Sociopathic Scientist with Super Powers. Yay!... (Danny)

She said she'd be here in one week.

One week ago, I met some girl named Danny that asked me to meet her here one week ago. Surprisingly, you can cross the country very quickly when you travel at mach 1. I mostly just went sight seeing around the-... Chase thought to himself, completely aware that there was a meaningless monologue going off in his head. He hadn't had much human contact in a week and he had already resorted to having a one-sided conversation to himself to try to keep himself sane.

He clicked around, trying to find someone that looked somewhat reminiscent of the girl he had met with a week ago. Unluckily for him, though, he couldn't find her. There's no way I'm early. Am I late? Chase started freaking out a little. Chase didn't get this girl's number for he couldn't use his phone. Echolocation doesn't work on light from a screen.

After freaking out for a couple minutes, he finally found her. Sure, she was three blocks, but that was nothing to Chase. He walked into an alley and turned into sound, vibrating through the buildings between them. Making sure he stood still, he turned back into matter in a different alleyway. Despite this, his skin still smoked a little. He walked out into the side walk and towards Danny. "Hey, Da-" Chase said, raising his hand, but stopping mid sentence to put his hand up to his right ear. Chase heard a strange sound that made him feel very uneasy.


Although it took a little convincing, Melodi finally got Aria to come Starbucks. They had both decided on being heroes, but they didn't have costumes yet. Yeah, they could fight crime now, but they were somewhat weaker heroes in comparison to those on the news. With no food in their stomachs and no costumes over their backs, what could they do?

Melodi ordered a cappuccino and a bisket. Aria only ordered a black coffee. Melodi gave her sister a little heck for it, but it was obvious she wasn't feeling well. With all that's happened these past few weeks, it was no wonder why. Melodi was just trying to lighten up the mood, but that obviously wasn't working, so she cut it out.

After a mostly silent 15 minutes sitting in Starbucks drinking their coffee, a high pitched sound rung throughout the whole restaurant, followed by some dork in black tights with yellow stripes around it appeared inside the building, followed by the noise stopping. His outfit had no skin showing, besides his face, which was covered with a mask with a huge smile on it. Looking at the twins, he said "I only need one of you. Which one shall it be?"

Melodi stood up with haste. "I don't know who you are, but you ar-" She had begun to say furiously, stopping when the man disappeared and reappeared, ramming his heavily cushioned left fist into her stomach. The whole restaurant shook, and Melodi doubled over in pain and collapsed on the floor. He picked her up, and as Aria ran up to him, he punched her in the cheek with his right hand, which had brass knuckles on it. Aria was on the floor, trying to stay conscious as Melodi was being taken away.

The trip back to California did wonders for Danny's sleeping problems. Two days back and Danny left her house once to go for a run-but ultimately turned into a picnic, minus the blanket, and basket, and even the food. Just why Danny felt so drained escaped her, but the recent need for her skills and the piling up of school work did not factor in to help. After working through three chapters of trigonometry, Danny decided she would rather fight a villain than look at one more math problem.

The proximity of Starbucks to any location on Earth helped Danny out greatly. Her school work always went up when pumpkin spice went on sale, but peppermint lattes could hold over some epic study sessions. Danny wore a nice green vest over a white long sleeved shirt with a black skirt and pink tennis shoes. Her scarf dropped down around her waist while still holding true around her neck. While moving through the street, Danny could not help but think she forgot to meet someone for something.

The smell of coffee filled Danny's nostrils to the fullest. It was what Danny assumed drugs were like. Only a few times a year would a Starbucks hit her so hard in the face, and she really loved the caress of the aroma. She strode up to the counter and pulled her wallet out of her purse. It would be the last normal thing of the day for Danny.

A shriek cut into Danny's brain, sending her into a crouched position. A man with a smile plastered across his mask grabbed a young, redheaded girl- one who cast a clear resemblance to someone she met before. "Mel?" The sound gave up. A melee continued on, but quickly passed to nothing. "Hey! Let her go!" A schism rested between Danny's frontal lobe, but it would not deter Danny. It would hinder her ability to fight though, so Danny lunged forward with a pair of turquoise knuckles over her fist to try and deliver a blow to the bad doctor's face. The regular reflexes Danny could move with felt slower and her vision made it hard to focus. In a great and desperate effort, Danny managed to grab the doctor's wrist. "She's not going anywhere!"

Chase put his hand down. The sound had come from a Starbucks, and, Lucky me, Danny was walking into the Starbucks. He was certain Danny hadn't heard him, so he walked through the small crowd of people fleeing from the coffee shop... Oh God. Of course something is going on. Chase thought to himself as he started to hurried towards the shop.

