Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scar decided to let the idea of others seeing her for her slide. She knew she didn't have a lot of self confidence, probably due to the lack of a parent model and perhaps due to the drug-dealing brother who came home and hurled abuse at her at 6 years old for not washing a shirt he'd only taken off the previous day. Maybe it was due to the bitches at school who tossed her books on the floor, knocked her lunch off the table and laughed. Maybe it was due to her professors thinking she acted out because she didn't get her way, because her parents were rich. Maybe it was because people friended her because they saw a price-tag over her head and a cool place to hang out rather than her. Maybe it was anyone of those reasons or all of them. So letting the comment slide was probably a good thing to do rather than get into one of those annoying arguments teenagers had.
"Thanks," she murmured in response and placed her delicate and small hand into his large one before allowing him to help her to her feet. She brought her feet under him and pushed lightly added with the pull Pain had on her hand she rolled nimbly onto the balls of her feet. She had to tilt her head up to look at him in the eyes and her eyebrows lifted at the words and her lips curled up into a smile. He was promising her a night of just them two which was something she deeply needed, if they were friends or more than that. Or friends with benefits. Someone to just talk to and have a laugh with..
"Huh I owe you dinner don't I?" she mused, remembering the deal she'd struck when the pebble had hit Chaos. "So where do you want to eat dinner?" she picked up the small bag she had brought from her travels, letting it bounce against her back as she slid one arm into the straps.
"Or do you have a plan already?" a teasing smile now. The seriousness was over, now it was more of a time to have fun.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Right now none of his problems mattered, he just shoved them to the back of his mind and focused on having a good night with Scarlet. The sun was beginning to go down, and the night was just starting; they had plenty of time. It was a nice sight too, seeing the sun go down from the park, they had been here longer than he thought; at least he got to share that sight with her. The Big Guy carefully helped the petite woman back to her feet, didn’t want to rip her arm out of socket or something awful like that; he always had to be careful with his strength. He returned the smile she gave after his lame attempt at romance, least he was trying, and seemed to be doing well; now let’s see if he can keep it up. He softly released her hand from his own rough one, but something about his grip seemed very gentle. His bright blue optics remained focused on her, a calm expression clinging to his face, and a sweet look in his eyes when his aligned with hers. “Don’t mention it.” She didn’t need to thank him for stating how he felt, or what he thought to be true. He only wished he could make her see herself the way he saw her, she needed to believe in herself and keep her head up; maybe he could take a little bit’ of that advice too.
A soft chuckled escaped his nose as his hands dug deep into his jean’s front pockets. His head slowly shook at her, holding it low as he closed his eyes. He smiled the whole time, it was kind of funny that she remembered that, he had completely forgotten about that deal. His head lifted back up to view her, his bright blue optics revealing themselves as he spoke up. ”Nah, dinner is on me tonight girlie, but you can make it up to me however ya’ want.” He winked at her and chuckled again, making a bit of a dirty joke; Pain would never really change who he was, only grow. “Yeah, I got a plan-“ No he didn’t, he had no damn idea what he was gonna’ do for her, but he always had good luck with the ladies. He was sure he’d figure something out, maybe he’d take her to a movie, then one of those nice restaurants around here. He surely didn’t fit in at all there, but something like that would probably make her happy, right? ‘Grah, Dinner and a Movie sounds too easy! Damn it, tha’ hell am I gonna’ do. Better off just leavin’ it up to her..’ His thoughts ran wild, he was having an internal battle on just what the hell to do, he was great with the ladies, but terrible with true romance. “-But uh, you got anything you wanna’ do first?”
‘Real smooth Brock.’

Scarlet laughed softly at his joke and she was quite happy to relax back into the feeling of comfort with him. He was so gentle and careful around her but not in a way that made her feel overly protected. He wouldn't be too gentle but he wasn't going to break her into a million pieces - she liked it. She felt cared for. She used one hand to grip one strap of her back pack and pulled it slightly higher onto her back. She didn't exactly look cut out for a big night out and she had to take it easy, her stomach still twisted unexpectedly now and then and her arm still throbbed slightly if she used it overly. There was, howeverr, one childish... silly... simple thing she had always wanted to do in New York that she had always dream of doing.
