Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Nick's jaws gaped and a flush went to his cheeks as he heard what she said, before he shook it off and the streams of gravity canceling EM particles from the trailing edge of his wings turned into torrents, making his wings appear bigger than they were as he ascended to her height just as she started moving forward. "Where are we raci--" he began, before he changed the angle of his wings and directed the equivalent of a small explosion of energy behind him to catch up to her, still a foot or two behind. This was called an 'impulse' or specific amount of energy released for a specific amount of time for a set acceleration. Either way, he simply soared along on that momentum, the streams of energy fading to trickles directed downward at a sixty four degree angle to keep him moving forward at that altitude.
"So where are we racing to, mi--" Nick started again before she dove. Oh god damn it, he thought, though he laughed instead and cut off the flow of particles to face down and again apply a second impulse that let him follow, spreading his wings further apart as he streaked after her, counter to instinctive thought about wings. Beneath them, he was forming a store of energy particles, so that when he absolutely needed to pull out, he'd release that and shoot back up. "Where are we racing to!?" he finally got out.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
She arched herself up, having just barely heard him the first two times about where they were racing to. She smirked to herself and twirled around and started flying backward, keeping a good two or three feet distance between herself and Nick. He was a great pilot, but he hesitated too much. She twirled around and slowed to circle around of him, her wings pumping, bending, and folding to have herself redirect and move around of him. It was a very skilled pattern of movement she had taught herself. Her flight pattern wasn't simple, considering she was sometimes caught fighting up in mid-air. She let her wings pump a single time, then another to thrust her forward, past Nick again. "We're going around the property line two times," she bellowed over her shoulder, taking off with her wings basically tossing her as if she were launched from a slingshot. She moved so elegantly, her hair whipping behind of her. She held her arms out and just breathed in. Despite moving at such a velocity she could completely outrun a speeding train, she felt so good just stretching her wings. The ebony feathers caught the lazy sun rays and the bits of crimson colored feathers, there to help enforce the bodily shield she wielded, glimmered in the light as well and complimented her outfight wonderfully.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
He was in his 'zen' mode once she answered, simply enjoying being airborne as she floated around him. He might be faster, but to pull off those moves at a higher velocity were almost too difficult for him to try. Then again, considering a USAF Fighting Falcon had been dispatched to try and shoot him out of the sky, it was perhaps a good thing that his evasive strategy consisted of speeding up. Long range missiles couldn't hack the turns he pulled, and short range missiles could be outrun. The mediums were troublesome, but he normally carried a pocketful of aluminum chaff and a road flare just in case. "Two times?" he asked, zoning back in to find her keeping her distance ahead of him. He smiled, turning up the heat on his wings, sending the directed thrust of his particles almost straight horizontal until he matched her velocity, his eyes picking out details along the speeding landscape and overall just making his strange like of the place even better. The sky, the rushing wind, and the feeling of moving really, really fast combined to make one singular thought pop out. He was hungry.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
She moved with such an elegant display that it was just something she enjoyed to watch herself. She would record her own display of flight and watch it. Whenever she found herself embarrassed, though, she destroyed the tapes and made newer ones. Prior to this evening, she had asked her crew to catch as much of this 'race' on film to playback later. She, wanting to take lead, couldn't study Nick's flight pattern with herself up front. She was seriously tempted to just drop back and let him win.. but that wouldn't be fair! He deserved to win on his own. "Two times," she stated while catching glimpse of a shadow. She transported herself there, having made a twenty feet leap forward in the race. Her form just shadowed and curled away like smoke being blown by the wind. She reappeared, her arms reaching forward from the shadow, wings following, along with the rest of her form. She took a chance to glance back at him. She gave him a wink, long lashes brushing her high cheek bones. She smiled, those crimson painted lips holding onto a broad, genuine smile. It had been too long since she spread her wings and lifted herself to the sky. It felt so right to have herself within the wind's grasp, caressing her body so gently.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
"Cheater!" he called, grinning as she turned back and winked at him. So she wants a good and proper race? I'll give her one then, he thought closing his eyes for a brief second and felt the world around him slow as both his velocity and the rate at which he processed information increased rapidly. The trail of cerulean behind him lengthened to a full four feet beyond the trailing edges of his wings, and he began to gain ground, thoroughly enjoying that he could look around and see the world in ultra high definition at his seeming leisure because of the counterbalance effect on his nervous system.
