How about a mild adventure? (Silus)

Ani was sitting in a park, the scar on her cheek gleaming opalescent. A news paper was open on her lap; the article she was reading was talking about a dancer gone mad. Escaped from a mental institution, armed, and potentially very dangerous, Ani couldn’t help but grin at that line. Charlie wouldn’t hurt a fly. That had been Ani herself, encouraging Charlie to use her powers to help her escape.

It had been the humans after all who had caused Charlie this much pain, it didn’t take that much pushing. It had been the medication she had been on that caused her to lose her memory. Keeping Ani hidden in the back of her mind and a secret.  In truth, Ani existing put a whole new twist on personality disorder; that caused Charlie to chuckle in the back of her mind.

Yeah, you do tend to complicate things a bit.

“Hmn,” Ani just stated, turning the page of her news paper. That bad thing about having to switch off using the body was, if you were to talk to the other person it made you look like a nut case. Now Ani couldn’t have that.  She was already nutty looking as is. With rich dark brown hair, pale skin, and light brown eyes. Her hand was casually draped across the back of the wooden bench and her long legs propped up on the other end. Her coat was slightly unbuttoned exposing the dark red v-neck underneath.

Silus was wandering about, looking for his dang pack again. This was the third time those jerks had just taken off to play "hide and seek" in the past month. He wasn't one to complain about his three adorable doggies...but this was just getting out of freaking hand now. He walked around, searching all over the pace. He eventually ended up at the park, panting. Sweat was beading at the top of his head as he unzipped the zipper hoodie that was probably two sizes too big. He ripped off his beanie and his tongue lulled out as he began panting like a dog.

S-stupid Dogs! He thought, calling out with his telepathy to them. He only heard three chorus' of laughter as he fell back on his butt, feet out in front of him, his knees bent up towards his chest. He proceeded to hug his knees and tried to return to a normal breathing pattern. He put his heat back and groaned, letting the beanie fall off to the side as he did so. He tried to calm himself a little as he began humming the famous tune of Fur Elise.

He would rest there for a while before moving on. The park was nice and quiet...secluded as far as he knew. The only sign of any life was a person with a newspaper. He let go of his knees and fell back, sprawling out and yawning, slightly skewing the rhythm of his humming. Once he was sprawled out he continued to hum as he began clicking the tips of his shoes together as he moved his feet in and out. Life was so boring without his pack... That's what he gets for losing the "dominance" challenge with Kaisses...

Turning the page, Ani noticed a kid wandering around the park. Not quite sure what he was looking for. Charlie thought he was adorable but then again, she loved most kids. Ani rolled her eyes at Charlie mentioning the possibility of talking to him.

“Not without looking like a creep-HEY!” A dog had appeared out of nowhere and snatched her newspaper. Then proceeded to run at Silus, drop the news paper on his face, and attempt to like the child around the ears.

“I was reading that!” Ani called, standing and stretching before making her way over to the kid. She wasn’t mad, mainly amused. Picking up the now soggy paper, it was covered in dog slime and no longer in a fit state to read, Ani chuckled. “Not like I was reading anything important anyway. Just about the dancer that supposedly went psycho.”

Ani offered the kid a hand up and Charlie made a noise in the back of her mind. He looked familiar. She just couldn’t place where. Ani wanted to growl at her counterpart and tell her to leave it be but Charlie’s curiosity was climbing.

“I’m Ani,” She introduced herself cause Charlie wouldn’t shut up.

The five foot tall wolf lunged for the newspaper and brought it to Silus, dropping the slobbering newspaper on his face before whipping the boy with his tail and a little snicker through their telepathic bond. Silus shot up and threw the newspaper off him and started rubbing his face with his oversized hoodie, ripping off his beanie to get the residual drool and slobbin' off his noggin. He cleared his throat and pushed the wolf, a playful glare and a drawn out pout that was part smile. Suddenly some one came out to get the paper and the wolf actually began to growl, it's white fur flashed, and the wolf suddenly became prismatic, all the colors of the rainbow. Silus shot up and yanked on the large wolf-dog's collar.

   "Woah, down Senor skittles-pup." Silus said with a little giggle. The girl introduced herself as Ani, which made him suspicious, but he reached out and accepted the hand up. He was a bit lighter than she thought apparently, because he FLEW up and laughed, a little tickled in his stomach from the sudden shift of positions. He looked back to the prismatic wolf. "Abra, calm down. H-h-hi. I'm Silus." He said with a smile, hiding his face a little by bashfully lowering his head a little.

    I really don't like this. Abra said through his telepathic link, his fur suddenly turning white again as he tried to hide himself, as best he could given he was a five foot wolf.

Congratulations, Charlie said dryly. You look like a creeper.

Ani ignored her and looked at the wolf with interest; he was massive at least five feet tall and it was very obvious the creature didn’t like her. All of a sudden the creature shifted white and Ani arched an eyebrow.

