Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Something about their wide grin caused his own lips to split into a grin, as if it were infectious. That brought to mind yawning for some strange reason, but Pat didn't put too much thought into it beyond the fact that it passed through his mind. While a cab would have been nice, he preferred walking as a partial gauge to be sure he wasn't by any means tipsy. There was also that and he was just enjoying himself too much. Having someone to talk to was enough to keep him walking, even if he barely knew anything about them. "Walking...yeah walking's good." He said with a small chuckle, just noting that they weren't by any means being sarcastic about their statement, though he did find himself jarred by their sudden shift to favorite flavors.
While they could easily think up a name for flavors, Pat found himself hard pressed to actually come up with anything. "Favorite flavors? Bubble gum I guess, anything with cookie dough and chocolate. I reeeaaallly love chocolate." He admitted, managing to come up with some flavors so he didn't sound rude in their little game. Their answers came almost at the same time, but Malus' was a little before his. Maybe he was just a little more energetic about this whole thing than Pat was but that wasn't anything that he could complain about. Just as they were walking, his eyes fell upon what looked to be the place.
It was small but had a pretty nice selection, and his eyes fell upon the person behind the counter. "And here we are. It's not really big but it's got a sweet selection, probably anything you would want."

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus nudged Pat again when he mentioned his love for chocolate. Malus, too, was a huge fan of anything chocolate. He almost just listed chocolate for all of his answers.
"I honestly love chocolate the most, but Butter Pecan has a richness that just somehow gets me, you know? Whereas strawberry goes so good with chocolate that it's my second favorite. I totally love the real fruit, too." He said, sounding like a total valley girl now. He was gushing over strawberries, for Christ sake! He let out a little giggle as he continued walking. It might have been the alcohol that was making him so giggly, but he didn't mind.
He felt alright, and that's what mattered.
"Oh wow! This place is adorable! Look at the little tables," he said, pointing at the swivel seat tables. It was like a table with branches for the chairs, and the chairs could turn from side to side. It was adorable, and Malus really loved it.
"Oh my goodness. We can have waffle bowls? I want one! Ooh I want one!" He was too excited now. Something about ice cream and cute boys just made him happier.
That and his mood swings.
He was really glad that he was feeling up right now - there was nothing attractive about being in a slump.
"Ooh, let's seee... Pistachio? Yum! And it's green. Oh look, they have bubble gum flavor!" Malus was almost drooling as he pointed out the flavors behind the glass.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
When comparing their levels of excitement, one could say that Pat looked rather down when compared to Malus. Not that he was down by any means, but he did look pretty down when one had to compare the two anyway. Their shared love of chocolate was something that he could really appreciate, considering that it was one of his most favorite substances in the world next to those ice creams that came in little beads. Something about their texture made him want to eat that stuff non stop. While the sudden gain in weight would have been annoying, it would have been well worth it within his mind. Something about this whole thing was fine with him, enough that even when the grin faded one could see a smile still playing along there. If anything, he could say that he liked this guy well enough to tolerate being around them.
"Yeah. It's the place I go to when I want ice cream not out of a carton." He said, leading the way through the front entrance as the smell of the place entered his nostrils. There was always something about places that registered with him in the realm of smell. It might have been the smell of what they washed the floors with or something else, yet that was something that reached him in some way. "I guess the décor is one reason I always find myself coming back." He admitted with a shrug, as they turned their attention towards the ice cream flavors being presented.
"Well feel free to pick whatever ya want." He said before his eyes scanned across the list of flavors, and fell upon what looked to be some kind of chocolate chip cookie dough flavor. Instantly his interest was piqued. "As for me i'll have three scoops of that chocolate chip cookie dough in the waffle cone." He said, pointing out the flavor and then looking to Malus as if silently asking what it was they wanted while digging through his wallet. There was enough paper money to avoid having to use his debit, not that he minded doing so. It was more of a preference for him than anything else.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus leaned down a bit more, almost squatting to eyeball the assortment of flavors.
