The Legacy

Personality:
Penny is a very happy and cheerful individual that remarkably seems to never have a bad day or let anything get her down. Even being disowned by her parents didn't get her down, she chose to leave and wanted nothing to do with anyone who didn't want her to be happy. Those that know the eccentric arcade owner would say she's the true definition of a gamer, confident, cocky, and a massive wise ass. Penny has no issue telling people what's on her mind, or flaunting her superiority. That said, Penny is a caring individual who wears her heart out on her sleeve.

Penny is above all a social animal and thrives on being around others, she cannot stand being alone, or being in silence. Aside from her obvious love of games, her need for social interaction is what truly drove her to opening up her own arcade that she keeps open 24/7 and has grown to be quite popular and successful.

One could also say that Penny is a very restless person, she is always doing something, always staying active. Penny is constantly looking for things to keep herself occupied, be it letting off steam by working out, managing her arcade, or roaming the streets in search of bad guys to beat the tar out of.

Penny is a very hard working, and very hard headed person, refusing to take no for an answer, she will press on until she's met her goal. Case and point being her Arcade, with no support from her parents, Penny had to take out a loan in order to open up the shop, but in just a few short years she has managed to repay her debt and run a thriving business.

History:
Penny was born to a wealthy family, both of her parents went into business together when they were younger, creating one of the world's leading R&D labs. Growing up, Penny's parents had high expectations for her, hoping that she would follow in their footsteps and become a scientist just like them. Things did not go how they expected, though Penny was smart and excelled in school, none of the subjects interested her, she was a renegade and enjoyed having fun, not being locked in a room studying. She showed a natural talent and admiration for games at an early age, starting out with chess then graduating to consoles and computers as she got older. Penny had a knack for playing fighting games and RPGs, which became her two favorite genres. Penny's love for games over schooling made her clash with her parents often, who eventually let it slide after realizing she was doing exceedingly well in school.

One day while locked away in her room, Penny was so fed up with studying that she just stared at the page for hours, instead of flipping through it to study for a test she had the next day. Needless to say, to her surprise she aced the test the next day, she had known the answer to every question despite not studying or paying attention in class. This event prompted her to experiment a bit, and she eventually learned that she had grinded in real life. This discovery led her to test out just what else she was capable of and she soon realized she could exploit game mechanics in real life. From that moment on she lived her life how she wanted, she began exploring mechanics that she could use to help her skate through life, her favorite being the grind.

Penny would often times sneak out of her house and visit a nearby arcade. This was something that got Penny going, she enjoyed playing games, they were fun, and she was good at them, she even entered several tournaments, becoming the reigning champion for three years in a row, before her parents shipped her off to college. While in college Penny continued to excel in her classes, placing in the top percentage of her classes. Eventually Penny graduated, and her parents offered her a job at their lab, however, she declined their offer, and moved to the west coast of the United States where she opened "The Penny Arcade". While not at the arcade managing, Penny can be seen playing hero, using her unique power to save and protect people whenever possible.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Power 1: Time to break this game called life - Penny is able to  manifest and exploit video game mechanics allowing her to apply them to her everyday life, this includes mechanics specific to each of the genres within gaming, such as fighting games, racing games, first person shooters, and rpgs. This gives her the ability to do things only video game characters would be capable of, but in the real world.
Fighting Game Mechanics

Mechanic 1: Building Meter - A Meter is a resource used within fighting games to perform various actions such as ex moves, ultra attacks, and super attacks. This meter is filled by taking damage and also dishing it out. In the real world, Penny is able to build up a meter of her own, which is signified by a glowing color around her fists. As she fights her fists will begin to glow different colors, each color represents a different stack of meter. Green = 1bar, Yellow = 2bars, Orange = 3bars, and Red = 4bars

Mechanic 2: Ex - A popular mechanic amongst fighting games is the ability to perform an ex move. An ex move is done when a person spends a bar of their meter to enhance their next move, making the move come out faster, and hit harder. Penny uses this in the same fashion by building meter during a fight, once she has a bar she is able to enhance her next attack making it twice as hard, and happen twice as fast.

