NPC Hero: Sierra Greyson, aka Red Empty NPC Hero: Sierra Greyson, aka Red

Post by Cheshire December 6th 2011, 12:48 am

Real Name: Sierra Greyson
Super Hero Name: Red
Title: Lil Red, Lil Sis, Lil Witch, ‘that bitch’.
Alignment: NPC Hero, Chaotic Neutral.
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human, witch
Hair: Originally blonde, dyed red.
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 120 lbs

Costume Description: Plain jeans, hiking boots, a white turtleneck shirt, and a long, bright red raincoat with a hood.

Personality: A sweet girl who has trouble with things like simple obedience. She has an insatiable curiousity and spends most of her time exploring or reading. She’s always loved the outdoors, which is why she chose to practice the magic of controlling plants. She’s also very fond of her brother, despite expressing exasperation and annoying towards him most of the time, and can even be protective of him, wanting to defend him against enemies he can’t fight—like the police. She’s obsessed with finding a cure for him because she feels guilty he got bit and so badly wounded trying to protect her. It is for that same reason that she learned to control plants, so that she could defend herself, and he wouldn’t have to get hurt trying to protect her again.

History: Sierra grew up in a very average family made up of herself, her older brother Sam, and their mother (a doctor) and father (a cop). Sierra never had a dream-job she wanted, unlike her brother; her tastes were as fickle as the wind. One month, she wanted to be a dancer, the next, a pediatrician. The only thing that stayed constant was her love of the outdoors and the way her head stayed in the clouds, never seeming to touch ground.

When she was sixteen, her family went on their annual camping trip to the mountains, a trip which Sierra usually spent all year talking about and looking forward to. They arrived at the site late in the afternoon, and while their parents were setting up the tents and campfire, Sierra went off to explore the nearby hiking trail, her brother following to keep an eye on her. After her boundless curiousity got them lost for a couple of hours, they finally managed to find their way back to camp some time after dark, and that was when they discovered their parents’ corpses, being devoured by a monstrous wolf.

The beast didn’t hesitate to attack them, and Sierra immediately found herself knocked out of the way by her brother, who took the brunt of the wolf’s attack to try and protect her. While he struggled to keep the monster wolf from tearing his throat out, Sierra grabbed the nearest weapon—a decorative silver knife that belonged to their mother, a family heirloom—and stabbed the wolf in the back with it. It swiped at her and knocked her sprawling, before fleeing. With Sam passed out from bloodloss, his arms and chest mangled beyond recognition, Sierra managed to find their dad’s radio and call for help.

Amazingly, Sam woke up again just a day later, his injuries, which should have required an amputation at the very least, having miraculously healed almost overnight. The doctors concluded that the injuries had only looked worse than they were, and that after one more day in the hospital for observation, he’d be released to be placed in a foster-home along with Sierra. After they both vehemently insisted that they both stay together, the CPS finally managed to locate a foster home that would take two kids in one go. It was unfortunately the kind of home that should never have been allowed to take in children in the first place.

The father was a drunk, the mother a cold, sharp-tongued woman with no patience or tolerance for disobedience or mistakes. Sierra, with her naturally willful personality, quickly butted heads with the woman, and Sam was never far behind in joining in the arguments, always defensive and protective of his sister. Somehow, they managed to get through about a month with them by spending as much time outside the house as they possibly could, and they didn’t want to report them to the authorities lest they wind up being separated in order to find new homes.

Then the next full moon came. Sierra began to get worried about Sam in the days leading up to it, as he grew restless and agitated. The day of the full moon, Sam got into an explosive argument with the fosters while Sierra was outside the house; when she returned that evening just as it was getting dark, their foster-mother was ready and waiting for someone to vent her spleen on.

Their foster-mom started shouting at Sierra, and when Sierra argued back, grabbed her arm, took one of her wooden cooking implements, and started beating her with it. Their foster-father came in, solely for the purpose of enjoying the spectacle, and it was around that time that Sierra heard the crash that was Sam breaking the door in, and all hell broke loose.