"Actually... I'd like to see the Statue of Liberty all lit up," she smiled slowly, shyly. It was a passion of hers, photo taking. She took the photo then turned it into a piece of art. She had left the collections of canvas's with various people but had always kept the photo in a scrap book that was at the bottom of her bag. It told of the places she'd gone that she could cross off her list. A list she had made as a small child of places she would go with the money she had made, because she would be a success and she would have her parents approval. It hadn't happened that way but she had had another opportunity to travel and visit her list places. She'd seen London - obviously - the Eiffle tower, the Colluseum in Rome, Leaning Tower of Piza, St Petersburg palace, the himilayas and the wall of China. She had a lot more to cross of and the Statue of Liberty was one of them. And night time was a beautiful time to see it lit up.
"I've had a list for a long time about things I want to see and it's on there, I've never had time before..." she crunched down on a coke can and picked it up before it blew away, putting it in the bin. A simple gesture but it was a nice one.

Always good to hear her laughing too, it was a nice thing to have a gal who truly enjoyed your sense of humor. He had a good sense of humor, but it was never a good thing to crack a joke and be the only one laughing. Pain simply smiled at her as she shyly stated what she wanted to do. He could understand why she wanted to see something like that, but to him seeing that statue meant nothing; he’d seen it a million times and took it for granted. Maybe if he saw it with her, he’d look at it a little differently, well, maybe. “That sounds nice Scar, I’ll take ya’ there.” The Big Guy leaned in towards her as she was finishing her sentence and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Her attention was focused off in the distance while she spoke, so this sweet moment was completely unexpected; just the way he wanted it to go. “I’ll take ya’ anywhere ya’ wanna’ go.” Pain wrapped his massive arm around her and pulled her close to his side. He held her just like he did in the past, with a soft, warm, and welcoming embrace; well as soft as his roughness could muster up. “We got all the time in the world, and you got yourself the best guy for the job.” His massive arm was rested over one shoulder, his hand held her waist gently while his rough fingers ran up and down her skin. Her blouse was moved just the slightest so he could touch her bare skin, feeling her hip bone and rib cage against his fingers; though he could barely feel it, it was nice.
Holding a woman hadn’t felt this good in years, well, since the last time he was with her. Maybe this gal really was something special; maybe he’ll actually have a respectable woman who sticks around. Who knows, guess he’d just have to wait and see, but for some reason he felt confident and lucky. He had nearly forgotten about the injuries she had just recovered from, he had to remember to take extra care of her until she got back to one hundred percent. She was a very strong woman, but even she had her limits, didn’t want her to end up in the hospital again.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta smiled when he said he'd take her there. She couldn't believe her luck. It was going to be amazing, with the sun setting now it would be a lovely time of evening when they got to the statue. With the reflection in the sea it was going to be a lovely scene to paint. She blinked in utter shock when he kissed her cheek and she blushed a deep red, a flash of it over her cheeks as she rested her head carefully on his strong firm chest and smiled, her eyes closing briefly as she listened to his words. He was being sensitive with her and caring. Goose bumps spread over her side when he touched his rough hands to her smooth and tender skin. She was warm under his hands and the smooth skin was only bumpy where the ghost of a cut was from Chaos' attack and the surface was slightly different where her tattoo was. The tribal pattern which spread over her side, from hip to breast bone. Scar couldn't help but shiver as his soft fingers traced over tender, ticklish skin and she moved a little closer to him, enjoying the warmth he was giving off.
"Anywhere hm?" she murmured thoughtfully, going through a list of all the places she would like to go and visit in her head. There were so many places in this beautiful world and to see them with Brock would be amazing. She looked up at him and raised one slight eyebrow though her smile was warm.
"Best guy in the world huh? Well I'm a lucky girl then ain't I?" her lips tweaked up into a grin, a flash of teeth which made her green eyes twinkle. She followed where he was going, not knowing where to go she just enjoyed the feel of being in his arms again.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
A flirty, genuine smirk clung to the Big Guy’s face as he gently caressed the skin covered by her tribal tattoo. He hadn’t been big on tattoos himself, but that one suited her well; it was very sexy. A warm safe place, he felt like he had that right now, feeling Scarlet’s warmth pressed against him, it felt good to be this close to someone again. Bright blue eyes gazed down on her, wrapped up in the sweet moment. Pain couldn’t help but give a soft chuckle when she called him ‘the best guy in the world’, proceeding to slowly shake his head as he spoke in his rough voice. “I never said that now, but thanks Scar.” When she smiled at him, he couldn’t help but return it, those bright green eyes and that lovely smile were too hard to resist. Another innocent girl just made his list; that self pity shit is just too hard to resist.