Though it only took seconds, it felt like several minutes. As he started to focus on what was going inside the shop, he realized something was going on. Okay, it looks like a robbery with a man in a costume taking a hostage. Taking comfort in knowing that Danny was there, he fast-walked to the door. He had almost reached the door when the sound returned. This time, Chase could deal with it, but the sound formed the shape of a man, and that man was racing towards him.


"I don't think you can decide that." The man said, not caring that there was opposition. As he made his way towards the door, Melodi still unconscious on his shoulder, he caught a glimpse of someone- Chase, to be exact. Knowing that they shared powers, he enacted a response before Chase could, knowing this would immediately end any fight between them.

The man disappeared, causing a high pitched noise to go throughout the shop. Melodi fell to the floor as he reappeared, punching Chase with his right hand. His punch connected into his face. His brass knuckles breaking and fracturing his cranium. Chase went flying into a car behind him, smashing the exterior with his back. He walked a few steps and opened the door back into Starbucks. "Unless anyone else wants that to happen to them, I suggest everyone still here shuts the fuck up." He stood just above the child, waiting to see if anyone responded.

Just breaking Danny's grip did not break Danny off from her pursuit. Come Hell or high water, Danny resided she would arrest this man and stop him form abducting Melodi. She constructed some metal bars to bind the man's arm, and maintained their existence, right up until the sound pierced her head again. Her concentration shattered faster than the bars around his arm. Nothing in her head could manage anything close to a thought until it finally ended. She looked up to see a man fly into a car. A dilemma popped into her mind. She could pursue this man or assist the man she recruited to California.

"I'll take those odds." Just giving up on saving the girl would most likely mean she would be unable to find this man again. Danny needed something more concrete to follow with and that would include having it out right here.

"Don't." A girl placed her hand on Danny's shoulder to pull her back. "I can find her. I know I can."

A turquoise bar faded from Danny's hand. She would continue this fight, just on different terms in a different place. She would simply watch him leave before heading over to Chase. "Call an ambulance!"

Aria would pull out her cell phone, snap a picture of the scientist, and then dial for emergency services.

"Hey! Can you hear me?" Danny tried to apply pressure to the wound with a construct to prevent too much blood loss as they waited for someone to show up to help.

He could feel a huge gash just above his right cheek. He felt the blood trickling down his face, and he could do nothing. He couldn't even think straight with all the pain he was feeling. While it was the worse in his head, his back felt broken in several places. He heard loud ringing along with every sound he usually did, and all that did was add on to his migraine. And despite his efforts, he could not lift his eyes.

He laid there lifelessly. The man that did this left the coffee shop with the child and spat on Chase as he passed, though Chase didn't notice. A couple moments later, someone rushed to his side. "Heeeey! Can-hear me?" Chase barely made out Danny's voice as he felt a pressure on the gash. He barely lifted his eyes, his vision just a blurry mess. He tried to speak, but he only coughed out blood.


The man continued off with Melodi's unconscious body. As he walked, a dormant car started. He opened the back door and threw her, putting restraints on her to stop her from screaming or breaking out. He closed the door and got in the passenger seat, followed by the car driving off.

Even knowing the guy could regenerate did not help much with setting Danny's mind at ease. Maybe this would be the shot he would not get up from. Only a few people in the world could regenerate and as far as Danny knew, none of them were all that ancient. "Chase, just hold on an ambulance is on the way-"

"We need to go. My sister is being kidnapped by a scientist. That is bad news for everyone!" Aria grabbed Danny and began to pull her away.

"I told this guy to meet me out here, so he wouldn't-"

"What are you going to do to make him better? You aren't a doctor!" The grip loosened and Danny walked away with Aria as the sounds of sirens grew closer. "I can track her with my phone, so we can find this guy."

It made sense, but Danny could not just leave him alone. She put a Prodigy communicator in his pocket. Hopefully he would find it and use it to contact her when he awoke. "Do you know who this guy is?" Danny kept looking at the screen of Aria's phone, watching as a dot showed up. It moved fairly slow, but only looked to be a few blocks away.

"No, but he messed with the wrong sisters." The dot came to a stop as Danny and Aria turned the corner to see him throwing a tied up and gagged Melodi in the back of a car, before entering the car. "Let's get him!"

"If we fight him now, we can damage the car and your sister. We need to follow him." The car began to take off from the alley. The dot began to move further, but in an absolute direction. "Let's get a cab and-"

"A cab! We're following a scientist who captured my sister and we're getting a-"

"He won't know it's us. We can stop him and find out if he is working for someone else!" Danny pulled Aria away and the duo found a cab. The dot continued to move, but experienced traffic too. "I can't give you an address, but we're following a friend of ours. She has a GPS thing in her phone, so if you could just follow her, we're going to the same party." Danny leaned back into her seat while Aria just stared out the window, unable to look at Danny for making her give up the opportunity to attack the scientist.

