The Looks
Nora was a beautiful, tanned, Asiatic enchantress. Today she is a little gray tabby cat with an amulet around her neck.
The Personality
Nora's traumatic early years, the loss of her father, and her mother's subsequent moral degeneracy had ruined her to close relationships, and made her intensely suspicious of anyone who got close to her. She understood early on that her being born of a witch family attracted others to her appearance, and she couldn't open up to anyone without thinking they had only fallen under her spell.
However, later on, With her talents and sudden increase in wealth and status, and a lack of emotional maturity, Nora had a deep inferiority complex where she always has a need to prove herself to be better than others. Everything is a competition to her, and this attitude has made her no small number of enemies, and she does not apologize for her temper or for speaking her mind, which makes her even more enemies. Nora is the type of woman who can’t stop betting even after consecutive losses or close her mouth when she's ripping someone a new one for their perceived 'weakness' or 'worthlessness'.
Her redeeming quality, if it could be called that, was her life long fondness for stray cats. She had never lost her childhood affinity for them. Becoming a cat has not yet dampened her fiery personality, though any thoughts of immediate revenge have been cooled by her first nights on the streets. Time will tell if she lets her grudge go and embrace a quieter life, or be hell bent on getting a human body again.
The Story
Nora Ascuncion was born in a certain island in the Philippine Islands, with a strong affinity for the supernatural and the largest concentration of homo magi from that region. Nora Ascuncion belonged to the Salazar family of Mangkukulams, sorcerer bloodlines who had strong dealings with the supernatural. Young Nora could remember her grandmother pass away in her youth, a kind old lady who was the village Albularya, or medicine woman.
Her mother, Eleanora Salazar, did not quite have her talent for healing, but was able to catch the eye of a farmer, Nora’s father Carlos. Carlos Asuncion was a simple man who lived by the sweat of his brow, who planted crops, fixed pipes, electrical wiring, and built houses from bamboo as much as from concrete. They married and had Nora not long after. Nora’s first duties on the farm was the feeding of the many stray cats who protected the family granary, developing an affinity for them. It was during this time Nora also discovered a fear for dogs, for almost all canines could sense her witch blood. She had been attacked in her youth, badly bitten, and it has been a life long fear of hers.
Carlos was not a wealthy man, but he earned enough to keep his wife comfortable and send his daughter to private school. It was in high school that Nora’s abilities manifested, gaining the attention of many boys, including the resident rich kid Lorenzo. Lorenzo sadly, kept a German Shepard, and when the hound attacked her at his family mansion, Nora had bewitched Lorenzo to kill his own dog. The traumatized teenaged boy nearly killed himself not long after. Lorenzo’s family was furious, and brought in not only the police but also the Catholic Church. Carlos went to prison rather than have her daughter come to harm; he died under mysterious circumstances not long after.
They had no choice but to leave the country. Nora’s life in the Philippines was over. Her life in America would now begin.
Eleanora was an older woman now, and had to rely heavily on her charms and potions to land wealthy suitors to feed a comfortable lifestyle. She neglected a 16-year-old, emotionally damaged Nora, who eventually ran away to make her own path. She was found by a community of young American magicians and wizards, and while her knowledge was in a different language, her grasp of the basics was solid. She had a proven ability in potions and enchantment, and grew up with a hard and fast crowd.
Nora gained a reputation for talent with hypnotism and magic over the next decade. Unfortunately, she also developed an insecurity complex, having a chronic need to prove herself capable. Nora lived a high rolling, high-risk high-profile life, always controversial and the center of attention where she went. She earned millions and spent millions on a whim. Her L.A. Penthouse hosted wild parties. She dared to work for both sides of magical gang wars. She had fast cars, big fancy homes, bags, shoes, wardrobes.
Her luck would run out when she crossed a Tikbalang Lord Mob boss, rendering the boss’s son a vegetable. In retaliation they sent in magical mannequin assassins to deal with her. Not to mention all the high explosives. Unprepared and unable to extricate herself from the tower, she activated a contingency plan involving an amulet that contained all of her memories, a drop of her blood and possibly her own soul, and magically bound it to her familiar, a little gray brown tabby she had adopted from the street as a kitten. The tabby was sent down the garbage chute, and as Nora’s life was ended by the killer mannequins, the amulet activates, and Nora finds herself minutes later sitting in a pile of garbage, in an alley full of street cats.
