Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

Beat
Kind of a rough draft, but I'm lazy. Artifacts and an app for Urs coming shortly.
Born Name: Kaito Akihota
Public Name: Beat
Title: Called "Brother Beat" by the children he takes care of. He also uses this handle for his music work.
Alignment: Hero
Age: 50 (Physically 24)
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Religious Views: Atheism
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Height: 6'7''
Weight: 160 lbs
Costume Description/Image: "A costume? That's kind of lame, ya know?"
Personality: At first impression Beat seems to be laid back, nihilistic, and narcissitic. Which he is, but he hides many other qualities as well. The ideals he has are uncompromisable, and he's willing to do anything for the children he cares for in his orphanage. He has difficulty trusting or relying on others, and holds himself to a very high standards. Because skill in most things comes naturally to him, he can be a bit arrogant. His unflappable demeanor may be largely due to his personality, but it is also a requirement for the dangerous magic he wields. Despite how seriously he takes what is important to him, he lives life somewhat haphazardly and a bit hedonistically. He is quite flirtatious, and is typically most active at night. He smokes cigarrettes constantly and he has a dependency on several types of pills, he claims he needs them to keep his magic under control. He has a disdain for authority and especially G.U.N.. Though he uses his magic to protect innocents he does not identify himself as a "Hero."
History: Kaito was the only son of an immigrant man from Japan, and a California native. Born in San Francisco California. Though he was brought up under strict discipline, his parents loved and doted on him and he led a happy normal life for 8 years. Not long after his eighth birthday a villain fleeing authorities went on a rampage through the city of San Francisco. His destructive powers were too much for local authorities to handle, and G.U.N. was called in. G.U.N. managed to stop the villain only after billions in property damage, many injuries, and two deaths. G.U.N. was showered with praise and admiration for keeping loss of life to a minimum, and stopping the villain. To the son of those two casualties though, the villain took away his entire world. It was then that Kaito's disdain for G.U.N., and authority in general, began. Kaito was put into the foster care system, but rebelled against it and ran away to live as a homeless orphan. Refusing to rely on others, he lived on the streets for years. Though homeless, Kaito still attended school and made a 4.0 straight until graduation. He had an incredible innate talent for learning, and had surpassed his teachers in knowledge by the time he graduated. Despite being a straight A student, outside of school he lived a much less exemplary life. By the time he reached high school he was living on his own, scraping together a living with part-time work, music gigs, internet scams, and drug trade. By the time he graduated he had earned enough of a reputation for the tracks he produced and distributed online to make a decent living applying his trade as a DJ and producer.
He used these finances to become a career student, attending all manner of courses throughout the country, though rarely actually finishing any. Beat's thirst for knowledge was insatiable, but he moved on once he had learned all he could from others around him. It was while attending a philosophy lecture that Beat's destiny was changed. The man giving the lecture was one Cornelius Caster, and even without trying he could sense the innate magic power in Kaito. He approached Kaito for a private discussion, where he revealed his magical nature and offered to teach Kaito. Kaito was an excellent study, and Cornelius saw a younger, brasher version of himself in Kaito. Like most things, magic came quickly to Kaito. He excelled in the art, mastering beginner spells in matters of days or weeks. Kaito continued studying under Cornelius off and on for years, becoming an expert magician in his own right. Some of the time he spent learning was alongside a young Elena Marie, though it seems she has lost all memory of Beat and her goals now sit opposite his own. It was while pouring over old volumes that Cornelius gave him access to that he discovered tales of wizards attempting to manipulate aither, or mana, or ka. despite the different names, they all were said to be the raw source of magic. In secret Kaito studied this, drawing together all the scarce accounts and research he could from the ancient tomes, and finally experimenting with it himself. Though he found he had the power alone to tap into the mysterious power, it was too much for him to control. Obsessed with gaining the power to never be helpless again, Beat journeyed across the globe in search of ancient artifacts to increase his control and power. By this time He could control his body to slow its aging significantly, and he discarded his identity as Kaito Akihota to be known only by "Beat." Eventually in Egypt he found the bracelets of Shu, which are now embedded into his wrists. These powerful artifacts allowed him unprecedented control over his body and magic, allowing him to completely stop his body from aging and begin to exert control over the source of magic, which he dubbed "Incarnum." Cornelius eventually learned of both the artifacts Beat used to take shortcuts in learning magic, and of the dangerous magic he was learning. Cornelius felt that Beat had the potential to become one of the most powerful magic-users in the world, if not the most powerful, but he did not approve of his methods or his work with the incarnum. He implored him to stop his foolishness and allow him to continue teaching him properly. Beat decided he had learned all he could from Cornelius. Despite their amiable relationship, Beat parted ways with Cornelius and has not seen him since.
