Opposites Attract (Closed To Kid Max)

Ace was walking through the city on patrol duty, it wasn't the most glamorous of jobs nor was it the most exciting but it made a nice change from recruiting new members. The sun was beating down today, a usual thing recently but it meant a change in Ace's attire. He was wearing dark blue denim jeans and a plain orange t-shirt, he'd also picked up a pair of cheap pair of orange sunglasses so he was wearing those too, he didn't exactly fit in but he looked human. Ace would usually be all superhero when on duty but the recent attacks had caused a scare and the sentinels were told make things slightly more discrete, as not to scare the residents. Ace would feel like he was at home, if he didn't have an alien next to him.

Granted the alien was human in form, if you looked at him you'd see a 16 year old boy, blonde, looks like he could lift a truck but other that that he's normal. But if you know him you know he's not human and could actually lift a truck. Ace had limited knowledge on the subject but from what Ace had learnt, he knew he had crash landed on earth, his companion dead. He's the only one of his kind on the planet, at-least that he knows of. Ace spoke to Max as he walked "I guess not much is happening today" Ace said "We only have to stop by the prison before we can head back" Ace went quite for a second before having an idea "Say Max you haven't been here for a long time have you? How about on the way to the prison i teach you about Earth customs?"

Max had the biggest look of confusion on his face. People just kept staring at him, some even pointing and laughing! Maybe it was cause they recoginized him from being part of the Sentinels and seeing him in what SIm called "civilans" was funny. Honestly Max felt embarassed. Why couldn't he wear his ROYAL Khelnarian dress?

Max was so busy noticing other people looks when he realized that his partner was talking to him. Why did he need a partner anyways? Max was easily the most physically powerful member on the team and has proven more then capable enough to handle fights on his own. Maybe his leadership felt that it was in best interest to keep someone human with him at all times. Earth, Max easily admitted, was sometimes a confusing and frustrating place. He turned his head to engage his partner.

His partner was Ace, a boy who was two years his younger in earth years. Ace was almost a full foot shorter then Max and the Khelnarian probably had sixtey earth pounds on the human. His dark brown hair and eyes were a strong contrast to Max's Blonde and blue. The boy seemed no physical threat, but Max had seen in his partner's training sessions that he controlled powerful electrical attacks that Max even felt.

"What am I doing that makes it seem that I need help with the customs?" Max asked. He stopped and looked down to examine himself. He didn't have the usual PR team to help him dress today, but he figured he did a good enough job on his own. He wore rainbow tye-dyed shoes with gold socks pulled to his knees, bright blue striped shirt and with a lime green plad button up shirt with the sleeves cut off. To top it off, he had a trucker hat to cover his Blonde hair and a back pack holding his hero outfit just in case.

Ace turned around and walked backwards, he almost tripped. He'd seen max's outfit a couple of times now, yet every time he looked at it he couldn't help but cringe, the outfit Max had chosen looked like an op-shop had vomited all over him, Not one bit of clothing was fashionable, at least it sure looked that way. Ace looked at Max "The first clue is your clothes, Notice how i look normal?" Ace asked before speaking again "Actually don't answer that, normal is relative. Your dressed quite flamboyantly for Earth, not sure how it would fare on your planet though" Ace looked around "Secondly, your quite distant, People usually socialise" Ace stopped ranting and turned around " When we get up the road to the prison you can change into your costume, i doubt anyone in the prison will mind"

Ace looked around, this covert thing was going so well, people were point and laughing. If only they knew, credit where credit was due, Max was one of the sole reasons these people were alive, no matter how clueless he was in fashion. Ace wouldn't want to be on his bad side, Even though he could probably keep him at bay, one punch and he would probably break something and then something else and so on.

They passed a cafe and there stood a little boy, too young to be shook up by the recent events "Look mommy" the little boy said, tugging on his mothers leg "Its the superheroes!" The boy approached the teens, sharpie and piece of paper in hand. Ace smiled, of all the things you have to deal with being a superhero these are the things that make up for it, Ace signed the paper and gave it back to the boy, the boy gave the paper and sharpie to Max.

Max rose an eyebrow as he reexamined his clothes. Noticeably no one else was dressed like him, when of course brought attention to him. However Max couldn't help but smile when Ace threw in the comment about it not even being fashionable on Khelnar. Now The Warrior Prince was surprised that he was smiling. Usually he didn't get Earth humor...

"I am speaking with you now, doesn't that mean I am socializing?" Max asked as he resummed walking to keep up with Ace. Walking felt... weird. As a Royal Khelnarian, Max usually flew everywhere and it was custom for higher ranking persons to float above others. At the quick pace they passed stores and more people staring at the two. Ace may fit in well, but someone... what did Sean say to Max once... the size of a brick shit house and obviously no clue to earth fashion, Max stuck out like a sore thumb.

They stuck out so much that even a small child recognized them. The boy pulled on his mother and she produced paper and some kind of marking device. The boy gave it to Ace, who wrote on it and then it got handed off to Max. Luckily the PR teams that have been making Max go around and do press confernces and be the "Face" of the Sentinels, Max knew what an autograph was. Max even learned that humans liked it when he wrote his name in native Khelnarian.

Max did so and handed the paper off to the child. When they got the chance to walk away, Max asked the young man next to him, "Ace, why do humans put so much obession with.... what is it called... celebraty status? Is that like royal status?"

Max wrote his name on the piece of paper, Ace was surprised that he didn't crush the pen at first then he realised all the PR stuff Max was doing he'd obviously learnt how to write an autograph. Max asked a question Ace almost didn't know how to answer "Well, i guess its similar to royal status in the fact that people look up to you and your well respected, well usually you are, but its also similar in the fact that if it was taken away they'd just be normal People- or Khelnarians for that matter, and for why we obsess over them, its probably because they're something we aren't, something different" Ace lost his train of thought, "Ok now its my turn to ask questions" Questions buzzed around in Aces head like a disturbed hornets nest *I could ask him what Khelnar was like maybe ask him about new technologies there, or how he could fly* Ace would never admit it but he was in awe of things that could fly and wished he could do it. in the end Ace settled with a question which would unveil slightly more about Max , and how he thinks, but not touch as many nerves as mentioning home "Ok i have a question, What did you think about the sentinels when you first met us, as in what thoughts were going through your head?" Ace asked with genuine interest.

Ace knew what he thought when he first met the sentinels, he wanted to Compare a 14 year old human to a 16 year old Khelnarians, they were most probably very different but Ace wanted to see what Max's answer were.
