Was that an injury Cebra had there on his chest? Sam couldn’t be one hundred percent certain, Cebra turned away too fast for her to have a good look at it, but it certainly looked that way. What had that guy been up to, to end-up in such a state? Another question she could add to her list.

She could barely repress a loud sight when she caught the shiny item Jeannie so carelessly tossed her way. Imagine she hadn’t been able to catch it in time. Cebra wouldn’t have been pleased if the device lay scattered all over his floor. She put the device in the armoury, as requested, and couldn’t help but frown in a disapproving manner when she was faced with all the weapons again. ‘Is all if this really necessary?’ she couldn’t help to wonder. In her opinion weapons just invited more violence, but did little to prevent it.

“Done,” she informed Cebra when she joined the others again. A glance on her watch told her she had just enough time to pick lunch provided she didn’t take too long to choose. Eating it would have to wait until she got back from her appointment.

She took the first menu she could get her hand on and looked at it. It seemed to belong to a sandwich shop, which wasn’t too bad.  After having quickly gone through it, she settled with a simple ham and cheese sandwich with a vegetable mix thrown in for good measure.

“So,” she continued after having picked her meal, “where at the docks do I meet this contact of yours?”

"She'll be in warehouse two seventeen, it's the furthest from the loading area by the maintenance shed. She's a red head with a rather..."

Cebra pauses looking for the right words remembering how prickly this woman could get. Rather than say something he might regret later the more diplomatic response came out.

"Feisty personality. You can rest assured anything she says is likely exaggerated."

Cebra says with an uncomfortable shift in gaze.

"Meanwhile Jeannie and I will prepare for later tonight. I have details I'd like to discuss with you Blondie before we go all... what did you call it? Metal gear something?... Espionage anyways."

A red-head? Sam pricked up her hears when she heard Cebra mention the contact’s hair colour. She had always had a soft spot for red-heads. Now she couldn’t wait to meet this woman in person. And not just to get the required information. ‘Calm down, Sam’, she told herself. ‘You’re already seeing Anna remember.’

“I better not let the lady waiting, then,” she said before she hurried to the front door. Perhaps a little too enthusiastic given the nature of the assignment.

The pillar to Heaven built in Hell - Page 9 Empty Re: The pillar to Heaven built in Hell

Post by Cerek November 8th 2017, 6:04 pm

Cebra raised an eyebrow observing Sam's obviously overenthusiastic response. Cebra being a student of human behavior believed he knew why she was so giddy. Of course he had his suspicions but he wasn't one to bring up a persons sexuality. After all that could lead to having to explain what he is and that even disturbed Cebra. Cebra wanted to say goodbye to her but she was out of the door so fast he didn't have a chance to, peculiar woman he thought to himself.

After Sam left Cebra sat down next to Jeannie watching tv with her though not really. He stared at the screen blankly as whatever animated shows that were on went on. He wondered if Jeannie could do this, he wondered what would happen if they were caught. It was unlikely but for sure Cebra would be dismantled and remade in some manner. Jeannie... Well they wouldn't hesitate to experiment on her body in a number of horrible ways. The regret of bringing two people into this had started to eat away a little bit, but he hadn't the luxury of stopping.

"Jeannie I need your attention for this."

Cebra takes a laptop off the living room table and opens it attaching the device on it with the facilities info.

"I'm going to instruct you on what to do, I cannot use that old Em weapon. It's so old it actually radiates EM energy because it's breaking down. But that's good as well, the security wont be able to detect such out dated weaponry. I'm going to have you place it on the very bottom level where the emergency generators are then activate it, just turn the switch and press the button. The facility is deep enough that the effects wont hit me where I need to go... Do you understand me so far?"

The pillar to Heaven built in Hell - Page 9 Empty Re: The pillar to Heaven built in Hell

Post by Guest November 9th 2017, 2:45 pm

“You really handled that one very well, Sam,” she reprimanded herself as she flew towards her destination. “You could have at least acted a bit more professionally.” Some people might find it strange that she was talking to herself out loud. She couldn’t blame them, it was a strange practice. Luckily for her no one could hear a word she was saying up here.

The harbour was easy to find; it was so big it was impossible to miss. Especially from up here. Now all she had to do was find the right warehouse. That was easier said than done, the whole area was crawling with them. Sam stopped and looked around. There had to be some signposts somewhere that allowed people to safely navigate this maze of storage space.

“There you are,” she mumbled when she spotted one of the signposts. If the numbering of this place was a bit logical, had to a bit further south. She followed the signs and noticed they were sending her towards an older, mostly deserted part of the harbour. Which made sort of sense, if you wanted to have a secret meeting you wouldn’t have it in plain sight. She soon spotted warehouse two hundred seventeen. It shared the same grey exterior with every other building surroundings it. The only thing that made it stand apart from the other buildings was a poorly repaired hole in the roof.

As there wasn’t a single soul within sight, Sam just landed at the front of the building. The big sliding door was shut tight, but the smaller door next t it stood partly open. A quick inspection revealed no damage to the door or lock. Whoever had opened the door must had had a key. Carefully she opened the door further and stepped inside.

Dim lights shone inside. It wasn’t much, but enough not to run into the giant wooden crates stacked all over the place. Sam couldn’t help but be curious about what was stored in these crates., but refrained from having a peek inside. These crates must belong to someone and that owner wouldn’t like it if someone went through his property like this. Even if it could be done without leaving a trace.

