The Legacy

Personality:
Happy-Go-Lucky:If anyone would get to know Charlie for a second they'd quickly describe him as happy-go-lucky. He is usually always willing to look towards the bright side of things. It could be his young nature, but he always excited to be doing something.

Naive: While he does wisen up a bit as Samaritan, Charles is usually quite the naive person. He's very willing to trust most people, and will usually always give the benefit of the doubt. He has yet to ever be betrayed by someone, being so young, but doesn't really think that people are bad, just forced to do bad things. This, mixed with Samaritans sympathy, either makes him a very compassionate person, or a huge idiot.

Fun Loving and Adventurous: Being a kid, Charlie loves to have fun. Given the choice between doing homework, and going out a fighting crime, Charles would rather save the day, anyday. He likes to play games, and include others, trying to make any situation more fun for everyone involved. He likes making friends, as he sees it as something of an adventure, something he's always willing to try out.

Responsible*: As Samaritan, Charlie gains a different perspective, and one of the most valued is that of sense of responsibility. Being Samaritan instills a sense of something greater into Charles and inspires him to go out and help those who can't help themselves. It isn't entirely certain whether or not this has to do with the transformation or not, as he doesn't tend to have that same sense of responsibility outside of the form, but still very much likes to help people regardless.

History:

A long time ago, during what some would consider "The Golden Age", there was an amazing hero by the name "Samaritan". He was the man every man dreamed of being, and every woman dreamed of being with (or so it was put in the papers), and he was also New York's most watchful protector. Coming from seemingly nowhere, Samaritan appeared in Manhattan in the June of 1945 stopping a train from colliding with the station. Now Walter Freeman, the man New Yorkers would come to know as Samaritan, believed he was born in 1920 in Brooklyn to a young family from Connecticut, but that was far from the truth. A truth Walter unfortunately would never find out as his mother only revealed that he wasn't their biological child right before she passed away in 1942.

But here he was, Walter Freeman, going by the name of the Samaritan, helping out the city that brought him up and times were great. Life was a lot simpler back then, a bad guy would do something evil, and Samaritan would stop them, it was just that simple. As Walter Freeman, He had a loving wife in the district attorney, Janet Freeman and soon after had a beautiful daughter, Anne-Marie, named after his mother.  For 15 years, Samaritan helped out the good people of the world and things were relatively peaceful. That was, however, changed in an instant when some suicidal madman had concocted a way to jettisoned loose space debris into the Earth.  Of course, it was Samaritans job to stop this from happening at any cost, and so he flew off to save the day, like any other.   Something was different though, as Samaritan deflected the debris into the sun, he fell back to Earth with a loud crash that shook the Earth.

No one knew what was going on, but the once invincible Samaritan was dying. Many heroes of the time tried everything they could to try to prevent the passing of one of their greatest', but to no avail. It seemed like the world's greatest protector was going to pass away, and there was nothing anyone could do, but one person had a rather unique idea for saving the hero. A man well versed in magic, knowing how susceptible the "Man of Valor" was to the mystical arts, thought perhaps he could preserve the essence of the hero perhaps transferring it to another to continue the legacy of hero.

Having no other option, or ideas, everyone let the magician work his magic. As he started speaking in latin, an aura formed around Samaritan and a brilliant glow emanated from the dying man. Everyone watched in awe as this man actually appeared to be doing what he claimed, when a sinister grin came to his face. See, the magic man didn't want to preserve the essence of Samaritan, but instead wanted to insure it's destruction once and for all, and this was his moment. Several heroes, and friends to Samaritan caught on to this charade and took action taking down the mage swiftly. Unfortunately, it had seemed like they were too late as Samaritan appeared to be finally dead.

The world mourned the loss of their champion, but as most things go his story was eventually lost to time. Decades later and only those alive during the time of the Samaritan truly knew what was lost.

Forward to Present Day.

Charles Andrews is a kid from Worcester. He was born to an average middle class family that was making it along. Charlie lived with his older sister, and younger brother in a modest little apartment, with a wonderful view of the side of a warehouse. He lived a pretty simple life, he went to school, and hung out with his friends when he could. He enjoyed helping out the people on his street, and going exploring with his friends. Unfortunately, his care-free life had to be put aside a bit as he found out his parents were sending him to boarding school. They figured Charlie would learn more from an enclosed, monitored environment, as Charlie was considered by his teachers to be very distracted, and overly imaginative. This was unfortunately reflected in his grades leading him to be sent off to a boarding school in Lake Placid in 2019.  The school was located on the outskirts of New York, and was mostly unaffected by the attacks during 2018, but his parents were still worried he might be in danger. The school had reaffirmed them that they would keep Charlie as safe as humanly possible.

