"Growing up in Croydon, England was the first of many things in Bethany's life that she despised. The streets were filthy and the people were even worse. With parents that couldn't care whether she was out drinking or sprawled out in a ditch, Bethany learnt to fend for herself. At first she would steal fruit or vegetables from the market, only enough to get by and she would leave money in return when she could.

Though, it wasn't long before it soon became far more serious. At the age of sixteen, Bethany met Luca, a sweet talking, charm inducing adolescent that was everything that she thought she wanted. He helped her steal food and even provided a roof over her head on more than one occasion. They became fast friends and despite Bethany always feeling something more for Luca, she never acted upon it.

They told each other secrets and personal thoughts that they couldn't share with anyone. Bethany had told Luca about her alcoholic, substance abusing parents and in return, he told her the story of his broken home. They were perfect for each other in every way and in some cases, were more like siblings than anything else. However, it wasn't until Bethany reached eighteen that she discovered Luca's true nature.

Slowly he started to become more and more aggressive, often looking for fights rather than trying to avoid them. Unbeknownst to her at the time, it was because his superhuman abilities were beginning to manifest. He was confused and scared and had decided to walk down a dark path in terms of 'finding himself.' Eventually he became violent with Bethany and as a result of this, her own abilities began to manifest. She discovered that she could walk through solid objects unphased and even enter buildings without using the door; this appeared to be the answer to all of her problems. She thought that dealing with their new gifts together would heal the chasm that had formed between them.

But, when she told Luca, he had far more sinister ideas than simply getting back to how things were. He began coercing Bethany into stealing money and priceless jewels which he would sell to the highest bidder; he didn't care about the money, just the authority.

Then, when Luca received word of a priceless artefact that could enhance the abilities of metahumans, he dragged Bethany all the way to the States. They continued their crime-spree unopposed and eventually, Luca made a name for himself in the criminal world. He gained followers that were loyal to him, women that succumbed to his every whim and even a metahuman that would steal other abilities for him.

Luca was able to either enhance or nullify the abilities of other metahumans around him, but he later discovered that he could also steal them if he tampered with them long enough. He would have loved nothing more than to take Bethany's abilities, but he felt some sort of obligation to protect her. Though, Bethany could see that Luca had lost his way and was being overwhelmed by the concept of power.

So, one night in late January, Bethany planned to kill Luca and all of those that had murdered, stole and assaulted in his name. There was no way that she could single handedly defeat all of them, so she spent her free time hastily learning how to make a bomb. It wasn't difficult and all she needed was an empty paint can, nails and gunpowder. Bethany had everything she needed, but that evening, one of Luca's lackey's had brought in an elderly man that supposedly had an impressive ability. Realising that she couldn't take an innocent life, Beth detonated the bomb and risked her life in order to save the stranger.

Fortunately, both of them made it out alive and he was very grateful; in return he offered her a place to stay until she got back on her feet. Bethany had spent days mourning the loss of Luca and then men he'd employed; she knew it was the right thing to do but guilt still consumed her routinely.

It wasn't long after that she learned the man was named Edgar, and he had the ability to copy any physical motion he saw. Overtime he taught Bethany how to defend herself but it was clear that his body was deteriorating; and it wasn't much longer until he passed away.

Then, at twenty years old, Bethany resorted to stealing again but on a higher scale than before. She would steal and sell priceless artefacts to those that commissioned her for her specific set of skills; she now has a very healthy bank account.

Bethany currently lives in an apartment in New York, where she admires -and when she can, mimics- the work of heroes and also reluctantly partakes in the actions of villains.

So far your app looks rad! But your grid is confusing me to no end!

Haha; looks to me like you want to have Kitty's powers, but using her intangibility she also creates forcefields and raises her own defense.

So, to make this easier to understand:

Here's what should be her base grid, if I'm understanding properly:
INT: 4
STR: 3 (4 when using the tough skin-etc)
SPD: 4 (I have no idea how speed would increase, other than the fact that because of the "tough skin" intangibility stuff would allow you to move faster through the air. So it could potentially increase when activating your powers)
DUR: 3 (6 when using the intangibility armor/thing)
FS: 4 (FS will have to stay as 6 cause learning 2 additional "levels" of FS when using your powers is a bit.. odd; so it's either 4 or 6 FS; not one and then the other when using the power)
ABI: 6 (For all intensive purposes, I'm going to place you with 6 Ability; it will explain how your character has moving through walls/objects, forcefields, and then the tough skin etc. This means your forcefields will have 6 "dur" when activating that instead of your tough skin, increased speed, and increased strength.)

So, your characters basegrid would look like this [without the explanations]

I think I was a little confused when I was actually putting points next to stats. In my thinking, the increase in FS was how effective they are - not that she learns a new set of combat skills. The speed increase was genuinely only because of the example grid I read in the rules, I didn't want the problem to be that she had increased effectiveness in combat but couldn't move fast enough to accommodate that. But yes, I totally agree with your explanation. I think I just got a little confused with the health regen analogies on the Stat Equivalents page.
