Devil's Advocate... or some similarly witty sounding name

"I'm afraid I'm not your darling yet, Ms. Takeiro", he replied, raising an eyebrow and nimbly tapping the table's glass with a pair of fingers, as if this whole affair bored him. Which, admittedly, was not true, though it was the impression he intended to create. "I think it'd be downright suicidal of me to waste your time, at that," Nicholas added, "even if that would certainly be an option given where we are." The wind moving through the street lightly moved his thick hair, much to his irritation as she smiled. He also had the strange mental image of being studied like a piece of meat; something he wasn't quite used to being on the other end of.

His back was kept rigid, though his lips twitched up into a smile as she paid for his drink and rose. Ah, well at least I'm not paying for it, he thought bemusedly scanning her features. She was certainly stunning, but what really caught his attention was the fact that she and he were, oddly enough, matching. "If you'd like a list, now'd be a good time to ask," he murmured, his strong tone somewhat waylaid by her question. Nick supposed he could have prepared better, but honestly, it wouldn't have done a whole deal of good to sit down and spit out a bunch of answers by rote. "That depends. I never finished high school, but a few decent schools were looking out for me as a lacrosse player. If that doesn't bother you, then pay me, and I'm as loyal as can be. Unless, of course, I have another, more binding reason to stay, but we'll keep speculation to a minimum," he added, a ghost of a mischievous smile on his face that echoed the Cheshire one from minutes before.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you sounded interested," Nick replied, his lips twitching up at the ends in a sly smile, the eyes behind his shades sparkling. His tone as he said it bordered on conspiratorial, but had a trace of detachment that he tossed in simply to gauge how she reacted. "Oh, don't worry. I won't be damaging the merchandise while applying for a job," he quipped back, though the tone she added was an excellent vis a vis to his own immediately before. His boots made hardly any noise against the warm stone of the streets, and Nick couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her placing her arm on his. Certainly familiar.. he thought with a grin, though if she wasn't so gorgeous I might have a problem with it

He nodded, mentally running over what he'd learned about his powers from scattered memories of the lab and experiments from his own repertoire. "As far as I can tell, I'm unusually strong for a stick, and hard to kill. Which probably helps me survive the shock of Mach One plus speeds when I need to fly," Nick explained, nodding in agreement as to what she said about loyalty. To him, being disloyal to someone that treated you well, like a human being, or at least as someone with the ability to do some damage, was idiotic, and beneath any rational human being. "That.. and I can black out electronics, manipulate objects with trace amounts of metal in them, and... wings," he concluded and raised an eyebrow at her fangs. I feel like a piece of meat again... a tasty one, at that. Sighing slightly, and accepting that his fate was, effectively, in her hands, he slipped into the car seat beside her and pulled the door shut with his electromagnetic Attract subset power. A show of his power, complete with the curious blue particles produced, was hopefully something she'd appreciate.

Chelle smiled over toward Nick, letting her lips curl into another mocking Cheshire grin. She had been repeating his explanation of his powers over in her head, but with the sight of his form sliding into the car and the door shutting with the use of one of his powers... well, let's say she was impressed. The blue particles produced from the power was quite the production. She reached her hand across his lap and waved her hand through the colored bits and chuckled. "This is nice.. does sparkling balls of energy follow you around? Or only when you use your powers?" she questioned in a teasing fashion while the driver pulled from the curb. They were going toward Chelle's villa. This was going to be an eventful evening, needless to say. She placed her hands in her lap and breathed in slowly before finding her cigarettes in a compartment between the front seats. She slid one of the spicy Cloves out and pressed it between her lips. With a strike of a match against the match pad, she held a warm flame to the end of her cancerous treat. "I hope you don't mind. If you'd like one, go ahead," she said, motioning with her right hand that he could help himself. She held the cigarette in her left hand, and before she could press the down button for the window, it was already down. The driver had done so for her. He hated it when she smoked in the car.

"They usually aren't that visible, since I tend to make them more dense when I use my wings, but yeah, pretty much. I hope you're not going to make me a nightlight," Nick added wryly, having already run over that possibility with a hint of distaste. The mirrored shades weren't much use inside the car, though he was loath to show his vermilion eyes, especially in the dark where they would be that much more apparent, along with the dull glow they gave off when he used powers. He looked out the window at the landscape flying past, looking at her with a curious expression. "Where are we headed, Ms. Takeiro?" he asked, removing his sunglasses and folding them into his front pocket with a slight click.

