Hurricane Drake

The path ahead of the three was clear up ahead, he could see Florida City from where he was. Sean was utilizing his power first to stop the rain from landing on them, then to dry their clothes. He kept taking things a step further, forming chains of ice to harness themselves to Sul-Fury. It was his idea, but he was thinking more on the lines of a literal metal chain they could find somewhere. And that was only if it got bad, they were fine for now. The Hurricane was fast approaching though.

Sul flashed back to when Sean and him were fighting Pain, Sean had exerted all his energy to the point where he was bleeding from his nostrils and not giving up. He pushed the brink of death, in Sul's mind. He had told Sean earlier today not to overextend his powers, he needed to save his energy. Thinking back of Sean's weak state back in their previous experience, Sul grew agitated. He didn't want to see him like that again. He whipped his head over his shoulder and snapped at Sean.

"What did I tell you Sean? Save your energy! I'm going to need you up ahead, and you're going to be no good to me if you're passed out again! Our team is only an advantage to us if we're all in the match, understand? When we were fighting Pain, it was okay for you to sit on the sidelines and wait. It won't be here. The Hurricane won't give you a break. Doing trivial things like this is wasting your energy showing off. If you even show a hint of wearing out, I'm aborting the mission." Sul spun back around facing the direction of the City, they were approaching it quickly. Up ahead was their first real rescue mission.



The hurricane appeared to have separated several levels of the apartment complex from the main structure. The rickety building was barely holding up standing by a thread, as pieces of the structure crumbled and fell to the ground. It wouldn't be long before it collapsed. They had to search inside for people that were trapped and injured.

"I get it Sul. Im not even pushing my powers to its limit. Not even close" Sean assured smiling a charasmatic smile. "Stopping some rain, freezing water and making chains have never been hard for me. Tearing through steel is a different matter though" he was pretty much explaining the details of his powers. "I was constantly pushing my powers to their limits in our fight with Pain. Its no picnic to force water to do that. you know compared to tearing through steel. Doing tricks like this are nothing. Besides what do you know!!! Do you know what i can do!! No!! All you know is what i showed in our fight with Pain!!! He drew in a deep breath. "So dont go assuming you know my limits and what i can do!!! Till you know what its like to lose control of it and ki ..." He stopped himself. He was done. Finished with his little speech condoning his actions. Face red he turned around as the chain around him melted and fell to the ground. Now only the girl was strapped to Sul. After all Sul hadn't had this power. He didn't know what it was like to loose control. To kill every friend you had all in an accident. All because you were too weak to stop it.

So he made his way onward knowing that they were trailing behind them. Hurt that Sul underestimated what he could do. The power he was capable of. Also the small amount of training he managed on the barge ride over to the site. He could say his control had gone up at least five to six percent. he was a little stronger than his fight with Pain. Not as weak. So he would appreciate not being treated like he was a stupid kid. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a long sturdy looking metal chain. That had wrapped itsself around a pole. A tentacle of water wrapped around the chain. Unwrapping it from around the pole. With high pressure tossing it at Sul feet. He had his damn chain. So now he could shut the fuck up about his weakness. A canine sinking into his lower lip drawing a little blood. biting back anger. Some aimed at Sul but mostly at himself. He was being an immature child and everyone knew it. Though thats how he knew how to deal with rage. The only way.

Alice smiled slightly as they made headway towards Florida City... but it seemed that trouble was brewing between the two of them when Sul suddenly snapped out in a little tirade towards Sean about overusing his powers. She looked at Sean as he replied to Sul about how he wasn't overusing his powers. They both looked really upset... especially Sean when he melted the chain of ice surrounding himself. Alice sighed slightly, wondering what was up with guys and... challenging. She shrugged mentally, slightly worrying about what the hell Sean was thinking.

They soon came across a real metal chain, Sean quickly wrapped that around himself and gave the other end to Sul... he definitely wasn't happy about the argument. She could kinda sympathize... being a teen and all, no one really respected her opinion. Her attention was soon diverted to a crumbling apartment building... "Hey, people might be in there." she said loudly, pointing... she hoped that it would divert the males' attentions enough so they'd stop sulking.

Apparently Sean decided to retaliate in throwing a fit about it. Sul just turned around and walked towards the apartment complex while he went on his charade. Sul didn't know much about Sean's powers, he wouldn't. All he knew is that he needed Sean very soon, and that Sean was using his powers for mundane things they didn't need. He didn't bother replying to him. A metallic chain wrapped around his ankle, but he kept walking pretending not to notice. Alice broke the ice, pointing into the direction of the way they were walking.

