Suggestion for EP-Based Characters

Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
Thought of something while I was working a few weeks back. As we all know the EP rule stands, if you have more than one Power, you are required to split your EP. So for example, if your character has Fire Manipulation and an Energy Shield, you might use 3 EP on each. However, one of the true yet unfortunate sayings for EP characters, was that they felt weak. Why? Because they have to either Lose powers, or reduce their Strength/Potency of their powers.
I've thought of a way to counter this. This is just hypothetical, so feel free to discuss opinions/concerns regarding it. Let's say for example, you wanted two EP-based powers and you didn't want to weaken either of them. My idea is this, you take Points out of your TOTAL Point limit to put them into your EP power.
So, if you want 6 EP Fire manipulation, and a 6 EP Energy shield, then your stats might look like this:
22 pts minus 6: 16 Total Points.
2 Intelligence
2 Durability
2 Strength
2 Speed
6 Energy Projection
2 Fighting Skill
The major complaint with EP based characters having multiple powers before, is that all of their powers were at the maximum level. Level 6. If they had a Level 6 Shield and a Level 6 Attack move, they only spent 6 points to get that. However, a Brawler character has to spend 6 Points in Durability and 6 Points in Strength. Therefore, the Brawler type spends 12 points, and the EP user only spends 6, half the points. THIS way, EP players can invest EP however they wish, at the cost of other stats.
Say you want to boost your other stats? Then of course, like all characters, you would have to reduce something else. Maybe you want a 4 EP Shield, and 6 EP Fire Manipulation. Then you'll have 18 total points to play with.
Thoughts and Questions?

Re: Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
Its a good suggestion, I like the idea and I actually don't think it'd really unbalance anything
I vote yes for this one, though I'll let Pain weigh in since its such a drastic decision
A point I want to make however is that, if the powers are similar, just a few different details such as range or method of employment, they'd be considered the same power and wouldn't need to be split, a perfect example would be http://superhero-rpg.forumotion.com/t2978-hunter-kieff#47218] Hunter

This doesn't happen too often.... It would just be finding Multiple Purposes to the same EP power. However they still have to fall into a singular category in the EP Rules. http://superhero-rpg.forumotion.com/t2268-new-rule-regarding-ep-characters
An example would be when Sean (WallaceWells) who is a Water Manipulator, pushed the water around him aside to create a bubble pocket of Air. Technically its breathing under water, but under the same ability as Water manipulation. Not all characters can have multiple uses to their powers, and none of them can use Attack Powers for Defensive shields. Using attack powers to counterattack other attack powers are different.
Here's an example, what if someone wanted an EP Attack power, and Health Regeneration? Without weakening their attack, they can have both.

I agree with this
it allows you to make a more diverse Ep character without having to split points

Re: Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
Essentially we would be allowing people to have two or more EP bars. Not a bad idea. Kinda just complicates things, but I can see why some people would want it.
I assume we could make their powergrids look something like this:
INT: 2
STR: 2
SPD: 3
END: 3
EP: 6 (Example: Water manipulation)
EP: 3 (Example: Regeneration)
FS: 3

Re: Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
I like this, it doesn't over power a character and it makes things more balanced without tipping the scale back over to EP powered people. This is a pretty good idea. I like it.

Re: Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
I love this idea; it was actually one of the first things I thought of when I read the EP users rule. I vote "yes" on this proposal!

Can we put this to a vote or something so we can either pass it through or reject it?

Re: Suggestion for EP-Based Characters
I do like certain aspects of this rule but it does not look like it will be implemented, so your approval is nullified.
