Rating
Sexual Content 2: Sexual content is permitted. References and writing about genitalia and sex acts are permitted, but explicit detail is not. Fade to black, or use the dotdotdot rule. (Let's keep it PG-13.)
Violence 2: Graphic violence is permitted. Explicit description or in-game narration violence is allowed.
Despite these ratings, keep in mind that there is a limit, and you should not cross it just to garner attention. Also, resorting to curse words is also like adding senseless fluff to your posts.

The Legacy |
Personality: He is steadfast and very driven, often to a point of stubbornness. He is prone to hubris and arrogance, but he truly cares about the people he fights to protect. As an archaeologist, Garth has a serious hunger for knowledge. He loves studying history and considers visiting a museum on Saturday a great way to spend his weekend. History: Dr. Garth Alexopoulus is a Greek-American archaeologist who was always fascinated with the mythology of his ancient ancestors. During a dig in the recently-discovered ruins of a temple of Poseidon, Garth brushed up against a statue of the sea god. That's when his life changed forever. "My son!" boomed a loud voice, "Welcome home." The statue had become alive, and Garth was now hearing Poseidon's voice. The god revealed that Garth Alexopoulus was a direct descendent of the hero Theseus, and therefore Poseidon himself. Garth was granted enhanced strength and endurance, the physique of a Greek hero, and the ability to fly. (Poseidon thought that a superhero in today's competitive market would need flight to stay popular.) In an attempt to revive his worship, Poseidon instructed Garth, who had taken the name "Argonaut" after his favorite Greek myth, to go out and perform acts of heroism in Philadelphia. He joined the Guild of Heroes in order to get better recognition and fame. For a while, things went well for Argonaut. He became decently popular among the people and his fellow Guildmates. When the leader, General Union, found out about a marketing deal Argonaut was setting up for himself, though, things took an ugly turn. Union and Argonaut argued about the latter's reason for becoming a hero. Eventually this argument blew up into a full-fledged fight, and the two battled it in the New Mexico. After Argonaut was thoroughly trounced, Union revoked his membership. Argonaut began to realize that the General was right. He had only become a hero on Poseidon's promise of fame and glory, and he was slowly losing focus. He had seen what that had done to other heroes; becoming more and more comprimising, allowing more collateral damage and leading to heroes determining what were "acceptable losses." He wouldn't allow himself to do that, and dedicated himself to fighting for the right reasons. He cut all ties with Poseidon (who had already awoken his 'divine spark') and embarked on a new journey as a true defender of the people. When he's not out fighting injustice and admiring the way his cape flaps in the wind when he flies, Garth is a history professor at the University of Pennsylvania in his native Philadelphia. |
The Powers and Weaknesses |
Powers Power 1: Super Strength Power 2: High Durability Power 3: Flight Power 4: Summons artifacts such as the Blade of Perseus, the Shield of Achilles, and the nondescript Javelin of Zeus. Weakness(es) Weakness 1: His powers are far less effective against creatures that are not from Earth. Since his powers, and the Olympian gods, are tied very closely with the natural world and its energies, anything outside of it is less vulnerable to him. Weakness 2: Argonaut is prone to bouts of hubris and arrogance. The lure of fame still draws him, and he often takes his own way rather than the wiser way. Weakness 3: Even though he's incredibly durable, he still feels pain like a generally normal person. A large burst of pain could incapacitate him. Weakness 4: While he can summon artifacts, the act of summoning them takes a few moments of time, energy, and concentration. During this time, he can be easily caught off guard or taken advantage of. In addition, he can only summon a single artifact at any one time. RP Mechanics RP Mechanic(s): His belt buckle and his eyes glow golden at various intensities depending on his current stamina and health. They're a sort of "HP indicator." Items/Minions The Blade of Perseus, which, having been stained by the blood of Medusa, has the ability to paralyze those that it cuts. The paralysis lasts between 1-5 minutes, depending on the toughness, health, and origin of the victim. It only works on living creatures that aren't immune to poison. The Shield of Achilles, which increases the physical durability of the wielder. His ankle is left even weaker than normal, and a single strike to his ankle can incapacitate him. The Javelin of Zeus, a normal looking javelin that transforms into a streaking bolt of lightning when thrown. It passes through the target before returning its shape to a normal javelin. This ability cannot be used again until the next sunrise. Physical Priority (You are to put these physical attributes in order from 1 to 4. 1 is the highest priority, 4 is the lowest.) Agility 3 Endurance 2 Reaction 4 Strength 1 |
