Ghast Empty Ghast

Ghast
Big, Stupid and Snakey

Basic Biography

Real Name: Ghast
Renegade/Hero/Villain Name: Hydra
Title: Genetic Harbinger 4, Super Tanky variant
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Age: late seventies, looks late thirties
Gender: male
Race: Human/Alien hybrid monstrosity
Hair: swampy green
Eyes: yellow-green
Height: 8’0
Weight: likely around a metric ton
Blood type: Acidic blood, can burn through skin fairly easily but is stopped by more sturdy materials

The Looks

Ghast, at first sight, is a rather unsettling mix of humanoid and reptile.  His facial features are brutish and squared, and his smile seems to be just a bit wider than what is natural.  His hair is long and messy, interrupted by a pair of curled horns coming from the back of his head. Ghast’s nails are untrimmed and fairly sharp, enough to do some amount of damage in conjunction with his ridiculous natural strength. He also has a snakelike tongue, long and forked at the end. What initially seems to be a muscular and buff human torso ends abruptly at his waist, and a snakelike body begins. His snakelike lower half continues for about 15 feet, ending at a rather short and stubby tail. The pattern across his back is rather muddled black and brownish in faint rosette patterns, scales continuing up the back of his more human torso. The only really distinct marking of any sort is a strange tattoo across his chest and bicep, spelling out “GH4-ST” in bold black ink. He also normally does not even bother with clothing, only in very cold conditions will he wear clothing, normally stuff  he has “scavenged”.

The Legacy

Personality:
Ghast’s personality is, for lack of a better word, appalling. He curses like a sailor and is grumpy at best, quick to anger and incredibly violent at worst. He does not get along well with most others, unless he sees a valid reason to work together. He is an outcast from civilization, and he is well aware of it, this makes him rather paranoid of being backstabbed as well. He has even acquired a bit of a taste for human flesh, though the true number of missing persons that he has devoured himself is unknown. But fortunately he is also not the brightest snakemonster in existence, he can easily be outfoxed. And he can also be manipulated rather easily. He has adapted well to being a monster, but he still has his human vices. Ghast for one still enjoys some creature comforts from society, if one offers something he wants he can easily make a deal. He also greatly enjoys any chance to cause chaos or destruction, figuratively jumping at the chance. And while not the most loyal of characters, he does do his best to keep his word.

History:
The snake was actually once a rather downtrodden young human, as hard as that is to believe. The boy, whose name is long since forgotten, grew up in the wrong part of town, and was a frequent troublemaker. He did not know his father at all, and his mother was pretty much nonexistent, so he raised himself for the most part. He worked hard to earn a reputation on the streets as a tough guy, he came very close to joining a well-known gang. But the hazing ritual for him was far more stringent than it should have been, and it changed his life forever.

He hitched a ride to the industrial park, and came to the tall barbed wire perimeter fence of SK Corporation, an animal testing facility. But he and the other guys did not know of the dark secrets that lurked within it, truly. All he knew is that he was tasked with getting himself inside, and stealing a piece of equipment to prove that he was “man enough” to get in in the first place. He took on that challenge with bravado, cutting through the fence with bolt cutters and sneaking in. He did not avoid the gaze of guard dogs, however. They attacked him and he was forced to flee, ducking into the first building he could get to, and accidentally triggering a secret switch.

He found himself in the basement of some strange facility, much too large and much too elaborate to be a place where they were simply testing on animals. There was alien technology in that basement, guns that could render human beings to ash, schematics written in some language he did not understand and bodies, floating in columns of glowing liquid. The animal testing facility had been a front; the facility truly was researching confiscated alien technology. For the first time in his life, the young man was actually scared of what he saw. He tried to run, but ran into a cruel scientist, the very manager of the facility. He knew he could not let him go, if he talked then the entire operation would be ruined, years of research would go down the drain. He grabbed the trespasser and realized something horrible. He could use him for experimental purposes.

The crooked man in charge of the facility was being paid by a private weapons company to see if alien DNA could be used to create super soldiers, and the young man seemed the perfect new experimental subject. His own genetic code was spliced with alien DNA, causing him to slowly mutate into his current form. He was detained for years after that, because of his background most had simply assumed the young man had run away from home or had fled the gang he was trying to get in with. No one missed him. He slowly forgot his name, or what the world outside even really looked like. But he still remembered there was something out there, and he wanted it badly enough to taste it.

His day came when a freak accident destroyed a good portion of the city, taking a good portion of the facility with it. His cage could no longer hold him; the monster broke free and wreaked havoc. Nothing they could put between him and his escape was enough to stop him. Free from his bindings, he clawed his way out of the basement and into the sunlight again. Ghast, as he now called himself, took to living in the shadows, and soon found his new abilities made him near unstoppable by normal means. He went on a bloody rampage before super-powered heroes forced him back into hiding in the sewers, where he lurks now.

The Powers

Power 1: Durability- Ghast has inhuman ability to tank a hit. Hardened and slick scales cancel a good deal of damage with bladed weapons. His human half is more vulnerable, lacking his scaly armor, but he still can take more damage than should be natural.

Power 2: Super Strength- Ghast can easily lift his own weight and then some. He can lift and absolutely stupid amount of weight, but this slows down his already abysmal speed to non-existent. He relies on his snakelike body to help him in this, trying to close the gap by tripping someone up as opposed to chasing after them. Also, lacking legs, he cannot jump at all.

Power 3: Regenerator- Ghast can regenerate limbs or his tail if severed from his body. It does, however take five to ten minutes to do so. During this time he can easily be rendered useless.

Power 4:
