The Looks

Amber looks like an extremely sick, immaciated and almost corpse-like human in her human form. She has extremely pale, sunken skin with a dry texture, almost as if all the water has been sucked out of it. Her blue veins can be seen clearly under her paper-like skin. Her hair is flaccid and dull. The impression she gives is that of a walking corps. Her eyes are her most striking feature as they are entirely black with no white or iris. Her skin is slightly cool to the touch and those with an enhanced sense of smell can smell a slight hint of decay. As for clothing, Amber tend towards practical and simple with pants and a shirt being most common. She wears no make-up nor any jewellery.

The Legacy

Personality:
Amber feels at odds with the human world and it shows in the way she interacts with it. She speaks little and when she does speak she speaks directly. Human conventions often confuse her and she rarely takes the time to try to follow them unless she sees them as very important. Emotions are something she feels but she feels them distantly and the lens in which she experiences them is slanted. She is naive in the ways of human motivation and dishonesty and as such is easily manipulated, especially by those who purport to care about her.

It isn't quite accurate to say that Amber is driven by the feral instincts of the forms she transforms into, but she does feel them in the same distant way she feels emotions. However, she holds the motivations of the natural world to higher regard than the motivations of the human world. She considers her second form to be be that of a deinonychus and sees herself almost as more that creature than human. As such, pack or family are held at great import.

Amber is completely asexual and aromatic.

History:

Amber was a sickly child right from birth. Pale and week, she was given up for adoption when she was only an infant. Given her ailments, she was one of the unlucky ones and remained in the foster system until her late teens. She was a shy and lonely child because she mostly wasn't able to go outside and play with the other kids and no one wanted to hang out inside with the sick girl. She was an excellent student with a gift for music. Her violin became her passion.

At the age of 17 Amber was adopted. What should have been the happiest moment of her young life turned into the start of her nightmare. She was taken and locked up on a laboratory and made into a human experiment. She was special, she was told, although how or why she had no idea. She was also unwanted and wouldn't go missed. For over a year she spent locked up, poked, prodded and injected. They were going to make her into a weapon, they told her, into something glorious. They were going to make her into a human dinosaur; a hunter and a killer.

Amber would like to take credit for her escape, but she can't. She wasn't the only one made into a human guinea pig and it was one of the others who downed the security and allowed her to flee. When the lights went out the only thing she could do was take advantage of the one stroke of good fortune and get the hell out of there. People died that day and not just their captors. Amber took on the only other form she had at that point and changed into a deinonychus and fled, attacking anyone or anything that got on in her way. The memories of that night were memories she'd have much rather forgotten. But she wasn't to be that lucky.

Life after being experimented on was complicated. Amber was no longer comfortable in the city; she had no skills to help her survive as an adult and no prospects for the future. What she could do, however, was flee into the forest and live off the land, which is exactly what she did. For several years; exactly how long she wasn't certain as time didn't have the same meaning in that form of life as it did in the human world, she lived on the outskirts of Seattle, mostly living off deer and stray animals from the nearby humans. If it wasn't a bad life it was a lonely one. Sometimes she would enter the city, almost always at night, and pretend at being human again. Mostly she was content with her life, but sometimes the dream of being human was too strong to ignore.

The end of her time in the woods resulted in the second kidnapping of Amber's life; this one done in far more violent an initial manner than the first. There were rumours, as it turned out, of a dinosaur hunting in the woods and those rumours attracted unwanted attention. Ultimately, she was caught in a bear trap and loaded into the back of a van where she travelled for countless hours. She awoke, finally, in a completely different part of the world and for the second time found herself locked in a cage. This time, however, she was not made to be an experiment; she was made to transform and fight the largest and most dangerous of wild animals to the death while crowds of people watched and made bets upon the victor.

Amber's second escape from captivity she could take credit for. Her captors weren't quite as careful as they should have been when moving her from one cage to another and she took advantages, tearing out the throat of one of the men and eviscerating a second with a viscous sickle claw to the stomach of the second. She fled and thus began her second stint living in the wild, this time deep in the rain forests of Brazil. This second time was unlike her first in that she fell so deep into the mind of the deinonychus that she forgot who she was and what it was to be human. For months she existed in this fashion and it was nearly being killed by a poacher that brought her back to herself.