Chase barely heard his name in the racket that is the world, but that's all. With his mind in shambles, he couldn't give the slightest amount of focus to see through echolocation. All he knew was one moment, there was a comforting pressure on his face, then the next, it was gone. Slight sadness washed over him as he realized it was gone, but the emotion faded as his injuries acquired the full attention of his mind. With no reason to stay awake, he closed his eyes to the sound of sirens approaching.


Melodi's blinked a few times before she shot her eyes wide open, remembering what had happened. She tried yelling "Help!", but it only came out as "Mmm!".

"No use in screaming", the man in the costume said while taking off his mask with the smile. He was a Hispanic man nearing his mid-life crisis. "No one can hear you scream" he said, his voice much more coarse this time.

The car slowly came to an inching crawl as they got stuck behind traffic. "I'm sorry, Krouse. I didn't know there was traffic, I swear!" The shorter man driving the car said in a terrified voice. All Krouse did in response was angrily rub his left temple.

The chase continued. At least the one Danny embarked on, but she really hoped the other Chase also kept on with some signs of life. "That guy messed Chase up pretty bad, but it looked like he broke his brass knuckle."

"I'll break his real knuckles." Aria turned from the window for the first time in five minutes to talk to Danny.

"Listen we haven't lost him yet. He's not going to do anything to Mel while they're in the car. We can come up with a plan now." Danny kept an eye on her phone to see where the dot made its way. The traffic looked like it would clear up for them soon, but the dot started to move clearly. "When we find the place, you and I are going to sneak in and we find Mel first, then we go after the scientist, got it?"

"Fine, but if we see the guy first then we-"

"Have to have Mel. Otherwise he can just turn to having a hostage and we're in the same situation Mel is in. Or worse." The traffic let out and their taxi began to close in on where he scientist made his destination. "Get ready. And one of us needs to pay for the cab, so-" Danny looked over to the glare Aria passed her. "Yeah, I got it. Kinda rude of me to imply otherwise."

The ambulance arrived at the scene. It only took a moment for someone that was inside Starbucks to run outside in a panic and point at Chase. He was still lifelessly laying there, and the paramedics quickly got him on a gurney. Once they got him on the ambulance, they attached him to life support and just tried their best to stabilize him, but while trying their best to do so, it became very obvious that he shouldn't be alive.


Krouse sat in his seat, examining his now broken brass knuckles. "Sir, if I may ask, what did you do to break them?" His scared servant asked.

"I saw him, so I killed him. I don't know if it was worth the knuckles, but it sure was satisfying." Krouse said in response.

Melodi sat silently in the back, thinking about something she could do. Wait, I got it! She thought excitedly. She knew she had to stop the car from inching to their base or whatever they had, so she made the pathetically scared henchman think he was being stung by bees while she made Krouse think he was on fire. The henchman swatted at his arms and yelped in pain while Krouse yelled.

"I know this is your doing, Melodi. Stop this at once!" Krouse demanded. Melodi obviously didn't comply, and he disappeared, the car momentarily being filled with a high pitched sound before it disappeared with Krouse reappearing in the back with Melodi, his cushioned fist coming down on her head. "She should be unconscious for a good while." Krouse said, disappearing and reappearing in his seat.

Police barricaded the road in front of the cab. The dot on Aria's phone continued to move. Farther. Farther. Farther. "We need to get out." Aria began to try to get the lock open. "We can just make our way there on foot. Or get a cab on the other side. Or grow wings and fly. I don't care, but we can't sit in here!" Aria grew more frantic as she tried the handle to the door repeatedly, but to no avail.

"Excuse me, sir." Danny reached forward to collect her phone and give the driver the fare. "We're needing to get out here. Could you unlock the door?"

"Can't let passengers out on the road."

"Then pull over." Aria shot her glare directly into the rear view mirror to connect with him. "But do it now."

"We're going to that coffee shop right there." A lie and a pointed finger joined each other. "It doesn't matter if we're in the middle of the road or on the side when everything is stopped."

"Company policy says-" More money came from Danny's wallet. A click rang through the back of the cab. "You girls have a fine day."

Danny and Aria got out on foot. They would need to find some short cuts to make up for time, but at least they were moving.

"He's stabilized." Said one of the two paramedics, who was obviously frantic. She had probably never seen anyone this fucked up before.

"Good work. Keep an eye on his vitals. He's either a meta-human or very lucky. If it's the prior, the doctors might have a chance of saving him and getting him to a stable position. Said the other paramedic, who was only slightly calmer than his coworker. He grabbed a walkie-talkie connected to a radio in the car. "He's been stabilized, but the damage done to his cranium and his back will need the attention of several specialists." He said, informing a woman on the other line who would be responsible for gathering the doctors.


Melodi woke up with Krouse over her. She attempted to get away, but she couldn't move. She looked at her arms and realized she had been strapped down to a table. She tried pulling free, but obviously that didn't work.

