Another Way Empty Another Way

Post by Samify September 15th 2013, 8:35 pm

It was late and dark, Sam was usually on the rooftops at this time of the night, patrolling the streets to see if anyone needed his help, but after the failed attempt of becoming ageless, an attempt that the has been looking forward to for some time and with great enthusiasm, Sam was annoyed and didn't want to do anything now but walk his worries away. There had been little doubt in his mind that this attempt of making him ageless would not work, he had tried to stay positive no matter how ridiculous it sounded to him and the people he told, but it appeared all of that was for nothing, Princess Aurora seemed to have tried her hardest to make Sam's wish come true, but it was not enough because he was still a regular human being, a person who ages just like the majority of people that walked this Earth and Sam was so excited to be different from these people that he was actually sick of them now whenever he saw them because he was the same as them.

It was beginning to rain and Sam had his hood up, his signature red and black hoodie was covering his body and a thin black shirt and it was starting to get slightly damp, he was only looking in one direction, right at the floor in front of him, he looked slightly angry but his mind was angrier as thoughts constantly flowed through it. If he was even approached by a criminal, he was tempted to kill them outright, something that Sam had refrained himself from doing for years. Sam pulled into an alleyway and rested on the damp brick wall behind him, he slowly shook his head as he thought about the failure that had just fallen onto him, he pushed himself off and slowly walked to the other side, he stopped and kicked a trash can over in disgust before resting on the other wall, he tilted his head back onto the wall and closed his eyes, wishing that he could just have another chance.

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

Post by Arcana September 15th 2013, 8:54 pm

The night was dark, perhaps not as dark as the Titan liked but that was how it was when you lived in a city like Los Angeles. The light pollution would seem to blot out the stars and leave the sky a dome, without the many pinpricks that dotted it, perfectly dark. At the feet of the full Titan lay the body of his latest meal, the Nether rising from it like a fine mist, funneling into his mouth when he simply exhaled. If anyone was close, they could heart he sound of a thousand small voices sighing in unison, and all of them falling silent when he closed his mouth. The lips then formed a rather demented smirk and removed the blade of pure crystallized Nether from the corpse, as the blood would be flicked away from the blade, perhaps to keep it from tainting it. The body would arch, and then slump when he removed the blade.

No one would really recognize this corpse, even if a DNA analysis was run. His flesh had been destroyed and decayed by the Nether poison of The Blade of Corruption, and all they were was a small blackened corpse. Even their blood had turned thick and black, making it form the small black pool around the wound slower. ”Thank you for the meal.” He was of course being dark, twisted. He did not truly thank the human for giving what they should have given willingly, no, he only took what belonged to him. The woman should have been proud that she had fueled such a refined being such as Sean, a Titan. Sean would have walked away back into the night, but that was when he heard something, metal being battered and that caught the attention of the diminutive Titan.

It had begun to rain and he pulled the hood over his head, which hid most of the dark markings that crept along his face in a veil of shadows. He looked like a punk, with ratty blue jeans with ruined knees that showed his own pale knees, with the dark markings, his messy converse and the simple black hoodie that hid anything beneath it. Sean followed where he heard the strange noise come from, floating into the air effortlessly, landing on a rooftop over looking an alley way, and where what appeared to be a male standing. His curiosity was peaked, perhaps only because he wanted to see what was going on.

He caught sight of the trashcan, which had a large dent in it, perhaps one that no normal human could have hoped to make. So this was a metahuman? Sean descended into the alley, his feet making contact with the slowly wetting concrete, as he raised his voice to catch the male's attention. ”Its raining you know. Stay out here too long and you might...catch your death.” If anyone had their wits about them, they would feel the cold, menacing aura from Sean and perhaps perceive him as the threat he was.

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

Post by Samify September 15th 2013, 9:11 pm

Sam shot his eyes open and he looked to the right as he heard a voice, probably talking to him, he pushed himself off of the wall and he pulled his hands out of his pockets just in case this person attacked. Sam's eyes adapted to the darkness of the deep alleyway until he could make out some of the features of the person talking to him in a rather threatening manner. The man looked rather short compared to him, he had damp jeans with some tears, converse shoes and a black hoodie, he didn't exactly look very threatening, but when Sam laid eyes on him he felt considerably colder than what he had been, standing out in the rain at night was cold enough, but this person seemed to give him a whole new layer of chills, a part of him wanted to intimidate this man back, another part of him wanted to just walk away, but he went for a different option. "Death seems to have trouble finding me on a regular basis, I hardly think the rain is what's going to take me in the end." Sam was quite threatened by this man, but he also wanted to know why, he could have done his best to escape him by now, but he wanted to know more.

