Bones McGraw
Real Name: Kenneth Cross
Hero Name: Bones McGraw
Title: The Undead Detective
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Age: He was 18 when he died but he has been dead since 1985 which makes him chronologically closer to 43 years old.
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Undead)
Hair: He had messy blonde hair when he died but after spending 25 years decaying he kind of lost it all.
Eyes: His eyes used to be bright green but one of them was gouged out when he was murdered, and the other one fell out a few years later.
Height: 5'11
Weight: 16lb (He is just a skeleton)
Costume Description/Image: Image. Bones's suit is primarily made out of tough leather, underneath that are a couple of layers of kevlar. The silver "ribcage" decorations on his chest are metal however. The helmet is made of steel except for the eyes and other detailing which are made of reinforced glass. The Scarf and Hat are just there to look cool. Unlike the picture Bones's suit does not have the same belt buckle, instead he has a belt buckle like A Stylized Skull
Personality: Bones has a lot of survivor guilt, since he himself cannot die (at least not properly) he gets incredibly upset when someone dies nearby him, especially if he feels he could have saved them. He's rather whiny, if he runs into a dead end during a case then he'll start to wallow in his misery and then moan about he can't drown his sorrows in alcohol, and then moan about how he can't get drunk and then bitch about anything else until someone either snaps him out of his hissy fit. Bones no longer considers himself as Kenneth Cross.
But when he sets his mind to it Bones can be an incredibly competent detective. With incredible skills at deduction, tracking and fighting Bones can prove himself a deadly threat especially if lives are in danger and he needs to do something then Bones can think out a plan of action quickly, and while on the move. Bones does not take lives unless he has either no other choice, or the person in question is a particularly nasty person.
History: Bones McGraw is nothing more than an urban legend around his city. "Be good or Bones will get you," A mother would say to her child, "If you keep going the way you're going you'll run into Bones McGraw," A Policeman would casually mention to a teenage delinquent. People would say stories about the fabled Undead Detective, tales of violence, or sex, funny jokes whatever they could. What those people don't realise is that Bones McGraw is a very real entity.
Born on a small Sheffield estate in 1967 to Scottish Parents Kenneth Cross was a child obsessed with Private Investigators and Detectives. He read Sherlock Holmes, Dick Tracy and all the other Detective novels before he started getting into Film Noir. When he was 16 he'd managed to wangle his way into getting a job as a Private Detective's secretary, filing paperwork, phoning the police and clients, making tea. While Kenneth dealt with the admin his mentor, Jack Harsh (Real name Steven Piper) would be out roughing up the criminal underworld, deducing schemes and generally being amazing. Jack did occasionally let Kenneth have the occasional oddity he'd get from a case, the first of which was the amulet that later gave him his abilities.
After a couple of years Jack let Kenneth come with him on a case. An angry Jack and an incredibly giddy Kenneth tracked down a pair of child pornographers and rescued a kidnapped child. Then one raised a gun and shot the two detectives dead. His partner approached the child ready to grab her back when Kenneth got up, blood oozing from a gunshot wound to the chest and the amulet that Jack had given him two years prior boring into his chest, two more shots were fired. Kenneth sat up again, this time with three bloody spots on his chest. The closer man drew a switchblade and gouged his eye out before two more shots were fired into Kenneth's belly. Then he got up again and they got the message: Kenneth Cross wasn't dying. What followed was Kenneth delivering a brutal beating to the two men, and then placing the child outside her house.
That was when Kenneth hit a brick wall, with a new set of powers and no guiding hand what could he do? After a few weeks spent testing his limits, burning/shooting/tearing off most of his skin, flesh and several internal organs in the process and finding out that his powers stemmed from the amulet that Jack had given to him a couple of years ago he decided to patrol the city of Sheffield, beating up criminals and then leaving them for the police and adopting the pseudonym "Bones McGraw".
He has recently had to build a suit of armour for himself after realizing that he has no muscles left and is rather easy to beat up. The suit puts him more on par with the people he fights but he is still slow and (beneath his suit) brittle.
Powers And Weapons: Bones cannot die unless the amulet he was given by Jack is removed, the amulet is a Small Grey Locket with a pattern cut into the surface and a blue light glowing from within. He can lose his heart, blood, skin and even his brain (Sorry, he has lost his heart, blood, skin and brain ... and everything except his skeleton) but as long as that amulet remains intact he will still remain up and about. The amulet floats in the middle of his ribcage (where his heart should be, with an eerie blue fluid floating around inside him emanating from the amulet (like blood but without any vessels). The fluid is harmless but glows bright blue and seems to be what keeps him alive. Removing the amulet causes Bones's "Blood" to slow down and start fading away, once it's gone he stops moving and falls apart giving him a chance to get it back, without the amulet (blood or not) Bones is mortal and can be killed by conventional means.
As long as the amulet is on he cannot heal from injuries and as a result he is just a very brittle skeleton. Bones's new skeletal nature was a bit of a weakness, his lack of muscles makes him very weak but the armour he wears makes him just about strong enough to fight the average person. His lack of a nervous system doesn't appear to have affected him very much, he can still think, talk, see and even feel despite not having the appropriate organs.
Bones wields a Heavily modified pistol that in addition to bullets fires smoke pellets (for dramatic effect). The gun has a large magazine and can fire semi or fully automatic rounds.

