not by too much but enough to know that there was something happening; a something that he did not like at all. Of course he planned to listen to the order, something about it leaving him with no real room to deny it if he wanted to.
Approaching one of the fallen guards, he would pick out one of the ear pieces and examine it briefly before placing it within his ear. There was pointless chatter on the end of the ear piece, something about a lab and a large amount of fire pouring from that area. So it seemed that they had arrived in the underwater city at a most inopportune time, considering the whole building being attacked as soon as they had decided to stay for a night. His friend spoke of finding answer, yet he was unsure what answers the male was looking for and what that feeling was in his gut. The gun that lay at his feet was a strange pistol, one that he could not quite place, but it was a weapon; something that could help in the situation. Reaching down, he picked up the weapon and examined it, eyes narrowing for a moment before widening. This would prove to be useful, if he had to use it on someone.
He would follow after Matthew now, occasionally adjusting his glasses and keeping the gun within his left hand, the weight of it abysmal. The two would slowly move through the hallway, not really meeting any resistance, only the flashing red lights that leapt from the emergency lights that clung on the upper parts of the wall. Something about them added a darker tone to the floor as a whole, it was not good at all. The sound of metallic groaning could be heard amongst the loud ringing, blending with the loud sounds yet it was loud enough that only someone half deaf could not hear it. The sound of breaking glass could then be heard in the distance as the two reached what appeared to be a stair well, one that would allow them to descend further into the building; place flashing with the red lights as well.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
They had made it to the stairwell, Matthew felt himself harden over, whatever had claimed him momentarily had faded mostly, though he no longer cared for the circumstance. In truth the only thing binding him from his escape was the fact his escape left Alexander rather stranded in this new little world. Perhaps he felt like the kid was a friend. Matthew cringed at that notion. He liked friends...but it was because his friend saw what a freak he was that triggered him to get so angry. He returned to his state of total tranquility, making sure not to be more emotional than his "trigger" could handle. Things were almost bad there. Matt looked back, saw Alex and continued on, partially grateful that the male followed him. He would have felt guilty if the male didn't follow him and ended up killed. Matthew descended the stairs and kept the heavy gun trained ahead, ready for whatever may jump out. He made it half way down the stairs before the chatter in his ear piece suddenly stopped. Matthew froze for a second and his eyes darted across the stairwell.
"I hope that didn't rattle you too hard. I tried to warn you but you didn't seem like picking up your room phones." A voice came over the shell-pieces in the ears. The voice was thick, Irish accent to it, but there was also seemingly a light and heavily peace that seemed to flow form the words. "Unfortunately, you've just been drug into a rather dark revolution. The Mistress of this society is not what she seems... I would meet with the both of you, however I'm afraid that is rather...impossible at this moment. Continue on to the Lab. I will reach out the moment I become...available." The voice said, the background noise was that of gunfire before it cut out. Matthew stopped and looked back to Alex, as if asking if he heard the same thing. Matthew was unsure if he could trust this voice...for multiple reasons... the primary being that he didn't know the motives of the person instructing them. Matt would slip through the doors only to find himself at a locked door, programed with a pad-lock and a number lock. It was well sealed...there was obviously something behind this door, and given where they were at it wasn't an ocean-floor bound door.
"Great..." Matthew sighed as he looked to Alex, as if wondering what to do.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Flashing red lights cast their glare over the male’s pale flesh, eyes somewhat luminescent within the dim light. The pistol was held tightly within his right hand, as if ready to be used at the slightest provocation; even if the male had no idea how to properly use such a weapon. It was all point and click, to use computer terminology, except he expected his accuracy to be way off. Alexander jerked to a stop once the chatter on the ear pieces ceased, looking around as if expecting something to happen, like the entire collapse of the stairwell or something equally deadly to them. Yet what happened was…still surprising. A male voice began to speak over the two ear pieces, a thick Irish accent and from what it sounded like, the person was talking to them.
He spoke about some kind of revolution and how they had been drug into it, the words holding a dark undertone to them. What kind of revolution had they been dragged into and how did it include this mistress? The sound of gunfire cutting out the transmission did not bode well either, further supporting the idea that the man behind the voice was the one that had started all of this. The two makes would walk on, until they reached what looked like a locked door; the only way through being a number lock. There was obviously something behind the well-sealed door, but the question would be how they got through it. Matthew would look to him as if expecting Alex to know what to do, and he did not. So all he could do was cock an eyebrow back at the male, as if silently asking what he were expecting him to do.
However, while that was happening a small beeping sound escaped from the door, following by a green light as the lock seemed to undo itself. Now all they would need to do was open the door and find what lay beyond it.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
Well this was something new. The high-tech door would simply unlock itself? Was this part of the same thing that allowed Matthew to simply unlock the houses earlier? No, it couldn't have ben. The boy Alex was there with him. He let out a little hum, feeling more like himself before he sighed. His mind was conflicted and his attentions were divided, making for a very interesting noise of irritancy to seep from him, like a child whining "come on" but a dog growling threateningly. With the door down there was a rather interesting set up, much of it was a mix and cross breed between steam-punk and total Sci-fi, which was almost amusing to see the severe contrasts so casually scattered about. The layout was impressive, and Matthew thought for sure that there would be more in here...but thus far it seemed as if there was nothing here...just...a lot of stains on the ground.
