Terror worms [Wrecker]
A single bead of sweat ran down his forehead, glistening within the intense harsh UV lights that flooded the room. This had been created for the singular purpose of working up his strength, granted he did not feel as if he would need to be any stronger considering the data that his superiors had given out. Not that he would argue, considering that apparently it was always good to make sure that he was in top physical condition no matter what. That was why he was working out within this room, equipped with a device to increase the gravity as well as a few rather hefty weights. All of the equipment had been donated by an unknown person , meaning that it was likely some rich person that was interested within his development or maybe the projects in general. Giving a soft grunt, he lifted the heavy weights above his head before letting them plop against the ground with a resounding noise.
"I surprise myself every day." Atlas muttered with a soft smirk, considering the weight of the object within his head and coming up to something around maybe half a million tons. That did perhaps explain why he was having such a tough time lifting it, but then again his own mental math was never too good. This was why he left the math up to his superiors, who seemed to know more about those kind of things. Wiping away a single bead of sweat from his forehead, his mismatched eyes fell upon the entrance to the room and with a thought they bridged the space between that spot and where he stood. That was when his mind brought up the little rule about not using his powers when he didn't need to. Something about making a mess of things, and the idea of potential reprimanding.
Running a few fingers through his slightly messy light brown hair, he stepped through the door which opened itself easily enough. From there he ran into a familiar face, with deep lines from their years of experience and blonde hair beginning to turn gray. A woman that had been over him for as long as he could remember, though they were rather kind to him through those years. "Damian, you know you're supposed to keep our communicator on you at all times." She chastised him, putting emphasis on all. As always he put on a small frown when that happened, though that garnered no sympathy from her.
"Sorry. I'll do better to remember it next time." He said taking the small earpiece from the woman's hand and pressing it into his hair until it was settled.
"Good. Aside from that we have a strange report from New York. It appears that something has emerged from the streets, though we cannot tell what it is exactly. Eye witnesses say it is some manner of worm, but we want you to find out for sure." They explained, and from there he knew what to do. First was suiting up, not that he would have a difficult time slipping into the suit made for him. It was a simple black one pieces with white lines running along areas that would add a certain aesthetic appeal to it with a small amount of padding, though why he needed it was unknown. Pressing the visor over his eyes, the suiting process was done. From there it all came down to taking the teleporter which put him into the sky above the area.
Already he could feel the air blowing against his face in the usual cold fashion, and yet his eyes were focused upon a large white shape moving through the streets and causing destruction. Without wasting much time he flew downwards, a loud boom being heard as he collided with the street with such force that it sent ripples outwards from the impact point. With one hand extended forward, the thing attempted to move against his strength but found that not working beyond pushing him a few inches. Rearing one fist backwards he slammed it into the things nose, which managed to throw it off balance as it lifted it's head and release a loud bellowing cry of pain.
First he needed to make sure there were no people within the area before he dealt with this thing.
"I really do not like worms." He muttered with a slight frown.

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
This patrol are certainly a lot more productive, at the beginning, this time around. But he wasn't sure this was a good thing or bad. First it was spiders in central park and a worm in a different part of the city. "Can the animal kingdom just calm the hell down!? People please! Go back into your homes! There is a large worm that is putting you all in danger. At least get off the streets!" This was his version of crowd control, for the past ten minutes. It wasn't the easy thing to do, but getting people to safety was just as important as actually getting the bad guy. For the most part, it seemed to work. Aside from destruction of cars and other materials, no one was hurt. At least, that he knew of.
"I am so getting some pizza after this." He huffed and moved down the street. It didn't take a detective to follow it, but better him find it than the NYPD. They are fine people, but not usually equipped to fight something like this. "Please don't hurt anyone." He said to himself.
Coming around a corner, his face was met with the tail of the worm. Wrecker's blue eyes almost popped out of his head. A smack rang in the brain and a roar overtook that sound. "Jesus, did it run into a bus?"
Seeing an opportunity, he climbed onto its back. Making himself light he gathered up some speed before his jump. "Howdy, fucker!" Then he raised his density enough that his shoulder check, to the back of the worm's head would have felt like it was hit with a dumptruck.

