Take the chance when you can (Open)

It was the middle of the day and hot as hell but that was to be expected in los angeles especially this year as it was supposedly the hottest year recorded so far, those who were silly enough to be wearing heavy clothing would be drenched in sweat within seconds of walking. A young innocent faced young man walked down the sidewalk with a watermelon flavored Popsicle in one hand while the other swung around lazily, his clothing a long sleeved baggy white button up shirt. His clothing a pair of rather loose blue jeans that hung on his hips rather than sitting above them, emerald green eyes took in the scenery of the streets though there wasn't much different than usual, his wild caramel colored hair stuck out in several places as usual since he hardly combed it. Keeping up with his slacker sheik look he wore a pair of dark blue and black flip flops instead of real shoes, it seemed as if the laid back young man had not a care in the world.

As he rounded a corner he was surprised to find an apartment building on fire with a group forming outside of it, not a police officer of fire truck in sight Ari thought to himself calmly as he walked towards the building. While he walked it took a large bite out of his watermelon flavored Popsicle as the people around the building gasped and chattered about frantically trying to think of what to do as if there was something that could be done without the proper equipment. Ari could hear several people asking where the authorities were and he just smiled as this was LA in the middle of the day, the cops and fire trucks would take another fifteen or twenty minutes to get here on time he thought before finishing off his watermelon flavored Popsicle.

Though now that he thought about that Ari was thinking quite deeply, if one with a certain ability were to go in while the building was stable he might be able to get a few things that others could not due to the fire. This thought brought a grin to his lips as he walked towards the alley on the right hand side of the apartment building looking for the fire escape, once he found it the innocent looking young man slipped his shoes off and pressed his bare flesh against the warm concrete beneath them. Within a second everything about Ari's appearance changed, his skin changed from a creamy color to a sickly grey, his flesh changed from soft and smooth to rough and hard, even his hair and eye color changed to the same shade and texture as the concrete below him. All in all it looked as if there were a concrete statue of Ari standing within the middle of the alleyway now, but this statue seemed to move and it moved well as it ran towards the wall and pushed off with one foot to leap up and grasp the edge of the fire escape to hoist himself up and over onto the metal, with this done Ari began climbing up rather quickly trying to find a good place to enter.

Ari had no intentions of trying to be the macho cool hero he simply wanted to take some items from the unharmed rooms before the fire spread to them as well, in his mind the stuff would get burned up or melted anyways so one could hardly call it stealing. In this form the fire that leaped out of the windows did nothing to him and he barely felt any heat at all, granted he was still outside at the moment but even in the heart of the fire his concrete form would be okay. It was about the sixth floor that Ari found an unharmed room and rubbed his hands together gleefully as he could spot several things that had been left behind in a hurry, an ipod, a silver bracelet, even a brand new tablet nice.

With this Ari's elbow came forward and he smashed the glass of the window without a problem, soon he was climbing into the room to take whatever he wanted. He grabbed the silver bracelet first and shoved it into his pocket along with that ipod, he would have listened to the music if any of it had been good when he skimmed through the lists quickly but he found nothing but screamo death metal which was not his style at all. Now came the tablet which he was debating on taking as it was too big to fit into his pockets but it would fetch a pretty penny on the streets he thought calmly. Finally he decided to leave it on the table as he didn't want to waste the room in case there was more jewelery to be found, so with this room done he kicked down the door and headed to the room across from it.

It seemed that lady luck was smiling upon him because right there next to the sink was a diamond ring, seems like someone had taken it off to do the dishes he thought happily. Of course he pocketed that within second and was walking out back to the main hall to look for another room to ransack, no one would even know he was here he thought cockily as he headed for the next room.

Ari was so intent on taking the items that belonged to others that he wasn't bothering to look around for people as well anyone in trouble wasn't his problem he thought ever so calmly as he entered the next room. The living room had nothing significant of value so he checked the other rooms and found himself a gold ring probably a wedding ring but he wasn't too sure about that. He slipped the ring onto his hand and then admired the look in the mirror within the bedroom "oh yea Ari you look good as a married cement man" he said jokingly before giving a light laugh at his own joke. Soon he was heading out the door to the main hall but when he got there he got quite the surprise, instead of finding an empty hall there were three other people standing there and two of them seemed to be carrying children. He froze there for a second letting them take in the sight of his concrete form before giving a little smile "well can anyone say awkward?" he asked in a playful tone which was much deeper than usual due to his transformation.

The first one he noticed was a young woman with a girl clinging to her back crying as if it were the end of the world which in her case could actually be true, but that was not the thing that caught his eye as well the young woman had rather interesting colored hair he thought. The second person seemed like he was geared up for a war and perhaps he was the reason this had all started he thought as the guy did look rather suspicious especially while carrying a baby. The third person was probably the most normal looking one out of them all including Ari in that, now that he saw these three gathered here one conclusion came to his mind and that was that they were heroes saving the day. "Well this is a rather interesting meeting but I think we should go now" he said quickly before starting a slow walk back towards the window he had entered from, he kept his eyes on the group just in case they tried to attack him from behind.

Ari was rather confused as to why the young woman thought there was no way out but then again not all of them were coated with the hardness and fire resistance of concrete he thought calmly before continuing towards the window. They were all talking about this hole in the wall as if it were the only way out but it seemed that they weren't really looking at anything else for some odd reason, well not his problem he thought as he watched the other guy melting another window. "You all have fun with that I'm just going to leave now" he said in a cheerful tone as well he did not have to worry about carrying a kid around and he did not have to worry about these people as they came in of their own accord. Instead of bothering to do anything fancy Ari simply walked into the room he entered from and simply pushed himself through the window that he had broken earlier, with that he was on the fire escape.

Heroes always had to over complicate things he thought to himself as he walked to the edge of the fire escape around the normal looking guy and then grasped the metal before concentrating, suddenly Ari's body and clothing went from a rough grey color to bright smooth silver color. As he moved forward suddenly it sounded as if metal was hitting metal and Ari was in the air falling six floors down, he hit the ground with a thunderous sound and he concrete beneath him cracked just a bit under his weight. His metal form seemed much more intimidating than the concrete form though it was hard to feel even a little unease since the metal Ari was smiling from ear to ear before waving up to everyone. "You guys have a nice day now and make sure to get your credit for saving the children" he said in a joking tone before he began to make his way towards his flip flops so he could put them back on before leaving.