From what he could see, the property line was nearing a curve point, and so he began releasing more energy than normal from his left wing, keeping it stored up in the leading edge until he'd need it. When the curve started, he cut off the flow of energy keeping him aloft and flipped over twice vertically, twisting right as he came out of it and releasing a powerful blast of EM to redirect him along the curve's interior length, with the added benefit of maintaining about ninety percent of his initial velocity.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Chelle was flying leisurely as well, just moving along at a snails pace in comparison to what she could initially speed herself up to. She shadow bounced underneath of Nick and stayed there, looking up with a smirk upon her face. She flew up and past him the moment he started flipping. She watched him show off, and it was impressive indeed. She laughed and caught up to him with a few pumps from her wings, soaring to hover just above him. She chuckled and looked down at him, smiling again. They were coming to an end of their first lap. She pushed herself forward and lowered herself so she was on his level again. The curve within the 'track' they were taking had her at a sharp angle. She turned, her wingspan reaching to it's full potential at a vertical position. She bent her legs, her knees acting as a brake, shifting her center of gravity. She made it around of the curve, but lost the lead with Nick going on past her. She bit her lower lip out of bad habit and pushed herself to follow him. She was somewhat out of practice, it seemed.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Nick turned, adding more thrust output on his left wing directed backwards so he sped up and spun on a set axis to face her, the energy streams flowing backwards to his perception as he grinned. "I thought this was a race?" he shouted, so he'd know she'd hear him. He had just enough time facing backwards to see how she flew, banking nigh vertically. It was beautiful, in a natural way, he supposed, though to him, it had absolutely nothing on the ultrasharp velocity changes he could pull off with enough warning of the track.
That said, such maneuvers were dangerous, and since he needed to plan ahead for most of them, not super practical on the fly, plus they drained more than a pure turn would. Still, he expected that this 'race' of theirs would benefit from a few aerial stunts, if only to show her that he was worth hiring. He did also hope that nobody used any electronic equipment too close to his flight path, as if they absorbed too much, it'd Gauss their equipment's magnetic coding and royally screw it up.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
She hummed to herself, keeping up with Nick. Once they started their second lap, she zoomed on past him. "It is a race!" she bellowed taking off. She was soaring before a bullet punctured her left wing. This ruffled her feathers, literally, and had her buckle from her flight pattern. She winced gently and sped up, ignoring it. She had only imagined it to be a misfire from a hunter on the outskirts of her property. Then another bullet soared and punctured her left wing, again. The precision was absolutely perfect and it hit her wing right next to the first bullet's enter and exit spot. She winced again and her left wing crippled. She looked around frantically for the person that was out to get her. She spotted a group of gang members, all holding some form of gun. One was holding a sniper rifle. She winced and called back to Nick, "We've got to get out of here!" She was relying on her shadow hopping for the mean time, her left wing regaining some form of motion as she made a bee-line for the Villa.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Nick simply smiled wider as she passed him, laughing with sheer enjoyment at the challenge of racing her, until a feather shot past him and he blinked once as he saw her wing crumple, attempting to process what happened. He wasn't slow though, and followed her gaze, looking down at a heading of 280 degrees, with more flashes coming from the guns. There were at least four of them. One shooting. Of course, this was a passing analysis, and not anything binding. "No, I'm going to-- never mind," he shouted back, forcing a banking turn to the left and flaring his wings brightly to an extent that they wouldn't be able to miss his bright cerulean wings as he pulled a one hundred and eighty degree bank turn and streaked downwards. Suicidal, or at least uncaring of his life, but that was certainly an element of his personality. He saw the rest open fire, the ones with small arms focusing on the fast moving target, him, and not so much on the retreating one, though he expected the sniper to try and take her out. The landscape swept past, along with bullets that whizzed past, and a load of shot that smashed into the latter half of his right wing and was repelled back down to earth.