He shook his head at the sigh of the cigarette, coughing slightly, though the nanomachines in his body were already active and purging anything dangerous from his lungs. "I'll live," Nick replied quickly. Smoking wasn't something that particularly appealed to him, being a nice, straitlaced teenager with a healthy memory of disturbing pictures in ads against the act.

"Ah, so.. You mentioned Mach one as a speed.. is that as fast as you can go?" she was curious, considering him being an actual artificial vampire. He must have some other form of speed up his sleeve. She saw that the cigarette was bugging him, so she flicked it out of the window after taking another large lungful. She exhaled through the cracked window and then closed it herself. "I apologize for upsetting you with my bad habit.. I'll try to refrain from smoking so much around of you," she stated, smiling gently before looking him over again. They were matching, oddly enough.. and she just took that into consideration. It was only a coincidence, but it still meant something to her. "Ah, yes.. we're headed to my villa in the north." She let her lips curl into a gentle smile this time. She was going to put him to a flight test and see how fast he actually was.

The Villa

Nick smiled slightly as she mentioned his speed. For someone that loved flying, especially since he had a pilot's license from the time he was eleven, and his dad was a major air buff, being a former military test pilot at Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works in the base known as Area 51. Since those connections went deep, he loved being in the air, especially at the helm of a state of the art jet, though since his change, he could now fly without the feel of an airframe around him. And with that in mind, he answered. "I know for a definite fact I can hit Mach One at ground level.. the vapor cloud always annoys me when I go supersonic. But I think I can go faster, though I've never known anyone with the equipment to test it. Though I can apparently make a USAF F-16D Falcon look like it's a paper airplane if I try hard enough," Nick said, the grin on his face huge, and definitely showing how much he loved that feeling.

His luminous crimson eyes widened nigh imperceptibly as she tossed out the cigarette, much to his surprise and, indeed, appreciation. "You don't need to stop on my behalf, Miss Chelle," he said, as the glass came up and she looked at him, getting the 'you're a piece of attractive meat' feeling again. This time, however, it was almost welcomed. Not to mention he hoped the look of gratitude on his face glossed over his use of her first name instead of her last name. So she cares enough to stop a bad habit around me, he thought, the actual idea seeming quite odd. But what does that mean? Am I that highly valued, or does she simply not want to give her guest the impression of being uncaring? His thoughts were interrupted, even if it was a pleasant one, by the sound of her voice. "A villa, how curious," Nick replied mostly impassively. "Are we heading there with any purpose in mind?"

He had to admit, the smile he got was certainly worth the drive. "Why thank you, Miss Chelle," Nick replied, the tone he said it in quite sincere, since few got to see it and even fewer complimented him. His eyes shifted back to glance outside as the car slowed and the villa presented itself, getting an reflexive nod of 'impressed' from him. "It certainly is.. wait, race?" he asked, looking back at her with a broad smile. "I'd love a race right now. I mean, the combat, not so much.. but the race is something I can do well."

Behind the shades, his eyes widened out of his control at her stunt in getting out of the car with her wings and landing at his height. Then Nicholas grinned, opening his door and stepping out sedately, the nanomachines in his body rapidly activating and releasing stunning amounts of energy into his system. Behind him, solid looking wings began to materialize as the blue particles ordinarily produced by his powers began coming together to form an impressive pair of geometrically perfect wings. They spread, compressed streams of his EM energy spilling forth from the ends of the wings, lifting him into the air to a height of thirty feet. "You're on, Chelle!" he said, reaching up with his right hand to rip off his shades and reveal his brightly glowing vermilion eyes. He needed to see properly.

Nick's jaws gaped and a flush went to his cheeks as he heard what she said, before he shook it off and the streams of gravity canceling EM particles from the trailing edge of his wings turned into torrents, making his wings appear bigger than they were as he ascended to her height just as she started moving forward. "Where are we raci--" he began, before he changed the angle of his wings and directed the equivalent of a small explosion of energy behind him to catch up to her, still a foot or two behind. This was called an 'impulse' or specific amount of energy released for a specific amount of time for a set acceleration. Either way, he simply soared along on that momentum, the streams of energy fading to trickles directed downward at a sixty four degree angle to keep him moving forward at that altitude.

"So where are we racing to, mi--" Nick started again before she dove. Oh god damn it, he thought, though he laughed instead and cut off the flow of particles to face down and again apply a second impulse that let him follow, spreading his wings further apart as he streaked after her, counter to instinctive thought about wings. Beneath them, he was forming a store of energy particles, so that when he absolutely needed to pull out, he'd release that and shoot back up. "Where are we racing to!?" he finally got out.
