This is how God Loses a Bet - Page 2 Empty Re: This is how God Loses a Bet

Post by Elena Vexus July 25th 2013, 8:44 pm

Vexus had a confident glow to her seeing that she was able to damage the five henchmen even if only temporarily. It appeared that a number of them were blessed with remarkable healing capabilities. Black fire began to burn over her hands as she started to move in to obliterate what was left of Marie's little family. The toxic cloud was approaching the group of three slowly and smirked knowing that would be their downfall. Making her way over to the regenerative being a great gust of wind blew over the park and rid the area of the poisonous cloud.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Vexus"

Hearing those words, in that voice. It was time for the Reaper to claim his prize. Vexus spun around to face Marie when her scanners caught sight of the item which she held in her hand. Zooming in a few times on this object there was a glowing orb of energy. Upon further analytical inspection her systems were not able to calculate the amount of power that had been condensed into a single point. It was a miniature Big Bang waiting to happen. It would annihilate everything with an absolute zero chance of survival. Something so immense in complexity that even Vexus feared the result of its use.
Without another thought, Vexus activated her Anti-Matter Glove. The artificial skin covering the defensive mechanism instantly evaporated and the shield roared to life. Not a moment later did Marie  unleash her weapon. Putting her arm up, Elena's Anti-Matter shield condensed to a wall in front of her just as the now condensed beam of unknown energy collided with her defense.
It was all happening much too quickly. The readings of her Glove's performance were flooding in and they were not positive. It was overloading. Whatever energies were in this beam, it was not something that could be efficiently countered by Anti-Matter. The shield began to fold in on itself and eventually collapsed inward bringing the beam in with it. There was nothing Vexus could have done to protect herself against this. She knew what overloading her Glove meant and there was no stopping it.

The combined explosions of the overloading Anti-Matter device and the blast Marie had fired was catastrophic having the potential to be seen from miles away. The shockwave could have shaken the entire state. The crater left behind took up almost the entire park, however the dent in the earth differed to others around the world. The ground had been blasted smooth. Completely flat. The combined efforts of the Magical blast and the most powerful Technology-based explosion removed the matter that had once filled in the crater from existence completely. The level of destruction went down to the subatomic level. The Laws of Nature would fail to explain what had just transpired here. Nothing could have possibly survived a blast of this level.
But that's what Nature says...
From the edge of the crater emerged a hand. It began to pull up the rest of a body, or at least what remained of a body. Who or what it had been could not be seen as the damage it had sustained was far beyond anything that could hope to be repaired. The humanoid form brought itself to its feet, or foot rather. There was only a right leg that remained and less than half of the left leg. As for the torso, all of the left side had been completely sheared off. A few wires hung here and there, but everything else had been destroyed. Some of the face shape could be made out. There was no hair, and not much covering the internal workings on the scalp. There was shape for a nose, one ear, eyes, and a jawline with an intact mouth. The right side was there, however the mechanical parts for the side and arms were heavily exposed. There was only one thing that seemed to have remained untouched in all of the carnage. A gauntlet of sorts that was on the remaining right hand. The destroyed robot brought the one hand up and looked at the gauntlet. What could be described as a smile formed on its face. Stumbling forward, it tried to keep its balance but fell to its knees using the one right arm for support. The images it saw through its eyes were blurred as its power-source was dwindling.

In the middle of it all. At Ground Zero for the second most impossible explosion the Universe has ever witnessed the goddess of technology, Elena Vexus, sat at its heart taking on the full power of the blast. It was tearing her apart atom by atom and in a matter of seconds there would be nothing left of her. Not even dust. She had been forced into its activation. Her experimental Void Gauntlet was the culprit of her survival. It must have transported her outside the current realm of existence into an empty dimension where she was safer. Judging by the amount of damage that she sustained it more than likely brought some of the explosion with her. There was no information to go by. Her systems were long gone. There were no sensors, no damage reports, nothing to tell her what had actually happened or the chances of it happening again.
Vexus was this impossibly damaged robotic being. Stripped to her most basic exterior she had fallen, and fallen very far. There was no hope for a full recovery. It was not even certain to her if she would be able to make it out of the park on her own energy. She could only hope that her distress signal had been launched at the time of her destruction and her clones would eventually make it to this location to help her reconstruction.
Elena tried to get back up again, but fell backwards. Looking at herself she tried to assess exactly how much damage she had taken. She still had full control of her right arm and leg, however her nano mites and her manufacturing system for them had been eradicated. Not even a little bit of the damage could be healed on site. Doing what she could, Elena slowly began pulling herself forward with her one arm aiming to find a location that may still be burning with her black flames. That way she could recruit what nano-mites still existed of hers to aid in her repair.