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
"Not all that tough are you?" Damian spoke to himself as the worm appeared more in pain than he had intended to put it in. It may have been the blood beginning to run from the area where he had struck it, or just the pained roar but something told him that he had done some good damage. Cracking his knuckles, he would then prepare to likely pick the thing up and maybe move it to an area where cleaning it up would not be so messy. However something else happened, but that did more than anything become a point of interest to the rather inexperienced hero. Both eyes blinked slightly as something seemed to be moving into the air and within a matter of seconds dropped much like a brick downwards. "Looks like we have another meta in the area." He spoke pressing a single finger against the receiver within his ear.
If anything this would be fun, and considering this would likely be his first time working with another metahuman then he would want to make a good impression. Within a matter of seconds they would drop down as fast as a boulder, slamming into the worms head with enough force to cause the soft flesh to sink inwards from the point of impact. There would be no time for it to roar as it's head was flattened inwards from the impressive pressure that they had exerted upon the things head. Blood ran under it, gushing outwards in a flow that would begin to coat the street, something that Atlas ascended to avoid having touch his feet. His lips were split into a wide grin, much like a kid seeing something amazing for the first time. Sure he knew his powers were something, but he had never seen another power before.
They didn't show any sign of flying downwards, which meant that strength was not the exact power. "Woah that was awesome!" He shouted hooking his fingers under the worm and giving a great push before the body seemed to follow suit in being lifted up. Now he could just dispose of the corpse somehow.
"Leave it there for proper extraction." A voice would chime within his ear, causing him to drop it at once.
"How did you do that?" He would then ask turning attention towards the meta responsible.

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
Wrecker wiggled a bit, trying to stablize himself. "Yes!" He said, seeing that the worm was a bit more than taken care of. Plopping himself lightly on his feet. He came face to well...face to torso of what seemed to be the reason the beast roared in pain. Adjusting his tie, the young man smiled. "Thank you. You did well in stopping him. It gave me the chance to finish him off." Seeing that he was also strong, he smiled. They were kindred spirits, to a point.
"I can...make myself lighter or heavier than I look." He didn't want to get into the mechanics over anything because he still didn't quite understand it all. "Good to see someone came around to help out. Seems everyone but us was either busy or had the day off. Who do you got in your ear?" He asked, curiously. He also wondered if this was another veteran hero. But with his amazement, he doubted it. They seemed to have more and more in common apparently..

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
Praise was always one way to get on Damian's good side, and hearing it from a strange has a certain effect on him. Usually it should have been the other way around, but then again he wasn't know for being conventional. In fact just meeting another metahuman was fueling this excitement considering his last mission was nothing more than a simple neutralization one as they had worded it. With eyes focused upon Wrecker he listened to their description of their power which sounded pretty cool. "Lighter and heavier? That sounds pretty neat. I sorta just hit things...really hard." It was the power he was most known for but then again not the only one really.
"Yeah I noticed that. Do you think heroes take a day off or something?" He asked with a raised brow, though the smirk was something that he could not control. The idea of a hero taking a break from a job that didn't really end, well now that was something that amused him more than anything. Granted they may have just been dealing with their minor issues, or thugs in the streets as some of them tended to do. However he wasn't sure if it was allowed for him to explain the whole earpiece. As far as he knew, secrecy was something that had to be kept, but maybe he could explain the earpiece at least.
"It's a communication...thingie for mission control. It helps with the whole heroism thing." He explained removing it from his ear and holding it out where Wrecker could see before placing it back within his ear. "It's a little tougher than your average stuff, but that keeps me from from breaking it accidentally." He went on to explain, considering how everything he had was made to withstand immense pressure the piece was nothing new really. "I have a feeling there's more to this worm than just...well being a random giant worm. Someone probably sent it out....for diabolical science testing maybe." A hypothesis but it did make sense considering that there were no worms this large, at least naturally.
"What do you think?"

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
Wrecker gave an approving nod. "Got to love heavy hitters, like us." He said, chuckling. Of course, he didn't have any real reason to press further into the conversation, but the guy seemed nice. "Well, even heroes need a break sometimes. The work we do...it isn't easy, you know?"
He smiled, as he showed him the ear piece. "A real secret agent man. If I asked you your name, do you have to eliminate me or something?" Wrecker laughed, as the other meta human turned his attention to the worm. When he present the idea of this not being entirely an accident, it did ring as plausible. "That honestly wouldn't surprize me, but for all we know it was an accident. What do you say you and I check it out? All we would need to do is trace its....wiggles back to where it came from. Should tell us a thing or two."