Their faces screamed into view before he flared his wings out and slammed them down right above them, sending a wave of EM Repulse energy that tossed anyone with a fairly high amount of metal against the trees, and flipped the small black sedan they came in over. This also boosted his altitude, and he spun, shooting off with an explosive release of energy in the direction of the villa, accelerating rapidly and spreading a storm of EM particles across his path to make bullets less effective. But it drained him, and he wavered just below the three hundred mile per hour mark as he caught up with Chelle. He expected a reprimand, at the very least, death at the outer edges of the spectrum, but at least the men below were still getting to their feet and losing valuable range on the target.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Everything around of her slowed down significantly. A third, and final shot had made it's impact. It pierced her left shoulder. So much damage to her left side made her crumple completely. Her wings bucked and folded together, her form just a free falling object. This all occurred right as Nick had made his motion to turn back away from the gang members he knocked backward. Chelle could feel her heart beating in her chest, rapidly thundering a heavy bass throughout her veins. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. If she landed, she was sure to break every bone in her body on impact. Hopefully Nick would have seen her lose control and somehow catch her. Maybe not. This, honestly, would've been a perfect test if she were prepared for it.. but it'll have to do. If he can save her from breaking more than her clavicle this evening, she was sure to consider the position he desired the most. From Nick's perspective, Chelle's falling form looked so beautifully Angelic. She was so perfect in all of her bliss. Her eyes closed, body arched, head tilted back. Her arms were limp, though the wind was forcing them up. Her knees were together, legs slightly upward during the free fall. Her wings looked like a backward umbrella around of her form. Just useless pieces of her body. Her hair was a mess, floating around of her Angelic face. She did look beautiful, though, the setting sun an added bonus.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
Nicholas was expecting a rebuke, not to see the person he had just risked his life to prevent injury to start to fall, wings useless and a trace of blood in the air streaming slowly from her shoulder. He was only a hundred yards from her, but he was beginning to hit the strain point of his energy. Okay, if I go supersonic, I could end up killing her, or sending her into an unrecoverable spin, he thought grimly, streaking across the space. But I don't have enough energy to outright stop two falling bodies and hit the speed of sound. Wait, this place has a pool, no... too far. Looks like I'm going to have to do a stupid move, again. And now I'm too low to stop us properly. He shook his head, shifting up above her and diving, the stream of energy behind him cutting off altogether and the wings folding as he quickly moved to reach terminal velocity.
Great choice of words. Terminal velocity, it's as if they want you depressed before you hit the ground, he thought, catching up to her as the ground rushed up to meet them and he began tossing just about everything he had into his wings' leading edges in preparation. The instant he reached close enough, Nick tossed his arms around her waist and the cerulean pair behind him spread massively, unloading a torrential flood of similarly colored particles that smashed into the soft earth in front of the villa. Each particle repelled the others in a chain reaction that slowed them incredibly fast, though not fast enough for him to avoid crashing into it and sliding for twenty feet. It rattled his teeth, and his pants were ruined, but, it seemed, she was okay.
The image, if one could actually operate a camera in the dense fog of ice blue particles , was picturesque, him breathing hard with an angelic looking figure held closely in his arms. "Miss Chelle?" he asked, drawing whatever energy he could from the cloud of EM particles around him, something he couldn't do while in midair. Her wound looked like a clean hit, but it had been a rough landing, and a desperate move. The smell of her blood was all over the place, all over him for that matter, but he fought hard to restrain that desire. Neither the time, nor the place, and sure as hell not the person he thought sharply, shaking his head. "I can't be sure, but it doesn't look like the bullet went through bone, though it hit some," Nick said as he quietly checked out the wound.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
The expansion and collapse of her lungs were so gentle. She already had trouble breathing at this altitude, especially with her form falling this way. And then with loss of blood, she was definitely breathing too shallow. She felt faint. But, a song crept into her mind and she just thought of how it matched with this moment so well. Seriously, though, it was not her time to die. Definitely not. She had survived a full clip from a smaller automatic weapon, and her own sword to her heart. She had thus received the title, "God Complex." Before that, she had received the title Queen for her sheer act of kindness toward people. It changed over time, though, her titles sticking to a T. She became a corrupted and evil persona. Killing for the hell of it. That is when she brought Thrones to life. That is the reason she leads this organization of Renegades that will kill or save whomever is requested to be killed or saved.
