I've Always wanted to meet the Queen. (Closed to Pitch and a hero later on.)

Lucifer Hermes Mercury sat in his office of the Crime Syndicate’s mansion that resided in Chicago, Illinois looking over the heists that were being commenced that night and the ones that were to be committed come midnight or later. Only a few of them truly peaked his interest, as if anything truly peaked his interest anymore. After thirty odd years in the business nothing seemed to surprise the Phantom anymore, the World’s Greatest Thief had even thought of calling it quits sometime soon. But tonight would not be that night, no tonight he had found something to keep him going just a little bit longer. He had found a heist that he himself could truly enjoy and even perhaps meet someone who could work in his inner circle, someone else to know Number One wasn’t the brains behind the operation of the World’s largest crime society.

That man went by the name of Dissolution, or Pitch O’Dell if you wanted things to get technical. Aged Thirty-Two of superhuman origins and had recently made a name for himself. A man who could perhaps be a better figurehead for the Crime Syndicate than Number One, god rest his soul, ever could be. That is of course if he lived up to what the stories told of what he was capable of doing. The man should have received a letter that was delivered to him personally by a member of the Crime Syndicate and if he chose to read it said letter would tell him to arrive at the address of the Mansion at 8:45 on the night of tonight. Which was in just about two minutes of course and when he arrived he would be led up the stairs to Lucifer’s office where Number One, still posing as the leader of course would greet him and then closing the door behind him reveal his partner for the night. Which of course would be Lucifer himself.

The mission was a fairly interesting one and one that Phantom had actually completed a few times over if only for the laughs and to prove that it wasn’t as impossible as everyone claimed it to be. Number One, upon meeting Pitch at the door would slowly start to explain to the man what the Crime Syndicate was about and their interests in him, as well as that they had a job for him, and if the man agreed John would then of course explain the job to him as he opened the door to the office. The job of course was not only stealing the Crown Jewels but to steal the Queen’s crown. Pitch could do it anyway he pleased but he would have to work with the partner that was assigned to him. As John VonJohn got to the part about the partner Lucifer would step through the back entrance of the office and give a bow to the two men.

“I am sorry that I have arrived late to the meeting Number One, I do hope it is of no trouble to either of you.” Phantom said to the two men standing before him. Standing back up he straightened the top hat back onto his head and then walked over Pitch holding his hand out to be shaken. “Name is Lucifer Hermes Mercury, your partner for the evening it seems, but please call me whatever it is you desire except for Lucy.” A smile was plastered on his lips but his eyes simply read if you mess with me it will be the last you shall ever do. John once more taking over nodded his head, “So, you have both heard the mission, the plane will arrive out back to taxi you out of the states and into London in ten minutes I believe it would be best if you get acquainted with one another, collect anything you might need and head out.” He said himself before returning to the main room to issue the other heists.

Pitch O'Dell offers his gloved hand and proceeds to shake hands with Lucifer.

"Pitch O'Dell. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Some time earlier...

Dissolution. That was what the media had begun to call him. Perhaps he's attracted a bit much in the ways of attention over the course of the last several months, but with so much happening in the world as we know today, his was just another drop in the cesspool of current pop culture. His was a comfortable way of life. His face was not so much recognized that he couldn't eat out somewhere nice if he felt like it. Yet a certain amount of perverse satisfaction did strike when news of his little jaunts made the news. It's the little things in life that satisfy, after all. So imagine his surprise when a letter came for him at the current address he was residing at. This told him he was being watched. He hadn't received postage in years. In it were simple directions and a time in which to meet. What did they say about curiosity?

Indeed, Pitch was there right on time. He'd meet that man named Number One. He'd be told about the syndicate. He'd be told about...the crown jewels? A smile couldn't help but play across his face. It was something almost out of a Saturday morning cartoon. A pair of crooks would team up to steal the Queen's personal stash of pretty rocks and gold. Sounded like a frightening hilarious...and fantastic time.

"I've always wanted to meet the Queen."

Then top hat walked in. It was a very dapper top hat. Pitch O'Dell offers his gloved hand and proceeds to shake hands with Lucifer.

"Pitch O'Dell. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Were you randomly brought in on this caper as well?"

“Randomly brought in, yes you could say that, it seems we both caught the eye of Number One and the Crime Syndicate.” Lucifer said with a smile on his face, moving his cane from his side back to his front before turning to walk out of the room. “I too have always wanted to meet the Queen; perhaps tonight will be our chance to do so. I do hope though that we do not end up having to meet her guard.”It was a quick walk from the office through the great hall and out to the front where the plane was waiting for the two of them. Lucifer’s items, meaning his umbrella, were already on the plane in case he had any need of it. ”Have you ever been to England? I hear it is breath taking this time of year… and that the Crown Jewels just sparkle in the moonlight.” He added with a grin sitting down in a seat on the plane taking a sip of the wine that was provided to them.

