The Legacy

Personality: Despite the physical changes Milo had gone through, his personality not only survived, but thrived as the dominant one controlling the swarm. Milo lives to have fun and be liked. He likes jokes, puns and other forms of word play. His taste in food is really the only major change, as he has become rather uncaring about what he eats or if its even fresh. His want to be liked by just about everyone makes him dislike fighting. He is one to offer to talk things out rather than instantly resorting to violence.

The passive presence that also resides withing the swarm body, Milo refers to as the Host. The Host is the collective consciousness of the insects that create his form. Unlike Milo, there is no actual personality attached to it. All of the insects' instincts are represented as a single entity that simmers below the far more forceful will of Milo. The Host's main concern is for self-preservation and is not above sacrificing to achieve those goals. The Host is otherwise cold and calculating. It is cunning, but can be easily predictable to those familiar with it.

History: Milo's life started off just as average as any other kid in the boring Midwest. He graduated from high school like the rest of his peers and attended a local college for a basic degree in business. For him, the region was just one big whirlpool that refused to let go of anyone trapped within it. Milo was never a fan of 'boring' and often complained about it to anyone. He always wished his life was exciting like any of the super heroes he heard about on the news. He doubted he would be that lucky though. Just another person stuck out in Nowhere to do nothing of import in the world. It wasn't until he moved off to the East Coast that he found out just how interesting his life could get.

Of the several requests he sent, Milo was able to finally transfer schools to a small college out in Massachusetts. It was on the flight there where thing changed. Somewhere over Pennsylvania, a blinding white light flashed through the sky and enveloped the plane. It must have activated Milo's dormant metagene and, as Milo theorizes, warped or mutated it. Milo's body began to change in front of him as parts of his body began to crumble into masses of writhing insects. Around him was chaos as the flash caused system failures throughout the plane and would end in a terrible crash. All aboard were thought to have perished. Milo had survived however as his new body had scattered and reformed, changed into a squirming amorphous blob of bugs.

Once he had calmed down, Milo tried to reform himself and wandered into a town where he discovered the fate of the plane for the first time. He was stunned and found himself wandering back into the wilderness. He spent the next six months learning about his abilities and the drawbacks that came with it. Maybe it was because he was raised to respect life or maybe it was guilt over surviving the crash, but when Milo reemerged from the wilds, he vowed to prevent the loss of life where ever he was.

The Powers and Weaknesses

(All characters can be as powerful as they want, as long as they are balanced with proper weaknesses.)
Powers

Power 1: Gestalt Body: Locust's 'human' form is comprised not of flesh, but of thousands of insects working together to mimic the human form. Locust's personality which dominates the swarm commands it into the form being thought of at the time. The form is mechanically sound for movement, but retains none of the abilities of the body save for Locust's. The mimicking is not always 100% perfect which can lead to telling, and terrifyingly disturbing discrepancies between the mimic and the subject.

Gestalt body also adds a strange form of regeneration that works in tandem with his Hivemind ability.

Without internal organs to destroy or bones to break, most attacks don't do more than kill a few insects at a time. However energy-based attacks like fireballs or arcs of electricity do far much more damage that takes longer to fix.

As a large amount of insects are capable of flight, Locust can break down into an amorphous mass and fly as a swarm, then reform at his destination.

Power 2: Hivemind: This ability, which Milo theorizes was his original power, allows Milo to impose his will over insects and add them to the swarm that composes his body. The process is quick, but requires his full attention and is not a combat-friendly skill. Adding to the swarm adds to strength of will that the Host holds.

Weakness(es)

Weakness 1:”Beware the Bug zapper”: Energy-based attacks like fire or lightening can kill the insects in large quantities, doing more and lasting damage.

Weakness 2: “You don't look like a hero”: Despite his intentions, Locust looks more like some kind of monstrous villain rather than some heroic figure. Locust often has problems with having the authorities being called on him when he tries to save people.

Weakness 3:”Host”: The personification of all of the collective instincts of every insect that resides within the swarm, which Milo calls the Host, waits for its turn to take control. The larger the swarm, the more powerful the Host becomes. The more powerful the Host is, the more often Locust acts on instinct.