Curiosity wanting to skin the Matt beckoned him to investigate the stains a little further, only to find that the dark brownish and red tinges were sadly what Matthew had suspected them to be. It was terrible to know that the iron rich blood-stains were decorating the floor like a scene of a homicide. However, what was so oddly familiar was that the stains looked, in no way whatsoever, new or recent. It was unnerving. Matthew couldn't help but notice a laptop and he wondered over towards it, seeing the last "users" E-mail. He hummed, knowing that an E-mail like this, would need to function on a closed circuit of information and data. The last E-mail received was from a source labeled as "Utopia", "Well that's weird. A city is sending messages to workers?" He murmured, clicking the email open he couldn't help but notice in a bright yellow box with flashing red letters it said QUARANTINED. Being that it caught his attention first he looked up to read the rest, lightly and quietly to himself. The mail was a bulk mail...an important announcement to every lab stating that this part of the lab. The part where Alex and Matt were....it was Quarantined, due to suspicious behavior and apparent insanity. The belief was that their "Subject" was causing them to lose thir minds. Matt just shook his head eyes narrowed in disbelief.
"What kind of crap is that?" He scoffed before leaving it up for Alexander to read as he began to look around. Matt felt no fear at this moment...somehow he knew everything was alright...for now anyway. He allowed his "alertness" to fall for but a moment before he sighed and began to look around, seemingly entertaining himself by looking through old books and notes, as well as an unfinished game of solitaire from over sixteen years ago...
Alexander would have free reign of the laptop, and Matthew would continue to explore, though he wondered if Alex might find anything of use, as his own search was proving fruitless. Normally it seemed as though there were audio-files or some form of inkling as to what happened...but right now there were only two things Matt knew for certain. The first.... That they had gotten into some seriously heavy drama between little miss fire-ball and preacher-boy. The second... A lab like this...should NOT be left unguarded or lack protocol for defending it or sealing in that which got in.

Re: Utopia Under The Waves
It was not every day that doors opened themselves, but Alexander would not let Matt walk through it alone, not considering what was happening to the underwater city. The male walking only a few steps ahead of him let out an annoyed noise, one that was reminiscent of an annoyed dog growling, something that caught his interest and caused him to give Matthew a somewhat curious look. Dull lights would flicker alive as they walked through the door, revealing the strange lab. It was a strange amalgamation of both steam punk and sci-fi sensibilities, yet something about it seemed functional about it. The lab itself however was not full of much, though the eerie stains that splattered the ground sent a shudder up his spin, Alexander nervously licking his lips. It appeared to be dried blood, but something within him wanted to believe that it was something else, even if he had seen worst before.
He would let the male look over things while he did a little digging of his own, taking note of a small row of blood stained file cabinets, most of them dinged and stained with the same dark red substance that was scattered across the floor. He pulled one of the drawers out with a low metallic sound. Fingers dancing over the marked Manila folders, some of them ripped and others stained with blood. However the header of one caught his interest and the title of it was “Utopia”. It was the one that was externally least damaged, which dug at his curiosity, as he pulled it from the drawer and let the icy blue orbs dance over it for a moment.
What exactly was it that he found? The folder itself was full of small papers and things of that nature, practically pregnant with information. A low scoff from Matt caught his attention as he turned away from a laptop, Alexander pressing the strange folder to his side and then approaching the laptop, eyes scanning over the screen for a moment. He placed the folder down beside the laptop and began to scan the files, takin note of the email’s and their rather…strange message. Some were mundane concerns and one of them spoke of “the find of the century” yet nothing was mentioned beyond that, followed by the strange attacks. Could this find have anything to do with the subjects and their insanity? Alexander mused over this, rubbing his chin, turning to Matthew for a moment before returning to what he was doing. A few more keystrokes yielded something else, video files; blurry ones to be sure, but video files nonetheless.
Most of them seemed rather routine, scientists recording their work, yet the last one was somewhat morbid, as it consisted of only one thing. A low demonic reverb within the back ground, one that drew a primal fear from within him as a person screamed in the background. Then there was a sickening squishing sound and then silence, followed by footsteps, ones that echoed loudly, even through the recording, and then the feed shut off. Alexander blinked for a couple of seconds, chewing on his lower lip and feeling his heartbeat skyrocketing. Without even thinking about it, the shut the laptop and turned around, cradling the files under his arm and looking to Matt. ”Matt…I think we should get out of here.” Alexander noted a little uncomfortable, a strange feeling nagging at the back of his head. Something within him told that they were not alone, a strange presence was nearing, and they would not want to be there when it arrived.
