A New Day (open)

Arianna sat upon a rooftop in the city of angels, watching the people below as if they were ants. She saw herself as closer to an angel than any of the pitiful simpletons below. She projected herself briefly in front of a speeding car, then watched as it spun out of control, hitting at least 5 pedestrians and using a building as a brake. She giggled to herself as she waited for the ambulance to arrive. Before it did, the driver crawled out of the wreckage, screaming for help. Now that simply won't do! She thought, taking aim with her staff. Suddenly, the man burst into flames. He didn't scream much longer after that. Ah, much better.

When the ambulance arrived, it was time for a bit more fun. Two EMTs approached the scene, and Arianna projected into the wreckage and began to scream, "Help! Please! Won't somebody help?" The two EMTs started digging through the wreckage, when suddenly one of them screamed in pain, for his rear end was on fire. Arianna watched as he the fire spread, engulfing the man as his colleague ran back to the ambulance and retrieved a fire blanket. Pedestrians were watching in terror. The EMT that wasn't burning stopped suddenly, clutching his stomach. He began to scream in pain as well, and then for a split second, he was replaced by a man-shaped fireball, which quickly dissipated, leaving only ashes in its wake. Arianna then began to hum as she blasted fireballs into the windows of the building which the car had hit, starting at the bottom floor and working her way up. Once the building was sufficiently burning, she sat back and admired her smoldering masterpiece.

After a while, firefighters came along with the police. They began questioning witnesses, all of whom pointed them toward the roof from which Arianna launched her flaming assault. She was long gone, but had left a projection to watch over the scene. She watched as three police officers enter the building, then waited for them to reach the top floor. When they did, one stayed behind to hold the door, for it could not be opened from the outside. As the remaining two officers approached with their pistols drawn, the projection stepped onto the ledge. They continued their approach, and the projection pretended to slip and begin falling. One of the officers rushed toward her in a rescue attempt, but when he reached the image, he simply fell through her and his momentum took him over the edge. The projection fell with him, watching his terror all the way down and laughing at him. It disappeared just before hitting the ground. The officer was not so lucky.

Phooey! I was hoping for more than stupid police! Unsatisfied with her small massacre, she decided she would have to look for trouble if it would not come to her.