The plane ride went smoothly, a conversation between the two here and there to get to know each other better, what they were good at and what their abilities were. Phantom of course left out the fact that he had the innate ability to be forgotten by the people because he hoped that ability would not be needed during this heist. But, invisibility and intangibility would certainly come in handy when dealing with any sort of theft. It wasn’t long of course before the plane touched down across the pond, it was a surprise what modern science and money could do in a short span of twenty eight years and how far airplanes had come sense that fateful day when the trade center went down in flames. As the plane touched down Lucifer stood up and walked towards the door which he then of course opened for Mr. O’Dell. “After you, the jewels are waiting.”

“Sight seeing certainly sounds like a wonderful idea Mr. O’Dell, would you mind leading the way?” He asked with a smile upon his face. This would certainly be an interesting heist, and as he was only there to watch Pitch in action it would certainly be best for him to sit back and allow the younger man to take charge, watch what he was capable of doing and see firsthand if all the hype the man was given lived up to the legend. He himself did not change appearance as it would not matter what he was or was not wearing, nothing would remember what he looked like or who he was in a few short hours anyway except for Mr. O’Dell of course. It was all part of the plan.

Upon entering the London Tower a low whistle escaped the lips of Lucifer as he paid for both the tickets with his own cash. The tower was magnificent and the tour guide’s outfit was certainly interesting, the black and red although complementing each other very well did not go together with that atrocious hat. A laugh escaped Phantom’s lips as a thought ran through his mind, when he finally decided he had enough money he was going to buy the Tower of London if only because it looked, and was, like a medieval castle. “So, where should we begin? I hear the food court has amazing…what are they called croissants?” He asked with a laugh, he knew what croissants were of course and he himself was from London originally but had not been there for quite some time…sense the age of four or five of course.

The Tower of London. Historic monument...tourist death trap. Everything was about four times as expensive as it was outside. You could buy a nice dinner and dessert for the amount of a bread pudding in this place. Food court may have to be avoided. Pitch led Lucifer around doing all the things normal tourists do. Take a picture with one of those stoic guards while trying to make him smile, taking that new Facebook picture near the royal armor and, most importantly, getting in line for the conveyor belt tour of the famous Crown Jewels. Fortunately, they also display the Queen's Crown in the same exhibit. Apparently the British are extremely confident in their security. And with good reason. Though a tourist trap, the amount of security in here rivaled that of Fort Knox. There was going to be no theft by conventional means here.

As they were conveyed past the display, Pitch lifted his smart phone and took that cheesy "Hey we were here!" shot with him and Lucifer, along with dozens and dozens of other tourists in their group. Then he'd whisper low so only his partner could hear.

"...We're going to take these Jewels out from under their noses. Literally."

Lucifer would see Pitch round the corner right after the Crown Jewels tour, winding his way to the men's room right before the food court. He'd wait until the room had been more or less vacated before taking his gloves off. Crime wasn't pretty sometimes. Evident by Pitch walking into the men's stall and placing his hands upon the floor. Within a matter of moments, the ground beneath him rotted away. Pitch began to carve his own little tunnel.

"Now we know where the Jewel displays sit when we're under them. After they fall, we're going to take an underground stroll back to our plane. Hope you weren't planning on seeing the sights or anything."

( Unless you actually wanted to visit the Queen. Because they DO keep her Crown in the same exhibit XD )

“Yes, we most certainly are…” Lucifer said with a sly smile as the picture was taken. The fools wouldn’t even know what had hit them until after Phantom wanted them to know what had happened. Which would perhaps be never, the guards would certainly find the jewels and crown missing the next time they made their rounds but they would never know how exactly the Jewels and Crown were taken in the first place. This all went through his mind as they followed the tour group before rounding the corner and heading into the men’s bathroom. He walked behind Pitch, cane lightly tapping on the ground with each step he made only stopping a few paces behind the man to watch his work.

Here he stood watching the man’s powers in action stifling a laugh at the sentence that was spoken out. “No, I most certainly do not have anything against not seeing the sights of London, but perhaps instead of making the Jewels and Crown fall into your hole, chancing them breaking, why don’t you simply get the tunnel close enough underneath them. I myself will walk out of her invisible, grab the items through the glass its self then phase down into the tunnel and we can be off like so?” He replied nodding his hat in the man’s direction before walking out of the men’s bathroom. Once on the outside he looked to his right and then looked to his left and then looked to his right before turning invisible. From here on out things would go very smoothly if he had any say about it, he was the World’s Greatest Thief for a reason.

A smile came to his invisible face as he continued walking down from the men’s bathroom and over to the Jewel’s and Crown’s case. Luckily for him he had timed it perfectly, the Guards were switching and this of course meant that there were going to be no tours going on in this section of the Tower at this moment. Reaching out with an invisible hand it slipped through the glass and deposited the Jewels into his trusty bag along with the Crown. Turning around he winked at the Guards, even though they couldn’t see him, and slipped through the ground hopefully right into the tunnel created by Pitch O’Dell where he would turn visible. “Let’s go we have about thirty seconds before they realize what has happened my friend.”