“Is that normal?” She doubted it and now Charlie was jabbering about how cute the wolf was. She was honestly still a teenage girl at heart despite being twenty one Ani supposed. Carefully, she offered a hand to the wolf to let ‘Skittles’ (Ani decided to call the wolf that because Abra held no hilarity for her at all) sniff her. Trying to show she was friendly and not intending to be a creeper. Ani waited to see if she would loose a hand.

We, Charlie corrected. We would lose a hand and then I wouldn’t talk to you cause I wouldn’t be able to play piano.

The wolf seemed to settle down. It curled up and before one knew it Abra has found himself resting on the ground next to Silus with a bit of a low growl, warning Ani to not try anything funny. The four-foot prismatic wolf then turned stark white as his green eyes seemed to trace her every step. Silus just scratched the wolf behind the ears, letting it relax some and calm down. The wolf sniffed as the hand came down, but other than staying down at Silus' command he showed no love. Abra didn't know what was up, but he knew SOMETHING was up with this chick...something just...didn't sit right. How many people take the time to approach an eleven year old with a four to five foot wolf guarding him. She was either really confident, or really stupid.

   "Sorry about him, he's just really protective. My brother tends to take the form of pretty women and pick on me." Silus explained as he looked to Ani with a smile, speaking only the truth. The innocence of the comment was hopefully not lost in transit somewhere. Silus stood up and looked up to the girl with a closed eye and a plain face as he nodded. He held out a tiny hand, as if to shake her hand. "Name's Loki." Silus said, introducing himself as his superhero name, something he did ever since he stopped The Hunter in LA and left the Awesome Squad.

“Touchy little puppy isn’t he?” Ani inquired, her eyes shifting to Charlie’s eye color just for a fraction of a second while looking at the wolf before looking back to Silus. “Which is a shame because he looks like quite the cuddle buddy.” She was being sarcastic. The wolf creature, abra, had made it quite clear that he did not like her.

Ani turned her amber brown eyes back onto Silus before cracking a small smile. “Obviously your brother does not have high standards when it comes to women then. I have met prettier.” The thin white scar on her cheekbone stood out vividly on her cheekbone when the light caught it as she turned her head.

Charlie was muttering something under her breath in the back of Ani’s head.
“Like the God of Mischief?” Ani asked, echoing Charlie’s question. Pain sizzled through her muscle. Her time with the body was drawing to a close and Ani winced slightly.

That was odd. She was complimented and then she just seemed to dismiss herself. It was almost as if she were insulting someone else. He didn't pay any mind to this though, especially as he pulled the prismatic dog back by the tail...well, the dog let him but that was beside the point. The eleven year old boy pulled off his beanie and shook his hair a little, feeling the breeze lift some of it and cooling his head off. He smiled innately at the feeling, but he looked directly at Ani. He stood up and held out his hand.

"Yup, that's me." He said as he extended a little hand happily, trying to be well-mannered and also trying to not be so shy. He honestly didn't want to meet new people, he was perfectly content to hug onto Ouro's leg and follow him around like a lost dog. But this ani girl seemed...nice enough, so why not right? It was then that he noticed her in a hint of pain, and he suddenly looked crestfallen and concerned. Dang his kind nature to Hades. "Ani-Ani are you okay?"

Ani smiled and Charlie mentioned something about Ani having a soft spot for children.

“Guess you like a good joke then-“ Ani gasped in pain, it felt like an electric current was racing up her arm. She swore under her breath, stumbling backwards. She was almost positive she had a few hours left. “I am sorry Loki, I have to go. I forgot to take my medication to help with my… condition.”

With that she stumbled away barely making it behind a cluster of trees before she fell onto her hands and knees. Bones cracked and reformed, hair darkened, scars vanished, and soon in a crumpled heap was Charlie. Her eyes were closed and they slowly opened to look at the bright sky, her head pounded. Rolling over she saw Silus, who had apparently seen the whole thing. Crap.
Charlie raised her hand to her face and face palmed.
“You weren’t supposed to see that…”

"Oh I wasn't?" Silus asked, almost as if he were sorry and the entire thing were his fault. He suddenly smiled and then pressed his index and thumb together and slid them, tracing his lips to symbolize they were properly sealed. He then looked around and snapped at Abra. "Abra, bend like...the light around us so no one other than us will see this." He instructed. The rainbow wolf audibly sighed...which was odd, though the fact he was about to speak PROBABLY blew the sigh out of the water. It just made Silus giggle a little though.

    "Fine...but just remember that this is against Ouroboros' wishes." Abra warned the child. Silus shrugged and as Abra bent the light, rendering them invisible to everyone else in the world Silus transformed and took his own older form and laughed a little. His voice changed lsightly, seeing as he just jumped over puberty and was now suddenly in completely different clothing, but that was besides the point. Black matched his black hair.