There was one thought that rang through her mind. One single idea that haunted her. Three words that would spell absolute demise for what remained of Elena Vexus...

Did Marie Survive...?

This is how God Loses a Bet - Page 2 Empty Re: This is how God Loses a Bet

The force of the mana was so great that even a nuclear blast would have been found wanting in comparison, yet at the same time it was strangely contained compared to its full potential. The robot had attempted to stop the attack but found that her protection was worthless, and the explosion rang out with such force that the very ground cracked. A shockwave followed the attack at such a magnitude that Marie even found it hard to stand up and fell to the ground in the face of the bright light that went through the illusionary barrier set up over the amusement parks skeleton. Her five lieutenants were mostly damaged beyond repair and she knew that they would have to be made new vessels, and souls once against fished out.

When the great flash had disappeared, all that remained was a damaged mechanical being that was once a beautiful deception, and around her the remains of her base. The outer wall of the park had been reduced to a cinder and a large crevice was the only thing there as well as some molten rock that glowed evily. Marie on the other hand found herself mostly unharmed, except for a small piece of glass shrapnel that had manage to cut a wide gash along her abdomen and spat blood quickly. The run on her back was hard at work, healing the wound but not the blood that was lost with it, and that alone was a fatal error within its design. Without that vital blood, she could already feel herself growing light headed.

All she needed to do was deliver one more decisive blow and that damned Vexus would be gone forever. Marie staggered forward, vision blurring and legs feeling weak. Had she lost more blood than expected? ”So it seems even that was not enough to kill you, perhaps I misjudged her.” Marie muttered to herself and uttered a single word. ”Key.” and what seemed like a small orb of smooth glass flew through one of the windows of the haunted house and into her hand, glowing darkly as if it knew its purpose. She introduced the key tot he weapon, strange opulate glass seeming to glow brighter as it shrunk to accommodate the small slots of the device.

Another blast would destroy her, just one more shot and this time the crimson witch would be sure of her victory. ”This ends now.” She unleashed a blast with the same amount of destructive capability, aiming to destroy her completely this time.

This is how God Loses a Bet - Page 2 Empty Re: This is how God Loses a Bet

Post by Elena Vexus July 25th 2013, 10:19 pm

Out of the corner of her blurred vision Vexus witnessed the impossible. Elena Marie was walking towards her. How? How could such fluid movement even be possible after such a catastrophic event? There was nothing left and the explosion defied the laws of physics and Marie still stood. She seemed damage, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. It wasn't fair. It simply was not fair.
Using the small amount of remaining energy, Vexus brought herself to an unbalanced standing position to try and confront this damned crimson witch. She muttered something that Elena couldn't make out and following said "Key" which caused a small orb of glass to automatically fly into her hand. This could only be another attack. Another item to assist in Vexus' permanent destruction no doubt. Not something Elena was going to take again, not that she could even if she wanted to.
"HAHAHAHAAA! Don't even bother! Do you even realize what has just transpired!? That explosion just reduced your precious base into nothing! Literally NOTHING! Not even dust remains! Everything has been decimated down to the sub-atomic level. What more proof do you need!? LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!! You... YOU, Elena Marie Thiels... You WILL perish at my hands. Ready yourself foolish Wench..."
The orb that had been summoned shrunk and entered one of the holes which had fired the last attack. Vexus brought up her hand and aimed the palm of her Void Gauntlet at Marie

"This ends now."
"This ends now."

Two different beams of unimaginable power were fired on a crash course with one another. Upon collision a small sphere formed and began growing in size and the two beams fed into it. When the two attacks ceased, the sphere was about the size of a wrecking ball. The events following undid all laws of reality.

Cracks began to appear in the sphere and as they did the space around it began to violently warp. More and more breaks appeared and a bright light shone through. Eventually the sphere lost its shape from the cracks and imploded. The Sound of this implosion was unlike anything Vexus had experienced. She could visibly see reality warping around her, and it was not comforting. What she had created was beyond her control now.

The accidental combined efforts of Elena Marie and Elena Vexus had caused a tear in the fabric of reality. This circular rip in the universe began to suck everything into it with little to no discretion as to what it destroyed. The Wind whipped around violently in an unnatural pattern with the combined low hum of the worm hole itself conjured weather and destruction on the apocalyptic level. Spiraling tornadoes touched town all around as the supernatural sound of the portal reverberated through creation tearing apart nature itself. The ground split and the sky morphed into a twisted shade of blood red. Bolts of unidentifiable energy shot from the void atomizing anything it struck creating more blemishes on the land.

A beam of this energy blasted outward and struck Vexus, though instead of being reduced at the atomic level her entire person began to glow and she hovered above the void. Looking down at the doomed Marie she gave a psychotic grin and pointed down with the sharp index finger of her Void Gauntlet.