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
The idea that there were metahumans with as much strength as him flashed through his mind a couple of times, but that idea never stuck around for too long. Though they did make a good point about even heroes needing a break, granted he himself never truly needed to rest beyond the times that he willingly decided to sleep. Something about dreaming was pleasant after all, so he tried to do that whenever he could. "I gotcha." He said with a nod, trying his best to understand the struggles of those heroes not as...gifted as him. "Don't gotta worry about me tryin to kill ya tho." He admitted with a grin. Of course he tried to avoid killing things, but then again there were times that he had to do that.
"Yeah, it did leave a pretty big trail to follow. I wonder what we'll find." He said with a nod, a little more than thrilled to have his first work together with a fellow hero. There had been no objections to the suggestion, meaning that he was good to go. "So I would be totally for checking it out...with you." His tone was perhaps a little too enthusiastic, but then again he was sure they would not mind that.
With that said he ascended to ascertain the trail that had been left, which took the form of deep lines drawn out of the concrete from the sheer weight of the creature. "Looks like someone's going to have a headache today." He muttered before descending to better communicate with Wrecker. "Can you fly? I mean it's okay if you can't, I just need to know before we do the whole following the wiggles thing."

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
"Ha! I would challenge you to a match, but we got work to do, my good sir." Granted, he had no clue of this guy's limits....or his own for that matter anymore, a good spar never hurt. Most of the time, anyways.
As Atlas pondered, Wrecker shrugged. "Could be a lab, like you thought. Or a gate to hell. Dun Dun Dun." He moved like a ghost, but in a silly way. "Yeah, totally. You and me. A team. I don't mind. I played team sports most of my life, so having an ally always helps." He said, giving the guy a sincere thumbs up.
When asked if he could fly, he bit his bottom lip. Insecurity bubbled ever so slightly, but he managed to chuckle. "Almost. I can use the wind to travel a bit, but nothing like what you can do. If you don't mind, can I get a ride? It would be faster." And right when Wrecker said so, the sirens of the authorities started getting nearer. "Better get going."

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
One thing he had learned within his training was never to underestimate someone, regardless of them being a metahuman or human. Considering the number of humans that managed to deal with metahumans, well that was a pretty smart thing to consider. Regardless at times Damian did find himself a little overconfident within his own abilities. "A gate to hell....i'll have to consider that one." He muttered to himself with a certain amount of seriousness within his voice, before returning his attention towards the trail of destruction that had been created. Having an ally would make all of this easier, but then again that only made him wonder how well this guy could handle himself. Not that Atlas could talk when it came to experience.
As for flying, it sounded more like that could float more than anything else. Which was fine, not everyone was made to fly, much like the people around the compound. "Can't fly huh? Well yeah I could give ya a lift." He said with a sort of optimism that was always present with him. Making a quick turn he presented his back to the metahuman. "Alright just wrap your arms around me neck and I'll grab onto your legs." He explained, though he had an idea that they already knew how this thing went. Once they did that, he could begin flying along the trail that had been left behind by the worm.

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
The young hero blinked at the idea of being given a piggy back ride. "Sure." Shrugging, he tried not to think that the position might make him feel a little self conscientious. Not everyday he just indirectly rubs his junk against a stranger, but as he climbed up, Wrecker gingerly wraps his arms around the new friend.
"I'm Wrecker, by the way. Nice to uh, meet you." He said, giving a half hearted smiled, that gave way to some cheek dimples.

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
"Wrecker huh? Get's the point across." He noted with a chuckle, making sure he had the males legs firmly held before making any sudden motions. "Nice to meetcha too Wrecker, I go by Atlas. I like it but people might go around expecting me to lift the world or something." A bad joke but then again he was not known for his ability to tell good jokes. His smile was however whole hearted, but then again that may have just been because he was so sure everything would go well. With his passenger now aboard, Atlas began the flight along the path of destruction which stretched out along the street or what remained of it.
Nothing remained of the streets save for the earth beneath it, along with what he could only assume was worm excretion. "Yuck, that is just....eeeww I can smell it from here. Super senses really suck, be glad you do not have them." Atlas noted with a face twisted in disgust as he continued along the street. At the moment he wanted to make sure he wasn't going at a speed that would disorient or throw the guy off, but it was still superhuman enough. This path of destruction went on for a few blocks until he came to what looked like a large hole, something large enough to accommodate the creature should it crawl out.
Making an almost abrupt stop, he flew closer to the ground to get a better look at the large hole. "Well...that looks like something we should check out. I mean, it looks like it was the place where the thing came out of, so maybe it'll lead us to.....wherever it came from." Descending until his feet were only a foot above the ground, he would then give Wreck the chance to get off of his back. "We probably need a flashlight because I'm not sure if you can see down there....unless you want me to fly you through there too." His tone never took an annoyed edge to his, more curious than anything else considering that he wasn't being inconvenienced by this.
I mean, it looks like it was the place where the thing came out of, so maybe it'll lead us to.....wherever it came from." Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
"And that is how I like it. Hero work doesn't always have time to explain things, but it is nice to meet you." Wrecker adjusts himself in his grip, careful to not makes things awkward. He pretends to cough and looks past his new buddy's head.
A laugh ensued, at the mention of super senses. "Yeah, I can still smell it. I can't imagine what it might be like for you, or a puppy." As the flight path continued, Wrecker stayed on the lookout, keeping himself close so he doesn't put another crack in the cement below.
Thank goodness we was semi ready for the stop though, he ended up squishing himself against Atlas. It was almost like a stepping on gum, the way he bopped into him, ending up putting a hand to his chest. "Jeeze man, this isn't a rodeo, I don't have the expertise to stay on for the full eight seconds."
As Atlas spoke, Wrecker nodded thinking of what they should do. "Actually, we should probably get in there, as quick as possible. Better I stay on you until we get to a suitable stopping point." He coughed again. "You know, hopefully catching the bad guys in the act." Admittedly, it was easy to let Atlas carry him around. Wrecker wasn't fast by any means, and every second could be a bad guy getting away. "If need be, I can use my cellphone. It has a flashlight app."

"Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things that a man needs to believe in the most: that people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; that love, true love, never dies... No matter if they're true or not, a man should believe in those things because those are the things worth believing in." - Hub McCann Secondhand Lions

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
If they could smell it with their senses, that did not speak well for him at all. Damian was aware of the hand against his chest for a moment, looking down at it before returning his attention to the situation at hand. "Sorry if I went a little too fast. I'm not used to having a plus one on me." He explained with a soft smirk, letting his night vision take hold as he looked into the darkness of the worm made cave. The walls appears as if they had been dug out via some manner of teeth, showing that this was indeed the hole that the worm had burrowed out of. His ears could still pick up the sound of the police sirens within the distance, suggesting they may come this way eventually. Granted, that was his super hearing rather than your normal hearing at work.
"That flashlight might be really helpful because we're descending into the...dark." Atlas paused for a moment, staring into the black of the tunnel and gulped. Despite the fact that he could see within it, even the coloration of his night vision sent a certain dread through him. For someone that was supposed to be the strongest hero within the world, he sure knew how to make himself seem like a wimp. "Let's just hope we don't end up meeting any unsavory folks, haven't really tried fighting with someone on my back." It was lucky that Wrecker had a flashlight, because that would make the creeping dread easier to bear once they descended into the darkness.
With that done he would begin the descent into the rapidly made cave, hovering only a good foot above the soily ground. The caverns smelt of earth, rock and of course the unfortunate excrement that one would expect of a worm dug hole. "I....think I hear something rumbling deeper down here....that never is good." Common sense spoke there, but then again that wasn't exactly a super power. "On the plus side, I have a feeling that may lead us to our culprits." It was fifteen minutes into their search they could come across what appeared to be a metal wall barely exposed within the dirt.
"Jackpot....I think. Not sure, that wall is lead lined and....I cannot see through it."

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
"It's fine, I am still not used to being able to pseudo fly. Not to mention heights scare the crap out of me." He said, pulling out his phone. As the sounds of buttons go off, a light eventually shines out of the device, giving them decent light.
"Relax big guy, we got this. Just drop me if you have to, I will be fine. Might not find anything other than a nest anyways." Wrecker retorted Atlas's seemingly shaky demeanor. His nose wiggled from the terrible smell. "My nose isn't always my friend, but this is just barbaric."
When they came as far as the wall would allow. Wrecker blinked. "This is an odd place to put a lead wall. Can you see around it? What does it form?" Wrecker wiggled, trying to be let down. "If not, we could just bust through it."

Re: Terror worms [Wrecker]
Now that they didn't need to fly through the tunnel, he could let down the slightly wriggling male that was latched onto his back. once that was done he ran his fingertips over the cold surface of the wall, more testing the strength of the wall more than anything else. "I don't know why theres the lead wall, but it won't be there for long." Atlas noted with a shrug before letting his hand dig into the wall, feeling the metal bend around his hands. It gave way without much difficulty and within a matter of moments sterile light would flow over him.
What lay beyond the wall was a sort of lab room, with tubes lining the wall filled with variously sized....worms within tubes. "Well I think we found where the worms came from." He muttered stepping into the room, looking for anything else of interest. "But there aren't any scientists, which feels really questionable. Maybe they're cloning the dinosaurs or something like that." Not exactly a likely idea, however it was something that would possibly happen considering the giant worm.
There were a few screens settled upon the wall with things flashing across them that he did not really understand. It might have been important stuff involving the worms around them within their test tubes. That was when he took notice of what appeared to be a camera, something that was focused upon them of all things. As soon as he took notice of it an alarm would begin to go off as the wall itself would rapidly close behind them. Within a matter of seconds men dressed within black would appear in the only door that lead out of the room with weapons trained upon them.
"Security's here, damn."