Well. At least they’ll think I’m dead now.
Nora has her work cut out for her. As an enchanter, she never had what you call real friends. That her work involves incredibly ethically dubious memory alterations, means she has a fell reputation. Time and again she's backstabbed people on her way up, and she has spurned more than a few classmates and ex-lovers for advancement. It is unlikely she can visit the nearest Master Necromancer and ask for her body to be cloned. Even her Cabal of memory magi was really just a loose association of work acquaintances, and what few times they reach out socially, Nora shut them down. She had been estranged from her mother for years.
In a manner of speaking, fate bit her back in the ass. Hard.

The Powers
Once a master of the enchantment school, being relocated into a cat has severely limited her to her to more basic spells.
Enchantment School:
Meow-ster Enchanter (Innate) - Subjects who are hypnotized, charmed or put to magical sleep do not remember the incident, instead have warm fuzzy thoughts about cats.
Tele-purr-thy – Nora can speak with a living thing with language. Cats though, can only convey what they saw recently, or communicate basic concepts. “Food” “Water” “danger” “Shelter” “play” “cuddle” “Want to mate” and the like. She can also command lots of cats at the same time.
Do-meow-nate Felines – With but an instance of eye contact, Nora can bring cats, any cats (including big cats), under her control. Hunger or sleep are the only limiting factor, and after awhile will depart to feed themselves or take a nap, so it is never a large crowd, at most 30 or 40 at a time. They will also attack at her command, but flees at the slightest injury.
Will somebody shut that cat up – Nora meows and hisses, loudly and incessantly. This will cause non-hostile listeners in her immediate vicinity to put distance between themselves and the cat.
Hyp-meow-tic gaze – Any living things that meet Nora’s gaze, are hypnotized, rooted to the spot. Usually this covers the area of a cone about 20 feet in front of her. Nora can keep them hypnotized by staying in place and concentrating, otherwise they’ll revert to normal at the end of the next turn. (Requires permission)
Kitty’s Charm – By approaching a person or another living thing, purring, rubbing and letting them pet her, Nora can charm said living being into treating her well, even if they weren’t normally interested in cats. (Requires permission)
Cat Nap – Nora can put someone she has charmed to sleep. By purring and napping in their lap, they fall into magical sleep. The nap lasts a mere 5-10 minutes, or if the recipient is awakened. (Requires permission)
Magical Cat Abilities: Nora enchanted her little tabby with some protective charms which persist to the present.
Mind shielding - Other telepaths cannot detect Nora's presence in her tabby, unless she reveals it to them.
Immune to falling damage – Nora always lands on her feet from any height unharmed.
The Weaknesses
I’m a Cat – Nora can’t talk or write normally, and is only as durable as a regular house cat.
Kitty don’t go! - Subjects who charm by Nora are so enthralled as to not be willing to let her go.
Dogs – All canines can sniff out Nora’s unnatural aura and will bark at her incessantly. Wild or stray dogs will attempt to attack, and Nora will have to flee. Further, dogs are immune to her enchantments somehow!
Hydrophobia – any sudden exposure to cold water causes Nora to flee in a random direction for the turn.
Chase! – Any small animal or object that moves within her sight will elicit a momentary investigation. Such as the dreaded laser pointer. She will waste a turn investigating before focusing back on the task at hand.
Mindless targets – Creatures who have no minds (constructs, undead) are immune to enchantment. Those killer mannequin really did a number on her.
The Items
Nora’s Amulet (Plot Item) – Nora’s amulet which contains her consciousness and her magical abilities which has magically sealed itself onto her familiar. It cannot be removed by normal means at the moment, as the grimoires she used to create it were destroyed.
The Minions
A coterie of street cats.
The Fluff
Magical Knowledge – a master enchantress, Nora can read magical writings and decipher them with little difficulty.
Cat’s footsteps – Nora is sneaky and quiet.
Bad Reputation - Magic based or supernatural characters, whether PC or NPC, will have a poor starting opinion of Nora. This is natural, as could you trust a person whose powers revolve around mind manipulation?