Character Image/Description: The 18 year old Kenneth Cross was a young Caucasian male with severe acne and unmanageable blonde hair. He had very bright green eyes and the starting of a really shit moustache. He was of about average height and build and was not particularly remarkable, just a normal looking teen living in a fairly normal city. At current he looks a lot less average, partly due to the fact he's a skeleton. He is basically nothing but bones, but he's missing the little toe on his right foot, and his left arm has been burnt black and is starting to crack. Oh yes, and there is a glowing amulet thingy floating in the middle of his chest with a load of blood vessels around it that make him take on an eerie blue glow.
Roleplay Sample: Bones McGraw brought his left leg up fast, unfortunately his target grabbed it and tried to throw him to the ground. Instead of going down, Bones stepped up off the persons hand, span round and wrapped his legs around his neck bringing him crashing to the floor. He heard his bones jangle as the two men hit the floor. Hard.
Bones glanced up, the first thief was out stone cold on the floor of the convenience store but two more balaclava sporting hoods rushed up to him. The first one brought a chain down at the undead detective, who pulled himself across the ground hoisted himself onto the counter in one fluid movement and kicked at him. The robber thought fast, throwing the chain around Bones's leg and dragging him back to the floor. Bones looked up again to see both men punch down towards his face.
A pair of hands shot out clutched their fists and pulled up on them bringing the fabled detective back to his feet. Bones brought his right leg up and kicked the thug with the chain into the canned foods isle. The second one hit him round the back of the head and Bones fell forwards (for a third time). He tried to get up but instead was hit on the back with both of the man's fists, and again, and again, and again, and a-
Bones rolled aside just as the man came in for another slam, leaving the criminal to fall flat on his face, and Bones to drag him up, take his accomplice's chain (which had been lying on the ground) and tie them to a refrigerator, before taking the first one to fall unconscious and hogtie him with his jeans and jacket, stuffing his balaclava in his mouth. Bones walked out of the convenience store, pleased to have done his civic duty.

So, he's just a hand-to-hand fighter? That's kinda cool. But, err.. If he needs to use weapons, list the few that he uses.. GUNS, probably being his number one choice, am I right? (: Let's see you list those and then I guess.. Well. :]
If no one objects... then you're gonna be approved. (:

Objection overruled!
I added a bit about his gun and um ... that's it.

Re: Bones McGraw
Pretty cool sample and a fairly original idea, but I have a few problems. For starters, Immortality is frowned upon in an RP site. The chance of death is what makes things interesting; if you can never die, what's the point of fighting you? No one will want to RP against someone who will never lose. Maybe you could have a fatal flaw (no pun intended) or weakness that no one knows about. It would have to be fairly significant though. Irrelevant weaknesses (Oh-noes! I'm super allergic to unununium! Hope there's not a high-profile scientific laboritory creating it nearby while we fight) are about as useful as paper canoes.
Second, where do your powers come from? I assume they are some sort of magic development or curse (unless you can explain immortality with science o0 ), so just toss the origins in there somewhere. HOW did Bones here become immortal?
Next, What can he take? You said he heals at the normal human rate, but to what extent? If he got hit by a bomb, can he regenerate from it? How long would that take? How small of a piece can he regenerate from? Standard human bones cant regenerate after they've taken enough damage.
Lastly, though this seems like a moot point in comparison, you have only 21 points on your app. Its 20 or 22 for flyers/non-flyers respectively.

Re: Bones McGraw
Okay, for a weakness how about this: He can't die except by decapitation. In other words if his head comes off then he dies for real.
I can't think of an origin though, any suitably cool ideas anyone?

Re: Bones McGraw
he is the chosen guardian of Themis, roman goddess of justice. Or any other god/ess of justice. Surely there is something super natural at work to keep him alive.
Perhaps an amulet that keeps him animated or some kind of talisman?

Re: Bones McGraw
Too easy. You've got to have it like... embedded in his skull.. or it mocks his heart or something.. Lol.

It's embedded in his sternum, (that bit that connects the ribs together) good enough?

>_>; Still too easy to get too. xD You should have it posing as his heart or something.. that way they have to get through the armor, and crack your ribs, or skillfully stab between them and knock it out of sync. =D

Re: Bones McGraw
Or even better, the amulet should be in parts. Each piece of it could be where a vital organ should be found. This is what keeps him operating and functioning like a regular human being. He would be more resilient then a human being however, because not only took it take the destructing of the heart, but the brain and etc
This is of course if you want to do that. This is your character, after all.