    "Well it looks like we're pretty even then." He said with an arch in his eyebrow and a chuckle. He then nodded at Abra and the barrier was lifted. He knew for a fact his daddy was going to be MAD that a mortal knew he could age shift at will. Silus cared, but this seemed to be the only way to make things right. "And Zell doesn't need to know about this does he? Really...no- NNNOOOO he doesn't...don't tell him and you can get a steak outta this." He bartered with the Dog. Abra DID love steak...and he just had to turn his prismatic head on this one little transgression. Not like it could end up being world war three because Silus showed ONE person...right? Why did he feel as though he was going to regret thinking that?

    "Fine I won't tell Ouroboros... it's gonna be rare right?" He asked, the last part a slightly bit more random Silus nodded and laughed as he looked form his Prismatic wolf to Ani, looking slightly like his father at that point...well...a mix of both of them.

"So...uh.... you're a metahuman I take it, or is this like...magical possession or multiple personalities? Erm...nevermind, it's not my business, sorry." He corrected himself, not wanting to seem rude.

Groaning, Charlie closed her eyes and rested her head back onto the forest floor, head still spinning slightly.

“To much talking,” She muttered to Ani or rather herself before sitting up and running fingers through her long dark hair.Thats when the two names of Ourobus and Zell caught her attention. Wincing again she stood, the twelve year old boy now resembled an guy in his late teens.

“Well… that’s a fancy trick.” Charlie stated, pinching the bridge of her nose to distract herself from the sensation of rapidly healing bone. “Haven’t seen that one yet. “

At Silus’ question she answered, “I am actually the original. If you pay attention to the news papers in the states you’ll learn that I’m the supposed psycho from a mental institution down in California. But, yes I’m a meta human. Charlie,” She added her name as an afterthought. “Ani is a microchip implanted in the back of my brain. Needless to say the surgery to keep me alive and her prisoner went wrong. Ani is just a plain old human… for the most part. She is on the evil scale of things however…” Charlie faded off as pain rippled through her system again before it came to a complete halt. Her shift was over.

“Did you say, Zell? Earlier I mean?... I think I know him… but I’m not sure…” Charlie itched her chin. “I have issues remembering things. From back when I was in the hospital, I mean. Not now… now that I figured out what was causing it…”

Charlie was rambling and Ani was swearing angrily at her from the back of her mind.
“Fine… I’ll stop talking,” Charlie stated grumpily.

"Really? She seemed really nice..." Silus said as he thought for a moment about such a nice girl being evil. Granted, at school he quickly learned that girls that were pretty were generally evil, but that wasn't the same kind of evil as what he believed Charlie to be relaying. He shrugged it off of course, though it was the concept of her knowing Zell. It WAS possible, since he did at one point end up in a LA psyche ward under a false identity. "Oh well..you might know him. He was kinda inna psych ward under a different name. He met a girl there, but he couldn't remember his name. He felt bad because he promised to visit her again and then he kinda....well... we had a huge family crisis and he never got to go back before he...uhm..." Silus began before stopping. What was he supposed to say next. "Before he died and came back", with his luck it'd end him up in this chick's old room.

“Haha,” Charlie stated, crossing her arms slightly. “Obviously she left quite the impression on you Loki. She is a seductress by trade. Just be careful with her… and stay away from her cupcakes.”

‘I’m not that bad,’ Ani argued in the back of Charlie’s head.

“Oh hush you; you know I’m telling the truth- not you. Ani. She won’t shut up.” Charlie arched an eyebrow before listening to what Silus had to say. The hair on her the back of her neck prickled unpleasantly as echoes of old conversations flashed through her mind.

“That… actually sounds a little familiar,” Charlie was trying to keep herself from freaking or getting excited. Having one’s past come back to haunt them was either a good or a bad thing, most of the time it tended to be bad. A large sigh exhaled her lungs, “What I wouldn’t give to figure out what happened to me…”

"Seductress? Erm... I don't think she was trying to seduce me in my true form. 'Cuz that's just weird." The now older boy chuckled as he listened to something about cupcakes. Well dang, now he had a craving for them. Was there a bakery nearby or something? Finding himself zoning off he berated himself for not paying more attention to the nice lady, and he quickly called himself back to listen to her say something along the lines of learning what happened to her. Silus thought about it for a moment, and the more he thought about that statement...the more he thought he might be able to help her. It would take a therapist, a couch, a stick of butter and a socket-wrench. He nodded at her as Aba seemed to calm down, even trusting the two alone to waltz off and play with a couple birds in the fountain.

"Why does that sound like it's gonna lead to a road trip? haha, but eh. Yeah...any ideas what happened to you..any clues or you got nothin'?" He asked, his more informal teenaged persona seeming to bleed more and more into the boys mentality as he watched the girl for a response.