Trying to keep an optimistic view on the world, Charlie has been trying to make friends in his new environment which is turning out a lot harder than he'd expected. Charlie would spend his days walking around the lake, thinking about how he could improve his situation, and often losing himself in thought. It was during one of these trips that Charles came across an odd phenomena. There were rumors around the school that at night, a glowing ghost would haunt the lake. Of course, Charlie didn't really believe in the superstition, but there he was, in the middle of the night, faced down with a glowing apparition. Not knowing if he should be scared or not, he just stared at the light cloud. It was then that a voice spoke out to him, but he wasn't hearing it through his, instead hearing it in his head. The same words over, and over again. Virus.Virtus.Virtus.

Over and over again, he heard these strange words, and it compelled him to speak..."Virtus". As soon as he had uttered the words, he was quickly enveloped in the light of the strange being as he felt himself being transformed.  The ordeal ended as quickly as it had started and...Charlie didn't feel any different, except he was a bit taller...and his feet weren't touching the ground any more. As he looked down at his reflection on the lake, cast by the bright moon, he saw himself in this bright red outfit, with a blue sash draped over him, and he looked older, much older. Before he could process what was going on, he heard the voice again. It was much clearer this time. An older, wiser, but kind voice spoke within his head. It too was confused as to what was going on, but the one thing he could remember were the words "Virtus".

As this older man, Charlie felt stronger, faster, and even smarter. In this state, he felt like he could do anything, but the voice, the man, he told him of responsibility and honor, and of course, told him his story. So Charles sat, lakeside, in this strange form and listened to this man tell him stories of adventure, and excitement, and unfortunate tragedy. By the end, the sun was rising, but Charles was now instilled with a great sense of responsibility, and felt the need to honor the life of the man who's body he seemed to have inhabited...except there was an issue. He was still Charles Andrew, and he had a life of his own.

While every kid dreams of getting superpowers, and Charles was certainly one of them, he wasn't sure if he was completely ready to just abandon everything he knew and just fly off into the sunset to save lives. The older man, calling himself Samaritan, also didn't want to burden the poor child with this life he lived apparently long ago. They stood at an odd point, Charles didn't want to let down this great man who helped so many people, but Samaritan didn't want to just take over the life of some innocent child.Thinking about their situation, they uttered the words "Virtus", and Charles was swiftly transformed back into his normal form. It was then that Charlie figured out how to honor this Samaritan, and he would do so every chance he got, while trying to maintain a normal life.

While Samaritan doubted his ability to do so, Charles was dedicated to making sure this man's legend would live on, help him come to terms with everything that has passed, and figure out the mysteries of his past.

The Powers

Hyper-strength (STR 8): Samaritan is incredibly strong able lift things up to 350 tons. Able to stop moving locomotives with his bare hands, and lift them off the tracks, Samaritan clearly packs quite the punch. He was able to maintain stability over his strength so he wouldn't crush peoples hands when he shook them, or rip a door off it's hinges, however Charlie hasn't completely grasped that level of control.

Flight:  Samaritan is capable of self propelled flight for some unknown reason. While most believe Samaritan is merely a metahuman, there are a few (including Samaritan) who believe he is actually alien and his alien cells react to Earth's environment differently. While they might not be too far off, it's actual more complicated than that.

Invulnerability (DUR 8): Samaritan seems to impervious to very many things as many have tried desperately to kill him with knives, bullets, lasers, missiles,  and more and all seemed to have failed. Little known fact, the only thing that can pierce and even kill Samaritan is Iridium (In fact, you might not even need to stab him with it to affect him.)

Super-Speed (SPD 7):  Samaritan is incredibly fast able to move at speeds up to 800 mph. Similar to his flight abilities, while most believed he was simply a metahuman, others(including himself) believe his alien biology allows him to move way faster than the average human.

Transformation: Charlie is capable of saying the words "Virtus", which allows him to take the form of Samaritan. He is able to do this as the evil sorcerer who intended to completely destroy Samaritans essence, merely displaced it due to the interruption of Samaritans friends. The incantation was done in latin, and the title for Samaritan used in the spell was "Hominem Virtus" or Man of Valor. In a bit of irony, Charles now uses the very words of the sorcerer to become the hero, he tried to kill so long ago.

You don't need the 1 point in magic for the transformation. It's an RP mechanic in this case since it activates the character's powers.

It's still 30 points maximum. You can get the rest with experience.

I've changed it, as I don't want to break the rules of course. Though I feel for the sake of storytelling, Samaritan would be a bit better in some areas than he would with the 30 point limit based on the descriptions given in the stat equivalents. I don't want to be a pain however.

You have 32 points spent. Still need to lower it some more.