It was an obvious thing, that the male was taller than him, but height does not always equal power, and that was something that Sean knew very well. He exhaled, and with it came the dark Nether mist that so often mingled in with his breath, though perhaps that was just his body converting the oxygen into something that was more pleasant to him.”Are you so sure? The human body, while an amazing thing is also quite frail.” Sean didn't make a move, forward or backward, hell, not even the most minor of movements. His silver pools seemed to flash out from under the cover of his hood. ”As for death finding you. How are you sure death already hasn't found you? Death is a stranger, whose form is unknown to man until their final hour comes. It could be a kindly old woman, young child or even...a street punk. You never know how your death will take form, as death is a tricky thing, that is unless you're deathless.” His hands moved from his pockets and cross over his chest, arms buried within the thick seeming jacket, which was slowly getting wet from the cold rain. Something about this male interested him, his melancholy air, or was it anger that radiated within his Nether?

This man was talking in riddles and Sam was beginning to lose his patience with him, this man had not explained why he was here or why he was talking to him at this time of the night. There was one thing that he was interested in though, this man was so interested in death it seemed and he claimed to know something about being deathless by the way he said it, of course this could just be a crazy man patrolling the streets at night and spouting nonsense onto the first person that is willing to stop and chat.

This man's overall impression was quite scary though, he barely even moved, it seemed like he was just a spirit in the alleyway, he kept eye contact throughout as well, causing more chills down his spine. "Being deathless is easier said than done... believe me." He lifted the trash can that he had kicked over a minute or so ago, he placed his hand on the side and popped the dent back out before placing it where he found it, he was all for releasing his rage on something, but leaving it there was just plain rude. "What makes you such an expert in death then, if you don't mind me asking" Sam couldn't wait to hear an answer, it was surely going to be humorous and would probably reassure Sam's idea of this man being drunk or crazy.

”Being deathless is easier said than done?” It appeared that he was repeating the young male, but in fact he was simply musing over that statement, that such finite being was worried about something like that. What did he know about being deathless? A state where age, or any form of death would not touch him, and where he would truly be able to live forever, no matter the wretched state that he was placed into. Sean let his eyes wander, watching him lift the trash can and pop out the dent, one that had marred the already ugly trash can even more.

Most would have shrugged Sean off as a crazy person, perhaps too in love with their drink, and that was perhaps the case, minus the crazy part. Still, he was not intoxicated now, so that meant what he said was likely to be true or he would have been crazy. ”I know lot about death, perhaps more than anyone should. I know how to stave it away, how to quicken its happening and everything in between. You could say that I am death.” Sean removed his hood and let it fall over his shoulder, his face now made plain to the man before him.

His markings seemed to glow a deep red for a second, before returning to their dark black.

Again this man was talking in riddles, if the gentleman could just tell Sam why he was here and what he was talking about, the two of them would be far less wet from the rain and they could have been inside and drying off by now, but instead this man appeared to be dragging this encounter on, perhaps there was something he wanted.

Sam watched as the man pulled his black hood down to his shoulders, he was very pale and had black markings on and around his face, they seemed like regular tattoos to any first look, but then they began to glow red, parting themselves from the dark surroundings, Sam could soon see the shape of this man's head just by the markings that were glowing in front of him. This man clearly was not human and he clearly was not normal, Sam was torn between finding out what exactly he was and fighting this man who appeared to be harmful to others, but isn't that what other people think of him? Anyone with any kind of special powers can be harmful to others, even people without powers can be extremely dangerous, and Sam was starting to feel slightly annoyed by the divide between normal and meta-humans. Sam became intrigued by these markings that returned back to black, he wanted to touch them to see whether they were some kind of trick, but he assumed the man wouldn't let him get close enough for that to happen. "That's a nice trick you have there, so you are a meta-human then huh?" Sam asked, trying to get more information out of this man.

”Metahuman? No, I am not something like that.” he chuckled softly, perhaps even smirking widely. ”What I am is probably not well within human comprehension, but you seem like a smart boy.” he took a single step forward, perhaps bridging a small but seemingly immense distance. His eyes grew cold like steel, yet still held their luminescence, as if he were trying to thrall the young male, even if that were not the case. Sean simply wanted to see if he would be believed or if he was going to be laughed off, like some kind of lunatic.

