Air Lady in Alaska (Open-ish)

Flying by the GPS on her mobile device, Zafira flew over a vast, dark Alaskan wilderness to come upon the extremely remote town of Wainright, Alaska, far north and cold. Adorned in winter gear, she lands on the outskirts of the extremely isolated town. Flying for quite some time now, she takes a moment to sit on an overlook of the town and rest for a few minutes.

She set up a small camp, and made herself some tea from the melted ice. Even from this far she saw no one was walking about the town- though maybe not unusual, maybe everyone was asleep. Large tuna fish and sharks were hung from hooks at the docks, and a ship sat in the docks with all its lights on.

Regardless, she came to this remote town on business... and she'd get to it after this wonderful pot of Earl Grey.

"Why are we in Alaska?" Bliss felt a shiver go down her spine. It reminded her of the time someone modified her DNA to turn her into an air manipulator. "This place is full of lumberjacks and oil necks. None of them are high on my list of people I want to hang out with."

"Don't worry." Danny rubbed her fork in the syrup she poured on her plate. "If someone wants to hang out with you they can always tie you to a chair."

"How do you even know about that?" Bliss pointed her fork towards Danny in a menacing way.

"Abby told me. She doesn't keep secrets." Danny grabbed a large piece of pancake and brought it to her mouth. "Ghosts really have your number from the sound of it."

Before Bliss could enact any revenge, a dark haired, fair skinned woman walked up to the table. "I found something on the outskirts of town. Going to check it out. You two in?"

"I am." Danny finished her last pancake while Bliss gazed on is disdain.

"I can go check this out, but if it's too cold I'm going to be unpleasant."

"I didn't know it was cold everywhere." Sara pulled the hood on her parka up before leaving.

Sara led the way with snow pants and her parka, Danny took up the middle with her tight pink invisible friendly, snow gear, and Bliss pulled up the rear in her snow jacket and tight black pants. Bliss broke the silence. "So where are we going?"

"Just a little while further." Sara spotted a cave she believed something to a cult existed, but she only saw a camp. The three girls would wonder into the camp expecting an archaeological dig.

The diner they ate at was virtually empty and there were no staff present. It wasn't exactly closed, but more like abandoned. The only food they would get would come from vending machines. Thankfully it was the future, and there were Vending Machines for everything. Even pancakes.

Once the trio reached within 30 feet of Zafira, even if she didn't see them she could feel the air being disturbed by them. They didn't seem to be trying to sneak up on her, and so Zafira was relieved to see that they were just people. two, maybe three women?

The camp was just Zafira, a rock she sat on and her portable propane burner, as well as her portable metal cup and tea pot. She made no move when she reacted, simply remaining seated.

"Good evening ladies. Fancying a stroll this late at night?" While she spoke good english, Zafira could never quite get rid of her West Asian accent. She looked over the trio and her eyes fell on a familiar face. After that Fiasco with the Not-Kidnapping, Xiao introduced Zafira to the rest of the group and they parted on fair terms.

"I recognize you, young lady. Your fellow Prodigy member Dragon Girl spoke of you. What are you doing here?" She asked, before adding that refined lady politeness. "Would you like some tea? I have a pot going, and it's dreadfully cold out."

The spot did not exist in such an absent state as Sara led them to believe. "Oh great, so there's no relic here; you just found someone drinking tea in the cold. You know there's a country of people who do that right?"

"I hear the ghost who broke in thought you were so good at conversing that he gagged you." Danny walked towards the fire in the center of the camp.

"Yes, a villain didn't like hearing the truth about his life and was opposed."

"Yeah, we'll pretend that was the reason." The cold snapped in the air, but the fire felt fine. "Yeah, I'm Danny. That's Sara. She's an archaeologist with a mean penchant for moving rocks." Sara saluted. "And, that's Bliss. Prodigy sponsor and just plain mean person." Bliss bit her back teeth together, imagining she was in the process of devouring Danny's heart. "So what's got you out this far?"

"Yeah, we were looking for an artifact, but someone was wrong." Bliss starred at Danny even though Sara' s miscalculations led them in the wrong direction. "Now, we need to find something to make up for this terrible decision."

"Just because we found this camp doesn't mean the relic can't be somewhere out here. You are aware two things can be in the same place?" Sara went and stopped by the fire, taking a cup of tea.

Bliss remained standing. "I know my foot can be in your ass."

"Well..." Zafira finished her tea and rose to properly greet them, before responding to Danny. "Seeing you are Prodigy, you know I am always searching for metahuman students for the Institute. A young boy. Ten, perhaps eleven. I was about to head into town when I stopped briefly to warm myself."

"I know the town is quiet because it is 1 in the morning, but I had arranged for the boy's family to meet me. They did not taking my call before I arrived." She shows them her mobile, displaying the missed calls she was trying to make.