"Mhmm, that's where we're heading." There was no entrance. It had been submerged under the water, which meant people were more than likely trapped within. A strong gust of wind blew and a large portion of the apartment collapsed even more, falling to the ground. It was unstable, and crumbling by the moment. If there were people inside, they would be dead soon. The hurricane was fast approaching, and if it didn't destroy the building, it would flood the building and drown them within. "Alright, it's too unstable. We'll need some support beams to keep it from collapsing on us, and we will need a way inside."

He let Sean and Alice figure out how to help out in their own way. He started tearing street lamps out of the ground. They were only above the water by about a foot, but it was enough for Sul to grab onto and yank the large object out of the water. He moved towards the building to prop up the collapsed apartment levels. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out Pain's Lighter. He smiled at the momento of the battle, it gave him a little bit of an edge. He turned the lighter on and ignited his hand which burst into flames. He placed his hand on the ends of the street lamp to weld it to the structure.

Technically he could have asked Sean to weld it together with Ice, but he was giving him some room to do his own thing. The kid needed to blow of steam. They still needed a method of getting inside, and other ways to support the structure so it didn't collapse on them. If needed, he would ram his body into the wall to knock it down and make his own entrance.

The apartment was crumbling. To be expexted of something in a hurricane for sure. Sean didn't care though. Well it wasn't a lack of caring. So much as immaturity. So he swallowed back his emotions. Water forming thick ice pillars. Used to prop the collapsing part of the building. Just like Sul was using the poles to do. Fingers tracing the solid metal chain that linked him and Sul. It was barely under the strength of the chain he had made. Still if he tried anything to help apparently he was doing wrong. Did they want to be rained on,did they like that feezing water on them? Was he just a burden? Cause he wasn't like Pain and Sul. Was he too weak and too emotional. If there were people in there Sean just wanted to save them and get this over with.

Greyish eyes tinged with anger and confusion hovered over to the girl for a second. Lingering for a second. Wondering what she could do to help. So he decided to walk over to her approach her withou a confrontation. "So your power. It seems similar to mine. If you want i can help you control it. If you want that is."

Alice nodded Sul's assessment of the crumbling building, it certainly would need a few stabilizers. She stared as Sul reached down and grabbed a lightpost out of the water, setting himself on fire and using the heat to weld it. She was in awe... that guy was frickin' strong! Then, thick pillars of ice joined the lightpost, further stabilizing the building. She looked over at Sean, feeling a twinge of pity for him... she could definently relate to the feeling of being underestimated... her mom did that all the time. She never seemed to understand that Aloce wasn't a ten year old anymore and that she did know how the world worked, including the less savory parts.

She was suddenly pulled out of her musings by a voice... Sean seemed to be speaking to her. He didn't seem to be too hostile so she listened. As he got to the helping her how to control her powers part, Alice was surprised, after all, they weren't exactly friends. "Ummmm... sure?"

The building seemed firm enough, the others were busy with their methods of helping out. Sul finished up with his work giving the structure more support before moving onto phase two. He watched Sean and Alice talk a few moments, but decided to leave them to their own discussion. It didn't involve him. The hefty man walked towards the building, and started to build up speed, turning into a full-on run. He slammed his shoulder into the side of the wall and threw his body into it. Bricks flew inwards into the building and dust clouded the indoor rooms. He backpedaled his feet into a halt before busting through another wall indoors.

It would have been pitch dark had it not been for Sul's illuminating fiery body lighting the room up like a torch. Nobody was nearby the point of entry, so Sul moved on inside looking for people. "HELLO! WE'VE COME TO HELP! ANYONE HERE!" he shouted while walking up and down hallways. "Over here!" he heard in the distance.

"Now where should i begin" Sean wondered. Scratching his chin pondering. Then an idea hit him. "Think off what you control as an extension of yourself. Sort of like an arm of sorts, and when you use that power. Your flexing the muscles of that arm. When you master that mindset controlling the element should be easier." He pointed a finger at a large collection of water. Willing it to move. As a small bit of water came to him. Moving around him. Seeming to flutter about. Changing shapes each second. Changing from liquid, to solid ,to gas,and then back to liquid in a matter of seconds. "From what i've seen of your ability you have a long way to go. Though you do have great potential" Sean admitted smiling. She even had the potential to surpass him. That half scared him and also impressed him. So now he waited for what the girl had to say about it.