"Now bare witness! Science has surpassed Magic! This is evolution! I have broken the boundaries of technology and I am no longer limited to the confines of this reality!! Sorcery is for the weak and desperate who beg for power, engineering and perseverance is the only true way to obtain a status above that of humanity. Our 'Almighty Creator' used to sit so high and mighty keeping confident that nothing could possibly touch him. Hahaha! Well guess what Marie! This is how God Loses a Bet!!"

Those were Elena Vexus' final words. The glow encasing her disappear and she fell to the ground. tendrils of pure energy extended from the void and latched onto Vexus. Remarkably, she was able to sever them with her Gauntlet, however what remained around her burned through reducing what they touched to ash. She pathetically attempted to scurry away, but was brought to a halt when one final tendril of burning energy coiled around her entire body.
Elena turned away from the vortex and towards Marie as her body was being disintegrated. She still struggled and fought against the inevitable. In her final seconds Vexus looked up at Marie and for an instant her robotic, cold eyes turned human. They were a rich blue and full of hopelessness. Vexus let go of the ground and reached out towards Marie as a single tear drop rolled down her face. The unforgiving void pulled the robot into the schism, permanently removing her from existence...

This is how God Loses a Bet - Page 2 Empty Re: This is how God Loses a Bet

Marie could feel it the moment that the two attacks clashed and it brought her blood to a boil, and sent a chill of primal fear through her body that caused her to shudder. The schism of magic and science was so great, that reality itself tore under its power and begun to rend itself asunder. From the center of a void, came a force that drew everything into it like a hungry mouth yet she knew it lead to nowhere; only oblivion. Vexus shouted something, even in this time of destruction she still saw it as a chance to try to make herself dominant over the sorceress.

They were her last words it seemed an tendrils of energy lashed out at her and slowly began to reduce her existence to ash, to reduce her to nothing. ”No, you misunderstand. Magic will always be ahead of science, that unknown variable you cannot touch and perhaps what keeps science going; pushing further. I suppose the two cannot even exist without the other.” The witch mused barely over the sound of the lightning destroying everything it touched, and broke apart the small barrier of light that had formed around her body. The process consuming Vexus was a rapid one and soon enough she would be fully consumed; gone. She should have felt proud, that another threat was dying before her eyes, but the only thing that she felt was disappointment.

It was the look in her eyes, within that final moment that only gave the Crimson Witch pity for her. This was the price for treading upon the domain of the gods, one that Marie would not make. Still, even with the bionic woman dead, there was a hole sucking in everything in it path and one that Marie would have to stop if that meant death. She had an idea that the strange ritual she performed would allow her to return, but that was a guess only. ”It seems i'm stuck cleaning your mess up afterall.” and then Marie began to muttering a language that was not of the plane and light seemed to radiate from both her and the keys stuck within the weapon.

Strange tattoos formed upon her skin and with it, more power flowed within her and the markings spread across her body at an alarming rate. The void seemed to recoil, to pulse as she only chanted faster and a pillar of light radiated from her body like its own power plant.

”You are blood of the Titan and with that power, you are a god unto yourself.”

”SEAL.” She shouted like thunder as what appeared to be archaic runes spread out in a spherical form surrounded the rift in reality and caused it only to decrease in size, and suction. Pain swept through her as more power was used up, vision growing dark and mucles growing weaker until finally she could no longer stand up, but it was obvious her spell had worked. Her eyes were so weak they could not even see.

”Elena!” She could hear Michael call for her his voice filled with concern that only sent a pang of sorrow through her. His arms wrapped around her and lifted the witch from the ground. ”You're gonna be okay, some of the healers are still alive and they can fix you up.”

”Michael....its too late for that.” She felt something warm and wet splash dully against her cheeks. Was he crying? ”I used all of my energy, and.... She coughed painfully, unaware of the blood that came with it. ”My life force as well to close that rift. I'm good as dead.” Blind fingers reached up for his cheek, and only found them moist.

”I already lost you once, and I won't let it happen again.” He was resolute, she could tell that from his voice without even needing to see it within his eyes. ”You're strong, I know you won't let something like this hold you down.”

”Strange....”

”What?”

”After all i've done since my rebirth...the people i've killed and those i've....harmed. That I would stop what would have been this worlds end. That I would die for a world that barely even knew I exist...like the person I used to be.” Life was slipping away like so many grains of sand between clenched fingers. Weak fingers grew slack and she felt herself slide into the void, a few tears slipping down her cheek, and the markings upon her skin glowing a deathly red as the rain fell.

The cold was the last sensation Elena Marie felt.

”So this is what death feels like. I should be used to it.” Her mind fell into darkness.
