Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

Weaknesses
In the times of old, before we had powergrids, we had a system where you got points based on your post count.
As you can guess, this turned out bad, since it was horribly unfair to new members and it didn't account for spam posts. I hated it myself, since I actually had a low post count in those days.
But it had one redeeming quality in that people got extra points for weaknesses their characters had. Weak to loud noises? Great, here's an extra point you can use for your powers.
So I was wondering if we could have weaknesses give someone extra point(s) on their powergrid depending on how radical the weakness was. What do you guys think? This is a basic idea.

Re: Weaknesses
Well, wouldn't it also be a good idea to make a thread overcoming that weakness? As in, if you don't like broccoli... make a thread eating as much broccoli as you can without puking. It really depends on the level of weakness it is.
If you're just normally really, really weak... then you'd make a thread and post enough to get the points worth the stat point.
Could you perhaps list some weaknesses that you have in mind? o.O

Re: Weaknesses
Of course.
1) Weakness to loud noises.
2) Weakness to iron: Touching iron burns you for whatever reason.
3) There's a Rogue weakness. Someone who literally cannot turn off their power. If they have a power like Rogue does, this can be severely bad.
Just to name a few.

Re: Weaknesses
Is it not a weakness? I didn't mention something like kryptonite, because I doubt kryptonite will be common on Earth.
Iron is very, very common. Someone will have an unbelievably difficult time living in today's world if they can't touch iron.

Re: Weaknesses
It would be a weakness, yes. But it still remains ridiculous. It's like being weak to water. ._.

Re: Weaknesses
There were actually several people during the old system who had weaknesses to water and sunlight.

Re: Weaknesses
I understand sunlight because they could be weak to the ultraviolet rays, but water is a necessity for life. ._.

Re: Weaknesses
This isn't a terrible idea Nightkill, but if we gave people extra power-points for having 'weaknesses' our entire grid system could easily be broken. Think about it like this, lets say someone gave them-self a weakness like loud noises, and got a free point for it. They'd be stronger then any other new character, and would only have that drawback against a select few of other characters. So pretty much they'd have a pretty major bonus for a situation that would only happen maybe once or twice in there entire RP time. Also, it's a rule that a character can always turn down a fight, so this person could always just never fight a opponent who could use his weakness against him. This pretty much can relate to any weakness, which is why we couldn't imply a rule like this.
I also don't think that characters who have drawbacks don't need bonuses. They chose to gave them self that weakness so they could make there character more interesting, and so that they could possible at some point have a topic where it's used against them and they have to try to push there characters limitations and overcome that weakness. Granted some weakness could really mess with a character in certain situations, I don't think it's fair for them to have a bonus all the time for a weakness that only effects them some of the time.

Re: Weaknesses
I think that it would be great to get a bonus point (tough no more than 1-2 at most, for balancing reasons) for having a weakness, given that the weakness had been accepted as such (kryptonite being the best example).
As it is now, I'd never give a character a weakness, because that would make him utterly useless in any fight that involved any sort of tactic, seeing as how characters are usually well-informed about other metahuman's powers.
Then again, for this to work, the weakness should be pretty severe! Like, if one had a weakness to cold, they'd be practically powerless when affected by it, perhaps retaining base human power-levels.

Re: Weaknesses
I say keep the system how it currently is. If someone has chosen to have those weaknesses, that's their idea and they shouldn't be 'rewarded' for it with an extra point, it doesn't make sense. Its a weakness.