Alice fidgeted slightly as she waited for Sean to speak. After a few moments, she opened her mouth to tell him to get to it, only to have him begin before a sound could be uttered. She listened carefully, any pointers would be useful, "A muscle..." she muttered, eyes widening as he started his display. The water changed states and shape so quickly that she could barely keep track. Finally, she managed to speak, "I suppose that make---" She turned around quickly, hearing a loud noise. She quickly spotted the new hole in the apartment wall, once Sul started to yell, she figured out what had happened. "Yeah, that makes sense." she said quickly, unsure what to do.

Spinning around the corner, Sul couldn't believe his eyes. There were possibly hundreds of people in this large assembly room. The one man that summoned him into the room began to tell him that the people had done their own rescuing mission and gathered together here at the apartment complex. They lacked medical and food supplies, and the structure had unknowingly become unstable. It had collapsed and wounded even more. Sul turned his head over his shoulder to see if Alice and Sean had followed him but they hadn't. He knew they were probably preoccupied with their initial structural support.

The hurricane grew closer, through the window Sul could see a large grey cloud swarming towards them at a high velocity. It would be there in minutes. Sean and Alice needed to get inside now! More than that, these people needed to get away from windows and decaying areas in the structure. "Get everyone to the basement level, as many as possible if they can't all fit. We'll try to keep the structure standing. Just get everyone to hang in there." The people rushed towards the flights of stairs, and Sul ran towards his manmade entry. "Sean! Uhm... Girl!" What was her name...? She looked at his general direction. "Yeah you! Get in! We need to keep this structure intact, all the civilians have pooled into here. The hurricane will shred it to pieces. We need to keep it stable from within. It's our best chance." Sul ran back inside and made sure all the civilians had made it to the basement.

What Sul said caught his ear. Even though he was a littlre sore at him. Sean wasn't that shallow. He would help. "You heard him. Lets go"Sean said quickly to the girl before rushing into th building. Going in through the hole that Sul managed to make. A large amount of water following him. Scattering abouty as they made thick, sturdy pillars throughout the building. He wasnt sure if the building would hold, but it was his best option. Not as if anyone else could do better.

When he was sure the building was secure. Sean went up to Sul. "Are all the people safe?" He was making sure. Not sure why, but he thought it important to ask. As more water rushed in. Increasing the strength of the ice pillars. Knowing that the hurricane loomed closer. Knowing that it could kill him and the girl easily. As well as destroy the building.
"So what do we do next?"

Alice suddenly heard yelling, she quickly focused on the words. "Tons of people, have to reinforce building... got it." she muttered before quickly falling Sean. Running closely after him into the building, especailly when she saw the water rushing in after them. She sighed in relief when they formed pillars instead of crashing after them. She wished she could do something long lasting like that... but unlike shadows, water would stay as ice until it melted... shadow didn't stay solid for too long and it hurt her to make it stay solid. She knew it'd be best to save her powers for when it's necessary.

She stopped next to Sul and Sean, staying silent as Sean asked if the people were ok. But despite her silence, her body language and facial expression told them her concern. She looked back, watching as more and more water rushed in and became ice to reinforce the building more and more. She really thought that it'd be enough... well... it'd better be enough, lest they die.

"They're safe for the time being, we have to focus on keeping them alive for the next wave. Then we're home free. The rescue teams will look for survivors after the storm has passed." Sul-Fury replied to Sean. The people would be fine as long as the basement held up and the building didn't collapse on them. That was the job of the newly formed group of Heroes. Sul wondered if Alice's mother had been in the basement with the survivors. If not, he wasn't sure if she would be safe in this storm.

He didn't have time to ask. The ground started to shake, and blasts of high velocity winds streamed through the building. The hurricane would be there in moments. "You ready?" He shouted, as the wind picked up as the storm was quickly approaching. The whistling of the breeze almost drowned out Sul-Fury's voice. "Stick together, don't try anything stupid!"

Looking out the window, the devastation was being flung towards them. This building was going to take a heavy hit. Unnamed amounts of debris was circulating in the storm. A windowed building wasn't going to help their situation. Alice and Sean were weak relatively compared to him. They wouldn't know what was going to punish this structure. He kept his eyes on the window to try and prepare for anything flung at them. An entire house siding had been torn off a small residential home and barreled towards them. Sul-Fury silently prayed and hoped the three would survive.

