An Uncertain Warning

Shamgarel dropped Tenshi's father off and gave Tenshi a quick kiss before leaving her side. He walked swiftly down the hall to Xyron's room.

Xyron's door was wide open, like normal when he was in. The doorway, however, seemed to be letting out a strange orange light that flickered randomly. A loud explosion, similar in sound to a firecracker, burst out from the confined quarters, threatening to deafen anyone within range. A piece of metal shot into the hall, burying itself deep into the wall of the hallway Shamgarel was traversing. A few wisps of smoke wandered out of the doorway, feeling their way across the ceiling like vines across cement.
"AGAIN?! What will it take for this to work? I've tried soldering, grafting, welding, and now even the arcane! Bah, perhaps it is time I brought this down to the labs. I am doubtful if I will even be able to get it running at this rate. At least... not in time." Xyron passed trough the doorway to retrieve the piece, when he noticed Shamgarel in the hall. "Sham! My dear friend! What brings you down to my humble quarters this time of day? Isnt there something ELSE you should be doing?" Xyron's left eyebrow rose a few inches and the faintest hint of a smile crept across his face.

Shamgarel stared at Xyron, half confused by what he had said, the other half confused on how to tell him what he needed to tell him.

"I, uh, need to speak with you Xyron."

Xyron stopped, instantly sobered by Shamgarel's tone. "What is the matter, Sham? I just recieved a vision of your proposal to Tenshi. Is this not a time for celebration?" He motioned Sham to go inside, following him and closing the door behind them. "What is it you wish to tell me?"

"Well as you may or may not know, I had Azrael help me out with that."

Xyron nodded, turning around to gaze at Sham. "Ir has been a long time since I left our old home, but the vision I recieved made me reminiscient. I remember seeing your proposal, and Tenshi's response. It was quite masterful, if I may comment. Having her parents there. And although I have my...disagreements...with Azrael, I understand the necessity of his presence as well."

"Well that's part of why I needed to speak with you. Azrael told me he wished to speak with you."

Xyron stopped dead.
"What does he want with me?"

"He did not say old friend. I felt I should tell you as soon as possible though. As you know, he's not one to haul off and attack someone. But I got a sickening feeling when he mentioned you because of your history together."

Xyron paused, unsure what to say. "Hmm, I do not know what exactly there is to speak about. I had not thought Azrael the kind to open old wounds. Perhabs he too senses something dark on the horizon. Or perhaps he has news about my banishment. A new opportunity to redeem myself? No, i doubt such things would be delivered by the Angel of Death." Xyron sighed. "I suppose the only option is to see him and ask him personally. Though I hardly relish the idea..."

"I know Xyron, a meeting with Death is never something you want to be involved in, at least if you didn't call it yourself."

Xyron laughed. "Thats not exactly what I meant, but I suppose you have a point." He looked at Shamgarel intently, turning very serious. "But no matter what it is, I will deal with it. You have always been there for me. You were one of the few people who defended me when I was banished. But if Azrael asked to see me, then he probably wishes to see me alone. I will see him on the morn, but I would ask you to remain. My part here in GUN has been miniscule at best, and my presence here on Earth short-lived. Yours is a different story. You are a high ranking member, and have made a life for yourself here. Do not seek to throw that away on my behalf. No matter the circumstances."

Shamgarel looked down. "You're part has never been miniscule friend. You're just more or less out of your element. It seems you came to this world when it needed someone like me instead of someone like you. But you need not worry about me throwing my life away. I've gained to much to do that. But you cannot ask me to leave you alone with Azrael."

"That is exactly what I am asking of you, my dearest friend. No matter what he has to say, I can handle it on my own. I dont want you to be put in any semblance of risk. If these premonitions I have been getting are correct, GUN will need every member at our disposal for the days ahead. A dark advent is on the rise, and the hail of brimstone will be unrelenting. I only hope this isnt the message Azrael has for me. If he feels it too, then my worst fears might be realized."

"I don't know whether to be relieved that it may be the reason or dreadful of his message."