"I'm going to need you to hold still", Krouse said, pushing a needle into her veins. Just as he pushed it in, she started to mess with his mind. For a moment, he yelled in pain as it fet like a shark was biting into his torso, but the yell became a loud laugh as Melodi felt her eyes become heavy. Ever so heavy. Must.... Stay... Awake... She thought to herself. She blinked once, then twice, before finally her eyes closed without her permission.

Finally the dot stopped. It looked like it was close enough for Danny and Aria to make the trip in a little under thirty minutes by shooting through back alleys and jumping a few fences. The building they found seemed inconspicuous enough, but the GPS clearly signaled this as the place where Mel was taken. They entered through a back door as Danny unlocked it using a turquoise pick and a little know how from her bracelet.

The lights in the halls were all out, giving a major beacon to draw Aria and Danny towards. "When we get in there, we need to find Mel first, then we-"

"I'll go after that bastard as soon as I find him and-"

"Language!" The attitude on this girl would surely compromise them if she could not control it, but Danny did want to risk upsetting her by saying her thoughts. "Lets find a high ground and-"

Aria did not wait for Danny. The light drew her like a moth to flame, but this moth had a way to drown the fire. The electricity from the room surged into Aria's finger tips. Even before she turned the corner, she began to seep the electricity from the machines lining the room. She stepped into the room, fully prepared to unleash the surge on Krouse, but the image of her sister made her stall for a second.

Danny did not anticipate the stall. She sent a turquoise bar to grab Krouse by the legs. The surge of electricity would course through him, but it never came. All that came were flickering lights and a revealed Danny and an Aria who looked like a deer in headlights.

The ambulance arrived at the hospital. They rushed him to the emergency room where three doctors awaited him. They immediately hooked him up to a feeding tube and gave him morphine. They stitched up the gash above his cheek and the less serious gash in his back caused by his impact with the car. By the time they had finished this, there was a noticeable difference in the broken bones in his back and head. Despite this, they theorized that he wouldn't be awake for a long time, how long being unknown by the undetermined factor of his healing abilities. They had acquired security footage from the area, and they unanimously agreed that he must be suffering from heavy brain damage.


Melodi had yet to wake back up and Samuel Krouse was far too focused on his work to notice the crackling sounds of electricity. He was no longer in his suit and was now in a lab coat. He heard a constant stream of sounds since he acquired his powers, he had no reason to let this one acquire his attention. It wasn't until a turquoise bar grabbed both of his legs that he paid realized people were there. Holding a metal syringe with a button on one end in his hands, he turned his head to look at them both. "What an expected surprise! It took you longer that I expected, Aria. And it seems you've brought a friend! He put his hand to his head for a moment, then pointed at Danny. "You must be Danny. I've seen footage of you sabotaging other 'villains' work." As he talked, he opened up the metal syringe in his hand and inserted one small little battery.

With a sudden rush of movement, he stabbed it into his arm and pressed down. He felt a shock of electricity from it, then turned into sound and reappeared with Melodi in between them. This highly experimental formula would last five minutes and it would take three to just gain the effects. All he had to do was fight them for that time and he would get an early field test of what he was working on.

"This guys got some roid rage." Danny saw Aria beginning to clam up at the sight of her sister in distress. "Aria! Shoot him! Now-" Before she could mutter out her command, Krouse disappeared into the same screeching sound. He reappeared safe from Danny's bindings, but not completely out of her range. "You've heard of me. Now see what I can do." Instead of keeping at range, Danny decided to get up close and personal with this man.

Aria continued to draw electricity to herself. The sight of her sister made her want to cut her down immediately, but it would mean leaving Danny alone. She took it. "Hold on Mel!" Aria overloaded the control on the shackles holding Mel to the table and ran over to catch her sister as she fell. She would remove any other bindings or gags from Mel and try to revive her, oblivious to the melee happening in the room.

A longsword emerged from Danny's right wrist and a crossbow on her left wrist. As she charged, the left bow would fire a round towards Krouse while Danny would move towards him, looking to brandish her blade and expose any weakness she could muster. She continued to press the offensive, unaware of the lack of support she would get from behind.

Krouse took his sights away from Danny and towards Melodi, who was now free from a couple bonds but still not completely free. He tried to forcibly make them close, but he quickly realized these efforts would be fruitless.

The words "Hold on Mel!" rung through her head. She could barely move, heard a lot of loud noises going on and was probably in more danger than before, but she was conscious again. Her arms and legs were tied together, and there was duct tape over her mouth and a hand towel tied around her eyes.

Krouse looked up when an arrow entered his right shoulder. He stumbled back in pain and pulled it out. He held the arrow up and turned into sound, leaving the arrow suspended in midair for him. He turned back into matter with has hand slightly moving forward to propel the arrow at high speeds towards Danny.