Their foster-father yelled and swung at Sam, and Sam ducked the punch, before punching him back—so hard, the man quite literally went flying to crash into his couch. Then he turned on the foster-mother, and Sierra was terrified by what she saw; his eyes had turned yellow, and his mouth was full of fangs.

Sam leapt at their foster-mother, and, half-way transformed, tore her open with his teeth and claws.

Their foster-father, not understanding what was going on, went for his gun and unloaded it into Sam. Sam was hardly even fazed by it, and, by then fully-transformed, only seemed to be pissed off further, as he then went for their foster-dad, tearing him apart the same way he’d slain the woman. Then it was over, with Sierra left huddling against the wall, terrified as she stared around her at the house covered in blood and gore, and her brother, the monster.

When Sam turned to face Sierra, she wanted to scream, but couldn’t. And that’s when she realized, he no longer looked hateful and crazed like he had when he’d attacked the foster parents. He whined, like a dog that had been kicked, then turned and ran past her and out onto the street, disappearing into the night.

Sierra managed to get up and call 9-1-1; then, she found her mother’s silver knife, one of the only things they’d kept after their parents died, and went to try and go after Sam.

She didn’t find him until the next morning, stumbling through the woods and making his way back towards home, covered in blood, his clothes reduced to rags. Sierra made sure he was okay, then when she realized he had no memory of anything past seeing their foster-mother attacking her, reluctantly told him what he’d done in as little detail as possible. They knew, completely and without certainty by that point, that he was a werewolf—that the thing that had killed their parents was a werewolf, and that this could be happening every single month from now until whenever he finally died. Sam wanted to leave, or to turn himself in, but Sierra became horribly upset by that—what if she wound up in another foster home like that one? Who would protect her then? More importantly, she couldn’t bear to lose her brother, too, not after they’d already lost both their parents hardly a month ago.

So they went on the run together, Sam learning slowly to control his powers while Sierra started researching everything about werewolves, convinced there had to be a cure somewhere that would make him fully human again.

Over the past year, Sierra has dabbled in potion-making and learned to use magic. While she’s studied a wide variety of magic in her quest to find a cure for her brother, the only magic she’s actually learned to use is the power to control plants, and a few spells for breaking various curses, including an unusual one for breaking a curse of falling fish, which turned out to be quite useful during a very odd couple of days that she prefers to forget ever happened. She worries about her brother when he gets bored and decides to look for excitement by busting bag guys, but she tries to think optimistically, and can’t deny the fact that she’s proud of him for having found something to keep him happy. Most of the time, she goes with him, to act as his voice and to play the role of his ‘master’.

Powers:
  • Nature Magic: The use of magic to control plants. She can cause vines and briars and even large trees to grow anywhere where there is soil, with enough force to break up through sidewalks or asphalt. She can use them to entangle and trap her enemies, though more powerful enemies will usually only be temporarily slowed by the greenery; she can also use them for practical purposes, such as reaching a high ledge.
  • Healing Magic: Basically has the effect of giving an injured person temporary regenerative powers, equivalent to someone with level 4 regeneration. This will work on top of any natural regeneration they have to boost their healing even further, but she cannot heal someone if she or the person she is trying to healing is under attack, due to the concentration this power requires.

Power Grid:
NPC Hero: Sierra Greyson, aka Red Sierragreystone

Power Grid colours: Red

Character Description: A young lady with a pretty, heart-shaped face and wide, innocent-looking hazel eyes. Photos of her from about a year ago show her having long, straight blonde hair, but nowadays it’s dyed a vivid red that only barely qualifies as natural-looking. She wears it in ringlets, tied together at the back of her head, but for the ones framing her face. Her features are soft, but stubborn; her skin is tanned from how much time she spends outdoors, and while a bit on the small side, she’s fit and athletic.