The massive piece of debris slammed against the structure and blew a whole through the wall. Pieces of plywood and shrapnel flung all over the room. Two-by-four planks of wood flung like daggers into the room, slamming into two of Sean's ice pillars and shattered them instantly. When the shrapnel hit the supports Sul-Fury made out of steel, they were powerful enough to puncture the steel and stick into the beam, but it didn't shatter like ice. Sul was pushing himself forward to try and absorb as much debris as he possibly could. Being the larger of the three beings didn't mean he could protect the entire room though. The planks of wood slammed against Sul's torso and head splintering into pieces easily, but a massive piece of debris caught his eye as a water heater sailed towards them. He couldn't just absorb the blow he had to stop it from hitting the other two as well. He threw out both of his hands and tried to grasp the large oblong object as it slammed against his palms and made him slide backwards a few feet and into a wall. The wall didn't break, but it was cratered. The whole building shook, as its supports started to fall. Sul tossed the water heater to the side, looking for a way to help.

The hurricane came upon them swiftly. Shaking the ground as high velocity winds came at them. Death seemed more likely to Sean. Very likely indeed. Never had he seen something of this magnitude. Compared to this his power seemed to pale in comparison. An ant in a raging sea. Still he didn't have the luxury of fear. He had to act. As some of his ice pillars were destroyed by peices of shrapnel. With a thougth they liquified and reformed. This time twice as dense. The hurricane was throwing everything it had at them. A large water heater flying towards Sul. Though he cuaght it. Not with as much ease as expected but still he caught it. Leaving a crater in the wall behind him. Followed by the building beggining to shake. "Damn" Sean silently cursed knowing what was happening. The building was about to collapse! That and Sean with all his knowledge had no idea what to do. He was screwed. As well as the girl. There was nothing he could do. Nothing but wait to die.

The Hurricane was... well... it was a hurricane. And... it was brutal. It felt like Alice had barely blinked before the torrental rain and huge gusts of wind were upon them... and they were not faring well at all. Pieces of shrapnel crashed into the ice pillars, shattering them, some even pierced the steal reinforcements.... that scared her. She watched as Sul took most of the damage... but he couldn't protect them all. Then, then the building began to shake, "Shit!" Alice cursed, guessing what was about to happen if they didn't do anything. She glanced around the room, guessing where the essential areas were before raising her hands and screwing her eyes in concentration. As she clenched her fists, giant pillars of black shadow errupted out of the prexisting darkness, placed at hopefully strategic zones. She also hoped that the pillars were the right density, she had been shooting for a rubbery texture, one that would hold still but absorb stress as well... the only problem was that she'd never done something like this before. "Shit, I hope this works." she muttered, feeling the drain of her energy. This was only a temporary solution...

They were fighting for their lives, against a foe that could not be attacked or stopped. The structure was unstable but Sean and Alice were trying their best to prevent it from collapsing on the people below. Creaks and snapping sounds sounded off alarms all around them, and it was difficult to predict. Objects outside the structure punished the building, along with the winds itself threatening to obliterate the people within. The whole in the wall was letting too much debris in, objects flung around the room whizzing past Sean and Alice. One blast would kill them at the velocity the objects were thrown at. Even if Sean froze it, the hole would be blasted through time and time again. It seemed like the current of the winds was flowing in a specific direction that made most of the debris punish that side of the building.

The hurricane was almost like a cloud of dust, objects being difficult to predict or sense. Sul was getting more and more unable to predict debris flying at them. A beam of steel whizzed overhead and impaled the wall behind them. It could have been Sean. Sul had to do something. He walked towards the hole in the wall with his arm outstretched. The closer he got, the less room the winds had to blow objects indoors. Steel, plastic and wooden objects pelted him in the head and torso. The objects would make an impact and occasionally knock his shoulder or head back but he would press forward as if they didn't happen. They were at high velocities, Sul could still feel the pain but it wouldn't crack his thick skin. As he approached the crevice he stood at the opening, placing his spread out palms on the ceiling, and extended his legs to position himself so that limited debris could fly through the gaps.

It would work, for now. A crack started to develop in the middle of the wall. It rapidly made its way around the perimeter of the building. Several cracks started to appear all around. The building wouldn't stand. "Get down in the basement with the others, this place won't hold!" Sul-Fury shouted over the booming wind. The girl may listen and flee for safety, but he knew Sean would protest for Sul's safety. It wasn't long ago that Sean saved him from drowning, one of Sul's many weaknesses. But this wasn't the same. This time, Sean was the one in trouble. And it was up to Sul to stop him from getting killed. He had a prepared objection for Sean's defiance. "Just go Sean, I'll be alright! You won't!" The debris started to pick up, pelting Sul in the jaw throwing his head to the side. A random bowling ball slammed against his knee causing it to falter for but a second. The spherical projectile turned to powder and fragments on the blow. "Trust me! I need you to make sure those below survive. I'm counting on you! Please do this for me!"
