Dana has some masculine features to her face, her body is somewhat broadly built, and her muscles are lightly toned. She has thin eyebrows and her jet black hair is in a short pixie cut.


While undeniably gifted with far above average intelligence, Dana is easily frustrated with failure. She can be cynical and stand-offish, but she has a good heart and does her best to keep those she cares about out of harm's way. Her loud, abrasive, abstract taste in music and art contrasts with her generally introverted, "in the shadows" type of personality, but she has no problem being more outspoken sometimes- so long as she stays anonymous.


Dana was born as a male in Cleveland, Ohio on May 12th to a Canadian-American couple. She had a relatively normal upbringing, aside from the general problems that come with growing up as a transgender teenager. Things were fine until her mother passed away from a terminal illness when Dana was only 12 years old, leaving her only with memories of her mother and grief that would last for years. Throughout her high school years, she suffered from dysphoria, depression, and anxiety. At the age of 15, she came out as transgender to her father, who was not particularly supportive, being more of a conservative man. Frustrated with the lack of progress on her gender transition, Dana decided to take matters into her own hands and transition without the assistance of family or medical professionals.
After beginning her transition, she became fascinated with the way hormones affected her body, and delved deeper and deeper into how it all worked. This led to her obsession with bio-chemistry, bio-engineering, and general human biology. She started studying in more extracurricular scientific programs at school, and thanks to her extraordinary intelligence, she graduated a year early at the top of her class and began studying at the California Institute of Technology at the age of 17, thanks to some scholarships.
Dana was determined to find a way to cure the degenerative neural disease that killed her mother, so she began researching how the nervous system works and how to improve it to combat diseases like the one her mother had. Due to her age and inexperience no one took her seriously, so once again she took things into her own hands. She started experimenting on her own nervous system, finding ways to strengthen it beyond human limits. One night, she took the experimenting too far, causing her to become lightheaded and faint. When she came to, all the lights in the room faded and there wasn't a sound to be heard. Alarmed, she began panicking and the lights and sound came back, as if by miracle.
After analyzing her nervous system, she realized exactly what had happened. She could control not only the signals in nerves, but the light and sound signals around her as well. After months and months of training her newfound powers, she dropped out of university and adopted the hero name "Rave", named after the chaotic lights and sounds of a rave show. She no longer had the funding or technology from her university to continue curing her late mother's disease. Dana Picard will still save lives, her way.


Light Manipulation: Rave can bend the frequency of light waves within a 30 foot radius, meaning she can bend visible light to anything from invisible (to the human eye) radio waves all the way to poisonous gamma waves. At close range, she has far more precision and can even block light from entering someone's eyes for as long as she is in range.
Sound Manipulation: Rave can increase or decrease the energy of sound waves within a 30 foot radius. This allows her to make herself completely silent, or to cause a sonic or shockwave. The vibration behind her sound waves can add the force of a sonic boom to her punches and kicks. However she usually doesn't use her full power out of fear of killing someone.
Enhanced Strength, Speed, and Reflexes: Rave's increased nervous system performance means her body is able to run at full human capacity, giving her peak human strength, speed, agility, and reflexes.


Water: Water and other fluids will, for lack of a better word, dampen her ability to bend light and sound. She cannot control light or sound when surrounded by or submerged in water.
Electricity: More of a weakness of her suit. When her AV suit is powered down or overloaded with electricity, she cannot use her specific beams of light  or sound and must rely on the light and sound surrounding her.
Stamina Limit: Multitasking and overexertion (trying to manipulate an entire room of light and sound for more than half an hour, or something of equal proportion) can lead to Dana passing out and needing to rest for a few hours, or if done too much, a full shutdown of the nervous system leading to a coma that could last weeks or even months.
Reflective Surfaces: Reflective surfaces cause light to bounce off of them, which can be useful in some situations, but it generally becomes significantly harder for Dana to keep track of where the light is coming and going, so it's harder for her to maintain control over it without putting large amounts of stamina into it.
Personality: She has a tendency to be rash and hotheaded, charging into situations head on against her better judgement. She is also somewhat stubborn, making sure she gets her way, and that people get what they deserve.


AV Suit: The "AV Suit", or Audio-Visual Suit is a creation of Dana's own design. It features pads of light all over the suit, allowing for the light to be bent into radio waves, rendering Rave invisible. It also has small flashlights attached to the wrists like watches, which can send out beams of light that Rave for more control, and by extension power and potency. The speakers built into the suit's palms work in a similar fashion, creating sound for more direct control by Rave. The speakers allow for sonic booms and are play a frequency high enough that humans can't hear it, but Rave can still bend the sound's energy.

"All units, we have a mugging on East Avenue. Please report to the scene as soon as possible."
"Being able to tune into the cops' radios is turning out to be more useful than I thought," Dana thought to herself. "East Avenue is only a couple blocks away, I can totally make it before the cops do."
Standing on top of a 3 story building, Dana pulled up her makeshift mask and strapped on her reflective goggles, ready for a night of action in downtown Pasadena, California. She ran towards the edge of the roof and leapt down to the wall of the next building over, sliding down until she jumped from the wall and safely landed on the cement ground of the alley. She powered on her suit , engulfing herself in light before bending it to become nothing but radio waves. She ran towards the East Avenue alley, masking each of her footsteps in silence.
She arrived at the scene of the crime to discover 3 low class thugs surrounding a beaten, defenseless man laying prone on the ground. One of the thugs is holding the defenseless man at gunpoint.
"You know, I was wondering how you guys would feel about a three-way after we're done here," Dana said, directing the sound waves of her voice to one thug's ears.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" the thug exclaimed. There was a moment of silence as the three others present stared at him.
"What're you talking about, man?" another thug asked, "We're kinda in the middle of something."
"But you just said...God, there's something messing with my head, I swear to God, man."
Dana let the radio waves surrounding her become visible again, revealing herself to the thugs. "I gotta say, man, that was good- not the best reaction I've seen but still pretty good."
"Jesus, where the hell did she come from?! Shoot her, Pete!"  a thug shouted.
"Aw, come on now, don't spoil the fun," Dana cooed playfully as she became invisible again. The thug fired into the darkness, terrified and unaware that Dana was walking around behind him. She plucked the gun from his hands and knocked him over the head with it, knocking him unconscious. The other thugs terrified, and not knowing what to do, ran for their lives screaming. Dana revealed herself once again and kneeled down to talk to the victim of the mugging.
"Hey, you alright?" she asked.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine, but... who the hell are you?" the man asked, still trembling.
Dana smiled under her mask and said, "Call me Rave."
