Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
"Three days of blistering pain. I was fine one moment and the next my skin was being eaten alive by acid according to the doctor. They didn't know how my skin didn't dissolve into nothing." BlackOut could tell that the memory was painful for her as she looked away. He was about to say something comforting when Prometheus interrupted from behind.
"So tell me Gentlemen and Lady what do you need metal for, would want to stop people from finding, would need people for, and would result in smoke?”
It was good question and not one that Black had an answer for. Grace’s suggestion of the alien building robots seemed feasible. It would make sense seeing as all of the metal in the area was gone. Maybe that could explain the missing civilians as well. Maybe the aliens were using them for labor or something. Black shrugged he really didn’t care much about what they were up to. He was here to stop them, and help the people of SeaCove city. That’s what he intended to do regardless of what the “aliens” were working on.
More than anything what bothered him was the total lack of any kind of enemy presence. Aside from the mortar fire on the helicopter, and the obvious lack of metal in the streets, there was really no indication that anything other than them was even inside of this barrier. If someone was doing something so important that they need to block all surveillance and communication attempts from the outside, wouldn’t make sense that they would be out in force, defending their work from the small army of super humans that had just been dropped into the city. They couldn’t have seriously thought that a halfhearted mortar strike would kill all of them. There was definitely something off here. He thought to himself when someone spoke.
"I need a better look at what we're heading into. I'm heading up this building right here." Black looked up to see the large African American man, Justice already scaling the building. It probably was a good idea, and it was better than just waiting and possibly walking right into a trap.
“I’ll join you” Black said lifting off from the ground and him propelling himself upward toward the building with a discharge of electrical energy. “See anything?" he asked landing on the roof of the building next to Justice. “Maybe an army of alien monster coming to make sure that the mortar strike killed us.” He joked sitting down and kicking his legs out over the side so they could dangle over the side of the building. “Honestly I think I would prefer that, this “warzone” is a little too quiet. It’s creeping me out, not to mention this is boring as shit.” He laughed looking up to Justice from his perch.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
James sighed as he listened to the replies from the other members of the eclectic group. Something about their conclusions just didn't sit right with him, he just couldn't shake the feeling that the whole thing was a staging ground. He found the whole scene rather desolate ----even given his perceptions of Humans. There was just nothing about the situation that seemed invigorating a glum pall was the only real palpable term that could be attributed to the environment. Of course this really was one of the things people could quickly learn about James he would rapidly go from finding something fascinating to mind numbing. Turning his unwieldy frame towards his left outwardly resuming his study of the abandoned camp, though in fact he was attempting to apply his rather considerable ability to detach himself from situations for a more analytical analysis. It wasn't a particularly satisfying exercise in any case as it didn't really turn up anything new. Additionally, the scenery left quite a lot to be desired the makeshift camp was a shambles wooden tables, stands, bits of wood, the odd wooden chair --- Indeed he questioned the sanity of anyone that thought wood would make a good barrier or defence against an enemy with energy weapons and the ability to shield an entire city.
Hearing a ruckus coming from behind him on the other side of the street he rather indignantly turned his unwieldy frame towards the source of the noise only to be greeted by the sight of the large African-American fellow leaping towards a fire escape and begin to make his way up the building. Not to be out done he watched as the man in yellow and black promptly took off flying towards the top of the building. "Well I might as well make myself comfortable" briefly searching his suit he produced his gravimetric lifter, targeting a nearby chair in the camp he pulled it towards himself releasing the field and stopping the chairs movement with his hand ----taking a brief moment to restore his lifter to its usual place in his suit. Hurling himself into the chair with a hint of an uncouth physical inertia James was seated and began to wait. Retracting his defence stick he pocketed it. Reaching once more towards his wrist computer he punched a few functions bringing up a digital piano ---- taking a brief moment he slowly began to play a piano arrangement of Dvorak's New World Symphony.
Not stopping his play he began to voice his grievances about the situation "It must be understood that this is not my métier. I do so hate altering my routines and habits --- Indeed I spent the better part of several centuries going out of my way to establish routine. I do so miss existence in civilized society. Still at least Humanity's music is tolerable at times. Am I the only confused as to why we didn't take a car? I mean really all this unnecessary walking and running to and fro, but such is the wisdom of generals ignoring past examples of air borne operations resulting in scattered forces. Primitive though it may be the car certainly seems more preferable to my eyes than having been forced to fall through the sky in a giant metal box."