Mechanic 3: X Factor - X Factor is a relatively new mechanic that is being explored throughout fighting games in various ways. Unlike a standard meter, X factor builds its own separate meter that gradually builds up and stacks up to three times. X factor can be triggered at any number of stacks, however, it is a one shot deal so it is usually built up to the full three stacks before being triggered. X Factor in fighting games is used to increase a characters damage and speed by a small percentage, while also granting a small healing factor. Much like Ex, Penny can build up an X factor meter that is gauged by the hue of her hair, which at rest is a bright pink.
When Penny begins to build her X factor meter, her hair will begin to shift hues, to a yellow, then to orange at two meters, before finally fully stacking and turning her hair red. A stage one X factor is able to boost Penny's already super human durability, strength and healing by 25%, Stage two gives Penny a 50% boost, and lastly a rank three X factor will give Penny a 100% boost. Each strength lasts up to five posts and X Factor can only be triggered once per topic regardless of the level it is triggered at. While X Factor is active, Penny's body seems to lose saturation, while gaining a glowing red aura and a bright glowing light at the center of her body. X Factor gains 1 stack every 3 posts.

RPG Mechanics
Mechanic 4: Grinding- Grinding is a very old and very convenient mechanic that has existed in RPGs for a long time. By repeating the same mundane task over and over again, often for hours, one can raise their proficiency in a skill, often if not always maxing that skill out. Penny has exploited this mechanic to the max, using it to breeze through school, and life all the same. By using this technique Penny can learn skills that would take most people years to master, in only a matter of hours or days, by simply performing the same action repeatedly. An example of this would be how just by reading the same chapter in one of her textbooks she was able to master the subject in a few days.

Mechanic 5: Perks- A common mechanic that is popular in many RPGs is the ability to earn perks that grant various slight benefits to a players character. Penny has used this to give herself several useful advantages in life.
these perks include: Poison resistance and an Accelerated healing rate. Penny's Accelerated Healing perk is very advanced allowing her to heal minor flesh wounds and burns in a matter of seconds, and going as far as allowing her to regenerate vital organs if given the time to recover.

Mechanic 6: Attributes- As with perks, many RPGs base a characters strength, speed, intelligence, ect. using an attribute system. These usually rank from 1 to 10. In most cases the rating of the attribute goes hand in hand with some sort or relative stat, an example of this would be a character gaining a percentage increase to their physical damage based on rank of their Strength Attribute.
Because Penny can use the mechanic of grinding in real life, she has exploited it to boost the attributes she has deemed necessary to their maximum potential, making them superhuman in level. These maxed out attributes include Strength and Durability.
Penny's enhanced strength attribute allows her to perform great feats of strength such as leaping long distances, with the little running start, she’d be able to clear a 1 story house. Penny is capable of lifting up to as much as 10 tons. With that much strength behind her, she is capable of dishing out serious damage. The boost to Penny’s musculature system grants her enhanced reaction time as well.
To accompany Penny's great strength she has chosen to max out her Durability attribute giving her body the same toughness as reinforced steel, allowing her to withstand gunfire, and resistance to standard bladed weapons.

Various Other Game Mechanics
TBD

Power 2: Light Manipulation- Penny has the ability to generate energy in the form of light, and can use light in the form of various attacks of different shapes and/or intensities. This allows light to either be projected or used as a part of melee attacks. This power extends to allowing Penny to create constructs out of light, such as weapons, tools, armor, and even a set of extra arms.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1: Penny is very confident in her own powers and abilities. One would say she has an abundance of overconfidence and tends to greatly underestimate those that she has the pleasure of opposing.
Weakness 2: Penny's Healing factor that she receives from the Perk mechanic is rendered useless by magic, causing any damage dealt by a spell to heal at a normal pace, if able. This makes losing a limb to a magic spell very deadly as it could lead to a bleed out, leading to death.

Weakness 3: Penny’s light constructs are only able to hold shape and form for a limited time (4 posts.) Before fading.

Weakness 4: Penny is only capable of having or using one light construct at a time.

