The Personality

Elizabeth is a control freak.

Even in life, deep down all the murder, all the blood, it was all about control. She couldn’t stand to be ugly, so she snatched the control over that by sacrificing others. Her entire life has been a bid to wretch the power from every single thing she can, and even in death she continues to soldier on in that pursuit. In her eyes, her death was a disgusting betrayal. She was the one with the power, and yet when she squashes the life out of some common, vulgar, weak peasants, control is retched from her hands. Her very seat of power became her prison and further warped her disturbed mind.

Freedom has granted her opportunity. Peasants everywhere have grown ignorant of her, being so bold as to dare have control over their own lives as she struggles to control her own afterlife. It is time to reclaim her own life, and to bring the world back under her heel once again and to have a steady flow of blood to show for it.

The Story

Elizabeth was never right in the head.

Born into a prominent noble family in Hungary, her disturbing behavior started very young. She was abusing animals and servants as young as five and was just plain mean to other children, especially girls. Her parents, however, refused to hold her accountable for any such behavior. She was a noble and consequences were below Elizabeth.

Everything changed when she began having epileptic fits. At the time, a treatment for the sickness was to forcibly feed the sufferer the blood of a healthy person. The treatment not only was successful, but it sparked a lust for blood that would soon prove insatiable.

As she grew older, she inherited her birthright, the great Castle Casjite and so began the reign of terror. The castle has upward of 300 people working in it at any one time, however people began going missing quite often and being replaced by girls younger and younger it seemed and eventually those too went missing. As the years carried on, The Countess herself just never seemed to get older either.

For 20 years girls would come into the castle, lured in by excellent wages and lodging, never to be seen again, yet like a work of art Elizabeth remained as beautiful as a freshly painted portrait. Eventually the area ran out of common women who could work at Castle Casjite, thus leading to the disappearance of two noble girls in the Countess of Bathory’s court. Their parents were relentless, they’d sent their daughters away to learn noble etiquette and yet now there was no trace of either of them and the Countess refused to offer any sort of explanation.

The minor lord appealed the the King and was momentarily ignored, however eventually the complaints against Elizabeth Bathory accumulated as more girls of higher status began to go missing from her court.Eventually the king was convinced something sinister was happening in that castle and send a small group of men, tasked with gaining entry into the castle and looking for the missing noble girls.

Upon entry, all looked normal aside from a blatant lack of staffing. The furniture in the foyer seemed immaculate and well put together enough to almost convince the men that they could leave and tell the king everything was in order. One brave guard captain chose to further investigate, spurred on by the fact that there seemed to not be a soul in the castle at all, including the countess herself.

Upon deeper investigation of the halls in the grand castle, the ruse began to fall apart, furniture beginning to fade from slightly displaced to destroyed. Occasionally a small puddle of blood could be found until eventually there were small, bloody footprints trailing along the floor and the smell of rot and decay filled the air with each step further.

The discovery of Elizabeth Bathory in a bathing tub full of blood, being filled from the wrists of a still writhing girl of barely 13 was enough to make a grown man wretch. There were bodies stacked high in the bathing room, in varying stages of death and decay, each drained dry of their blood. Elizabeth’s reaction upon being caught in the act? To lift up a wine glass from the bloody bath, as if to offer it to her captors.

She faced trial for the murders of over 600 women and girls, accused of witchcraft and satanism as well as cannibalism. These accusations alone would be enough to earn a death sentence for a common woman, however executing one of high birth was considered in bad taste. Therefore she was sentenced to a fate worse than death. She was to be locked in the highest keep of Castle Casjite, never to see the light of day for the rest of her natural life.

She screamed in that castle, every moment of every day for the next ten years until her eventual death. The body of a decrepit old woman was wheeled out from the castle… however the constant wailing could still be heard coming from the highest tower.

For hundreds of years the castle lay untouched, trapping the vengeful spirit turned demon of the bloody countess inside until nature began to reclaim it. The damage to her prison soon set her free to wreak havoc in a much worse manner. She is continuing her massacre from beyond the grave.

She seeks out the cries of young girls scorned, showing herself as a beautiful spirit, offering help with a poor girl’s woes. Only to lure her into her bathtub and launch a surprise attack, leaving her dead and bathing her her blood just as she did in life. However, over time this began to grow stale. She was a terror to human girls one on one, however it lacked.

When she was alive her kingdom was one to be envious of and she had her pick of girls from the village, she was not much of a fan of the seeking out victims herself where as previously they were flinging themselves at her feet. She began to work to build an army, using her charisma to pull the hoardes of hell onto her side to bring the weak common ilk to a heel.

The Powers

Soul searching- Elizabeth can feel the pain of a woman scorned and is drawn to it like a mother to a flame. A woman who cries loudly enough might catch her attention and draw her in.
Mist form- Elizabeth can turn to mist at will, she often uses it most to travel very quickly to find targets, however she can use it to dodge incoming attacks as well.

Charisma and deception- Elizabeth is a master manipulator and liar. She has a knack for luring girls into their own demise. Even if she has the strength to overtake them herself, it pleases her to see them follow her like a sad little lamb.

Super strength- Elizabeth is a demon of monstrous strength, enough to lift around 1000 pounds if needed.

Super speed- Her speed is in short bursts and doesn’t seem that fast, only slightly above what a human is capable of.

Claws and fangs- Elizabeth has retractable claws and sharp teeth that can be hidden. They are razor sharp and her claws can flay a man alive with one swipe.

Hemomancy- Once blood is spilled it becomes her to control, creating spikes, pillars and barriers between herself an enemies.

Castle Casjite- Castle Casjite’s ruins can be used as a form of home base for her, where she is immensely more powerful. Entering it’s doors requires her would-be slayers to wade through knee deep blood in true darkness that cannot be illuminated, only to be bombarded by her disembodied wailing. Currently the castle is mounted on the backs of two massive demons who cart it around like giant palanquin with an army of demons holed up inside ready to reconquer the hungarian empire.

The Weaknesses

Iron burns like fire. Iron dust is the perfect way to ward her off
Salt will eliminate her beautiful illusion and reveal her for the horrible hag she is.
Silver scorches away her skin and forces her out of her mist form.
Soulless Enemies will be unaffected by her scream as it’s effects are purely mental
As spectacular of a lair she is, she has no magical aide for her deception. Her lies are exactly that, lies. If someone doesn’t believe her, there is nothing she can do about it. This is why she targets those at their lowest, who are willing to believe in any semblance of hope.
Banishment is spectacularly easy as when she is not in Castle Casjite, she is considered as powerful as a regular, run of the mill demon. Any priest, cleric or mage should be able to recreate this spell with minimal trouble.
Blood diseases- Humans with any kind of blood abnormality such as sickle cell, anemia, some forms of cancer and even being intoxicated make controlling their blood impossible.
The powdered bones of her original 600 victims is a death sentence, and encountering it threatens to send her back into the fiery pits of hell.

The Minions

Elizabeth’s charisma has convinced a good portion of demons to join her army in return for a place amongst her kingdom once their work is complete.
