Atypical Reunion

"Haha, well you read minds, what do you think I'm not telling you?"

"I was being a gentleman, but if you insist I may..."

"I insist, go on....."

Stephen began to read all her thoughts, emotions, and memories..."I see many terrible things...Yet I also see brightness...A light in you...But it is dim, it needs to be sparked...You seek a home, love, and comfort...Because in your past life you found none of this...While at war, or even on your homeworld you were empty...A shell of a person, following a cause that was brainwashed into your head at birth...Told that you must battle because your kind cannot be at peace...You live with a warrior race, when at heart you are not a warrior...Does that about sum things up?" Stephen said with a cocky smile.

Raine averted her eyes as Stephen spoke. The truth of his words did not surprise her, but it bothered her somewhat because it was in fact, a truth she had been denying herself for too long.
"You summed things up perfectly." Raine replied, and she leaned back and sighed.

"Well I am a mind reader..." He said with a chuckle.

Raine chuckled as well.
"True true. So, are you gonna let me rejoin GUN?"

"Depends...Unlike Pain I do not know your skills...Perhaps an entrance exam?"

"I suppose that's necessary, sure, I'll take it."

"I warn you, I am a very worthy adversary. Unlike Pain I do not have great strength...But I do have great power...You must survive for five minutes, like most exams...Are you ready?"

Raine nodded.
"I am."

"Begin..." Stephen opened up the battle with a blast of telekinesis.

As Raine began to rise up in the air, she quickly shot ice daggers at Stephen to break his concentration.

Stephen waved his hands downward, pushing the ice into the ground..."Ah the touch of cold..." He smiled as he teleported behind her and spoke softly into her ear..."The tough of energy..." He blasted towards her lower back.

Raine cried out as the energy pounded at her back. Damn... this guy is nothing like Pain, my powers wont do anything against him... She thought, and formed an ice bird to carry her off as she got over the pain in her back. Raine then formed three ice tigers to attack Stephen.

Stephen teleported to the top of the bird, being careful not to make his feet touch the bird's skin...He floated there as he smiled..."This might hurt..." He crossed his arms across his chest and quickly pulled them outwards, expelling energy in a circle around him.