”I am part of a race that predates this Earth we both stand on, perhaps even to the start of the universe itself. We took to calling ourselves Titan's long ago, perhaps to simply have a name for ourselves.” He pronounced Titan as Ti'taen, different than it was spelled and it sounded exotic.  ”I'm immortal. Immune to the wear and tear that the ages would bring to me.” He was very matter of fact about the statement, no real emotion seeping into the voice.

Post by Samify September 15th 2013, 10:34 pm

A year ago Sam would have laughed off what this man had said and called him some kind of a lunatic, but a lot had happened to him in the past year and he had met a lot of different people, some people claiming to look a certain age, but be much much older, just like this man had said a few seconds ago. The tone in his voice carried truth with his words and the strange eye contact made him even more sure that this man meant what he was saying, interesting to say the least.

"Immune to the wear and tear that the ages bring to you huh? Sounds like a sweet gig, I was supposed to be ageless like you too, but not all was as it seemed... I was looking forward to it so much, everyday I would wake up and think that today could be the today it would happen, and then it finally did happen, only to have my dreams dashed, now I'm forced to age like the rest of these people, I'm pretty angry to say the least, you're one of the lucky ones I guess." he said, Sam seemed to have shared some personal information with this man and after he had said it, he wasn't quite sure why. He felt quite jealous inside, here he was a man who was supposed to be ageless but wasn't, standing in front of a man who was, oh the irony.

Sean had a feeling that this human envied him, perhaps more than he was used to. Simply because he was immortal, because age would never touch him, or he was wanting of the same thing. ”You want to be immortal? Thats a simple enough thing to do, if you ask the right person. It so happens that I could do that....if you would be willing to make a contract.” he added the last part with a devious gleam within his eyes, perhaps as if he knew or had an idea that the human would bite at the idea like a dog for a steak. 'So what do you say? Unlike whatever botched attempt you've tried, i'm no amateur in matters like these.”

Well Sam would be lying if said he wasn't interested, it may be a lack of judgement because of how angry he was, but Sam was tempted to take this man up on his offer. Sam figured this man certainly knew what he was talking about and Sam was so hell bent on becoming immortal that at this point, he would do anything for it, the added "contract" part made him feel uneasy though, it sounded like he would be signing his whole life away, but again his judgement seemed to be clouded by anger and there was a chance he would make a wrong choice.

It felt like Sam had just been dumped by a girlfriend and he was ready to rebound on the first girl he saw, the circumstances where very different, but the premise was the same. Sam thought long and hard about it, this man seemed to know what he was doing, he sounded like he genuinely wanted to help Sam become immortal, why? Sam didn't know, and it seemed like this man has done it before, Sam just had one thing to say, he smiled and lowered his hood as he looked to the man and said "Where do I sign?"

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

Sean could tell that this human wanted, and he wanted it bad. Sure mortals all wanted immortality, but it was rare that one of his race would offer it so freely, and that was perhaps the best part of this for Smoke. Perhaps part of him was interested by the mortal, curious at what he truly expected to get out of him, and if he would really want it once the whole deal was laid out before him. Of course it would require that he deal with The Abyss, but then again Sean would let him find out for himself. Mortals always had the most interesting ways of dealing with new situations, and he would see how this one dealt with it. Sean let his lips curl into a pleased smirk, pale flesh seeming to only add to the dark yet pleasant appearance.

”I'm pleased you consider my offer.”While his race embodied death, they could also make themselves seem appealing when required, like death could be a beautiful thing in rare cases. Mortal beings made death out to be dark, and ugly, when it was far more beautiful than they could ever hope to imagine with their finite minds. How would this young man deal with the truths of death that Sean planned to force into him, ones that might even break him if he was not ready for them. ”Since you've agreed, I think I can begin upon that certain ritual.” Sean raised his sleeves to reveal arms covered in more markings, like black vines that snaked along his pale flesh.

'However, like any good contract written in dark magic, don't expect a pen.” The next few words he would speak in a Latin, perhaps one of the only human languages that his people considered worth learning, and one that Sean found interesting when his mother taught him it so long ago. ”Open, gateway to The Abyss and admit your rightful Sovereign.” In an instant what seemed like a black tear within reality appeared, letting out a small amount of black ooze, one that corrupted and blackened the ground that it touched. One could sense that the hole wanted to spread, and to consume all around it in a never ending decay and death.