Beat continued his travels, his music work as well as other scheme supplying him with plenty of finances. He spent years practicing his magic and collecting artifacts from around the world. It was during this time he came across the guilt-stricken Urs Voigt on his deathbed. Beat was able to cure the man of his strange affliction, and they became traveling partners for some time. By the time he returned to America, he was one of the most powerful magical individuals on Earth. He went back to his home state of California, and founded an orphanage there to help children in situations similar to his own as a child. Many of the children there have had their lives uprooted by superhuman activity. Though he is rarely actually present at the facility he funds, his good friend and reformed villain, Urs Voigt, cares for and protects the children on a daily basis. He continues his travels, leaving for a few years and then returning to his orphanage. Though he more than occasionally uses his powers to aid others he doesn't align himself with any "super heroes" and has so far kept his powers and activities out of the public eye.
Relations with Organizations:
Beat has no interest in the magic families, and for the most part stays away from them. Though his power is enough to attract a family's attention, so far keeping a low profile has kept interaction at a minimum.
Dominus: Beat knows of Dominus' existence, but precious little else. He has managed to stay off their radar, but with events unfolding as they are Beat will no longer be able to sit on the sidelines.
Thrones: Like Dominus, Beat knows little more than their existence. Beat pays them little mind, as their goals rarely interfere with his. They mind their own business, so Beat returns the favor.
Shade: Though he has been little more than a thorn in their side, Shade is the only organization (discounting Dominus' upcoming actions.) that Beat finds himself truly at odds with. Not only are they competition in his quest to amass magical artifacts, his old fellow student collects them with sinister purpose. For now Beat does only what little he can without drawing attention to himself, but more and more it seems Beat will have to make a choice about what he uses his powers for.
G.U.N. Kaito despises gun as incompetent and self-important, but it is unlikely they even know of G.U.N.'s existence. Though he is outspoken in his disdain for G.U.N., he does nothing to interfere with them since they pursue the same goals for the most part.
Powers: Beat is a magician, capable of many minor tricks and effects. The magic he is skilled in and uses for combat, however, is a unique type of magic he calls Incarnum. This is a powerful form of magic that utilizes the raw power that makes all magic possible. It is unstable and difficult to control, making it dangerous to the user and all around him. It has been attempted to be utilized by only a few power-hungry magic scholars in the past, always with disastrous results.
Incarnum Magic: The art of manipulating the raw stuff of magic, what makes all forms of magic possible. Many scholars in the past have hypothesized that all magic must have a common source, and Beat built on that knowledge. He believes that the source of magic is the spark of life, what we would call the souls, of all beings that have lived, live, or will live. A constant force of the universe that makes both magic and life possible. He taught himself to bypass the normal ways of performing magic, and manipulate the raw force itself. This is a dangerous and hard to control power that could very well damage the fabric of the universe. Incarnum manifests as a bluish-white glowing mist, which Beat can form into any shape he desires. The effects of Incarnum's raw power completely destroys matter it comes into contact with, defying the law of conservation. Using Incarnum is dangerous, as it is an unstable and unpredictable raw power. If Beat fails to control it properly it could have catastrophic results. It also puts a strain on Beat's body. When he uses Incarnum his own life force becomes one with it, if he strains himself too much it could drain the soul from his body. When he begins to strain his body, his hair loses color and turns white.
Levitation(Pseudo-flight): Though Beat is not capable of flight, he can manipulate his own aura to affect the density of air around him, levitating off the ground. While this can be used for mobility, he mostly uses it to relax at any given place or time.