"Yum, Pat. That sounds good. I think I'm gonna have to go with one scoop of Pistachio, a scoop of rocky road, and a scoop of cookie dough, mmmmkay~?" He said, his voice filling to the brim with happiness. It definitely was due to the alcohol. He had consumed a lot of stuff from his mini bar at home before coming out for more drinks. Malus was just very, very good at convincing people he wasn't drunk. It was a perk of his.
Almost his private super power [ on top of his actual powers. ]
He accepted his waffle bowl and spoon and sat down at one of the little tables. There was one other couple in the shop, but they were actually on their way out, just finishing their ice cream.
"So, is there anything you wanna know about me? Cause if we're treating this like a date, I already know you like bars, but you don't like to be alone. You love chocolate, and you would totally eat ice cream for breakfast lunch and dinner, but you won't because deep down you know it's not the best thing for you. I could be wrong, though." Malus said, deducing what little he knew about Pat. He stuck a bite of pistachio ice cream in his mouth and moaned passed the bite.
It was deliciously cold.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
"That sounds pretty good too actually." Pat admitted shelling out a few crumpled bills and settling them on the counter as he went about doing the paying thing. Something told him it was the right thing to do, so he went along with that thought. The happiness within their tone was palpable, likely only to increase when they got their ice cream. once the whole purchasing was done, they picked out a table and sat at it. Pat would slowly work away at his ice cream while trying to keep his attention half on Malus who was talking about something, whatever that was.
"That's actually a pretty good assessment." He said with a smirk, taking a small bite out of the top scoop while enjoying the flavor itself. "All you're missing is the socially awkward thing." He then added with a soft laugh, though somehow a snort managed to get mixed up in with that, adding to a sort of dorky image about him. As for what he wanted to know about Malus, that was something that he found difficult to actually think of. Letting a low hmmm pass between his lips, his mind ran over what he could ask about them.
"I gotta admit, I'm not really good with the whole question asking thing." He then finally said with a sigh, trying not to ignore his ice cream which would likely melt from the disappointment. "I'd be fine with just learning about you as things go really. I mean, I'm having a lot of fun right now just talking to you, enough that if this is a date then I wouldn't mind a second one actually. You're a really fun kind of guy." That much he could admit without any kind of irony.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus noticed Pat paid for him, and it made his little heart grow three sizes at that moment. Usually Malus was very picky with things in his life, and how he spent his time. Trying new things was always on his agenda, he just never actually made time for it. Right now, it was likely two in the morning, maybe three, and they had found a twenty-four hour ice cream shop that was home-run by a small family. Inside were delicious flavors, and if the night couldn't get any better, Pat was absolutely adorable.
The little snort that crept up into his laugh made Malus gush as he took another bite of his ice cream.
"You're adorably socially acceptable," Malus corrected him, waving his spoon like a baton to emphasize on his correction.
Pat was indeed a dork, but who wasn't? It was hard to find anyone perfect these days. There was always some kind of catastrophic even happening that caused even the most sane individuals to dive off the deep end. Just look at 2007 Britney Spears. Yeesh.
"Well, come on. I'm only an open book if you inject me with booze, ice cream, and conversation with cute boys," Malus gave Pat a smoldering look as he dug another bite out of his ice cream treat. He took the spoon to his mouth and indulged himself with the large bite. The cold sweetness cooled down his core, making him feel a bit woozy, but he would manage. This wasn't his first time enjoying ice cream.
"Oh, I'm actually really into a second date. Maybe we could meet for coffee, or dinner?" he said, his eyes almost sparkling with interest.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Well, if he was adorable then that was one perk more than anything else. It wasn't exactly something that was put onto him too often, but then again he would take a compliment when it was thrown his way. All he could do was blush slightly, looking down at his ice cream and eating a little more of it. "An open book? Well it's a good thing I love reading." Cheap joke aside, he was enjoying himself when everything was considered. If only reading someone came easy to him, but that would take the fun out of learning things about the person. Life was after all a game of learning, or so he thought to himself within that moment.
