The Looks

Kylie has short, spiky blonde hair that is usually in a state of disarray due to the fact that she never bothers to brush it. As such, it is constantly falling into her eyes. She has moderately attractive features, and would generally be considered "pretty" despite her absolute refusal to wear makeup or skimpy clothing. Her preferred clothing includes t-shirts (usually a few sizes too large), baggy or worn-out jeans, tennis shoes, and a star-shaped locket that hangs constantly around her neck. She never cared much for aesthetics, but she does like patterns involving flames, often incorporating them into her attire.

The Legacy

Personality:
Kylie loves people. It's fascinating to her how very different they can be. She couldn't care less about appearances or fashions, but she takes great pleasure in figuring out what people are "really like." Unfortunately for her, she's always been overly trusting. It's not that she's an idiot or anything, she knows that putting her faith in others can get her hurt. But Kylie is a person of extremes. The way she sees it, a person can either be cautious and safe, yet lonely, or get hurt occasionally but have much greater chances of building effective relationships. She chooses to be the latter. That way she gets to see more of what's inside people. These personalities... a person's "heart." That's what's important. (And if anyone ever points out that it sounds like some sort of mushy romance novel, she'll punch them.)

Above all, Kylie wants to protect people. There is nothing more important to her than the safety of those she considers to be her friends (which isn't a difficult status to obtain) Therefore, she tries her hardest to be strong. She often attempts to intimidate her enemies, usually without much success, but when it comes to an actual fight, she can certainly hold her own. Never having been the most athletic or muscular of people, she despises the weakness she sees within herself. She has to get stronger, not for herself, but for them. As far as she's concerned, there is too much evil in the world for a weak person to stand up to. Weakness is for the innocent, and she prefers that all who choose it remain that way.

As for her, she's too violent to really be innocent. Although her extroverted nature and love of people can be an advantage, it leads her to rely much too heavily on her emotions. In short, she's got attachment issues. Anything that threatens these attachments in her mind is a problem in need of solving. (She solves most of her problems by beating them up.) She's fully aware of this too. It's not so much that she can't use her brain, it's just that using her fists is so much easier.

History:
The Hendersons weren't a particularly happy family. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson were what one might call "evil." Manipulative and cruel, they spent their time exploiting others for wealth and gaining credibility with the criminal underworld. They'd met during a bank heist, and as they would say for the rest of their short lives, it was "love at first sight". Of course, their first love was the money. Neil Henderson was a con artist, and his wife an expert thief- neither of which were particularly emotional professions. It was a very lucrative business. However, Neil soon discovered that crime was a young man's game, and he wouldn't be a young man for long.

So it was decided that Kylie should come into existence. She and her little brother, Marcus, were to be the heirs to the family business. Marcus embraced the role heartily, and being an adorable child, the manipulation involved in being a con artist came easily to him. Yet Kylie was different. She didn't like hurting people, and somehow the money didn't cry out to her the way it did to hr family. Labeled by her parents as a disappointment, she spent a majority of her time away from home. Unable to attend school for fear of the law, this time consisted mostly of "hanging out" with friends she had picked up, most of whom were delinquents or members o street gangs. It was here that she learned to fight, and more importantly, where she learned the concept of loyalty. Whereas con artists and thieves cared only for themselves, these guys had each always other's backs.

It wasn't a great life, but it wasn't a terrible one either. That is, until justice came calling. The four family members where camping out in a one bedroom apartment when it happened. Kylie was never sure what exactly it was that came that day... some sort of superhero perhaps, or maybe some divine being... Whatever it was, it came with a blinding light. It filled the room, disintegrating all in it's path. Her parents dashed for the nearest door, but the light consumed them as they ran. Terrified, Marcus pinned himself to the back wall. Everything happened in mere seconds, but time seemed to slow as the panicked Kylie scanned the room. There was an exit toward the back, near where Marcus was frozen in fear. She could probably make it... But what about Marcus? He may have been the meanest, most manipulative 14-year-old in existence, but he was still her brother. Without any though as to how futile the act would be, she lept in front of the shaking teen. She then shut her eyes, fully prepared for the death that awaited her.
Yet death did not come. When she finally lifted her head, she looked around at the remains of what had been their apartment. Whatever had done this had spared her for some reason. Then she looked down at her arms. Marcus was still alive as well. Unlike her, however, he was not unharmed. His arm had not been covered by her body, and as such, it had been torn to shreds. Pitying the unconscious boy in her arms, she found herself wishing she could somehow take the pain from him. She reached out, gently touching his arm.

"OW!" She cried out in pain and shock. Out of nowhere, long gashes appeared on her arm, identical to those of her brother. Except they were no longer identical. The wounds on her brother's arm were gone. His eyes fluttered open, and he stared at her in shock. She herself was still stunned, and now in a lot of pain. She clutched her arm to her, and the flesh began to reform, layers of muscle and skin healing over at a visibly perceptible rate.

"W-what are you?" Marcus stammered. Then he ran off into the night. In hindsight, she figured she ought to have pursued him, but the shock of what had just occurred left her frozen in her spot. Alone now, she thought of what had just occurred. What was that thing? What was she? Should she try to find revenge? No... vengeance never held any appeal to her. Her family was gone, but in a way that was a relief. They had been really terrible people. This power though...

It had to have a purpose. It did. Whatever had happened to her family, she knew in her heart it was because of what they had done, what they had been like. She didn't have to be like that. She could help people. She could be a hero.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Sacrifice: Kylie takes on damage done to another person, healing them while experiencing the same amount of pain they would have. The power works on contact, and is voluntary. Any effects (poison,disease, etc.) will also transfer to Kylie. If she attempts to use this to cure a fatal wound, the initial victim will live, but Kylie will die.

Revival: Kylie heals much faster than a normal human. While this will not prevent instant death, and more serious wounds may still heal slowly, she is able to focus energy on regenerating damaged tissue and can therefore take much more damage than the average person.

Sheildskin: When protecting another person, Kylie can harden her skin, causing it to become nearly impenetrable. This does not work in self-defense, and will only activate when she feels that someone is in need of protection.

Weakness(es)

Sacrifice (Inherent): Any damage to the person being healed is applied to Kylie.

Rage: When in "Sheildskin," Kylie is likely to become enraged, losing clear thought and reacting recklessly to the situation.

Focus: Healing and Revival require all of Kylie's attention, leaving her open to attack.
