I think we're missing the point here. It's already happened. The Mistresso/Doomplague chapter saw the destuction of almost all life on earth, including the death of almost EVERY character that was active at the time. They had a good run of it, being the last few people alive, but the few remaining heroes managed to reverse the process and return everyone to life as the villains fell. Yes, the heroes winning might sound cliche and overused, but if they lost, life as we know it (♫Life as we know it, Jim♪) would cease to exist. As it is, the villains get a lot of the little wins, having a greater percentage of Battles won, on the condition that the heroes win the War. Otherwise this would end up being the VRPG, and superheroes would cease to exist.

Unless you take into the account that a world controlled by villains would likely be a dictatorship controlled by the most powerful villain, and that the villains would then (in all likelihood) turn on each other, thus turning villains into anti-heroes, creating a world of low brow heroes that would then start winning (until they lost, cutting the hero count in half and restarting.) But I digress. A world where villains won would be a world of diminishing returns and boorish ideals. So, as Pain and Sham expounded upon in their infinite wisdom...
