Sound Vision (W/ Shauna)

Alright... Time to face this challenge...

Chase held his IPhone in his hands. Siri had a tendency of hating him beyond compare, but if he wanted to learn what he had in mind, he would have no other choice but to use her.

The held down the home button for five seconds. "What can I help you with?"

"Take me to the Prodigy Group chat."

It beeped in response. Everything was looking good.

"Siri, type 'Anyone that knows a bit about human physiology near Los Angeles?'"

Another beep. "Anyone that knows a bit about human physiology near Los Angeles?"

It wasn't fighting him. Now all he had to do was wait.

Nearly fifteen minutes later, his phone beeped again, and Siri read the message."DG: 'there's this shady doctor in this shady part of town that can do shady medical procedures for the meta community'" Well, that sounded more like someone he should be stopping, but if they help, Chase could turn a blind eye to it. "DG: 'don't worry she's legit. she does my x-rays and my hair.'"

"Siri, say 'Thanks. What hospital is it at?"

"Shanks. What hospital is it at?"

"No, 'Thanks. What hospital is it at?'"

"No thanks. What hospital is it at?"

He groaned. Fucking hell... "Siri, delete message."

The phone beeped. "Deleting message."

"Now, type 'Thanks. What hospital is it at?'"

"Thanks. What hospital is it at?"

Eventually, he got the address and her office number. Chase caught the closest bus and made his way to the hospital. He would enter the building and make his to her office. Tapping on the open door with his cane three times, he'd poke his head into the room. Thought he knew the answer, he asked "Is Doctor Masters here?"[/color]

The "office" was really just a converted shipping container attached to an old warehouse full of phased out electronics. The door opened to reveal a fairly plain office with white walls and ceiling, and a wooden floor. There was a shelf with lots of books, a sofa for guests, and Shauna's own desk and chair with her handbag on it.

"Yes? I'm doctor Masters. I got a message from a mutual tall friend, so you're Prodigy huh? What did you need?" Shauna greeted Chase as she opened the door.

"Mrawr." Shauna's big old tabby cat, Walter was lying down on the welcome mat inside the office. He meowed at the new arrival, then calmly climbed up to the sofa.

Not a hospital but a warehouse. Well, things haven't gone wrong in a while. If there was ever a time for life to do so, a place like this would be perfect for that.

He backtracked on his thinking. Someone else in Prodigy trusted her a lot, enough to suggest her. It was more than likely that he'd be fine.

"Nice to meet you Dr. Masters. I'm Chase." He waved his cane until he reached the couch. When she closed the door, he would set it aside and pet the cat. "I, uh, would like some help. See, what I need to know is, what part of the eye in particular allows for sight?" He removed his glasses and revealed his unresponsive eyes.

"Fair warning, this next part is kind of gross", and with that said, his eyes suddenly vanished, leaving nothing but empty sockets. "Now I can see you, but you can probably guess why I don't do this often. If I know what parts of the eye are responsible for sight, I won't freak people out constantly." He didn't mention the part about his eyes were now picking up sound, nor how he could partly see through their clothes. If she asked, he'd explain the prior, but the ladder didn't need to be known.

Walter found Chase's petting to be adequate, letting out a purr as his back was stroked. He decided to reward Chase by climbing onto his back, digging his claws into his clothes and skin as he made his way there.

Shauna took a seat to listen to Chase, then he demonstrates the ability to transform his eyeballs to sound waves, which she saw as ethereal vibrations. She normally couldn't see sound, but Chase keeping it inside his eyes allowed her to see the phenomenon. Oh the things metahumans could do these days.

"Huh." Shauna said with a rather 'been there, seen it all' attitude regarding the empty eye sockets. She was going to get her projector to explain the parts of the eye, but considering Chase was blind that was a faux pas. She sits down behind the desk and looks up the eye in a book.

"Well... the principle behind the eye is that, they detect light and convert it into electro-chemical impulses in neurons... you see when light passes the cornea and hits the lens..." Shauna begins her long medical explanation of how normal eyes function.

"...So I'm guessing how you work with sound you'll probably want to transmute your eye's lens, behind the pupil." She concluded. She wondered what else Chase needed... and of course she offered the obvious.

"You know if I took a look at your eyes, maybe I can just fix them up right now and you can have regular old sight... or hook you up with some cybernetics." Shauna offered Chase, thinking of the more practical solution.

Chase shivered violently as the cat dug its claws into his back, making sure as to not upset it to where it might actually scratch him. With his back arched forward, he would continue to sit in an awkward position that the cat would enjoy until it decided it was bored of him and leaves. God, he hoped that was soon.

Blinking, his eyes returned back to their sockets, as if they had never disappeared. He listened to Shauna explaining what the process behind how eyes worked, trying not to look too lost as he did so. He didn't understand every fourth word or so, but, from what he could tell, it didn't seem impossible for his idea to be done.

He listened to the two options she presented, and immediately he had something to say against the ladder. "As much as I would love to try it, I'm kinda afraid cybernetic eyes will fuck up my ability to see sound. Or that they might fall out when I turn into sound. That'd be absolutely terrifying." After a brief moment reflecting on the atrocity of that scenario, he continued. "But if you think you might be able to fix my eyes, I don't see why we shouldn't try."

Shauna picked up Walter off from Chase's back. "Bad Walter." She frazzled him on the head.

"Mrawr!" He protested. How dare the primary servant deprive him of Chase's back? Shauna got him one of those sushi-shaped toys with catnip on it. She also put him in a box above his cage. The box fits. Walter plays with the catnip toy in his box, highly content.

Shauna got a paper from a stack on the shelf, and puts it on a clipboard.

"Alright then, if you'd be so kind as to sign this consent form, I'll take a quick look inside your eyeball to check the damage. If June didn't already say, I have x-ray vision." Shauna guided Chase's hand to sign the paper, the provisions having been printed in braille for his benefit. "And no, it won't give you cancer." She added, jokingly.

"So... tell me how exactly you got blinded?" Shauna asked, being a doctor and wanting to ask first for information, before taking a look.