Without a word of warning, Pain scooped Scarlet off her feet and began carrying her bridal style. His smile faded back to his sly, subtle smirk, flashing it down at her just before warning her. “Hang on tight.” The Big Guy bent his knees and took off in a powerful leap, hurling through the air towards a high rooftop and landing with ease. “Might be a bumpy ride.” He said with a soft chuckle as he clutched her close to his chest just before making another leap, jumping from rooftop to rooftop towards his destination.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta's eyes were heavy now and she was reminded of just how little she had really slept. But the man next to her was warm and was probably the safest guy to be with in the entire world. Everyone in New York was either terrified of the Big Guy or Idolized him and here she was just strolling down the street with her head on his chest, his arm round her waist and feeling every bit complete. This was what she had been missing, no matter how soppy it sounded. She'd needed this, to feel comfortable and safe and... well... home really. London had been her home sure, but the house she'd lived in hadn't been home; it had been cold and miserable. Loveless. His arms were everything she had been missing and she couldn't help but smile in content, despite his teasing on her play of words. She was happy and ---
"What the...?" Scarletta stiffened when Pain pulled her up into his arms and her emerald green eyes widened sharply as she wrapped her arms round his neck quickly. Well she had been feeling happy and safe. Not she was fricken terrified. She felt him crouch under her, powerful muscles which could smash someone's skull in bunching up as he jumped.
Scar's stomach had been left on ground level.
"Oh my GOD!" Scar squeaked, the girliest sound the guy would hear from her. Scar was tough, she hadn't cried in front of him and she'd always proved her worth, not lived off of someone else. She was her own person. But being god knows how many feet in the air and having a strong fear of heights meant, in her opinion, she could be girly. Only a little. She tightened he grip and buried her face in his neck, her breathing heavy as she pressed herself to him.
"Oh god..." she squeaked and slowly peeked at the looming rooftop and tensed up worse. "Times like this I miss having wings..."

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
The Big Guy easily leaped from rooftop to rooftop, swiftly heading towards the statue of liberty with a beautiful lady in his arms. Couldn’t help but chuckle at her girly shrieking reaction, he hadn’t remembered she was afraid of heights until just then. Briefly, he closed his eyes as he softly shook his head at her, it was a sweet moment, and he missed having them. Pain held her close to his chest, his arms wrapped tightly around her to assure her that she was safe. “Relax.” The rough, raspy voice of his uttered softly in attempts to comfort her. When she dug her face into his neck, and felt her breathing on his skin, it nearly gave him goosebumps; very few women were ever able to do that. He gently placed his massive hand on the back of her hand, a simple, genuine smirk clinging to his face as he did so.
“Who needs wings when you got me?” He joked with a soft chuckle before his eyes darted up for a moment to focus on his leaping. Easily landing on the next rooftop, he ran immediately leaped from it towards the next. The hero’s bright blue eyes darted back down to Scarlet, and she seemed to been exhausted, he should probably just take her back to his apartment after they see the statue. The gal has had a long week, she deserved some good rest in a nice comfortable, warm home.