She opened her eyes at the touch of arms around of her waste. He had saved her? Maybe. She opened her eyes and gasped from the suddenness of his touch, pulling her from her surreal world and back to the real one. She looked up into the pale face of Nicholas Alexander Grimmholt. She let her eyes adjust, her form curving against Nick's to better adjust to the situation. They were moving so fast once he collided with her. She closed her eyes and used her right arm to curl around of his back, holding on so he wasn't using all of his energy just holding her. It felt like hours, sort of, but it was only seconds. They impacted with terra, and slid for about twenty feet. She had her eyes clenched closed and her lips pressed into a thin, pale line despite the lipstick. Her eyes crept open once they were settled upon the ground.
"Yes?" she managed, her voice a bit foreign to herself with it muffled in his close quarters between herself and Nick. She nearly blushed, but decided it would be better to hold the best composure she could. She was, after all, going to become his boss sooner or later. She felt her wings slack and brush against the ground, completely worn out. The left wing was in a seriously damaged state. She would have to put it in a splint and check for bullet shrapnel. She cleared her throat and smiled up at him before she felt a little bit faint. "It's.. only a.. fl-flesh wound.." She let her eyes close. The amount of blood having been lost being enough to have her feel faint, and that made her just want to drift off into sleep. She knew she shouldn't, but it was harder fighting this than just accepting it.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
"Then we'll have to make sure you don't bleed out," Nick said sedately, reaching up with his free hand to tug the silk tie loose. Well, at least it's impossible to notice blood on a tie this color, he thought wryly, placing the widest part of the tie directly on the bloody wound and then deftly wrapping it around with one hand. "There. That should hold you, though we should get it cleaned and see if there's anything dangerous in there," he added as his hands let her slide down a bit so he could stand up slowly. Damn. My knees are really, really unhappy at the moment, he thought, grimacing as his healing came into play, starting to repair what he was pretty sure were some hairline fractures on his patellas. His deep scarlet eyes looked over the woman, checking for other injuries, but he really couldn't tell from such a cursory examination, and looked back in the direction of where he came from, the dense trail of EM Repulse particles acting like a bright cerulean arrow back to where the gang members were.
"I wrecked their vehicle, and any electronics they had are fried. Plus they can't use weapons all too well in that fog," slipping the compact FN Five-Seven handgun from inside his pocket and ejecting the magazine. A full clip of ten lethal 5.7 by 28 millimeter rounds, each one capable of penetrating two Kevlar vests at distances over one hundred and sixty feet. "Neither can I, actually, but I expect them to run to a rendezvous with their secondary escape point and get out of it. Would you like me to hunt them down and exterminate the threat?" Nick asked, calmly sliding the box magazine into the bottom until it clicked and he yanked the slide back to chamber a round. The fog around them swirled, flowing back into his fading wings as he waited for an answer. His demeanor was businesslike, a slight hint of genuine anger in the way he handled the gun at his side.

The fog around them swirled, flowing back into his fading wings as he waited for an answer. His demeanor was businesslike, a slight hint of genuine anger in the way he handled the gun at his side.