She ventured further inside. When she passed a few smaller crates, she moved her hand over the top. No dust. These crates couldn’t have been here very long. This place might appear to be abandoned on the outside, its contents told a different story. And what was even more interesting, all these crates had two different numbering systems on them. One she spotted on all the crates, and a second that was different for almost each individual crate. It was as if these crates had come from different places, were brought here, and gotten a new number to find them again. But why would someone bother to do that?

A question that would have to wait for another time. She hadn’t come here to make a study of warehouse numbering systems but to meet Cebra’s contact. Her heart started racing was she thought about meeting this person. She looked at her watch. It was past two o’clock. If she was punctual, she ought to be here somewhere.

“Hello!” Sam shouted. Her voiced echoed through the building. “Anyone here?”

From behind a stack of crates a woman pokes her head out bearing short flaming red hair and pale skin. She looked to be in her late thirties and wore a Blue skirt and blouse.

"You, yeah you over here."

The woman quickly ushered Sam over behind the crates watching to make sure no one saw the two of them together.

"So you're name is Sam huh?"

Francine looked her over skeptically then gave a callous shrug.

"I suppose if Cebra voches for you then you're dependable enough. I wont ask why you're running errands for that jerk, but let's get this done. The last thing I want is Orion finding out what I'm sharing with you. I couldn't send this information in a message, far too risky even on a secure network. Cebra stumbled upon something called 'White bridge'."

Cebra gets up and walks to a closet in the hallway, he takes out a uniform similar to what the Orion engineers wore. Looking at Jeannie it might have been one size too big or two but it would still work. He brought it back to her and laid it on the couch.

"You're going to wear that uniform Jaennie, along with the I.D. I made it should get you past security easy enough. Your I.D. will also act as a key card for any locked doors you encounter. If anyone asks you what your job is just remember you're part of the maintenance staff here to check on the generator. Once you activate the device you'll have one minute to get back up the elevator and leave the facility. You tell the guards that you need to go check the wiring on the outside. I'll have a stash of weapons and explosives ready for you near the gate. Take cover in the parking lot behing the cars and barriers, then open fire keep them busy but..."

Cebra thought about Sam for a moment and how she'd look dissaprovingly like an upset mother.

"Dont kill anyone, I mean unless you life is in danger. But otherwise no killing this time anyways. I'll use the distraction to sneak in and steal the data we need, the EM device should be dead by then but the power still off."

Sam looked up when she heard a noise. She couldn’t help but stare for a moment when a red-headed woman appeared from behind some crates. An attractive red-headed woman. The simple clothes she wore only served to emphasize this. Sam could feel her heartbeat increase as her breathing grew heavier. She ignored she sudden increase of temperature around here and follow the woman behind the crates.

She couldn’t help but notice the woman constantly looking around her as is she feared a battalion of Orion soldiers would suddenly swoop down upon them. ‘She shouldn’t have to live in fear,’ Sam told herself. ‘No one had to.’

“Yeah, I’m Sam,” she confirmed. “And what do I call you?” She listened patiently as the woman began talking. Cebra had told her before he believed to be on to something big. And by the looks of it he was right. But what could be so important, or even dangerous that it couldn’t be shared on a secure network? “I don’t get it, what is this white bridge?” Sam inquired.

"For the record you can call me Francine not that I plan to get all chummy."

Francine takes out a tiny device from her pocket and holds it up.

"From what I could discern from the information I gathered White bridge is some manner of energy transfer station but on an unprecedented scale. I wasn't able to understand much more than that without more time, Cebra should be able to work out the rest along with the notes I made."

Francine backs behind a crate and pulls Sam with her suddenly as she thinks she hears something. She signals Sam to be silent by a finger over her lips, footsteps can be heard just outside. Fortunately they pass quickly and Francine continues on.

"Listen it's not like I really care about that idiot but... Well, I owe him. He's a good man, or at least he's trying to be. He saved my life and my mothers, mine twice as a matter of fact. That guy... he's like fire and ice really, dangerous to be around. I dont know who you are but I'll tell you this much. Cebra is going to get you killed or anyone around you that you care about. He doesn't mean it and he'll do anything he can to save someone. But people die around him, I was just lucky I suppose."

"I'm going to use my own power reserves and keep the computer I need operational. Unfortunately that means I'll be vulnerable, you'll need to make sue to get their attention good. Also Jeannie I need you to be very careful and watch out for yourself. The police will likely be there in force in around eight to ten minutes, plan your escape route... And Jeannie."

Cebra takes a moment his gaze shifting to stern focused look on Jeannie.

"Dont wait for me, if you're under too much fire and in danger just go. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

oh good idea, huh ok Jeannie make a good distraction. just go? jeannie makes a sad face but what about you then? jeannie doesn't want you to get hurt, well that is nice of you to worry about me. she gives him a hug.

I'll come up with a really good plan so we can both escape huh maybe like if I set off a bunch of bombs in different spots they won't know where to look. maybe if I had some of them remote control type guns too yeah I could set them up to shoot and cause a distraction without having to stay.

jeannie starts doodling up a plan for a big surprise for then bad guys yeah lots of kabooms that's good for distracting.