It didn’t take the hero long to arrive before the massive statue of liberty, standing atop a very tall skyscraper that looked to Ellis Island. Pain gently pulled Scarlet’s head from his neck and utterly softly in his raspy voice. “Take a look, it’s right there…” He then gently let her down and onto her feet, so that she could truly enjoy the sight. It really was nice to see it all lit up with her, but honestly, he had seen it so many times that if it wasn’t for her, it’d mean nothing. For some reason, he almost saw it like it was the first time again, just because of her reaction. The look in her eyes, the way it excited her, and the way it made her feel made him feel the same. “We can get closer, if you’d like…Hell, I could climb it for you…Think jumping might cause some damage…” He said as he scratched the back of his head, he was just trying to make her happy, and got the feeling he was doing a good job.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta could have been with any person in the world and still not have enjoyed the leaping motion from building to building. It made her stomach drop and her heart race, her bloody pump whenever he began that free falling sensation to the ground. The only time the feeling of moving through the air had felt good was when she had had wings, and that was probably because of Faith's pure love for what she was born to do. The feel of a warm wind on delicate feathers was sensational, it was like someone running soft fingers over a tender, intimate spot on your neck or side. Scarletta knew Brock would never drop her and she managed a small little laugh at his comment about who needed wings. The song 'you are the wind beneath my wings' popped into her head at that moment. She managed to sneak a peak up at him when he pulled her closer to him and she couldn't help but smile and laugh silently to herself at the smirk. Did that gesture ever leave his face? It was like a signature movement for him.
"Yeah yeah just watch where you're jumping big boy," Scar mumbled and pressed her face back into his neck, her eyes squeezing shut as they headed for the ground again. Maybe it was more the fact that falling made her mind flash back to memories she'd rather keep locked away. She swallowed a squeak as he ran and jumped again. Scar's entire body tensed up as she prepared herself for the next jump, her eyes squeezed shut still. That was, until he gently touched her cheek and jaw and turned her head to look at the object they had come to see.
Instantly the thought of being so high up didn't make her scared any more. The statue was beautiful. The regal woman stood tall and proud, her glassy eyes staring out over the ocean as if waiting and watching for more people to welcome into her city. It was her city in Scar's eyes. the soft sea green, aquamarine colour was bathed in a beautiful contrast of shades - a soft, soothing yellow from the lamp and somewhere within it gave her a holey light. But the darkened sky pressed around her like a blanket, throwing the small houses below her into darkness and out of focus. Scarletta's green eyes widened in pure amazement and she rushed to the edge of the building and put her hands on the cold railing which instantly heated up under her touch.
"It's beautiful..." she whispered and then looked back at Brock, excitement lighting up her beautiful eyes, her lips pulling up into a big smile. She did want to get closer but she wanted to enjoy it, take it slow, see it from every angle.
"Can we? Get closer? I want to take a photo," she smiled and then took his hands in hers tightly and glanced up at him then back to the statue. "It's beautiful... Thank you for bringing me here," she looked back up at him, gifting him with a large smile and kiss on the cheek.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
It was a nice sight for him, sharing a pleasant moment with Scarlet. Pain hadn’t done anything like this in years, well, not since he left her. The look in her eyes brought a smile to his rough face. The gal didn’t even have to speak to express her joy. The Big Guy dug his left hand into his pocket as he watched Scarlet run to the edge. His smile was unable to leave his face, at least for now, he was glad to have made her happy. Pain walked towards her intending to stand beside her, but was greeted with a request and a soft hand. The Big Guy took his other gloved hand out of his pocket and gave it to her, returning the smile with his usual charming, sly smirk. “No problem Scar.” His rough voice said simply as a gentle kiss was place on his cheek.
Pain released Scarlet’s hands and scooped her right off her feet, carrying her just like he did before. “I’ll take ya’ anywhere you want, but if I leaped from here, I’d cause some serious damage, and I doubt you wanna’ deal with me sprinting in your condition..” The Big Guy moved his hand to gently stroke her cheek. He couldn’t help but feel guilty for her even being injured in the first place. “How ‘bout a raincheck? Lemme get you somethin’ to eat, and then we’ll go back to my place and get some rest. How’s that sound?”

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta had been half way through getting out the camera from her back pack when he scooped her up as if she weighed nothing at all. Her eyes widened slightly at the sudden movement and she looked up at him as he spoke, pushing the hair out of her face was it fell into her eyes she listened to what he said and then nodded before holding up a finger.
"Just wait one sec," she asked softly and then moved the camera which was probably one of the most expensive things she had on her, and began to focus it on the statue, zooming in and focusing she took a beautiful picture of the statue and the reflection in the setting sun water. Content with the picture she put it back in her back and looked back up at Brock, only to see him staring at her. When he stroked his cheek she leaned into his hand and kissed the inside of his wrist softly, a worry line creasing her forehead.
