The abrupt shift of power(open)

The Chavelle manor was abuzz with activity. Music playing. Dining hall filled with tables upon tables of suculent food. Pretty much any cuisine you could imagine was there. If it wasn't all you had to do was ask ,and it would be prepared. Without any time wasted. The cooks were on full alert this night. though that was not the only reason people were here tonight. It was a huge production for the family. An affair they took very seriously. Each year they held two grand parties. One for the birthday for their eldest daughter Elecia Chavelle. The other was the celebration of the birthday of their eldest son Aaron Chavelle. This occasion was the former. It was Elecia's twenty second birthday. Though she was past the age a succsessor could be chosen. In fact her father had held onto the position of head of the family longer than supposedly allowed. Which of course didn't sit well with her. She openly showed her displeasure on many occasion. though nothing was thought of it.

The main members of the family were scattered over the hall. Which was impressive in size. Aaron sat at one table. Surrounded by his multiple friends. Which were mostly girls. Since guys didn't choose to socialize with him much. Also Kander had chosen to do whatever it is Jinn do. So he was stuck with his babbling friends. Though his only male friend decided to sit abnormally close to him. Which he payed no mind to. As he ate gingerly on a large piece of cheesecake. He had dressed for the occasion. Wearing a stylish two peice suit. Brown hair still swept to the side. Eyes sparkled like sapphires in the lighting. He was enjoying the day. Though it was not what he wanted to be doing. Would've rather have been studying his magic. Rather than going to a social gathering. He pretty much ignored the conversations going on around him. Focusing on a big metal pedestal at the front of the amazing room. As if expecting something to happen.
While Elecia sat down at a lonely table. Eyes closed as she tapped her well manicured fingernails against the table. Occasionally taking a sip of champagne. Her lucious blonde hair was tied into a wonderfully braided ponytail. Well for the most part it was. Though some flowed free down her back. Eyes a peircing green that seemed to appraise everything for its worth. Lips painted with blood red lipstick were in a neutral expression. She wore a wonderful fittin green silk dress. With a pelt draped over her shoulders. Fingernails painted ruby red. She was waiting for the moment her vainglorious father would make his little speech. Then she could make one of her own. Oh what a speech it will be. The best damn speech this family would have ever heard.

The chatter of conversation was stopped by a loud coughing noise. A man in about his fifties came upto the large metal pedestal. Adjusting a microphone. As he did a brief sound check. "I would like to thank you all for coming tonight. Especially for all the guest who haven't been here before." He gave the smile of a diplomat. One who had talked his way out of tough situations before. "Today we celebrate the birthday of my beloved Elecia. First of my seven daughters. I pray that she grow old and prosper. That she may be fruitful." He was giving the pointless blessings of the family. Yet Elecia decided to suffer through them for now. When the long drawn out speech was over her motioned for his daughter to come. Which she did duitifully. Higheels clicking against the tile. Until she made her way to the pedestal. As he father scooted over for her. She took a deep breath ,and began a speech of her own.

"Thank you father." She said with mock appreciation." I am truely honored to have such amazing parents. Especially my father who has guided me through my life. Taught me as much as my mother. Where would i be without him?" It was responded by a cheer from her family. "He has lead this family through twenty prosperous years. All of which I have enjoyed. In peace ,and luxury. All due to my loving father." Her lips turned into a sly sneer. "Though now I call an early retirement. So that a new age can begin. I call that my father take a vacation from his lofty seat as head of our wonderful household. Let its rightful heir take that role from him." it wasn't a motion, or a question. It was a promise. Before her father could react she had herblade formed into her hands. Driving into his stomach. He looked in pure amazement at the betrayel. As he coughed up a gout of blood. Elecia removed the blade kicking the man back. As he fell dead. "I proclaim myself the head of the Chavelle house by it's ancient laws. I have killed the current leader. With his blood I sign the blood oath to rule this family." She cut her finger and let the blood mingle with the blood of her dead father. All of the family members did not move. They knew what had happened. Elecia had rightfully taken her place as head of the great house of Chavelle. While Aaron stood dumbstruck at what she had done.

Rey having been one of the 'new guests who havent been here before' was midning his own buisness, ocassionaly talking to someone though he mostly kept to himself. He wasnt wearing his usuall black shirt and blue jeans but instead had gone out and bought an expensive black tux and white colard shirt, with very fancy black shoes and pants to match with a blood red rose in the chest pocket of the tux.By the time the father had finished giving the speech Rey was near the front of the room but to the side. As the daugter walked up Rey's eyes widdened at how beautiful she looked tonight, but what really supprised him was when she killed her own father. That action alone made rey supprised but the fact that the family did absolutly nothing in the fathers defense,for it seemed a ritual in this family, made him sick to the stomach. He had always hated murder and killing but this...this he didnt know how to describe how wrong it was... and all he could do was watch on and gasp with the rest of the 'new guests'

Kerry wore her fiery locks tied up, her elegant long dress and very expensive jewellery chosen especially for the occasion. She conversed easily with a gaggle of girls, though she had little interest in what was going on. She had little idea who these people were, but was quite aware of the amount of social and financial clout circulating the room. Kerry's parents had practically forced her to come to the affair, threatening to suspend charge accounts. Though she speculated that they probably would have spent significantly less if they simply let her stay in LA with Brit. She puffed a small amount of vaguely orange tinted smoke just thinking about it, 'god forbid they do their own social maneuvering.'
Kerry stuffed a bite of pastry into her face to take her mind off of it, 'and don't make a big deal out of your medical condition Kerry dear.' She could still hear her mothers condescension in the back of her mind and pulled a sour face. Even though the chocolate ganache filling was delicious. A concerned servant clucked and offered her something different, but she waved him away.
A hush fell over the crowd as the old man took the pedestal, Kerry gave the appearance of polite attention. Really she was mentally pre-shopping which designer houses she was going to hit up the second she got back to LA. When the young woman at the pedestal began to give her speech, Kerry picked up on a peculiar tone of voice which perked her ears.

"Let its rightful heir take that role from him."

Kerry, as well as the crowd, gasped with shock and fell dead silent as the man was murdered. In cold blood. In front of everyone.
She could only stare at the macabre ritual, a slightly bluish minty scented mist coming from her agape jaw. "What. The fuck?" She whispered breathlessly. Already the crowd was starting to buzz with uncertainty. Some socialites wondered if this was just a stage act, others were already reaching for cell phones and 911.
