Noob Questions

So I'm making my character sheet. And I wanted to know the answers to some questions.

1. Do I need an Occult score to use Magic?
1a. If so, what is the relation between the two? I haven't found anything about this in the rules.

2. Do Occult and Intelligence both function as "knowledge" of a sort? Meaning, if I have 4 Occult and 0 Intelligence, am I average, or stupid?

3. Is there a point to having magic, but no spells?

The first 3 levels of occult and intelligence are the same, so having one means you don't need the other. unless you want to make a character with an extremely high understanding of both magic and science. higher levels in occult mean a greater understanding of magic and the paranormal, whereas intelligence here pertains more to science and such. Metagame-wise, high intelligence scores allow you to create technology based items and high occult scores allow you to create magical items.

While you don't technically "need" an occult score to use magic, since it represents knowledge of the paranormal magic-based characters will generally have some points in here. (It also, as stated earlier, allows for the creation of magic items.)

And no, there wouldn't be much of a point of not having spells and putting points in magic. It would be like putting points in Ability without giving your character any powers.

1. if my character has no powers, but instead relies of gadgets etc, would I use ability points to get better technology or would I just use INT?

2. Would I be able to use OCC and INT together and form magical technology?

INT will allow you to create better gadgets, and is the main stat for a gadget-based character.

2. I also asked, if i had a character who's robotic suit could shoot missles, would i have to use ability points to get stronger missles, similar to powers?

If you had a suit like iron mans you can make a full 30 point grid to represent his our her powers while in the suit, and just include a grid for your character outside of the suit.

BUt do you not get more points for it?

For example, if your character had 8 INT outside of his suit, and 8 in Occult, and like 5 in magic etc.

Would it change whenever he was inside the suit? Because he suddenly wouldn't lose intelligence or occult powers, or spells whilst inside a robotic suit.

No, your intelligence/occult as well as fighting skills would have to be the same inside and outside the suit.

but suits that provide a constant boost are better represented this way, since stat-boosting gadgets and artifacts are for temporary boosts. Weapons however, can be made with INT or OCC.

Are you automatically metahuman if you take an ability?

Generally spesking, but it is ultimately up to the pkayer. Ryo, for example, has an ability score to represent hishis ki abilities rather than a super power.

How do tournaments work? Both hosting them and participating.

How do you know who you'll be fighting? Does the host organize it?

It's all up to the host, pretty much. The tournament running right now is a quest put up by the phantom, who used a challonge bracket (an online tool for making tournament brackets.) to help organize it and randomize who faces who. We don't have regular tournaments or anything here, but anyone can make any kind of quest.