"You look sad," Scar said softly and then stroked his cheek and down his neck to his strong muscular shoulder. It suddenly dawned on her exactly how gentle he was being with her. All that strength in his body, even the smallest of muscles probably had 10 times the amount of strength she had in her strongest muscle. She shook her head slightly, her blonde curly hair falling forward slightly.
"You better not be feeling guilty Mr. It was my fight, it wasn't your fault at all, you didn't know I was coming back to America," she frowned a little more, her lips pressing together causing the dimples in her cheeks to come out. Her green eyes scanned over his face, looking for some sign he understood she didn't blame him.
Scarletta was kind of glad about going home but even more so when a large fat rain drop fell and landed on her nose. She wrinkled it up ad then glanced to the sky just as the heavens opened up and sheets of rain began falling. Scar was basically soaked within minutes.
"Yeah maybe we need a rain check," she laughed softly.
Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Pain did as she requested and waited a moment so that she could take her picture. He’d never understand the point to that, or why she was so fascinated by a damn statue, but if it made her happy, he was alright with just about anything. The Big Man treated his lady gently as possible, and for a man of his strength, it wasn’t always easy. His hand continued to softly caress the side of her face, while the other gently cradled her, his attempt at comforting her, and it seemed to be doing well. Though he barely felt the kiss she planted on his wrist, it still gave him the same feeling of comfort.
Her small hands trailed down his hard numb skin, and a brief chill went up his spine as her fingers ran along his neck. Even numb, her touch made his skin crawl; in the good way of course. The Big Guy felt her soft hand come to a halt on his shoulder, her luscious green eyes staring up at him in obvious admiration, and a strong hint of worry; this gal worried too much about him. He hesitated to speak, and before he could even get a word out, Scarlet went on to tell him he shouldn’t feel guilty. Doesn’t stop him though, besides, that’s not bothering him that much, it’s all the other crap going on.
Pain couldn’t come up with a response, he simply shook his head in denial, taking his vision away from her briefly. The words he wanted to say remained in his head, there was no point in going on any further, they both viewed things very differently and there was no convincing either of them. ‘Still shoulda’ been there sooner.’
The silence was quickly broken by Scarletta, having felt a few raindrops fall onto the pair made his ‘raincheck’ official. Weird coincidence, but it got a chuckle out of the both of them. It felt good to laugh with her, and it had been a long time since he had laughed with a gal like that. A genuine smirk clung to his face as he looked down at her with his icy blue eyes, “Cmon’ Scar, Let’s head back to my place.” The Big Guy hadn’t at all forgot about feeding his lady, “I’ll fix ya’ up somethin’ when we get there.” Pain cradled her tightly to his chest, assuring that she wasn’t going anywhere. He was about to warn her, but decided against it, the gal should know the drill by now; besides, he did get a kick out of scaring her just a little.
The great hero bent his knees and with one mighty push he was sent leaping across New York City. As usual, he stuck to the high rooftops, leaping from building to building until he reached his apartment. The coolest way to travel, Pain-style.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta was more caught up in the rain now to reply to what he said about being there quicker. God could it rain in New York! At first she didn't like it, natural reaction considering her powers and the fact it was making her top soak through and cling to the still tender skin underneath. The trousers were going to be a pain to get off, she could already feel them moulding to her legs and sticking themselves there. She felt Brock press her closer to him and she was thankful for it, he was half blocking out the rain though her hair was soaking his top where it hadn't been touched by the rain.
"He can cook too," she clicked her tongue in appreciation and glanced up at the stormy sky. She was about to ask if there was anything he couldn't do when he launched into the air on one of his long jumps again. Scarletta swore and ducked her head down as she remembered just how high up in the air she actually was, holding tightly to her bag so it didn't fall, thank god the material was waterproof.
Soon they were back at his apartment and she finally had her feet back on solid ground once they were inside and basically outside of his door. Scarletta was soaked to the skin. The slightly baggy top she had had on when she had got out of the hospital was now a second skin and plastered to her body. The light blue colour was now a dark blue nearly black colour where it latched to her slim waist, hips, breasts and her arms. The hipster jeans were so tight now she was worried that they had shrunk with her still in them. In some places on her legs they were pinching and as for the converses she had had on... She slipped them off first only to see her soaks were no dryer than her shoes.