Once again deactivating his wrist computer James slumped back in his chair as he awaited the group to resume forward motion.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Justice would look over as blackout came flying up with him to the top of the building. Both were looking over as if there was something interesting over there, yet there was nothing in sight. Justice would then listen to Blackout's comment about an army of alien monsters. Justice smiled a bit at his comment and quite frankly he agreed with him. This whole scene was boring. Justice expected them to have to fight their way to the police department.
"Yeah man, I hear ya. I expected us to be fighting our way to where we have to go, not.. not just walking through a ghost town. That mortar strike was like a tease. Got me all hyped up to fight and all. It's just endless street up ahead. Nothing alarming up ahead that I can see."
Justice would say as he looked back at Blackout. Justice just found this boring now. Now they were going to have to walk who knows how long to the police department with no entertainment for them. This place certainly was creepy, seeing as no one ever came out of this place. What could be in here that prevented citizens and soldiers from coming back out? It was just all one big puzzle right now. One that Justice was willing solve.
"You think any of the other groups made contact with anything yet?"
Justice would say as he looked at Blackout. There really wasn't much to talk about around here. They already knew enough about each other, Justice thought. All that surrounded them were empty buildings and makeshift camps, and you can only discuss about those things so much. No one had no idea what was in this place to start off with too, so only so many speculations can be thought of.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Gracie sighed as both of the men who would probably be the fighters in their group left to do scouting which made her feel even more nervous and exposed to the things around her. She didn't think Computer-Guy would help her if they had to have a fight with someone on the streets. Her thoughts were confirmed when he whipped out a gadget to retrieve a chair from one of the campers abandoned tents, and then he sat down and complained a bit more. Gracie looked up at the sky and mentally cursed whatever force there was at work here, who had left her with Prom and his moaning. A car would have been good though, so would any kind of transportation. She decided to just let the comment slide and only slightly touched the topic.
"I could of built you a car in a week if I'd have had metal, or I could have hot wired one if there had been one here but there isn't," she said matter of factly. It wasn't in a boating way, just a simple statement as to what she could do. Actually, she could still picture the books she had read on car engines and building one from the start up. It took a lot of doing but with her power as well, she could have done it in a smaller amount of time. She watched him settle his large frame in to the chair to settle down for the long haul and Gracie's eyes travelled to the tents and the belongings still inside of them. Carefully she walked over to them, wondering away from the protection of her group members and meandering around the colourful tents.
It was quite sad to see that all this was going on in a large city. As she looked into the tents briefly she could see the belongings which spoke of their lives, their fondest memories. Things they could carry in a short time that obviously mattered enough for them to bring it along with food and water. She passed a larger, family sized tent and caught something out of her eye. She was a good way away from the others now as she ducked inside the tent, reaching for the thing which had caught her eye. A teddy bear. He was brown, had lost fur and only had one eye. The bear was smiling a sad little smile as if he knew what had happened here and knew he had been left behind. She gently stroked over the soft fabric and brought it close to her face and sniffed slowly. The smell had worn off from it's previous home which meant it had been here a while. She kept it close to her as she glanced to what it had been sitting on, a slim black diary. She carefully picked it up and shifted her weight, crouching whilst cradling the teddy in her arms and leafing through the diary. Dates jumped out at her and entries in long slim handwriting which was worse on some days. A photo fell to the floor of a perfect family unit; a mom and a dad, an older son holding his little sister who was holding the bear Gracie held on to now. She didn't know why but she felt a sudden wave of grief. That family was gone, four lives just gone and so young. She glanced down to the diary entry she had landed on.
Day 25,
I'm scared. I nearly got grabbed by one of the gangs today but they got Izzy, oh my god they got Izzy. Dad had gone looking for mum again and they had attacked the group suddenly, I thought they'd take me and not for a 6 year old! I tried to fight them off but they shot me in the leg, I can't walk, I'll just slow dad down. I told him to go on, that the
Gracie blinked at it ended there. The rest of the page was ripped out and flecks of brown littered the pages. She sighed and rested the book on her head. One of the gangs? She flicked back through the diary, quickly trying to find some mention of gangs but in her brief scan she couldn't see anything. She could also hear footsteps approaching rather quickly. Ducking out of the tent quickly she got ready to bring up a shield and was relieved when she saw the others approaching, they must have wondered what was taking her so long. She probably looked a sight with a teddy with dried blood on his paws tucked under her arm and a dog earred diary in her other hand.
"Apparently there are gangs around here, they snatched people," she said, glancing to the three men. She flicked the diary to the page she'd read and handed it to BlackOut who was in the middle, so the others could read over his shoulder.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Black stared of into the distance, his eyes scanned over the seemingly desolate landscape. There was nothing as far as he could see, aside from the smoke on the horizon. It was a ghost town. "You think any of the other groups made contact with anything yet?" Justice asked turning to Black. He was wondering the same thing, there was really no way to tell but it was a good question.