It was large enough for both to walk through without a problem, if Smoke indeed chose to come along with him.”Now come along with me, through the darkness, into The Abyss. An immortal cannot be born in a world where so much dies around them.”

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

Post by Samify September 16th 2013, 2:11 pm

The man had lifted his sleeves and showed off more black markings that tainted his pale skin, they didn't exactly look visually appealing. He then began to recite some words in a language that Sam could not understand, he certainly did something though because a black rip in space opened up to the left of them, this was all probably a big mistake and Sam was probably going to regret it, but he wanted immortality so bad that he did not care how he got it. Black ooze slipped out of the tear and onto the floor, it made a hissing sound as the puddle expanded, almost reaching Sam's feet, it didn't look like something he wanted to touch.

The Abyss... sounded terrifying and it didn't look friendly either, but Sam was quite curious as to what was on the other side of the portal in front of him. He took a small step forward into the black goo and it did not harm him, he then stepped through with his other foot onto the other side. There was on significant difference, he had stepped from concrete onto grass, his whole body was now in this "Abyss" and there wasn't much to see, it was a plain as far as the eye could see, the sky was the blackest Sam had ever seen and the grass under his feet was not looking too good for itself. Sam felt very uneasy about this place, like there was some kind of aura resonating from it that Sam did not really like. Sam turned around to see the man walk into the portal after him, he looked like he had just walked into his home, "I'm Sam by the way" he said, he deemed it ok for introductions now.

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

Post by Arcana September 16th 2013, 2:26 pm

He could see that the human was uncomfortable, and that was alright, no mortal was expected to feel comfort when they stepped into his domain. He however felt at home, and it was made obvious on his expression, which drunk in the Nether that was so rich within the air. The fact that the male did not choke on the dark energy was a testament to his physical fortitude and something Sean took heavy note of. The skies were black as night, yet the dark orange orb within the sky still illuminated the place well enough, and at the same time the grass would still retain a sickly color, perhaps from the sheer amount of Nether alone. Grass crunched under his feet, but seemed only to lift itself up after his weight was removed from it, though it appeared slightly healthier after a brief amount of contact. As if Sean touching it had something about it, as if his contact were a welcome relief to a simple plant.

It was in The Abyss that the plants actually benefited from his touch, perhaps drinking up the dark energy that radiated from the Lord of All Titans. ”My name is Sean.” He said inclining his head, acknowledging the males introduction, giving him a cheeky grin, perhaps trying to seem charming in his own demented way. ”We are now in The Abyss as I said before, but more accurately this is the “Shadowlands.” This is a large field of bloodgrass that stretched for thousands of miles, but I put us on the out edge, maybe a few hundred meters from where we need to be.” He pointed in the direction they would be moving, which looked like it would be East. ”I do hope you're as fast as you are strong, I hate having to walk all the way there.” He would wait for an answer, which was satisfactory, and then Sean took a runner's position.

In an instant he was moving like a blur through the grass, moving at full speed and hoping that the male would be able to keep up with him. It only took him less than a minute, and he was somewhere else, within what looked like a dark, desecrated section of the place known as The Abyss. He looked upon a large yawning crack within the ground, which expelled noxious gases that would kill the normal human, but neither were normal in any definition of the word, no they were a metahuman and a Titan. This was the place known as The Soul Forge,a place that a normal soul could come to be branded, with the dark marks and to have their destiny forever changed, that is if they survived. Love, and all human emotions would need to be given up, all for the hope of immortality and a true deathlessness. Sean looked into the seemingly endless hole, waiting for Sam to arrive.

Another Way Empty Re: Another Way

So the mysterious figure who claimed to be able to give Sam his dream was called Sean, a seemingly regular name for a someone in such strange circumstances. Sam shuffled around the field and listened to the grass underneath him crackle, but they did not break, the blades simply retook their previous form. Sam heard Sean say that he hoped he was quick, he turned around to see Sean in a running position, he suddenly sped off into the distance, causing dust to fly up into Sam's face, he swung his hand in front of his face to stop any dust from entering his body, he then prepared himself and sprinted off in the same direction. He seemed to be the same speed as Sean, but due to Sean's head start, he clearer reached their destination first.

Sam halted to a stop as dust flew up in front of him, he looked around to see it looked like some kind of city or town, but it was also dark and destroyed and degraded, most buildings being just rubble. He turned to see a large crack in a while that was releasing a black gas, it seemed black was a trend in this place. "Well this is ehh... Nice." Sam said, trying to make light of the situation and not be freaked out by everything that was happening.