Once again herself, Amber made the decision that it was time to unite the two sides of herself, hunter and human, into one whole creature. It was time to re-integrate into society. That decision made, she managed to steal some clothing and smuggle herself onto a plane back to America in her compsognathus form.

The Powers and Weaknesses

Powers

Zombiesaur Shifter: Amber can change into undead dinosaurs. Dinosaurs, in this case, is taken in the colloquial rather than the scientific. As such, it covers any reptiles from the mesozoic era. When shifted, Amber looks almost identical to the specimen she imprinted with the exception that she appears to be a walking corpse. Her forms are emaciated, with patchy scales and feathers and dull colors. Her skin is slightly cool to the touch.

Current forms: Deinonychus, compsognathus, styracosaurus, pterodaustro, allosaurus, Pinacosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Plesiosaurus, Spinosaurus and mecistotrachelos apeoros.

Undead Physiology: If Amber can't quite be considered undead, she can't be considered properly alive either. If wounded she will bleed, but her blood is thick and viscous and she bleeds at about 1/5 the natural human rate. While she does require oxygen, she can hold her breath approximately 5X the length of time of a normal human. She is resistant to extremes in temperature and comfortable in environments ranging from -30 Celsius up to +45 Celsius. She requires only 2 hours of sleep a night to function normally. She has a reduced sensitivity to pain and resistance to minor damage. She ages at about 1/4 the natural human rate.

Death Sight: Amber sees everything through a lens of death. Anything living or previously living glows, for lack of a better term. Things living or just recently dead glow the strongest, something dead but unprocessed glows moderately and something dead and processed glows only faintly. The unusual sight imparts, in the most general fashion, the general health level of the target, whether or not they are ageless and can help detect concealed targets.

Necrotic Energy Channeling: Amber has gained the ability to channel the necrotic energy present in all living and previously living things in order to concentrate into a given target. The target herself or another living (or previously living) thing and the effects vary based upon whether the target is alive or undead.

In a living target, concentrated necrotic energy serves to sicken and decay. Initially, the target will feel sick and weak. After 30 seconds, small festering cuts begin to open and fester across the targets body and the smell of sickness and decay is noticeable. After 1 minute the festering worsens, the wounds begin to weep and maggots and other vermin begin to fall from them. 2 minutes of concentration is long enough to kill a cat or a small dog, 3 minutes is enough time to kill a mid-sized dog and 5 minutes is enough time to kill a 'normal' human.

In undead target, including herself, the concentration acts as a temporary boost to all physical characteristics. For every 30 seconds of concentration, strength and durability doubles to a maximum of 2 minutes.

Weakness(es)

Zombiesaur Shifter: Shifting takes around 30 seconds to complete, during which point Amber is vulnerable and is far from a painless process. Taking on a new form requires actually being able to imprint a form into her memory by physically handling a fossil from that form. Once imprinted, it takes around a month of significant use in order to master control of said form. Speech is only possible in human form. The maximum size of dinosaur that Amber can imprint is approximately the weight of an African Elephant or about 5 tons.

Undead Physiology: Amber has extreme sunlight sensitivity. In direct sunlight, her skin would begin to burn and blister within minutes. In overcast conditions, such might take 15 or 20 minutes. As such, she normally covers herself from head to tow when outside. This weakness applies only while in human form.

Amber has unique dietary restrictions. She cannot eat processed or cooked foods as they will make her violently ill.

Death Sight: Everything is seen through a lens of death. Whatever living or previously living thing she sets her eyes upon exists in a perpetual state of ageing ad decaying.

Necrotic Energy Channeling: Only a single target can be affected at a time. Must be within 100 ft of said target with a clear line of sight.

Both the damage and the boosts are temporary. For every 30 seconds of concentration, the effects last for 10 minutes, gradually tapering off as time elapses. If a target dies, the effect is permanent.

Concentration is necessary in order for the power to operate. Any interruption which can include such things as physical damage or distraction will break the effect. Once concentration is broken, the duration of the effect begins and the effect no longer progresses in strength.

The power can only be triggered in human form. Once concentration is broken, shifted form can resume and the effect remains until the duration has expired.