Weakness 5: Penny will go above and beyond her limits when it comes to protecting her friends, or any innocent people caught in the cross fire, this makes using these people, the perfect leverage against Penny, either to force her to comply with their demands or to make her risk her own life to ensure someone’s safety.

Weakness 6: Building Meter is a dangerous game. Since it only builds up while fighting this means she must remain in close quarters with her opponent, putting her in harm’s way. Building meter also takes time, gaining only 1 bar for every 3 hits she takes or 2 hits she lands.

Weakness 7: X Factor is a one shot deal during fights, regardless of which stage the mechanic is triggered at, Penny will only receive the benefits for a total of 5 posts. Once the duration is up, she is unable to stack X Factor or activate it till the next topic.

Weakness 8: Though Penny boasts a resistance to diseases and poisons, she is still vulnerable to hexes and debuffs placed on her by magic users.

Weakness 9: Being Hit by any attack can Cause Penny to lose a stack of X Factor, causing her to weigh the option of taking damage to build meter, or avoid all damage to stack X Factor.

RP Mechanics

RP Mechanic(s):

World Class Kickboxer.

Fast Travel: Allows Penny to teleport to locations she's been to before.

Respawn: A Game Mechanic that Penny has yet to exploit or experience, Respawn allows her to come back to life at the end of a thread, if she was slain during that thread. This also puts Penny into a ghostlike state, where no one can see her, but she can see the world around her, but not interact with it, till respawning.

Catch-up- Catch up is a mechanic often used within racing games, and has been implemented in various other games that give the losing side a small enough boost to put them in an equal position with the player in first place. This ability kicks in passively and will gradually and slightly boost both Penny and her opponent’s abilities to be on par with each other. This also extends to stats not shared by both parties.
Ex. If Penny has super strength, and her opponent has super speed, then “Catch-up” would grant Penny super speed, and her opponent super strength. (Gaining a stat not associated with their character is entirely permission based. If a person chooses, they may opt out and not receive a boost from this power.)
Penny's Catch-up mechanic works both ways, meaning if she is the one out classing her opponent they will receive the buffs instead. Because the power is always passively working, Penny has no say in the matter. This even makes many encounters with everyday thugs a challenge for her. (it would turn everyday humans into peak level humans). Additionally If a person’s power is granted to them via an item, such as a ring, or some other object, Catch-up will not trigger.
Each stat granted to Penny and her opponent each come with their own weaknesses, which are as follows.
Super strength- When attempting to lift or move under the influence of super strength, one’s balance, sense of gravity, and mass are all thrown off, which could cause the user to damage or hurt someone without meaning to.

Super Speed- Speed doesn't necessarily mean maneuverability, some users may have problems with inertia and tight corners. Depending on the users endurance, super speed can cause strain on their body as well, causing them to tire quickly.

Super Durability- User is still prone to being harmed by weapons of high caliber as well as non-standard metal blades and magic. Super Durability does not equal invulnerability.

The only big issue I have is your Catch-Up mechanic.

I find that, given the right situation [or really the wrong situation] a potential character with no physical powers or strengths could easily outweigh Penny. You mention that it only effects physical attributes, and won't work or activate passively when dealing with powers given by items. I also find that powers given by... say, energy based powers like Telekinesis or even Penny's very own Light Manipulation, cannot be quantified or measured the same way that physical attributes are.

So, say you're fighting my very own lovely OC known as Skyler - she has rapid cellular regeneration and a form of super human reflexes. She has no physical strength passed that of a well trained military expert, and she's pretty squishy. Matched against Penny, who's skin is as tough as fortified steel, Skyler would passively gain super human durability. Her regeneration would almost negate the built in weakness because of how powerful her own regeneration is.

Do you understand?

So, in short, I think that this should only be used as an RP mechanic to add fluff and dynamic storyline to threads that the other RPers involved agree to.

Which means you need to add 2 more weaknesses to replace the 2 catch-up ones you have listed - and just toss all of the stuff related to catch-up in your RP mechanic section.

I also need to know what her base strength is to better understand how strong she can hit, how much she can lift - and how far she can jump/leap.

And, what do the little numbers in parenthesis mean? The 4 and the 2 are my other concerns.