“I don’t know.” He shrugged standing up from the side of the roof. "But I guess the faster we get to the police station the sooner we find out.” He turned to Justice and let out a short laugh. Black then turned back look down the deserted and seemingly endless road ahead of them. “We might as well go back, there’s nothing to see up here anyway.” He said floating upward off the roof and flew back toward the spot where they had left Grace and Prometheus.
Swooping down he spotted Prometheus sitting on the street alone in a wooden chair the Black assumed that he scavenged from one of the roadside refugee camps. The armored man was slumped down into the chair, waiting for the rest of the team returned. “Comfy?” he asked sarcastically, landing gently o the pavement in front of Prometheus. “Where’s Grace?” Prometheus motioned toward the side of the road to one of the clusters of tents. Black made his way over to the camp to let her know they were going to get moving again. Stepping around one of the wooden barriers he took a quick look around the abandoned camp. It was a sad sight, some of the tents were over turned and peoples most precious belongings strewn on the ground. He could only hope that the people who had occupied this place were okay though he knew that it was a long shot.
Walking thought the camp he saw one of the tents start to open out of the corner of his eye. Looking up he saw Grace emerge from within the tent. She had a small black book in her hand and a teddy bear under her arm. Black looked at her and smiled almost breaking into a chuckle. “I like your bear.” He could tell from her reaction that she had seen something in there. “What is it?” he asked.
"Apparently there are gangs around here, they snatched people," Grace said as she opened the book and handed it to him.
Black took the book scanning the half ripped blood stained page. Looking up he was shocked to see that Prometheus and Justice were now standing beside him. Handing the diary to Prometheus he felt himself getting angry. BlackOut’s normal laid back demeanor shifted as he became more serious. “If there are gangs around here that are kidnapping innocent people to do god knows what with, I have to do something." He said to his teammates, glancing to each one of them and then down to the blood stained teddy bear that was under Grace’s arm. "So what do you guys want to do?”

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Justice had came down from the roof with Blackout to go see what the others were doing. Both noticed Prometheus sitting in the chair he had brought to himself. Justice would give a slight smile at Blackout's comment to him as they continued walking to where Gracie was. Once they reached her, she was making her way out of one of the tents. Gracie would then hand a book, which looked like a diary, to Blackout. He would give a quick skim at the book and saw things about gangs and kidnappings. He would then watch as Blackout would start to get all heroic on them claiming that he has to do something about this. He was right, but given the sight they were at now they had nothing to worry about any of that. Lucky for those gang members too because Justice would have killed each and every one of them given the chance. He would listen as Blackout would ask what they should do. Justice would look at the four.
"About that gang situation we really can't do anything now. It sounds bad but we should get moving and just get to this police station already cause I think we're kind of behind."
Justice would say as he would think back at the little side detours they had taken instead of going on a direct route to the station. It was time to get back on track and find out what was going on in this place. Justice would look in the direction they had to go and would give a hand motion as if to say. "c'mon let's go." He would take a few steps and then look back to see if the others were following him. In the process he would spit out the old piece of gum he had and reach in his bag for a new piece, tossing it in his mouth.
"Maybe along the way we will figure that whole gang situation out if we continue on our own mission."
Justice would say so it didn't make it seem like he was completely ignoring the fact that what those gangs did was wrong. He would then turn back in the direction that they had to go in and start walking again. He would give a little jump to pick his bag, that felt like it was slumping, up. This ghost town was lonely as anything even though he had the company of the other three. You could tell this place was a populated area due to the numerous tents that were around. As he walked, he would start to kick a can that was on the ground. There really wasn't much else to do but finish this mission because this was not as exciting as Justice had originally thought. It was probably due to the lack of enemies that were kind of hyped up back in the camp. Justice was itching for some enemy beating right now.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Gracie took the book back and then cast her deep brown eyes back down at the pages. She was going to read this in more detail, it might give them more clues. She felt ill that someone would do something like that to children, the guy sounded like he was her age which would make his little sister very young. She pulled the Teddy closer to her with small frown. Some girl had loved this bear deeply and now she was god knows where, scared.
"We need to find her, these people, we can't just leave them to it here... But the Police station might have something in it which is useful," she said slowly. She slipped the diary into her pocket slowly and held the bear under her arm, she had already sworn to herself she was going to get that girl back and give her the bear back. She twisted her hair up into a pony tail, parts of her bangs falling down, to short to be tied up but she looked more military now, like she meant business. The ring that she wore round her neck had wriggled out of her top and bounced against her chest now instead of hiding between her cleavage.
