John is of average height, with black hair and brown eyes. Because of his lack of funding, his outfit typically consists of street clothing: A black tee shirt, denim jeans, skate shoes, a brown hat, and sunglasses.

The Legacy

Personality: Outside of combat, John is calm, friendly, and rarely holds a grudge for long. He is fairly creative, witty, and knows what he wants out of life. He has a decent amount of fighting spirit, and is confident in his abilities, although he has much to learn about their potential.

History: John's father was a strong fisherman and a religious man, his mother having passed away during child-birth. He loved his son more than anything, but was lost at sea when the boy was eleven years old. Growing up with his uncle, a Pastor at the local Baptist church, John learned to value the small pleasures in life. He spent his time playing with friends and getting into fights with young local gang members, developing his father's natural toughness.

One day, he witnessed a building burning down, and a woman, unable to escape to the firemen's arms, jumped. He reached out to her in shock, and received a surprise of his own. His arm stretched, and his hand grew, catching the woman in midair! John naturally set her down, and ran like the wind, confused and terrified.

His uncle taught him to use his shapeshifting gift for good, and he became the crime-fighter Shifter, the ever useful meta-human who defends the weak.

The Powers

Power 1: Shapeshifting - Shifter's primary ability, he can alter his body's shape and size at will, stretching his limbs, growing, shrinking, growing limbs, or changing shape to be better served in the environment. There are limits, but he can fundamentally alter his mass, generating growth of musculature and skeletal tissue at a moment's notice to facilitate his growth. His maximum growth in every direction, should he simply try to enlarge his body, is seven cubic meters. As his size increases, as does his weight.

Power 2: Anatomy Alteration - Due to his shapeshifting, John can alter his internal organs in order to avoid a lethal blow, moving his heart or lungs out of the way of a piercing that would be otherwise fatal. He tends to do this unconsciously, triggered by flinching or adrenal response.

Power 3: Muscular Growth - In order to run faster or hit harder, John's body unconsciously strengthens and compacts muscles, making him very strong and fast when need be. Should he throw a punch, or run for his life, his body will change to produce the most favorable conditions. He can also simply "bulk up" to intimidate or rough up his adversaries.

Power 4: Advanced Proprioception - In order to keep track of limbs that he's grown, or unusual shapes his body takes, his brain is wired such that he can keep impeccable track of where every "part" of his body is, in order to reel it back in or utilize his body effectively. Were he to grow one hundred arms (however difficult and useless) he would be able to use each one to its fullest. This also has a nice perk of incredible balance in his regular human form.