Skills:
Beat is a skilled magician, musician, and an intellectual genius. He is also very skilled with computers and electronics, a master hacker, and excellent at sleight of hand even when not using magic to aid him. Though he is proficient in Incarnum, he is well knowledgeable on other types of magic and is capable of most anything if given time to prepare and the proper tools. Given his less than respectable connections as well as his magical ones, and his knowledge of all that exists in cyberspace, Beat knows at least a thing or two about most secret organizations and cults. He rarely feels the need to share this information with anyone else.

Character Description: Beat is as skinny as he is tall, standing at 6'7'' his long skinny limbs give him a scarecrow-like appearance. His Asian ancenstry shows in his androgynous facial structure, and his straight black hair. His hair falls just past his neck in the back, with his bangs cut just around his eyes. framing his face, the edges of his bangs are left longer in front of his ears down to about where his mouth is. Though it appears attractively unkempt, he puts a lot of work into making it so. He generally wears tight clothing, often female garments, that accentuate his androgny and make it difficult to tell his gender with a passing glance. He always wears long sleeves that conceal his wrists, and is fond of black and white stripes. He is almost always wearing a pair of goggles and is rarely without a pair of headphones.
Roleplay Sample: The heavy wooden door of the orphanage opened quietly, and silence followed the man who walked in. Urs stood in the foyer solemn and motionless as Beat made his entry into his home. Beat's clothes were wrinkled and dirty, his face haggard and gaunt, and a large white streak ran through his hair. He gave Urs a wave and a half-hearted smile. "Keeping the universe in balance again?" Urs spoke his questions like statements, and this one had a dry air of sarcasm to it. Beat ran a hand through his mostly black hair. "Nah, just some costumed kooks trying to cause natural disasters. No biggie. I got you a t-shirt." Urs remained motionless, his huge arms crossed across his chest. "I saw. On the news. You're lucky the children didn't. A major villain organization. Too much for one man, even you Beat." Urs spoke candidly with the privilege only the oldest of friends are allowed. Beat brushed it off. "They were all lightweights, I'm the most powerful magician in the world. Speaking of the children, I trust you didn't announce my arrival. I'd like to get a good night's sleep before I have to deal with kids, ya know?" Urs wrinkled his brow. It was the same routine, Beat coming in quietly so the children wouldn't see him in such a state. "They're in bed. They do not keep the same hours as you. They're good kids." Beat made an exaggerated movement of grabbing his chest, as if shot by Urs' remark. Urs paid no attention and continued to speak. "If you must insist on playing hero, why must you do so alone? This sort of thing is G.U.N.'s job." Beat shot Urs a dirty look, his forced carefree demeanor leaving him instantly. "G.U.N. wasn't there. They don't prevent tragedy, they just clean up the mess. They would've gotten their pompous asses kicked anyway." Urs shot back as soon as Beat ended his sentence. "You had the information, you could have given it to them. You could be helping them Beat, instead of bearing all of this burden yourself. It is too much for one man to bear. These children will not recover if you don't return from one of these trips one day." Beat brushed him off. "You're the one that does all the work. I'm barely around anyway." A serious look came across Urs' face, as if he was telling Beat an important secret. "I am their caretaker. You are something else. You are a symbol to these children Beat. You are hope, and they can not afford to lose that. Or do you want them to be like you?" Urs almost regretted saying such a thing to his dearest friend who he owed so much too, but he knew it was true. Beat opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it and averted his gaze from Urs' own and simply began walking to his room. "Beat." Urs called out to him, a quiet word from the giant man having the impact of a yell. Beat spoke over his shoulder at his companion. "Learn to know when you've won Urs. I'll see you in the morning." Beat, exhausted, collapsed in his bed and fell asleep instantly.
When he woke his vigor had returned to him, as well as his hair color. He smirked imagining the faces of the children when they found out Brother Beat had returned, and prepared to go down for his breakfast. "Lunch," as those with normal sleep schedules would call it. He checked his computer quickly just to make sure all was right with the world, only to find the world was in crisis yet again. Urs' words weighed heavily on him, but he knew he didn't have a choice. His only option was becoming powerful enough to help everyone. For now, he had work to do. He looked longingly at his bedroom door, the portal to a carefree day with his family, such as it was. He let out a deep sigh "Best not to let them know I was here." and with that, Beat slipped away from his home as quietly as he entered it.