"Sorry..." she blinked as a drop of water from her hair which was iron straight from the rain dripped in her eye. "I'll clean that up later," she motioned to the wet footprints she was trapesing through the flat which didn't look like it had changed one bit from three years ago. She dumped her bag in the corner and crouched down to make sure her electronics were okay. Phone and camera were fine and so were the clothes. She tugged out a bundle of new clothes and a towel and began desperately trying to dry her hair which was dripping everywhere.
"D-do you mind if I take a shower?" she blinked up at Brock then, soaked to the skin in the middle of his flat, her eyes trailing over his own dripping wet body to. A feeling she hadn't felt in a long time uncurled in her stomach slowly. Scar had to admit, Brock looked good when he was wet.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
The rain never bothered him, if anything it soothed, but it seemed Scarlet didn’t enjoy it as much. Pain did his best to shelter her from the rain, but his efforts were unable to prevent her from being entirely soaked. Maybe it was her reaction, or just the look on her face, but the Big Guy couldn’t help but chuckle at her. A genuine smirk clung to his face, he liked this feeling.
Scaling the massive skyscrapers had become second nature, it took him little time to return to his newest apartment. Being the most popular man alive forced him to constantly relocate. The Big Guy released her from his arms, gently placing her back on both feet. Like any man would, he couldn’t help but notice Scarlet’s soaked figure. Whether it was a physical attraction, something deeper, or just the rain, Pain felt drawn to her, his body moved closer without a thought. His mind thought this might be a bad idea, but he wasn’t willing to listen anymore.
There he was, standing inside his apartment right before the front door with Scarlet. The two left behind a puddle of rainwater wherever they stood, but Pain barely took notice to it. Even when she apologized for it, the words went through one ear and out the other. This felt all too familiar, standing here with her back at his place. There was no more thinking, no thoughts to distract him, only what he wanted at this moment. He felt genuinely happy and wouldn’t let anything interfere.
The hero’s icy blue eyes gazed down at Scarlet, barely registering her sheepish question as the two eyed each other lustfully. Pain gave a sly smirk, pulling the petite woman into his one armed grasp before responding smoothly, “That an invitation?” His flirtatious smirk remained, his free hand moving to grasp her chin. Pain showed little restraint, pushing her chin up so that she was looking up into his icy eyes. Without hesitation, he planted a kiss on her soft lips which quickly melted into a wild passionate expression of their lust for one another.
Pain then swept her off her feet, carrying her bridal style towards the shower. Whatever happened tonight, he wouldn’t let himself regret a thing. Living in regret never solved a thing, today’s not the past, there’s no need to relive it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t exactly great at taking his own advice.

Re: The talk -Invite only;Pain.-
Scarletta and Brock were like two strong elements who wanted to be around one another but were terrified of hurting the other. Like fire and water, if they were balanced, they were fine. If they weren't then one could hurt the other with a word, or simply retreating. It was this constant spiral between them both. Well that's what it felt like to Scar. But in that moment they were on the same level, in the same pent up lust state that meant everything else was forgotten.
When he gripped her chin and asked if it was an invitation the stubborn, rebellious streak in her wanted to same some witty comment about how it wasn't an invitation or tell him to stay there. But his possessive hold on her made something deeper unfurl in her stomach and heart and made her insides liquid warm. She hadn't felt like this since the last time he'd touched her. She stared right back into his eyes, almost daring him to take what he wanted, which he did when his lips crushed against hers. Scar lost all sense of anything else but Brock just then. She pressed her lips back against his and was sure the angelic blood within her system was actually humming in relief. The buzz filled her ears and she gently ran one hand up his chest and rested it on the back of his neck to keep him locked against her lips. Her other hand soon joined it's counter part behind his neck though this one snaked up further and ran her fingers through his thick, soft hair.
Scarletta was reluctant to let go of his lips until he scooped her off of her feet and carried her towards the shower. She couldn't help but laugh softly under her breath.
"I don't remember inviting you," she murmured and gently bit the based of his throat in a way that said she was in no way going to fight him out of the shower. In his arms Scar was definitely at home.