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
She nodded gently, her eyes fluttering open to make sure not to faint because of blood loss. That would be a bad thing to do, really. She cleared her throat and smacked her lips toward, reaching a hand up to wipe at her mouth. She winced and a snarling growl passed her lips in detest of how he touched her shoulder. The pressure alone had her writhing gently. She relaxed though, her fangs having elongated in response to her outburst. They poked out along her lower lip her eyes open slits. She peered up at Nick through those thickly painted lashes. "Thank you.. so much," she said, her breath lacing each syllable in an almost harmonious manner. She could feel his body nearly buckle in response to standing up. She gently let go of him and laid herself down on the ground, looking up at him with her chest rising and falling in a gentle manner. The way she looked as still beautiful, dirt attached to her clothes. She looked behind of Nick and noticed the trail of cerulean as well. "Stunning.." she murmured, turning her attention back to him.
She nodded, listening to what he was saying with her eyes just locked onto his face. She gave a weak smile. It was more-so a smile showing she was defeated for the day. "Good.. good," she stated after he explained that he had wrecked their car. Then she let her brows furrow together. "Oh? You would do that? I hope you're not too long.. I feel a bit tired," she sighed and relaxed gently. "I could help.. I would just need a tiny bit of.. blood," she stated, her words slowing while her head lolled to the side. She started and blinked while leaning up abruptly. She gasped and winced gently, looking about them. She looked to her shoulder and winced yet again, making to pull the bandage off. She then looked up at Nick and remembered what had just happened. Her hand fell away from the makeshift bandage, leaving it where it was. She bit her lower lip and nodded. "Kill them," was her order before anchoring herself back to her feet. "Try not to be too long."

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
"It is nothing, Miss Chelle," he replied, a little on edge from how she'd reacted to the pain. Still, her fangs weren't totally threatening. especially given he had a pair of those in his mouth, though they didn't elongate quite as much. Nick's scarlet eyes followed her own as she looked at the trail and he shrugged politely. "Not so if you're in a fighter jet or a missile," he replied and smiled slightly at how he'd accidentally caused both to crash into each other during the chase only two months before. The cryptic smile faded as he looked back at Chelle, disliking the image of the person that very well might be his employer in such a ruined state. "Yes. Not only did they ruin our race, they also stained my tie," Nick said, smiling at that bit of gallows humor. He did care that she was shot, after all, and that demanded vengeance. Or, as the normal people put it, payback.
"I won't be long. Few people can track me when I move fast enough, and... if you need blood," he began, before he furrowed his brows in worry as she slowed down and appeared to pass out before coming back. "We'll trade. Give me something a little heavier than a pistol and take some of my blood," Nick stated diplomatically, offering his wrist to her. True, I need to kill them, but they wouldn't station their escape vehicle within at least a kilometer. Standard operations procedure for Spec Ops, if Dad was right. That gives me about two minutes before they reach it, and then I'll spring a trap. Meanwhile, Miss Chelle could use something to help her stay on her feet. "I intend to, but your health comes first. Drink."

Re: Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name
She chuckled at him and took a step back, smiling slightly. "I really couldn't.. It's been so long.." She looked from his face to his wrist and back. Her own orbs, the ripe red boring into the bright scarlet orbs. She chewed her lip gently, fangs pricking the skin. The crimson lipstick was then a darker red from the tiny puncture she gave herself. She licked over the wound and it was healed instantly. She blinked and looked him dead in the eyes again, her line of vision having dropped in shame. "There's actually some weaponry in the trunk of the car we arrived in.. I forget exactly what Leopold keeps in there, but it's probably something to take down a tank or the likes. He likes to keep me safe," she stated, thinking of how his artificial blood would taste. She licked her lips and took a daring step toward him. "Okay.. I'm sure they're retreating by now.. but that just will not do. They do not fire at me and live.. You have to stop me, okay?" She gently took his hand with her her own, and caressed gently before barring her fangs. She bit down without hesitation, drinking nearly ravenously. She suckled at his flesh, draining the blood happily. It was such an odd taste! The usual coppery smell was something else. It smelled so.. pleasant. She inhaled and swallowed gulp after gulp. Her wings arched and stretched in response to the blood and she felt her heart beat strengthen. She was back on her feet. "Mmn.." she mumbled against his flesh, a mock purr passing her lips to press upon his skin. She was enjoying his taste a bit too much.
