Chapter 5 Ideas

Cosmos, great idea.

I like it too. It definately has the same feel as the Gov't sanction idea (that I've actually tried to start before), but with a lot more action instead of NPCs. The only problem that might need to be addressed is that (if all the crime is set up and taken down by the Immortals before the heroes can act) is that Heroes will be sitting on their thumbs for a good portion of it. There might need to be a distraction thread or two while the Immortals get set up so that heroes can also feel like they are a part of the chapter. Otherwise, they'll only get to participate at the end, when they are running/surrenduring from/to the authorities. A possible example could be the Immortals talking to members of GUN and critiquing them. Or maybe having them lead the media into the main hero HQ. That'd be interesting. Either way, it's a great idea. I'd be all for that coming up soon.


As for the "Crisis on Multiple Earths" idea... no way. First, it's unoriginal and (by extension) boring. Second, it would involve everyone doubling their character count for the entire chapter (and they cant even have the opposite characters in the same thread!). Lastly, there would be some OP freaking characters. Xyron can heal someone from a limbless comatose torso back to full fighting shape in no time at all. NegaXyron would then be able to degenerate you INTO a limbless comatose torso in no time at all. Cant let that happen, lol. Not to mention there are "Gray" characters whose powers arent inverted so easily. How would the opposite of teleportation work? What side would renegades be on? Would "Natural" heroes become frail withered husks? There's just too much wrong with it to work correctly.

I had a two pronged attack to battle Hero boredom, while the Immortals generally slide into prosperity.

Firstly: The Immortals will be handling threats that they actually manufacture. A Mercenary Army is robbing every bank in New York City? That's because Cosmos encouraged them, while the Persona he plays will take them down, know from the hours of work where they will be at crucial times, how they will be armed, and their weaknesses.

This can extend to Fake Alien Invasion, a large flying Saucer attacking a city may be a hard topped Dirigible that the team simply enters and explodes from the inside.

It just has to look like they're doing something, as they move onto pretending to arrest and take into custody the various Villains.

Secondly: Well, rather similar to the first, but maybe outfitting more petty thieves with more dangerous technology. Make claims to the U.N. of an island in the Pacific were some rogue terrorist element can be found. It's simply about making it look like The Tough Guys, The Phantoms, and so on and so forth, are abandoning America to a crime wave to fight overseas.

A brilliant distraction may be something like instigating a revolution in the Middle East. Not only is it similar to actual events, but we can explore how groups may be internationally seen.

Maybe sorta combine ideas? Aliens are replacing people in our government and they see superheros as a threat so they begin to try and kill them off? Get up files on them and then try and execute them.

I know I'm new here but to me Cosmos's idea sounds like an awesome one and if I could join that thing, I think I'd really enjoy it.

All the while, The Immortals are setting up attacks (And then preventing them) on innocent people to make the rest of the Hero community look bad. As time goes on, the other groups are pushed into the wrong side of the law, while the Immortals become the Champions of American and are backed by the military, all the while adored by the public.

Basically, the story is about exploring character allegiances. Renegades will have to stake down a side or get taken down by a feverish US Government, turning its back on Superbeings. Character’s that were once considered Heroes will be driven to fight Cops and the Military unless they surrender completely. People who were once friends might become enemies, while others may actually be forced to do things they find disgusting.

And Villains will finally get a choke hold on what they want most. Power. Fame. Those filthy Heroes. Or the world itself.

I’ve been coming up with a large number of plot points, all the while working towards the eventual collapse of the whole idea. (I mean, who wants to RP in a world ruled by Villains?) But I know that some people might object from an idea from someone who hasn’t been around that long.

If this does get chosen to be a Chapter idea, then I want to make sure everything that I do, as self appointed “mastermind” of the Immortals ( ), will be completely fine with the Admins an Mods.

I really want to make this as fun a thing as possible.

My idea would be very similar. However what would cause the superhero rise up is the rising pattern of hero deaths (they could be made up NPC's simply for the storyline's sake) and captures. The captured ones are paraded on television in front of the worlds media as the cause for the worlds problems, including the recent indo-pakistan war which uncovered people with abilities involvement. Some of those heros could be furiously trying to get free, others would look beaten up, ashamed and heart broken at the sight of scoiety turning against them. It would seem more than just a coincidence to heroes. Governments across the world would begin a massive crackdown on supers both villains and heroes - but the heroes fight back with their own agendas. The villains with more guile find their way into the villains plans and side with the government to take down the heroes, offering themselves as either 'a shining beacon of hope' or the lesser of two evils which is obviously a load of crap to the heroes but the politicians don't know that. Maybe this could be the perfect opportunity to resurrect G.U.N? They could offer protection and a way to fight back for heroes that have become increasingly isolated. However G.U.N would have to go underground. This causes heroes to rally the troops and get together to fight off what would clearly be an underhanded attempt to get rid of heroes by villains. How that’s found out can be debated with many ideas. Once the hero's rally together, or even go on their own paths of justice, that’s when the real fighting begins and the villains are unearthed behind it all. A massive battle would ensue - perhaps in Washington, London or another important capital. After the battle, which might not just be a straight up fight, there could be more complex objectives involved during the battle instead of just beating the villains to a pulp, although a massive citywide battle would be amazing - that’s when the aliens come down and attack. They won't just randomly turn up. Their approach could be documented in the storyline however the government officials doing it could pass it off and not actually investigate the threat fully because all the resources are needed to fight the heroes. The villians too wouldn't be aware of the threat, they would be too consumed with trying to take oer the planet without having to worry about aliens. Alien infiltrators have already been on Earth for years, some (as suggested above) are in S.C.A.R and using them for their own gain. Ultimately they are on NO ONE'S side but their own race. Hense how the aliens knew where and when to strike (right after the huge battle when all the surviving heroes and surviving villians are at their weakest and most disorganised). The aliens infiltration plan of attack worked - divide and conquer.

I say this idea because it’s been suggested before and I've had this idea too but I think it would be a lot better if it were a combined threat. Governments wouldn't have enough resources left to fight aliens off as the damage caused from fighting the heroes and after eventually discovering the super villain plot and trying to oust them - short of using nuclear weapons. All the heroes would be drained and somewhat disorganised from the huge battle and at their weakest giving the aliens the upper hand at the time….until a solution is found. On ground engagements, we have heroes and villains that will tear the aliens a new one but the real threat is from their strike and capital ship which rest both in atmosphere and in orbit over Earth. The heroes and villians would then have a choice: unite against a common enemy or fight on alone. This could bring out some very interesting plot's because enemies could suddenly have to work together with a massive distrust between them. Again, the villians being villians would obviously try to gain an advantage from it - stealing alien tech or something and the heroes would be themselves. Beating off anything thats a threat to the worlds safety, however they too could take alien tech for themselves - if that is sensible in the plot though.

Once the war is over, what remains of the super heroes and villains go back to a devastated Earth. Many have perished, most of which are ordinary people. Some heroes might not be able to get over this, the fact that the villians brought on so much suffering which very, very nearly wiped out the entire human race and so some of them, if not all go on personal and/or united crusades to either kill or lockup any and every villian they can find by any means necessary. The gloves have finally come off.....

Leading onto the next chapter.