"Which means we need to get there quick," she said decisively. Walking was going to take them forever, they needed some kind of transport.
"Wait right here," the teenager ordered and gave Black Out the teddy which sat snugly in his arms as she ducked into the tent.
10 minutes later Gracie was back with the things she needed to make what she wanted. Humming she began to twist cable and wires together with some wheels, a skate board and a toboggan and Gracie had soon made a electrical toboggan.
"Right," she wiped some dirt off of her cheek. It was big enough to get them all on if she stood on the skateboard at the front. "Hop in! Not sure if this will work, it'll be interesting," she mused and stepped into the board. She hadn't been on a board since spring. The wires on the skate board acted like a car pedal, accelerate and break, steering would be done by the guy in the back. She'd told Justice what to do with it when they needed to turn. After looking at the map Prom had she stepped onto the board again and then pressed down on the pedal. Slowly they eased forward. Thankfully, instead of petrol, Gracie could just use her power as an energy, looping electricity round the circuit.
"Hold on!" she laughed as they shot down the hill on a toboggan and a skateboard.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
“I love it when a woman takes charge.” he said smiling taking the battered little toy bear into his arms. He knew his remark was it was kind of inappropriate given their current situation but he just couldn’t help himself, it was his nature. Grace went to work as she disappearing into a nearby tent. BlackOut leaned back against one of the makeshift wooden walls that surrounded the cluster of tents that had once housed some of the displaced residents of SeaCove. He looked up at the sky for a moment to see if the strange transparent dome was still there. It was, it still hung in the sky high above them a quiet reminder of how dire the situation was. Until they got to the bottom whatever the hell was going on here they were trapped.
He let out a short sigh, and he tried not to think about the survivors who despite surviving whatever had been done this to the city, had to suffer at the hands of other people. Their whole world had gone to hell, and just when they thought it couldn’t get any worse a bunch of monsters decided to take advantage of them while they were at their lowest point. Black looked down at the teddy bear that Grace had handed him, he ran his hand across the stuffed toy’s fur, watching as flecks of dirt and dried blood floated down to the ground. He wouldn’t allow it to continue, he would do his best to save these people.
A few minutes passed as he and Justice stood waiting for Grace to return. He wondered what she had in mind. She was quite determined to help these people, the little girl who owned the bear especially. Black looked up seeing the tent’s flap open and grace emerge with what looked like an armful of scraps.
Working quickly she fashioned that pile of junk into some kind of vehicle in a matter of minutes. BlackOut was amazed and very impressed by her skill. As he climbed aboard the vehicle, he could have flown alongside of it but he was trying to conserve his energy as much as possible, and beside what fun would that be. Taking his place on the sled he couldn’t help but wonder how it worked. Though he probably wouldn’t understand it if it was explained to him. Grace eased on the accelerator and the contraption eased forward slowly, and then shot down a hill. BlackOut had a small smile growing on his face in anticipation. He was amped up, it was most likely just the adrenaline rush that usually accompanied this kind of reckless behavior but never the less he was excited.

Re: So it begins... (Ember Fangs, Prometheus, Blackout)
Justice would look at the girl a bit confused on what to do with his part of the machinery, but she continued to explain it to him as if he understood what she was saying. He would just nod his head as the information would come into his head yet barely stayed in. Justice would get onto the back, holding on to his part of the machine the Gracie had built. Justice would look over at the girl. She obviously was smart and she had pretty powerful powers, boy she could definitely wipe the floor with Justice's ass. Justice would watch as he held on to his mechanical part trying his best to steer around ever time he would get a signal to do so. They were making much better time now that they had this machine that she built to get there. Justice wasn't sure if anyone else could yet, but he was able to see the police department coming up.
"Yo look ahead, it's coming up in like another 8 minutes I would say."
Justice would talk to them as if they could see it completely forgetting that his senses were heightened to a point above their's. From what Justice could see about the place was that it looked like any old police department, just more empty looking. No police cars were out in front of the building, all of the parking meters, street lights, etc were gone. The big letters that would spell "Seacove Police Department" were all snatched off only leaving the etched out, dustless parts of where the letters used to be. None of the windows even seemed to exist on this building because the metal beams around them were gone. Heading up the steps the railings were ripped out of the ground that led all the way up to the front doors, or whatever was left of them.
"That place looks just as deserted as the rest of this place."

** Sorry I haven't replied but I think we should start an open topic at the police station as I think other groups are heading there too, it'd be interesting to meet up with others, if someone wants to do that? **
