Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Legacy |
Personality: Alicia is far from brave and prefers the odds be in her favor. When faced with a real challenge she’s more likely to run then stand and fight. She has no qualms with fighting dirty when threatened, especially after a failed escape attempt. That said Alicia does have morals and endeavors to make sure no innocent bystanders are hurt. She even attempts to leave security guards in her way uninjured by rendering them unconscious with harmless gases. However Alicia is ultimately more motivated by her desire to save her dad then her desire to do good. Subsequently she will resort to violent force when left without other options. She can be passionate and fiery when her dad is mocked or her beliefs about the Makeli group are challenged. And because she’s a fragile human she also has a tendency to be serious under threat. However outside of these circumstances she’s been known to be fairly lighthearted, outgoing and playful. History: Alicia's mother died during childbirth, leaving her dad to raise her alone. Despite this she recalls her childhood fondly. Balancing being a father with having a full time job put her dad under a lot of strain but they managed. You see they looked out for each other, Alicia and her dad. She'd fill in where he couldn't, looking after him as much as he looked after her. Naturally this caused her to mature quickly, she was doing the weekly shopping by the time she hit puberty. Not that she minded; this was just the way things were. Her dad’s employers however were less understanding and only grew more demanding as time passed. Not that his efforts went unrewarded, her dad led product R&D for a fortune 500 company and was very well paid for it. Still, under the stresses of his job, her dad’s mental state grew ever more fragile. Unable to go a day without being reminded of the difficulties of her dad’s profession Alicia ignored her prevailing aptitude for the sciences and pushed in the opposite direction. Ultimately she chose to study physical fitness with the aim of becoming a personal trainer. She worked hard and had her pick of universities. She was inclined to ignore the better ones in favor of something local but her dad insisted otherwise. He said that she needed to go and live her own life, that he would be fine without her. He was wrong, and she's never forgiven herself for leaving. Left to his own devices the stress overwhelmed him, her dad finally snapped. Many found what came next entertaining or even amusing. But to her it was simply tragic. In secret her dad used his incredible intellect to create several revolutionary inventions. He could have sold them for millions and retired. But in his deranged state he instead set himself up as a corny smoking-themed super villain named The Tobacconist. He then proceeded to apprehend teens and make them mildly addicted to cigarettes using a unique chemical vapor of his own design. The plan, supposedly, was to later make a small profit selling the teens cigarettes at an inflated price. Of course his plan was flawed, (in more ways then one,) and the teens simply brought their cigarettes elsewhere. Feeling somehow provoked by these legitimate cigarette retailers he then proceeded to rob stores of their cigarette stocks, but not in any normal manner. No he overdid it by using revolutionary gas pressurization technology and incapacitating chemical agents, (often whilst laughing maniacally.) With their property and staff left essentially unscathed the stores would promptly replace their stocks, after which he would rob them again. This embarrassing cycle continued for a time. Naturally the police took notice and intervened but he had surprising success neutralizing them, to the point where superheroes actually had to step in. The height of The Tobacconist's infamously short "reign of terror" saw him actually defeat a noted superhero. However this defeat is generally attributed to the superhero's inability to consider The Tobacconist a genuine threat. The whole embarrassing ordeal finally came to a close when Alicia, home for the weekend, discovered her dad's costume in the basement and called the authorities. He was quickly committed to a high-security psychiatric hospital. She would visit him every now and again. His actions may have been shocking, disturbing and humiliating but he was still her dad and they still looked out for each other. After moving back home she quickly found her dad’s hidden stash of inventions. She considered selling the inventions and getting rich, however she now harbored a distinct dislike of corporations. After all her dad was overworked to the point of insanity by his employers. Besides some of the inventions, such as the ones that induced substance addiction, were ripe for corporate abuse. She also explored the idea of going into business herself with some of the more ethically sound inventions. But she had no desire to subject herself to the kind of stresses her dad had been exposed to. So in the end she just hid the inventions somewhere new, pretended she'd never found them and moved on with her life. That was until her Dad went missing. The hospital staff claimed he had been transferred, but that story fell apart under scrutiny. Apparently a little false paperwork was all it took to abduct somebody from a high-security psychiatric hospital these days. She knew who was responsible, the Makeli group, her Dad’s former employers, (or their parent company anyway.) She’d had a visit from them just a week earlier, two corporate suits trying to bribe and intimidate her into handing over anything she might have found. She faked ignorance and, assuming they believed her, going after the source was their next logical step. Problem was she had no evidence. Sure they had plenty of motive, in subtle hands her dad’s knack for inducing substance addiction was an abundant source of money and influence. But they’d left no trail; they’d buried all their dirt. Which meant she’d have to go digging. She retrieved her Dad’s journals from his stash and got to work; lucky for her he was a compulsive documenter. With a little modification she could repurpose his old tech into want she needed without adopting his spandex or melodramatic flare. In a little over a month she was suited up and ready to get answers the hard way. She packed up her bags and bid farewell to her old life. The world wasn’t stupid, if some new super hit the scene with tech almost identical to her Dad’s somebody would put two and two together, Alicia Coale had to disappear. And she did. For the last half a year Alicia has been keeping a low profile. Meanwhile her alter ego Haze has been breaking into Makeli group’s subsidiaries looking for any clues to her Dad’s location. She hasn’t found him yet but what she has found has only confirmed her suspicions; Samples of her dad’s tech, a little behind what she has but covered in his hallmarks nevertheless. This has forced her to step it up a notch and start sabotaging their R&D as well. Ensuring her dad’s continued usefulness whilst delaying any plans they might have to force addictions on people. More recently she’s also taken to stealing from them. After all she had to quit her day job to disappear and waging a one-woman war on a huge corporation is expensive. Alicia’s history of theft and sabotage tends to paint her as a super villain. A fact Makeli’s PR departments have exploited on numerous occasions. Unless they know about the Makeli group’s shady underbelly most characters are predisposed to assume the worst of Haze. |
The Powers and Weaknesses |
Power: A Spark of Genius: Alicia's no genius like her dad, but when it comes to engineering and chemistry she picks things up quickly. She managed to grasp the complex concepts and formula presented in her dad's journals with remarkable speed given her lack of formal education in the subjects. Whilst she's made no breakthroughs herself, she's been able to adapt her dad’s technology towards a variety of different applications. She’s come a long way in a short time and shows remarkable promise. Her intelligence remains high but ultimately mundane. But with the right tutorage perhaps it could become something more. Weakness: A Spark of Madness: Alicia’s greatest fear is that she’s not just inherited some of her dad’s intelligence, but some of his instabilities as well. She worries, obsessively checking herself for signs to the point of paranoia. Ironically she’s failed to realise that this itself is a sign of madness. For the moment her condition is no more then a personality quirk, but like her intelligence it has the potential to become vastly more potent, (Especially if exploited.) RP Mechanics: Squishy Human: With only standard human endurance Alicia is particularly vulnerable to anyone who can land a hit on her. Physically fit: Having studied physical fitness Alicia is fitter and healthier then your average person. However she would probably struggle to keep pace with a professional athlete and is by no means superhuman. Criminal Proficiencies: Alicia’s newfound career in corporate sabotage and theft has forced her to develop a particular skillset. Amongst other things she’s become adept at stealth, picking locks and acquiring false ID. Items: Alicia’s Equipment: These are Alicia’s personal effects.
Alicia’s Chemicals: The following chemicals can be deployed via Alicia’s gas aura harness or aerosol spray. These chemicals are airborne and only effective when inhaled by their target. Subsequently maintaining a distance, dispersing the gas via a gust or simply holding ones breath are all valid countermeasures.
