The pillar to Heaven built in Hell - Page 3 Empty Re: The pillar to Heaven built in Hell

Post by Cerek August 26th 2017, 11:08 pm

Cebra hits the brakes hard as the unknown woman came from the sky and blocked their escape route. It seems he wouldnt be getting away in the van as per the plan he devised, though truth be told his plans had a unique way of falling apart at the seams. Cebra quickly jumps out his seat into the middle of the gun fire. He shields himself from the hail of bullets with a Saxon energy field stopping the bullets dead in their tracks. He then turns his attention to the woman blocking his path.

"Lady you chose the worst possible timing on the worst possible day. Jeannie! keep the guards busy I'll handle this."

Cebra molds a crude barrier out of part of the metal of the van for Jeannie to take cover behind making it extra thick.

"No offense but if you dont move, I'll have to move you. I dont have time to stick around here... I dont suppose saying please would help."

Even given the serious nature of the situation Cebra always has a bit of levity. He'd prefer to bargain, reason or con his way past but he was also ready to throw fists if it came to that.

Sam didn’t flinch when one of the escapees jumped out of the van and somehow was able to stop a rain from deadly bullets right where he stood. Not even when he uses his powers to create a barrier for his accomplice to hide behind. She had of course heard of such abilities, but this was the first time she got to whiteness them in person. From all the good things one was able to do with such abilities this man had chosen to do the worst. And now he sought to escape the punishment that came as a consequence of his actions. Not if she had any say in it.

She only frowned when he threatened her. “While I’d love to see you try, I don’t have time to play games,” Sam warned him. “This is you only warning to come quietly!” as she spoke, bullets whistles past her ears. Those guards ought to be more careful with their weapons. These people might be criminals, that didn’t mean deadly force should be utilised. She made a mental note to give them a reprimand when the crisis was averted.

Before she could make a move, however, a familiar voice caused her to freeze right on the spot. The mask of self-confidence she had worn up until now fractured. “Jeannie?” she spoke when recovered from the shock. “What are you doing here?” This was an unexpected development. She hadn’t expected to run into a familiar face. Least of all amongst the criminals.

Cebra stands there a bit dumbstruck at Jeannie casually hugging and greeting her apparent friend as he stood their blocking the incoming fire. The guards had started to move in closer presenting a growing threat and in the rear Cebra saw a few armed with heavier weapons and indeed energy based weapons. Bullets were one thing but energy weapons were significantly more difficult to stop and drained Cebra's energy faster.

"Uh ok here's a thought: we can sort this whole fiasco out when it isn't raining led and lasers on us yeah?"

Cebra throws one of the van doors at a few guards incapacitating them as he takes cover behind the van. The van at this point pretty much being totaled beyond repair. He looks around seeing the nearby forested area as the only way out, under his stolen uniform Cebra hid a number of flash bang grenades always the boy scout.

"So girls I have a way out but we're gonna have to move like hell."

The pillar to Heaven built in Hell - Page 3 Empty Re: The pillar to Heaven built in Hell

Sam was unsure on how the properly react to all of this. Jeannie’s explanation sounded plausible enough. With her fondness of explosions and no one around to tone it down, it wasn’t hard for anyone to mistake her for a criminal. And it was also typically Jeannie to get bored in a cell with nothing to do but wait. Sam could understand why Jeannie would join in on the first exiting thing that came her way. Even if that thing was a prison break. This didn’t mean she approved of Jeannie’s rash decision. On the contrary. Not only would his behaviour look badly on Jeannie in particular, but on every other hero in general as well if word got out one of them participated in a prison break. To say nothing of all the lives she endangered by her actions. She’d have to straighten her afterwards.

But Jeannie’s accomplice, a cyborg apparently, was a bit of an enigma. From what she understood, he must be a hero of some kind. And a friend of Jeannie too. Yet he too must have been in prison for one reason or another. One he didn’t agree with as it seemed he was the brain behind the whole operation. This was hard to rhyme with his alleged hero status. She wanted answers and she needed the now.

“I’d rather talk first, if you don’t mind,” she told the cyborg.

With one hand around Jeannie, she grabbed the van, or what was left of it at this point, with her free hand and lifted it from the ground. Not much, only a meter or so. And while she did so, she made sure the van still functioned as an improvised shield by keeping it in-between the escapee and the prison guards. It wasn’t her intention to deprive him of his cover, she just wanted to make sure he knew what he was dealing with. And to send the same message to the guards too. If they knew what she was capable of, they would likely trust her enough to refrain from using and more deadly fire.

“So, what’s it going to be?”

The guards fire seems to slow down to a trickle then halt entirely, the sound of boots hitting pavement however picks up. The guards it seems are falling back likely realizing they might be a bit over matched by the combined powers of the metas. It is entirely possible they were going for reinforcements as well, at either rate it would be wise to find somewhere out of sight to talk. Cebra needed to salvage what was left of the plan and move back to his safe house off the governments grid.

"I'm perfectly willing to share with you what's going on, but the longer we stay here the more chance I'll be discovered and then this will all be pointless. You know Jeannie so I'm going to bank on her vouching for me, that will have to be enough for now yeah?"

Just then the rumble of multiple vehicles could be heard in the distance coming from the motor pool. It seems the guards were mobilizing all their vehicles and likely arming themselves more heavily.

The pillar to Heaven built in Hell - Page 3 Empty Re: The pillar to Heaven built in Hell

Post by Guest August 29th 2017, 11:58 am

It came all down to a simple question: Did she trust Jeannie? If she did, she’d have to trust her other friends too. If she chose not to, she’d be on her own again and unable to trust anyone. In the end it was a no-brainer. Of course she chose to trust! If she didn’t, where would she be?

She let Jeannie go and took off, the remains of the van in tow. Once she was high enough, she started spinning the vehicle around. The faster she spun it, the stronger a wind she created. After a few more spins she let go. The van flew through the air, straight at the prison’s entrance. The few guards still over their ran in every possible direction to escape the incoming projectile. With a loud bang, the vehicle smashed against the ground. the wreckage succeeded in blocking the entrance, but not entirely. It wouldn’t take those guards long to get through, but it did by the rest of them some time.

“Alright then,” Sam spoke when she flew down again. “It doesn’t look like that car will be able to take you anywhere anytime soon. Will you be waiting for the next or can I offer you a lift?”

Post by Guest August 31st 2017, 11:46 am

“I’m afraid that will have to wait,” Sam told Jeannie as she tightened her hold on her two charges. She bended her knees a little and took off with a powerful jump. Much rougher than usually, especially when she was carrying someone. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind it too much. It just seemed prudent to get away from her as fast as possible.

Once airborne, Sam kept climbing. The prison beneath them rapidly grew smaller and smaller as Sam kept going higher and faster. She kept up her speed and direction until she believed it was safe enough to slower down a bit. The trip so far couldn’t have been very comfortable for her passengers. But at least here they were safe. They were too far away and too high for those people over at the prison to get to them now.

“So,” Sam started, “who did I rescue anyway?”

A robot wizard hu, that was a new one. She had met her fair share of robots, but never a wizard. Let alone a combination of the two. “So, what’s your story then?” she asked the cybernetic man as she followed his flight instructions.