"A second date sounds like it could be really fun actually. I'm more into the whole dinner thing personally, sounds sorta romantic if you ask me." Whether they were into the idea of romantic incursions, well then a dinner was probably the best option. Interest was sparked for sure, within him as well as the male sitting across from him. Where this lovely second date would take place, well he had no clue whatsoever. Pat didn't know many fancy restaurants in LA and considering the fact his number of dates was abysmal, well his knowledge of their interiors was even smaller. Just thinking about how much it would cost was something he would do, but then again that was how dates were.
"So I guess that means we're on for a second date." He said this with a slight amount of levity in his voice.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus got lost for a few moments, his auburn hues locked onto Pat's own hazel ones. The lighting made them seem a little more green, but sometimes they had flecks of blue-gray. It made Malus think of the ocean next to a beach filled with banana palms. It made him want to go to the beach.
It suddenly sparked an excellent idea in his head. He wouldn't want to spoil it, though, cause it was obviously a surprise.
"Dinner for a second date it is. So, I'm almost finished eating," he commented, taking a few more smaller bites, and even breaking up the waffle cone bowl and eating it as well.
"Should I walk you home?" Malus asked, taking one last bite, leaving only a runny mess of ice cream and crumbs in the actual cardboard bowl he had his ice cream served in.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
There was one thing that Pat found himself noting, besides the usual facial features that his mind constantly considered and that was that...well he was on a date sorta. Granted he hadn't actually been on a date in the span of a few months, not like they would exactly be calling for a second date. Unless of course they could crawl back from the grave, which would be a rather interesting idea if not somewhat scary. Just thinking about it made him chew on his lower lip, eyes falling down as he continued to eat his ice cream.
Malus was finishing with their ice cream quicker than him, granted he wasn't exactly eating it too quickly. The waffle cone proved easy enough to eat however, so he ate through that. "Walk me home? Well, I guess that would be pretty cool." He said with a smirk, bunching up the paper that was settled around the cone in his right hand. "Beats walking home alone anyway." He then said, standing up and stretching to relieve the tension in his limbs. Considering that he wouldn't have to walk too far, it was fine with him.
Tossing the paper into the nearest trash can, he opened the front door leaving it open until Malus could walk through. "After you." Manners, well there were just something he found difficult to put down.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus also disposed of his trash, like the gentleman he was, and smiled toward Pat at his kind gesture.
"Manners, too? I think this is better than hitting the jackpot!" chuckling with happiness, Malus waited just outside the doors for Pat to fall into step with him so they could walk together.
Once they were walking, Malus slithered an arm around of Pat's, hooking them like that so it pulled Pat closer to him. "I think our next date is going to be even better. Tell me if we're walking the right way," Malus said, keeping his pace casual - he didn't want to rush Pat home. Malus even thought about weaseling his way in for some good ol' fashioned cuddling.
He honestly wouldn't mind that at all. It had been so long since his last relationship. His ex had hit rock bottom and it left Malus in a situation. That was just before he was kidnapped, 'killed,' and shoved into a safety deposit box in his ashen form.
He felt his heart lurch for a moment as he thought about it, but then he centered his mind and breathed out with glee.
"What's your favorite color?" he asked, bringing conversation into their walk.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
"You're too kind." Pat said with a smirk, waiting for the male to step through the door before letting to close on its own. Once that was done, it came down to the two walking with his home as a destination. Falling into line walking beside the male, they seemed to hook their arm around his own. It was a brief surprise but the only real reaction of his was a brief hitch within his breathing as he was pulled lightly towards them. Malus was confident within their next date, and he had a certain level of optimism towards it as well.