"As for your relic, I have no such information of such a thing. Once we collect my pupil, I will offer my assistance if you wish it. Do you accept, miss Bliss?" Zafira was always a stiff formal lady.

"Yeah, whatever." Bliss kept her arms crossed as she accepted the proposal from Zafira.

"Aw, she likes you." Danny would put on a fake smile as she confirmed Bliss' affirmation of the contract.

"So you're looking for a child." Nothing to do with Bliss or Danny phased Sara as she took over to Zafira for confirmation. "If a child has disappeared, we should look into this. It is far more important than any relics of the past."

"Excuse the fuck out of me? Do you remember Egypt?" Bliss walked closer to the camp to look Sara in the eyes.

"Yes. Those relics are evil, but if we do not save this child his entire mind set as a child could be lost. Who is to say what evils will befall his mind?" Sara turned back to Zafira. "Where do we begin our search?"

"Hold on. If we're going to do this thing, we need to do this right. Who do you think took the kid and what is so special about him you would want me to take him into Prodigy."

A sour look overcame Danny. "Wow Bliss, this isn't all about you. Even when you have good points you are unpleasant."

"Still good points."

Zafira decided she could tell them about her work. Some of it anyway. "According to his parents, He's, and I quote... 'like part fish'. " she said, to paraphrase the parents, leaving out the mother's worry if her work as a fishmonger had something to do with it. She ignored their profanity laden exchanges, knowing how westerners tended to litter speech with unnecessary cursing.

"Well, it is quiet now, so we can go and visit the family's home and see why they haven't taken my calls. We were supposed to meet at this time." At that word, Air currents around Zafira seemed to move like some gentle breeze, before carrying her off in flight as she headed down the hill. The terrain wasn't exactly easy for walking, but Zafira wasn't an unbearable show off either. Once she reached the road she resumed legging it like a normal person.

She would slowly make her way through the town towards the street where the family lived. The houses were dark and quiet given the time. She knocked a few times, and even rang the doorbell but no one answered.

A breeze blew through the camp, first chilling the occupants, then making them realize the mistake in judgment. "Oh, great she can fly. Without us. Get walking." Bliss stayed beside the fire, taking Zafira's place.

"You're staying here?" The words came from Danny to the sound of being between a question and a statement.

"She's staying here." Sara started to leave the camp with Danny tagging behind her. Danny took an immediate liking to the reasonable Israeli archaeologist, sharing stories of digs, of criminal arrests, she felt like Sara could actually understand her like others. Sara took far more interest in Danny's bracelet than Bliss ever even pretended to show. What's it worth is the best Bliss ever said. Sara loved it and wanted to know more.

They arrived at the house with no sound or life coming from the knock on the door. A few minutes passes, and Danny walkd to the side of the house. If they would not open the door, Danny assumed the worst. She tried to pry open a window and with a quick rubbing of the bracelet succeeded. She fit perfectly through the window, but to her dismissal, and some appreciation, Sara took the liberty of using her earth manipulation to find another way in.

"It's cold here." Bliss poured herself another cup of tea. The wind picked up in the woods, but no sign of the air manipulator appeared. Bliss kept to herself, but continued to watch the woods, strolling out if anything peaked her interest.

ZAFIRA AND CO:

"I do not believe I caught your companion's name or occupation." Zafira asked about Sara, before they reached the house and did their doorbell thing. Zafira did not wish to be intrusive and be mistaken as an intruder, but concern also grew in her. Where else could they be at this hour, in the middle of Wainright? Zafira turned the corner of the house to see Danny had already taken the liberty to let herself in.

The second Danny opened the window she was met with a waft of warm, wet, organic smelling air. It was a stink associated with death. Strangely, the house showed no sign of forced entry aside from Danny's entrance. On the second floor, there was one room with a light on, and another door to a dark room ajar. Then... there was a banging on the door, and a man's frightened voice, "I said get away!" , after that, the sound of three gunshots from a handgun ripping through the doors. Danny was closer to the incident than Zafira.

BLISS:

Meanwhile as Bliss explored the very dark woods, she would hear slight growling in the distance. Upon closer inspection it was a bear lying on its side, and its growls were of immense pain and discomfort. Even upon seeing Bliss the pitiful creature stayed where he was, unable to react. The big furry guy's abdomen was swollen, and there was some blood at the bear's mouth and stomach.

Lovely, Alaska the place thats almost as cold as me...its sad cause its true. Ghost thought bitterly as he walked on a hill with his sniper rifle. he was in his suit and looked out from his scope. His target was some fish kid that had to be dealt with before the china gov got him.

As he looked out he saw Bliss and then on closer inspection a bear, then he moved his scope to the gun shots. He would wait for the guy to step into view (the guy with the hand gun) and blast him.

