The Legacy

Personality: Bernard is quiet and only usually says a few words to others with a cool guy attitude when he absolutely has to speak. His trust is hard to gain but once it is you will never find someone more loyal, yet if he is betrayed after instilling this trust he will make it his duty to get revenge. Ultimately, he doesn't care about anyone but himself and his well being.

He is also quite violent, if one were to insult him bad enough he would fly into a rage.
He grew up poor in Brooklyn, so you can imagine the sorts of trouble he got into and what he's ok with doing. He could be described as rude, hot headed, and impatient at first glance. But behind that tough guy attitude you'll find a troubled and depressed mind. After getting his powers he became overconfident and power hungry, but also visibly happier. He mostly works as a mercenary now, but also steals quite alot.

History: Bernard grew up under privileged in Brooklyn. He lived with his dad alone in a trash apartment for most of his childhood. His relationship with his father took a turn when he approached his teen years, mostly because his dad was an alcoholic and tended to beat him when inebriated. He ran away from home at 16 and lived on the streets for over a year before being caught by the police and sent to a boys home. It was even dumpier the his dads apartment, and he hated it just as much.

After he reached the age of 18 he was allowed to leave as he was legally an adult. He had no where to go but managed to get a janitorial job at a local research facility. He actually enjoyed all the science stuff, maybe if school made it more fun he would have gotten better grades on the subject. The head scientist took note of his interest and offered him an assistant position. It was higher paying and alot better then cleaning toilets so Bernard accepted.

All year every worker and scientist in the facility was working on a single project, everyone was calling it an Accelerator. Bernard had no idea what it was but it was a fascinating contraption. The day had come when they would finally activate it, and Bernard had a front row seat. He was approached by the head researcher, who's name was Alexander Bevilo.

"Finally! we get to turn this hunk of metal on my boy! what do ya say you come with us to celebrate after this?" Alexander said to him with a grin. "Sounds great, i just hope it doesn't explode or something" Said Bernard in response only half joking. "Don't worry, it will be fine. I have countless hours put into it, I'm 100 percent sure it won't explode" Alexander said chuckling. "Sir, What exactly does i-" Before Bernard could finish he was cut off by the sound of the machines activation. It was quite the sight, rings spinning and spinning, giving power to the devices core.

Everything seemed fine, the workers cheered and congratulated each other. But not long after the machine made a loud cracking sound as if it was falling apart, and everyone panicked. "It's gunna blow! EVERYONE! RUN!" everyone scattered except Bernard. Who was staring at the collapsing core, transfixed by its beauty. "Bernard! What are you doing boy!?" Alexander screamed. He tried to run up and grab Bernard, but he was to late, the machine exploded.

After the explosion past, everyone seemed to be ok except Bernard who was unconscious with 3rd degree burns in front of the machine. Alexander and the other workers ran toward his injured body, picking him up and putting him on a stretcher. "Your such an idiot! look what you did to yourself!" Alex yelled as they to him to the urgent medical bay. The workers and doctors strapped him down and began working on him, his life was in their hands...

He awoke 2 weeks later, screaming. The docters rushed to calm him, which they succeeded in doing. They said something miraculous was happening to his body. He had gained the power of superspeed from the explosion, the energy that fueled the machine was now fueling him. He thought it was a joke at first, but quickly found out it was true just by moving. He was incredibly freaked out and had to be sedated a few times.

After weeks of "testing" largely against his will he over heard the scientist's talking about something that made his stomach turn. They said they needed to more thoroughly examine his body, and to do that they needed him dead. After all, everyone outside the lab still thought he died in the explosion, it was easy enough to kill a dead man. The only one to object to this was Alexander, but he too was swayed by talk of the 'greater good'. This broke Bernards heart, the only friend he ever had just gave him up for dead.

The next morning they came for him, needle in hand. But he was gone, or so they thought. He was actually moving faster then the eye could see, becoming nearly invisible to them. He unleashed on them in a fit of rage and sadness, killing them one by one with medical tools. After all others were dispatched he knocked Alexander to the ground, then stood above him.
"HOW COULD YOU! You save my life only to kill me off! You were my friend! A father figure!" He yelled at him and with each sentence he kicked the man on the floor, causing him to roll from the impact. "...i..im sorry, but...you have no idea...what your body holds.....With the sacrifice of one poor kid i could have saved millions" Alexander coughed up blood shortly after speaking. Bernard stayed silent for a moment, bowing his head in both disappointment and grief. "You son of a bitch.." Saying this, he grabbed Alexander by the neck and snapped it with one lightning fast motion.

He just stood there for almost half an hour, contemplating what to do next. He had no place in this world, he was a freak, a murderer, a monster... He eventually pulled himself from thought and began to leave, he grabbed the suit of armor he had his eye on from day one then shot out of the building.

Years later Bernard was working as a mercenary/assassin for hire under the handle Blindside for anyone who would pay enough. It was the last job he saw himself doing as a kid but he rather enjoyed it, it gave his purpose. He gained a reputation for quick and clean target removal, becoming one of the most sought after hired guns in the north east.

The Powers

Super Speed:(8spd) Bernard can move at speeds thought unachievable by humans, his top speed being nearly 1000mph.

Speed Phase:(1abl) Bernard can vibrate his molecules at insanely high speeds allowing him to become intangible for 1 post with a cooldown equal to the duration.

Velocity Combat:(8fs) Although Bernard is not a skilled fighter without his speed and reaction time he has become quite proficient in using his speed for combat purposes, even creating his own martial art he calls "Velocity"

Wall Running:(1flight) Bernard can use his speed to run on vertical surfaces.

Momentum Based Strength:(6str) Bernard can inflict a heavy amount of damage with physical attacks by speeding up his strikes (Bernard only has the damage and jumping portions of strength, his lifting power is only at 3 str)