"Yeah, we're goin the right way." He said with a nod, mind now running off in different directions while he was trying to keep it from wandering too far off. It had been a while since he...had any sort of romantic outing, and it all started because he wanted to get drunk. As amazing as the sudden change in things were, a cynicism fell over him for a moment. His relationships had ended for a reason, and to an extent he didn't want to put anyone else through that. His expression only really changed through a furrowing of the brows, ex expression that looked less pensive and more quizzical.
"Favorite color? That's kind of a tough question actually....but I guess you could say it's pink." He said with a shrug, or as much as one could conjure up while locking arms with someone else. "What about you? What's your favorite color?" In a sense his mind was keeping track of everything around him, mostly how close they were to his apartment.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus' arm snaked from the coiled position and made it's way around of Pat's waist. He held onto him gently, pulling him closer as they walked.
"Pink, huh? You haven't seen it yet, but I make pink look good." He said, making a motion toward his clothes.
His grip was gentle, just barely cupping around of Pat's waist. As they walked, Malus made sure to guide him forward, matching his strides with Pat's quite easily. The rhythm they shared was unlike any other. Malus felt it.
It was weird - to think a night out for a drunken adventure turned into an ice cream date with a very cute, very handsome, very adorable boy.
"Colors, colors," he muttered, and then offered a cheesy grin.
"I'm actually not too fond of just one color. But I enjoy monotonous shades of gray, black, white. Red, pink of course, and anything to enhance my eye color. So, of course red's, or dark shades of any color really." He rambled for a few moments about his lack for a particular favorite color.
He could feel Pat's pace almost slow by a fraction of an inch. His steps became a bit more shallow. Or was that just his own? Malus had no idea. Maybe it was. He just knew their pace slowed down simultaneously. Was it because they were nearing Pat's residence?
Malus was unsure, but he did know he wasn't ready to end this evening. Not yet. He just needed to get Pat's number, and give out his own so they could actually get together for that second date.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
This night was going pretty well, enough to make it even enjoyable. It started off as one thing, and ended up being what appeared to be a rather nice date...sort of. Nothing really exceptional, but then again not like he expected anything extensive. He didn't even really mind the whole being pulled closer, considering the whole atmosphere of their outing. "You make pink look good? Guess I'll have to see that to believe it." It was more something said to keep him in the conversation, as it would have otherwise been something one sided. He didn't really like the idea of a conversation being one sided, almost as much as just sitting around with someone without any manner of talking.
From what he could tell when throwing the question back at Malus was that they liked darker colors, like red and whatnot. Which were cool colors within themselves, so all he did was nod as if showing that he registered the response. That was when he realized that time passed pretty quickly when you were having fun, and they were almost at his apartment already, as the two floored building began to stick out. Sure, it was a disappointment but then again that was how things were in the end. This caused him to slow down by an almost perceptible amount himself, though somehow that caused the person he was walking with to do the same.
"Looks like we're here." He said, likely his tone making it obvious he didn't really want this to end. Still, everything had to end at some point, so he would have to deal with that. "Not exactly anything high class, but it serves. It's where I lay down and....do whatever it is I do." He said shrugging as much as he could.

Re: Another shot to dull the pain [Malus]
Malus chuckled along with Pat and, when they reached the stoop of the apartment complex, he actually sighed.
It was not a sigh of happiness, but more of disappointment.
Malus' whole frame seemed to sink a few inches. His whole mood shifting.
"Well, I guess I'll see you on our next date, huh?" He asked, carefully removing his arm from around of Pat's waist and just settling with his hand within Pat's very own.
He laced their digits together, locking their grip for a few moments. Malus was lingering on purpose. He wasn't sure on Pat's views on kissing on the first date, but something told slightly drunk Malus to give it a shot.
Leaning in, and not even giving Pat a chance to accept and lean back, Malus crashed his lips onto Pat's and wrestled with him for a few moments before breaking it off.
"Goodnight, Pat." Malus said, giving Pat a very sexy half smile.
