The Legacy

Personality:
After two millennia of a forced existence on this Earth, one begins to change. At first you stop caring and become apathetic, then after a few more centuries you realize: nothing matters. You can do what you want, be who you want, and revel in the joys of unlife. Ambrose has long ago forsaken the shackles of morality, and instead lives as a bon vivant, enjoying life as it comes and goes.

He may be construed as evil by some, but to those in his inner circle of friends, he is known simply as a man who knows how to enjoy life. His way of enjoying life is through bloodshed, torture, and violence, although all of this is hidden beneath a serene façade that rarely breaks, although his willingness to commit atrocious acts at the drop of a hat hints at this darker side of his personality.

Ambrose found himself with a great love of art, and a curious sense of beauty, which has led him to be something of a trendsetter; he helped invent a few art styles in his lifetime. He is a highly social being, and just loves parties. He is also quite lustful, chasing after both men and women, although this has been severely toned down in these modern years.

In short, Ambrose just wants to paint the streets with blood.

History:
Seven BC was quite an interesting year. It was the year that Tiberius Nero was in power, it was only seven years away from the birth of Jesus, and it also happened to be the year that a young street rat by the name of Ambrosius would be born. A whore for a mother and a merchant for a father, Ambrosius was abandoned when he turned seven, and began his real life in the year zero.

As a street urchin living in Athens, Ambrosius made his way through life by stealing coin and food, eventually joining a small group of thieves who stuck together so as to survive. This behavior continued until Ambrosius entered his late twenties, when he was kidnapped right off the streets. Sold as a slave to some caravan leader, Ambrosius would find himself serving for years to come, until he turned thirty-two. The caravan he was with was ambushed, but not by a group of raiders, rather one man. This man killed everyone, decapitating them, ripping out their spines, finding the most brutal methods of execution possible. Then, when he looked at Ambrosius, his heart softened. He decided to give the slave a break. He gave Ambrosius a kiss, a bloody kiss. Their blood mixed, and within days, Ambrosius was dead, dead, yet so wonderfully alive, more alive than he had ever felt in his life. This was the beginning of a new era for the man.

Traveling with his master, Ambrosius saw many things, the great pyramids of Egypt, the temples of the Hebrew people, the mountains of Nepal; nothing was out of his reach. His newfound thirst for blood was easily sated with whores and urchins, a few of his victims survived, becoming vampires themselves, although he didn't trouble himself with those petty fools, he was a prince of the night, they were merely peasant folk. He could brave the sunlight and only get minor sunburns, the mark of a vampire whose strength knew no bounds, while they burned under intense light, becoming little more than ashes.

After a hundred years with his master, Ambrosius was preparing to sire his first legitimate child, when tragedy struck. The local people had discovered the vampiric nature of the two ethereally beautiful men who had been traveling through town, and took to the streets with rage. Most were squished with ease, becoming just another snack for the pair, although one man was different. He wielded great strength, and his arms burned with a righteous flame, and then thought to be a demigod, Ambrosius would later find that he was a metahuman. The man smeared Ambrosius's master across the ground, but met his demise when Ambrosius unleashed his hellhound. A few hours later and the entire village was decimated, nobody left alive, for Ambrosius had flown into a rage after seeing his master die. Now a powerful vampire in his own right, with the ability to become a demonic beast, he decided to go travel more by himself.

His journeys eventually took him to Europe, where he would find himself spending the next thousand years or so. Now entirely world weary for his old age, Ambrosius lived a life of excess and fripperies, trying to bring back that spark of joy he had once had. It just wasn't there anymore. The few he embraced into the night lived with him, although through their own folly, most of them died, and those who remained eventually left him. They left Ambrosius all alone in his big manor, with nothing to do. He decided to find something to do. That year, the valleys and forests of Eastern Europe ran red with rivers of blood, as the perpetually bored Ambrosius found solace in murder and warfare. Eventually, something inside his brain clicked, and he realized how meaningless it all was, and that one should just enjoy life, or in his case, unlife, as long as it would last.

Wrecking havoc across Europe, Ambrosius found himself delving deeper and deeper into dark secrets yet unknown to man. The time came when he became a powerful practitioner of blood magic, and was nigh on invincible, tackling the greatest of foes with ease.

As the Middle Ages slowly turned into the renaissance, Ambrosius, now calling himself Ambrose, moved to Italy, to experience the culture first hand. As a vampire in Italy, he had a great time, living life to the fullest, siring more and more vampires, and above all, having fun. One amusing occurrence in this time was an incident with a young painter who called himself Michelangelo. Was it that or Leonardo? Ambrose didn't really remember, but the man had requested that a great amount of red paint was needed for his latest masterpiece. Ambrose decided to provide this red paint. He provided it by going through town, collecting the homeless, then draining them dry. A few days later and a renaissance artist was painting with a big bucket of homeless people. It was refreshing to commit such heinous acts once again.

As the industrial revolution loomed, Ambrose found himself once again at the center of society, in Great Britain. It would be here that he would meet his temporary demise, due in part to his cockiness, and also in the ingenuity of a British vampire hunter.

He styled himself as Lord Ambrose, marrying into a noble family, and turning them into his coven. This group of vampires roamed free over the British Isles killing whom ever they pleased. But one day, they mysteriously began to disappear. One day, when it seemed that they had all gone, Ambrose decided to go on a hunt. He was snacking on a particularly fine wench when a shot was fired, a shot that pierced his heart. He looked down at the wound and laughed, expecting the tissue to repair itself in seconds. It didn't. The bullet had been made of silver, specifically the silver that was created when they melted down one of the crosses found in Manchester Cathedral. A few more shots and Ambrose fell into a comatose state. The vampire hunter buried him beneath the Earth, in a long forgotten crypt. The dead vampire would not roam the streets again.

Or so they thought.

Centuries later, in the year of 2028, a small group of coal miners dug into a crypt. One of them found Ambrose's coffin, opened it, and decided to take a few pictures. He thought it was just some sort of mummy, too bad for him that a falling rock would hit him in the head. It wasn't fatal, but enough to draw blood. And this blood dripped right onto Ambrose. The vampire regenerated his body within seconds, wiping out the small group of miners, dining on their blood that night.

When he willed his old abilities back, Ambrose found that he was still severely weakened. A few hundred years of torpor did that to a vampire. The only powers he had left were his superhuman body, his regeneration, and the ability to turn into a hellhound.

This was the only contact he would have with humanity for the next two years. Mysteriously, he collapsed back into his coffin, losing his strength yet again. The bullet was still in his body, and was unwilling to allow him the chance to roam the Earth again. His fate seemingly sealed, Ambrose slept and dreamt for the next two years.

He still slumbers beneath the crypt to this day, slowly falling into his final death, and he would surely cease to exist if someone does not come to awaken him.

Beneath London in the crypts, the beasts roam.
