Personality: Lana pretends to be a bit clueless, letting her assistants show her up from down, so to speak. She is charitable and compassionate, as well as delicate and in need of being taken care of. However, Quintessence is a powerful, cocky woman who is perfectly okay falling back on her fists if she must. However, she prefers letting her mind do the work for her, outsmarting opponents as opposed to just wailing on them. She has the utmost respect for the boys in blue, but isn't afraid to bend a few laws if it's for the greater good. Her devotion is to the people; especially the little guy. She has a tendency to take the life she has for granted.

History: Lana grew up in a poor orphanage in Detroit. She never had much and always had to have someone looking out for her. This is where her oldest friend, Blake Turner comes into the picture. Blake has always been like a mentor to her, despite the fact that he's not even a full decade her senior. Still, he was a rounded young man from the start, and he was destined to go far. And so he did. Blake enlisted after High School, leaving Lana to fend for herself. It was during this period that Lana was hardened. No one was around to really watch her so she had to start watching out for herself.

Lana grew in more ways than one, however. She began to breeze through her classes in High School. Graduating at the top of her class, she had no idea where to go next. But on the eve of her graduation, she found a mysterious note with a bouquet of flowers on her desk in the room. It gave her the contact information of someone named Timothy Lawless. After some quick research, she was able to determine that it was the same man who owned Lawless Publications; a local magazine and comic book publisher. The note didn't say why she was receiving it, and only came with a congratulations.

Upon going to investigate, she is met with the news that Lawless was her father. He was an aging man who founded Lawless Publications because the world was growing cynical and dark. He wanted to remind people that it could be bright again. When the question of Lana's being put up for adoption enters the picture, Tim states that it was for her own good. He wouldn't know what to do with a child or how to raise her. Her mother died in labor. And Lana turned out all right, in the end...despite having never been adopted.

Unable to come to grips with all of this, Lana leaves, truly conflicted. She ultimately keeps her distance for two years. Eventually she decides to finally reconcile with her father. Unfortunately, she reads in the news, that morning, that Tim had been killed the night before. He was allegedly the victim of a mugging. At the reading of his will, it is found that he'd left the company and his estate to her, as well as his personal fortune.

At the funeral reception is where Lana meets another good friend in Maddison Keller. Later, whilst roaming around the estate, she finds a secret passage in his room, behind the mirror in his closet. Upon descending along the downward spiral of stairs, Lana discovers that this is some form of underground base. She looks around and discovers the trophy room, full of newspapers, chronicling the adventures of a famous superhero from decades ago. It would seem that Tim was even older than he already appeared. He was a hero long ago, simply referred to as Peacekeeper, having presumably been an inventor as well, boasting a wide array of gadgets and contraptions. While snooping, she enters a chamber and accidentally activates it, administering a treatment of bizarre gas and lights. When she emerges, she feels different, later discovering her superhuman strength.

Later, Lana decides to carry on Tim's role as a light bringer in this new, darker era, labeling herself Quintessence and using her newfound abilities and his gadgets. However, her first few outings are nightmares. She is inexperienced and ill prepared. Ultimately, she quits. However, when her old friend, Blake, returns to her life, she decides that it's what she's meant for.

Blake helps to train Lana's technical expertise, helping her out as her engineer while Maddie acted as a sort of fence and masked her activities as a personal assistant and informal, among other helpful tasks. Lana would spend her own time studying up on her late father's methods and learning the ins and outs of his arsenal. She trained her body to the physical prime and honed her skills in various martial arts schools and acrobatic/athletic feats. She took to college in study of criminology and by the time she was done with everything she'd need, Quintessence would be ready to take the world by storm. Old Fashioned, often times cheesy, but always ready to dish out some justice.

With Blake acting as her co-engineer, using his military know-how and Maddie using her own background, the three would become a well oiled machine. Lana and Blake develop a wide array of useful gadgets and things, including Lana's trademark Laser Ring, Spectrum Scope, Q-Car, and so-on.

The Powers

Power 1: Superhuman Physiology
Lana possesses Class 7 Superhuman Strength. Considering that the level of crime she challenges tends to vary, this can either be incredibly useful or incredibly dangerous, forcing her to pull her punches for lesser crimes. She also has Class 6 Durability.

Power 2: Superhuman Sense
Quin has a wide variety of enhanced senses. She has telescopic vision, can see in the dark, has superhuman hearing, and an ultra acute sense of smell.