((Bliss remained in the outskirts of town at Zafira's camp. It is at least a fifteen minute walk to the house where the others are. Pick which area you'll be at, you can't be at both. Please read thoroughly and have funs. ))

((I'm on a hill with a sniper rifle))

The gunfire shook Danny. When she entered the house illegally, she assumed the worst thing she could find would be a dog. Walking into a domestic abuse situation turned everything around for her. Within a few seconds, Danny made her way to the sound of the shots, peaking her ear to the door while Sara caught up. "Well, don't wait for me." Sara breezed past Danny and moved into the room. "Hold it." Sara put her hands up to show she meant no harm. "Let's just talk this thing out."

"What are you doing?" Danny hesitated in joining Sara. If things took a turn for the worse it would make sense for Danny to stay hidden, but she still wondered about the mental decision of Sara wandering in so non-nonchalant.

Bliss sat down close to the bear- keeping her distance. Bliss pulled out her cell phone to call in animal control when she realized she had no clue the number and giving up this creature could be a mistake. "Good bear." With no background in any kind of animal husbandry, Bliss tried her best to get close to the bear without startling it. "What nice blood you have on your teeth. Where'd you get that? And is the guy you did that to there." Her finger would point down to its abdomen. "I'm talking to a bear right now. That is where I am in this."

@ THE HOUSE

Once Danny got to the second floor, things became alot simpler. The one banging on the locked room was a person who possessed sickly yellow-green skin, his eyes sunken, his teeth falling out- okay it's a zombie! For its attempt to get into the room it was greeted with a hail of lead, but zombies being what they are, it hardly stopped him.

"Dad he's still there!" A young voice cried, terrified of the zombie that wouldn't give up.

The zombie turned towards Sara and Danny as they got a bit too close. In typical zombie fashion he turned towards the girls and attacked, complete with groaning and shuffling... but right then a strong breeze blew right between Sara and Danny - woe betide if they had any loose articles of clothing or accessories- and sent the zombie flying through the window at the end of the hallway. Zafira had caught up. "Is the family alright?" she asked.

"Who's out there?! Don't try to come in, I've got a gun!" The man inside threatened, willing to shoot whoever tried to come for them.

"James? It's Zafira. I came by because you weren't taking my calls." Zafira said, wordlessly motioning to the ladies the zombie that was sent hurtling outside.

"Oh thank god..." The man's voice was filled with relief as he opened the door for the ladies.

"What on earth is happening?" He asked, clearly not having seen enough zombie movies. Considering it was isolated Alaska, it was probable.

@ BLISS

Thankfully for Bliss the nekrobear was too far in pain to respond no matter how close she got. Poor guy didn't really have much time left, as his abdomen rumbled and suddenly, four or five of the ugliest, nastiest fish-amphibian things burst through. Nasty little creatures, the blood covered Fang Spawn were all stink, teeth and stomach, and they were still hungry. They attack Bliss head on, wanting a piece of her.


@ CARNY

The wilderness outside the town was even less safe than usual, as all the wildlife was absent. Bursting out of the darkness, more Fang Spawn - about six- came for Ghost, gnashing and screeching, wanting to rip him apart in a frenzy.

Some odd stench emanated through the halls. Something less than ripe hung in the air like an unwelcome guest. Once Sara entered the room and saw the smoke still rises from the barrel of the pistol, she knew the situation changed into something more- dire. A creature slashed at Sara with the hatred only a bitter death could bring. A flower pot rested in the corner full of potting soil, giving Sara a defense. The soil shaped up and into a ball, blasting the hand of the zombie, sending his hand through the wall.

Danny watched as Zafira took care of the corpse with wind energies. "So, we're not doing anything here are we?"

"Shut up. We have work to do." Sara pushed past Danny, grabbing her wrist and pulling her behind.

Danny and Sara made their way into the garage and pulled up a slew of tools ranging from shovels to a wheel barrel of soil. A creak groaned out in the gears of the door as it lifted. "Did you get the keys for the car?" Sara lifted the wheel barrel full of soil.

"We don't need the car." Such a simple shovel for such a simple job. Danny trusted her choice.

Sara moved the wheel barrel with her hands to block the back of the vehicle. "I'm not pushing this the entire time. Go get the keys."While Danny went back to grab the keys, Sara loaded the fertilizer, soil, and other earthen goods in the back of the truck. "We're off. You can drive yet."

"I got my license last year." The car door slammed behind Danny as she tried to manage the excess fluff of her snow gear.

"Just try not to do your make up in the mirror."

Bliss killed everything. After a long blast of telekinetic blasts, Bliss managed to wrangle all five of the little beasts, gorging one on a rock, slamming two of them together until they broke, throwing one from the cliff, and smashing another countless times with a rock. She got by without as much trouble as the bear, but saw something out of the corner of her eye. A suit she recognized. A suit she would never forget.
